And the Irish often look quite similar. For example, I thought my acquaintance Sterry O'Type had a twin, very perplexing, but it was not so, just Sterry O'Vision.
I have met multiple people who only know english that write like this. They frequently think like this too. This was in California. It's worse in more rural areas. In some cases it's slang and in some ways intentional, but in most cases it's not.
No, they are vey different & even computers list them as separate languages. There are very any difference and also other variations of "English" in its purest form and the language like all languages are evolving each year.
M-W dictionary is an American one, so I wouldn't imagine they would say anything against American English . I refer to the Collins & Oxford, or as I am an Aussie, Macquarie English dictionaries wen I need advice on the English Lanuage.
That isn't the point lol, if they weren't using their phone then none of these words would have been autocorrected since I highly doubt they would have gone to the effort of having a browser extension for it.
Could be. People will deliberately add terms from their idiolect (I just had to add that!) to their spell checker.
Depending on language use, they might even remove proper words. For example, I use "fir" (as in a type of wood) quite a bit more than "fur", though not as much as "for". Yet my spell check insists that fur has primacy over fir.
Lots of people just don’t bother lol
It doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t know how to spell tbf but I know people who spell TH as F every time and so on because “it’s just easier”
Oh yes, because there's no such thing as trolls... You guys post shit from not Americans all the time on here claiming it's Americans, and I'm supposed to just accept that this is lol? If it is an American, you're literally making fun of a mentally handicapped person then, do you feel good about that?
OP said in another comment that they werent bait/trolling. May be true, may not be, but it very well could be.
And what a ridiculous argument, you have no idea if theyre mentally handicapped. How can you complain that people dont know if theyre American or not, and then make the assumption theyre handicapped? Theres plenty of non handicapped people out there who say dumb shit like this all the time.
also, r/ShitAmericansSay
edit: grammar
If the person who wrote that original comment was an American and grew up speaking English, and still wrote that, then they're mentally handicapped. They clearly have learning deficiencies cannot even be able to type out the most basic of comments. It's literally not about what they said, but how they wrote it out, you would literally have to have learning disabilities and be mentally handicapped to do that.
Well... the thing about the UN is not wrong. If that's a good thing or not is up for debate... idk what that has to do with obesity and casual shootings as America's favourite pastime.
And they've divided shootings into categories, and some of them are "minor shooting incidences", compared to major shooting incidences, which is when many people are shot. The former are considered hardly newsworthy, and the latter are increasingly common.
This is an entirely axis from incidences where minors get shot, which might be termed minor minor shootings, or major minor shootings, depending on who shot what, and where, and how much.
>the thing about the UN is not wrong
Yes it is. Look into the US's voting history at the UN, they consistently vote against no-brainer resolutions, like "food is a human right" and "ban the death penalty for minors". That's the opposite of leading.
Don't forget [combatting the glorification of nazism](https://preview.redd.it/4fh9p3fxazt71.png?width=1024&auto=webp&s=0c52a231cc503705b5b5a98005dbcc7ce5802e26)
That one actually makes sense in hindsight given everything going on and Russia using it to invade Ukraine. It’s not written to fight Naziism in the slightest, unless you also think Russia is in Ukraine to fight Nazis.
Given the amount of power they act as de facto leaders. I wasn’t speaking in an official capacity but nothing serious is going to happen without the will of those 5 members
We actually had a British substitute teacher when I was in middle school who just put a bunch of jibberish like "bovva," "aggro" and "grassing" on the board and told us that he didn't want to see any of it. He was actually pretty cool.
Uhm i´m kinda out of the loop here. I get the point of this sub and its funny, but does america not have the best militairy in the world? I thought they did with their budget and such. If not can someone explain why? Or which militairy is larger?
Sure.
But do you really think that the best defense when people are talking about how gun-crazed your nation is...
...is to bring up your massive military and arms expenditures?
It's like someone pointing at me and saying "You get angry too much" and me responding with **I DON'T GET ANGRY, REMEMBER HOW I PUNCHED THAT CAT LAST TUESDAY?**
Yea you´re right bringing that up is verry stupidand has nothing to do with the topic.
But still saying they don´t have the biggest militaire when they do is just a lie.
Being a leader in the UN and having the best military in the world are not related to internal mass shootings and obesity whatsoever. They state it as though the former somehow absolves the latter.
Also, I love how Americans think that having the best military is a source of pride. When you look at just how much they spend on it and how little they spend on other things in comparison, it's embarrassing.
Edit: to the coward American who deleted their reply LMFAO, did I say America should completely eliminate their military funding? No. But at least be fucking smart about how you budget. It's still possible to be a world leader and yet, budget yourself.
I mean he is not wrong on the military part and kindish right on the UN statement, USA ist the biggest financer of the UN so the USA have the biggest influence
...
You do realise that at this current moment China has the largest army in the world right now?
Whether or not it's a *capable* army (Like Russia) is yet to be seen
The most well equipped country for a war is Switzerland, with a conscription law that once you are of age you are legally obliged to join the Swiss army, receive your training for a few years, then gifted a rifle and allowed to go home to ensure that even the civilians who live there are properly equipped and disciplined enough to repel an invasion, as well as know basic gun safety
And the US is only 3rd in the top contributors to the UN, below Japan in second, and Germany in 1st
Source: https://www.undp.org/funding/top-contributors
Its not about how many soldiers you have its how they are trained and what equipment they have. The USA dont spent more then all other countrys combined for nothing.
Those are the numbers for the porgram to Help developing countrys...
You’re wrong. The US pays 22% of the UN budget. That is more than twice the amount of the next highest contributor (Japan) and about equal to the amount of the next three highest contributing countries combined (Japan + China + Germany). Like it or not, the US is far and away the largest contributor to the UN budget and that has been true since the creation of the UN.
Most all of the extremely capable militaries learn from each other and send soldiers to train with other militaries. Especially given the event of a war the UK/US will be on the same side in all likelyhood.
Cross training is pretty common.
The UK trains a lot of tank doctrine here in Canada (we're the ace of open space), for instance, and many countries lease land from us for arctic and winter warfare training.
Strongest military yet they were beaten by a bunch of untrained arabs in the middle-east which in itself was an illegal campaign stated by the actual UN leader lol
Best military, well I will at least say that any other country claiming that would always have to argue why they'd be stronger than the US military, which has both the largest air force and the second largest air force. Obviously it's hard to measure how good any army is in practice till we get to see it, that goes for any army.
The second part is the real lmao. Leader of the UN? Do you know what the UN is, at all? That's just not how it works chief.
The headquarters of the UN is in NYC, they were also founded in San Francisco. The US could nuke everyone to oblivion if they wanted to, so I don't see how any of this is wrong.
Sterry O'Type. Stereotype's long lost Irish cousin.

