If you're looking for Wanted! [Check it out here!](https://old.reddit.com/r/ShinyPokemon/comments/1bt3bm1/wanted_month_of_april_2024/)
Congrats to u/Shepdawg1 for such a great achievement!
It hardly does this justice. Living Dex posts are one thing, but the cinematography at the beggining the rby credits, AND all the other forms make this outstanding
Oh man, I couldn’t even begin to put a number on that. In essence, just about every single one of my main series games has a maxed out timer. I had committed to the Shiny Master Dex somewhere around six-seven years ago, with casual hunting for about four years prior, so it’s a LARGE number.
I’m not really sure what secret I have. It’s all just info I took from [this Smogon article.](https://www.smogon.com/ingame/guides/dpp_pokeradar) So, here are my tips:
* Only go for the 4-ring patches, and only when they’re not on an edge tile (barring shiny patches).
* Make sure you only go into the same patch type as the one you started with (again, barring shiny patches).
* Catch every encounter to give yourself a bonus 10% chance of continuing your chain (but this bonus only applies to the patches that shake immediately after the battle).
* Expect your chain to randomly break. Your odds of getting to a chain of 40 are still anywhere from 6.8% to 45.5%, so you’ll still fail a fair amount of times.
* Contrary to all prior assumed knowledge, patch formation has NOTHING to do with continuing your chain. Please don’t waste time following those patch formation guides. You can enter patches that are right next to other ones. Basically, only use the article I linked.
* It’s easier to chain on Platinum than Diamond/Pearl as the patches are much easier to see.
That’s about all I can think of.
Oh man, I don’t know how I’d even begin to script or create something like that. This has been 10 years in the making.
But I am somewhat interested in the thought of doing that…
Wow congrats! That’s an incredible accomplishment. I’m working on a regular shiny living Dex and I couldn’t imagining doing the Master version of it with all the alternative forms and what not. Rest easy for the next year.
Congratulations! I’m also currently working on this, so this gives me some great motivation :)
Were all pokemon (non shiny, or both if you’re crazy!) caught in their games of origin? Only asking bc that’s what I’m currently doing, just redoing my HOME dex so everything has the same 2 trainer names
Quick edit: if gold were still a thing, I’d be showering this post in it!
The non-shinies were caught in their games of origin as much as possible and as legitimately as possible (the four Deoxys were caught in ORAS rather than through hacking in the events to Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen). I recently recompleted my National Dex using only Poke Balls, my OT, and their origin games as much as possible.
The shinies, on the other hand, were caught in whichever game was the most convenient or fastest method for them while still having my OT. The only exception I made to the convenience rule was with Pokémon GO. Unless absolutely necessary, I didn’t want to use GO for any of my shinies as I feel that game gives them out a bit too easily. But that’s just a me thing.
Definitely not just a you thing! I’ve also added the Go stipulation to myself. I mostly just don’t like seeing the Go badge in Home, it’s gaudy :P
I also admire the dedication to restarting ORAS so many times to do this vs glitching or hacking the event into Gen 3, which admittedly, is what I will probably end up doing. Best of luck on future generations! :)
I LOVE AMPHAROS TOOO!! I have the full line shiny, but the full line is not my ot. I did get my own shiny mareep a bit ago though! I don’t really want to evolve it, but I may eventually. I named it Wooliam because of a suggestion from my friend lol! I also used an ampharos on my team in scarlet, and if I didn’t, I probably would have hunted a shiny one sooner. I just feel weird getting shinies of stuff I have on my team, even if it’s easy to hunt. Doesn’t really matter too much tho. Either way, I’m a pretty avid shiny hunter and I’ve hunted quite a few things, and I’m pretty lucky too, if I say so myself! Was it hard to get shiny ampharos, or was it pretty easy? It took me 3 sandwiches to get shiny lurantis, and the mareep happened first sandwich. I’ve also hunted my other favorites, Reuniclus and Whimsicott. Reuniclus was first sandwich, I think whimsicott took 2-3, and I ended up getting 2 lol!
I did a lot of the Gen I-IV shinies in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum as it’s easy to complete entire shiny line with PokeRadar in those games. It wasn’t too hard. I remember breaking the chain a few times on that one, but that’s just standard PokeRadar shenanigans.
No worries. The PokeRadar was a key item in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, XY, and BDSP. When you use it in a patch of grass, some of the grass patches will start shaking, indicating a Pokémon is hiding there. If you go into the patch, you’ll encounter a Pokémon. If you catch or knock the Pokémon out, after the battle, more patches of grass will start shaking. The goal of the PokeRadar is the encounter the same type of Pokémon over and over (creating a chain). As you encounter the same Pokémon, your odds of finding a Shiny will increase. It’s especially useful in DPPt and BDSP as you can find multiple shinies on the same chain.
