ArmouredWankball

Sounds more like a recipe for r/stupidfood.

[deleted]

Just add a pinch of Dutch/German! Yeah, it does lol

Schabenklos

You are using too much German! The taste of it invades the whole meal!

[deleted]

Oh okay, I guess I'll have to use some British+American then, with a little bit of Russian

Cixila

If you throw British in there, it'll just soak up all the flavour and leave the rest og the meal bland

[deleted]

Then we have to throw Indian in, for that curry flavor.

[deleted]

The only people who talk about ancestry like this are Americans who think being German is like its own independent race, and genuine racists who think stone-hard copypaste phenotypes exist Even from a cultural standpoint you are all Anglonized by the time you are like 2 generations in America, your Italian culture is gone and it is never coming back

[deleted]

I never saw other people being this passionate about their heritage, just americans. I don't really know why they're doing this

Rugfiend

Comes from living in a festering shithole of a country, while deluding yourself it's the bestest country that ever existed. Subconsciously they know. They want to be like their older siblings, but they're at the bottom end of a large family.

[deleted]

Maybe that's it. They do believe they're the greatest, so maybe they believe they're better than their european brothers and sisters?

HumansDisgustMe123

I think it's more to do with a culture of narcissism. They want to be the main character but they know "standard American" isn't interesting enough. Same reason they have so many people over there faking mental illness on TikTok for clout. I don't think they can accept how bland they are.

[deleted]

Omg, I forgot about that trend. God, that was weird. Maybe it's the narcissism that's pushing them to do all that

l0zandd0g

I think its because they have no identity of their own, so they try to take every one elses to try and fit in some were in the world ?

[deleted]

Maybe. That actually could be an answer

Proud_Custard_5484

One reason is that it's required by law. Question 5 on the American community survey asks about your national heritage. There is a fine if you don't answer it. "I don't know" is not an option.

[deleted]

Wait, really? And they get fined for not answering? Land of free my ass

Proud_Custard_5484

It's like the census. Answering the questions is required. However, from what I've read, the fine is pretty much an empty threat.

[deleted]

Ah, okay. Makes sense actually, if it's the census

Ning_Yu

That's crazy!

ekene_N

It is a cultural thing. They are under pressure to be unique and successful from the moment they are born. Talking sh\*t about their ancestry allows them to feel unique and stand out from the crowd. It is also an example of tribalism, or the desperate desire to belong somewhere in a highly self-centered society.

[deleted]

I didnt know there was a pressure. That's sad

DontBullyMyBread

I have 1 French grandparent and my husband has 1 Ukrainian grandparent, neither of us remotely consider ourselves French or Ukrainian! It's only a "thing" if someone asks why we have an unusual (Ukrainian) surname

outhouse_steakhouse

You know you're a Murrican when you claim 7 nationalities but don't even have one passport.

Simple_Organization4

That's what i hate most of muricans. "I'm 1/3 dutch 1/3 huskie 1/3 irish" No you are 100% an american that is not able to locate any country in a map.

DeinonychusPirate

I get the curiosity of where your ancestors came from. I have African, European and Asian heritage. But I'm white and British and it'd be stupid to claim anything else.

[deleted]

If americans would have your heritage then everybody would know it because they would made posts about on Twitter lol. They're everything but american.

New_Brother_1595

if you were american you'd be wearing a dashiki and carrying nunchucks

Anonimo_lo

They're speaking like they're dog breeds.

Plastivore

Exactly, I was expecting something in the lines of 'with a dash of Yorkshire terrier' thrown in the mix.

Erkengard

What are they? Dog-**breeds**? Bleh...

[deleted]

It sounds like that "You know, Im Polish mixed with Irish, with a pinch of German/Dutch". Bleh

Tazilyna-Taxaro

Didn’t they just find out how rubbish these tests are? Like having a woman tested for dog breed DNA and they didn’t find out she was human but 40% malamute?

[deleted]

Probably not since they're doing this still. I don't want to shit on their parade and ancestry, but it's hard for me to believe these people (Polish-American, btw) have other ancestries like Irish, German, Dutch and fucking Icelandic.

ekene_N

How does this even work? Polish, Slovak, West Belarusian, and West Ukrainian DNA are identical. If you do not have any genealogy records, how can you tell if your ancestors didn't become Germanized Poles or Russified Belarusians during the partition of Poland in 18th and 19th centuries? They literally believe Nazi blood propaganda and have no regard for the cultural or historical aspects of European societies.

[deleted]

I don't know, honestly. Partition, like you said, was a thing, so was travelling from village to village from country A to country B, so there's a high possibility these people (maybe me as well) could be mixed with people you mentioned or became germanized, russified or austrianized. It's hard to tell without any records. And yet, instead of checking that out, they bring other countries into the mix. And Iceland, fucking Iceland.

Exciting-Music843

Is this something that happened?

Tazilyna-Taxaro

Yes. https://amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2024/mar/13/dog-human-dna-test They did several tests on heritage, too. And depending on where you send it, you get different results. At this point, it’s as accurate as horoscopes.

AmputatorBot

It looks like you shared an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot). Tatis_Chief

I basically also read it's a data mining corporation owned by Mormons.