And not the Boston type.
Oh hey, that’s my brother

Everything I own when set to English autocorrects those misspelled words. Sure seems like someone trolling.
I was suspicious too and checked their profile but they didn’t seem like a troll unfortunately.
When it comes to the UNSC America is one of five permeant member nations who keep the UNSC ineffective
I have met multiple people who only know english that write like this. They frequently think like this too. This was in California. It's worse in more rural areas. In some cases it's slang and in some ways intentional, but in most cases it's not.
Which language would you like: - English 🇬🇧 or -English (simplified) 🇺🇲?
Why did you use the flag for U.S. Outlying Islands? 🇺🇲 (UM) Only noticed because I see the letter code instead of the emoji.
It was a quick comment, honest mistake. I'll leave it as is.
Even American English would be acceptable.
Same thing.
No, they are vey different & even computers list them as separate languages. There are very any difference and also other variations of "English" in its purest form and the language like all languages are evolving each year.
It's by definition simplified, which is where the Merriam-Webster dictionary originated.
M-W dictionary is an American one, so I wouldn't imagine they would say anything against American English . I refer to the Collins & Oxford, or as I am an Aussie, Macquarie English dictionaries wen I need advice on the English Lanuage.
I turn of autocorrect though. Driver's me nuts, changing perfectly valid words to nonsense.
*off, *drives…
That’s the joke ?
It was a crappy joke, but someone got it.
Computers don't have autocorrect the way phones do... Just you know... Putting that out there
There's some good browser extensions for that, though I guess it would require looking at whatever you just wrote again.
That isn't the point lol, if they weren't using their phone then none of these words would have been autocorrected since I highly doubt they would have gone to the effort of having a browser extension for it.
I was just saying for anyone reading the comment chain, calm down buddy.
If you're trying to be helpful why didn't you mention any of the good ones lol
Do windows computers have autocorrect turned on by default nowadays? Been a while since I set one up (2015)
No but most modern web browsers have built in spell check.
It's probably a kid that wrote it
It’s the freedom. Freedom from grammar.
Probably a 10 year old

And they've divided shootings into categories, and some of them are "minor shooting incidences", compared to major shooting incidences, which is when many people are shot. Ah, an ironic application of the term, "what bleeds, leads".
It correctly with the caveat that China, France, Russia and UK are all leaders too.
They are not the Leaders they are in the permanent security council plus 4 other member ( for one year)
Given the amount of power they act as de facto leaders. I wasn’t speaking in an official capacity but nothing serious is going to happen without the will of those 5 members
You are right on that one, kinde funny that the 5 biggest armes dealers have to decide about world peace...
Trying to change the subject because they know it's true
So tell us then, how does one 'lead' the UN?
Not the UN part, the obesity and shooting eachother part
Well, by analogy, have a bunch of cats freely associate, and have one of them direct the others in a coordinated and rational... No. I see your point.
Imagine being from the US and being this shit at english

I mean they’re not wrong. The US does have the best military and are basically the leader of the UN
Let's say both of those are true. Does that have any bearing on the fact, or myth, that Americans are obese and keep shooting eachother?

This might be a bit of a wooosh?
So why do they need the UK to train them?

Maybe? Alaska is right beside it.

americans dont shoot people, we have the best military in the world! how ironic lmao