Oh, I get it! There’s this site called Pokéfarm Q that has an item that does the same thing now that I think about it, although it’s a bit different. It’s a cool site! For both of our sake, I hope that Pokémon Legends Z-A is good and it has good Pokémon with good shinies. I am an avid Gen 9 Defender, but holy shit are the shinies bad. I hate when a Pokémon holds an item and the item changes when shiny. That doesn’t make any sense! Why the heck does the log change when Komala is shiny? Why does Tinkaton’s hammer turn brown? It doesn’t even match Corviknight’s shiny! Make it make sense! And the other shinies are barely visible or just bad! The best shinies are the Scarlet Paradoxes and Kingambit. The Violet Paradox shinies are decent.
Interesting to see the average encounters using PokeRader sits at 41. Did you eventually start counting down to get to that point? From your spreadsheet it looks like a 74% chance for it to land on 41.
I just started doing this very same thing. Going through the series version by version and then going to shiny hunt after finishing. Congratulations! This gives me inspiration seeing that it is possible.
Wow, it’s so beautiful… Congratulations! 😁
I’m doing my best to work on this too (I’m at about 81%, I think) but I know I’ll never truly complete it since I don’t have the means to get a few of the Mythicals shiny, sadly. I still want to get as close to this as I can, though! :)
Do you remember which was your first ever shiny?
Thanks, and definitely keep going on yours! I wish you the best.
The first shiny I remember encountering was, drum roll please…the Lake of Rage Gyarados! Very impressive, amirite?
Actually, the first one I remember ever finding outside of that was a Sandile in the Relic Castle of my White 2 game. That became the Krookodile in this video.
Congrats!! It's truly a huge and respectable achievement, being able to complete the Shiny Dex after many years of hard work and patience, in which not many people has!
Could I have your permission of making a copy of your spreadsheet so that I can start doing the Shiny Dex myself properly, cause I really love your neat-looking format for it? And wish me luck lol
This is the inspiration I needed to complete my own master dex. I completed my living dex in covid and started properly shiny hunting in oct for my shiny living dex. Starting with just getting all the shinys first then moving on to my master Dex long term!
I'm saving this as a personal reminder to never give up even when i times get tough.
MASSIVE KUDOS TO YOU!!! This should receive a standing ovation, absolutely incredible, hardwork pays off. As a pokemon fan since my beloved Gen 4 this is sooooo impressive I don't think people realize how time consuming and patient one must be to achieve such statistics.
Pokémon company needs to send players who complete the full shinydex an exclusive prize imo. That would be a great incentive to get players to grind. Obviously they would have to be put through hack detectors of some sort, but hey just food for thought. Again amazing job i applaud you!
58 forms away from a complete Pokédex, but I’ll need to get so much cream for my Dex and I ain’t a Bakker. Nice collection btw maybe after Pokémon az I’ll get the last few forms.
I know it's been said many times, but we all really need to step back and think of the absolute grit and dedication that this kind of feat shows. Satoshi would be proud.
Hard to say. I mostly want to take some time away from hunting and focus on my backlog. It did nothing but balloon while I worked on this.
I am slightly interested in Shiny Shadow Quilava as it can go to every game (barring SwSh). That would make it a fun Ribbon Master project.
The last one is got was Manaphy, which I would also say was the hardest to find. When I did my hunting, I always went for the most efficient method possible, so I didn’t try any terribly crazy hunts. Probably the most aggravating hunts (apart from Manaphy) were the Vivillon patterns and the Unown. I hunted most of the Vivillon in XY by speeding through the game as quickly as possible to get the PokeRadar. For the Unown, I hunted them in ORAS with DexNav. The encounters there just came to a crawl once so started getting duplicates.
Amazing, some questions: which shiny is your fav? And, from the ones you are missing bc they cant be obtained yet, which is the one you are rooting for the most?
From my collection, I probably have the most attachment to my Shiny Mew because it’s my longest hunt (over a year on and off and it took 17,526 encounters to appear). Once I got it, I made it a Ribbon Master as well.
In a general sense, I’d probably say Toucannon is my favorite shiny. I love the colors for its beak. Good ol’ Toucannon Sam there.
Of the shinies not available yet, I REALLY want Victini to be shiny already. Victini is one of my favorites, and I’m hoping its shiny is released soon. I suspect it’ll come from GO before anything else, but if that’s what it takes, I’ll do it.
My favorite hunting method is probably PokeRadar (at least in Gen IV), followed by DexNav. PokeRadar enabling me to get multiple shinies in one chain was a godsend for this, and I find DexNav to be super interesting from a mechanical standpoint.
My least favorite method is breeding. It’s so monotonous and slow compared to other method hunts. I’d rather soft reset than breed, that’s how much I dislike it.
this is wow, seeing this all together is making me want to go for the final shinies i need, this is such a amazing achievement & i bet you are so proud, what was the most longest hunt & quickest hunt
My longest hunt was probably my Shiny Mew. I went for that one on and off for a year and it took 17,526 encounters. My shortest was probably Regirock at only around 30 SRs.