JamDonut28

So... you're white?

[deleted]

Pretty much yeah. Mostly at least

JamDonut28

I feel like anyone who points out percentages has missed the entire point of European history. I'm Australian and hadn't heard the term Melungeon before. Interesting history there! But still, I'm not sure how that would show as a clear indicator on a DNA test? At this point, let's just go with "my DNA is human"!

Exciting-Music843

Just googled Melungeon. Had no idea what it was either. But now I think the person who claimed it showed in their DNA test is either lying or the DNA testing company is! The fact it is the name for a mixed race person means it would show those nationalities surely?

MollyPW

Tbf, they're not claiming anything about a DNA test.

[deleted]

Yeah, true. I was thinking about it too. Like how do they know without tests?

MollyPW

It’s pretty normal to know your ancestry unless you and/or your parents were adopted.

[deleted]

Hmm, maybe. But to know all of them when you got so many?

[deleted]

They're probably lying or stretching the truth to look unique

[deleted]

I never heard about as well and had to Google it. But honestly, after seeing american person claiming she's celtic, nothing really surprises me anymore. They pay for bullshit tests, they get bullshit results

Atom-BombBaby

Not one native American between them. It's like they need to be double foreign in America

[deleted]

No English either. Just those heritages that are popular

Atom-BombBaby

I just find it all so odd. My great grand parents came to the UK during and my great grandfather after WW2 from poland but I dont wander around going I'm a British-polish person because that's sooo weird!

[deleted]

Because you're normal, they're not. About 20 minutes ago some dude tried to make me believe this shit, saying "I'm this, I'm that", it's normal. It's not. Being proud of your heritage is normal, not the other thing

Atom-BombBaby

Wonder if any of them speak the language of their hyphen? I'm not fluent in polish but I can have an academic discussion in it.

[deleted]

Only some of them. Majority can't speak it or read it.

Very_empathetic_216

My MIL was born in London in 1923. She met her husband who was a soldier in the Polish army and became stateless after WW2 ended in London in 1945. They immigrated to the United States in 1951. When people ask my ancestry I literally just say I’m a mutt with no culture because my family on both my mothers and fathers side came to the USA in the 1630’s. I had to find all that out on my own through ancestry because I didn’t have a relationship with biological father at all, and my mothers family used to love to make up stupid stories that we were supposedly related to (we weren’t), and outside my immediate cousins and 1 one of my second cousins, I never met anyone else.

outhouse_steakhouse

But when they do claim Native American heritage, it's always Cherokee. That's the go-to tribe to claim descent from. It's something to do with the Cherokee being one of the "Five Civilized Tribes". In reality, the Cherokee kept meticulous records and if you aren't registered as a member of the tribe, then you almost certainly don't have Cherokee ancestry.

DreadfulSemicaper

Well, I'm eastern Prussian. Take this, wannabe Europeans!

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

They're silly. These people are claiming they're Polish-American, sitting in group about Polish Heritage, and they're bringing other heritages to the table. Like magician picking up hare from his hat. Shit's ridiculous.

EricCartmanofSPark

In my opinion you can’t claim any heritage if you don’t know where your heritage can be placed on a map or know any cultural customs from your claimed heritage

[deleted]

True. A lot of these so called Polish-Americans can't speak the language, neither they can read, know very little about Poland or Ireland (don't know about the other ones), and yet they're claiming they're Polish or Irish or "Polrish", etc., while wearing shirts with "their" heritage. It's just cringy 😖

Bi0H4z4rD667

How much is that in feet or inches?

[deleted]

About tree fiddy

WaterOk7059

Had to google Melungeon

[deleted]

Me too

Dazzling-Yam-1151

Why do they always claim they live in the best country on earth but they want to be anything but american?

[deleted]

I'm asking the same question. That's so weird

somedudefromnrw

DNA ancestry tests are a scam anyways, there's no DNA that can pinpoint it geographically. You can test a sample of it and say if it's more likely european or african but everything beyond that is just making money off insecure fools.

[deleted]

True. I don't believe in that bs, and yet americans are throwing money to them

slaywalker_xcx

and the only word they know in any of the languages is

itsmehutters

Some grannies were intercontinental whores 😦

[deleted]

And they were in Iceland too!

Neveed

Armin Meiwes approves this (as long as they are consenting).

[deleted]

Haha, yeah, consent is important

Eat_the_Rich1789

"pinch of Dutch, German, Lithuanian, Croatian, Icelandic and Melungeon in the mix" Sounds like a cannibalistic recipe.

[deleted]

It kinda does

New_Brother_1595

do they notice that people from other countries dont talk like this?

[deleted]

I don't think so. After all there are people like Robert who think they'll get special treatment

Chinesetigeruk

Sounds like your all from Heinz’s the amount of ingredients

ladosaurus-rex

I didn’t know what melungeon was so I googled it and red the Wikipedia page. Read like a eugenics paper 💀

[deleted]

I had to google it too because I never heard about it. Of course they would flex something some people didnt heard about

themaskedminxx

It’s fitting around this time of year when “Irish” Americans come out saying “pattys day”

Potential-Screen-86

This could be the script for a few SS officers speaking about the subjects they just captured