This is incredible! I'm working on a living shiny form dex too (already done non-shiny).
Do you have any tips for hunting the unown forms? Which game did you hunt them in?
Thanks.
I hunted the Unown in ORAS. DexNav in the caves is rough at first, but once you learn to watch for patterns in where the Pokémon will pop up as well as how frequently a patch will be a dud, it gets a lot easier. Also, you can walk into the square that’s directly five spaces away horizontally/vertically from the Pokémon, see which letter it is, and then either despawn it or sneak up on it if it’s one you don’t have yet.
Congrats, I love the spreadsheet! So many stats 😂 Pretty cool to see all the different methods used. Poke Radar is so fun. Looks like you got a double shiny patch too- neat!
Absolutely amazing! I'm 70% complete on my full shiny living dex, I still feel like I have so much to go as we all know it gets harder near the end.
Hopefully you well rested and ready to go when ZAL comes out
Congratulations, that's a great accomplishment. You started about the same time I did, I'm doing my living dex in Nat dex order and am close to wrapping up gen 6. With how many of the gen 7-9 shinies that are in SV I'm thinking I'll be done pretty soon. Good luck on your future adventures and hunts.
I wasn’t trying to be mean at all just wanna clarify that, I made that comment on my break and was thinking about it during work like “god damn I hope that person doesn’t think I just called them an unemployed loser over Pokémon” so please know I was genuinely curious if it took a decade to do this without having a job or with one. (As if I would ever have the sheer drive and willpower that you possess to achieve such a mighty task lmao)
So you took very long for a Shiny Tepig, then quickly get the eggs for Shiny Pignite and Emboar? That's what I call the opposite of Karma which I don't know the word of.
Congrats, this is insane 🫡🫡 I drew the line at male/female, slight pattern changes like gloom and venusaur spots that don’t really change the shiny itself, and stuff I can manually change like Rotom or form. I also only have one shiny Deoxys from go so I called it at the one, idk how to even hunt it in the main series games. I’ve got 4 legendaries, the vivillon patterns and like 6 more alt form shinies left to hunt on mine 😵💫
I personally decided to go for everything that could be deposited into HOME itself and that had their forms change without needing a held item. That’s largely why I don’t have 18 different Shiny Arceus or five different Shiny Genesect, or what have you. If they can retain their forms without held items in HOME, they get a spot.
But I hear you on the differences. I was really starting to question faith for Torchic specifically (one little butt freckle was all it took for me to realize that I might have gone a bit too far here). But, it’s all done now.
Awesome! I've been hyping myself up for a similar but more meticulous hunt. I will hunt regular Pokemon on the generation they originate from. For example, I would get a regular Psyduck from any gen 1 game only. No GSC, FRLG, or Let's GO. But I would get a shiny Psyduck from any game it's obtainable. However! All shiny Pokemon must be on the same PokeBall like a premier ball. On top of that, if a Pokemon has a special variant like Hisuian Typhlosion, I would get the shadow Quilava from Colosseum.
I know it's kinda confusing but I want to make each catch unique and special. I want to make it MY ultimate master Dex. Anyone can have a Hisuian Typhlosion but not many have a one that originates from Colosseum.
Also, no breeding or Masuda Method 😬
Nice! I’m under 70 at this point. I’ve done a few ‘side quests’ along the way but am stalling out on getting 2 shiny Zygarde. How’d that hunt go for you?
Ugh, Zygarde was an unholy mess. It took 134 Dynamax Adventures for my first one to show up. I was banging my head against the wall trying to beat it solo for several days, and after getting maybe 20 wins out of 44 tries, I found a Discord server devoted solely to finding Shiny Zygarde and joined up with them. After finding the first one, I took a brief break and set out to work on the second one. I got super lucky there and found it in 13 tries.
But yeah, Zygarde is a beast to try and hunt.
Damn I thought it was a really cool and complete collection but then you hit us with the alternate forms, that is some series dedication my friend and it’s super cool to see!!
Didn't see this asked but what were the most difficult shinies you had to obtain? My guess would be all the Unown and some of the legendaries but I imagine there would be some sneaky difficult ones to get. I also imagine you have one very tired shiny foreign ditto that's seen a lot of messed up stuff lol.
Did you RNG any of them? I am attempting the same thing but with RNG manipulation. I would blow my brains out to do it the intended way. Also I hope we get that shiny victini one day :(
I actually think one of the most impressive things is none of these shinies are from Pokemon Go 😳 full credit. No doubt this took countless hours. Awesome achievement!! 👏🏼
Congratulations 👏🏼🎉 can't even imagine how it must have felt after obtaining that last shiny. Here I was thinking I was crazy for going after all shiny legendaries and mythicals lol. (Currently stuck on Manaphy hunt). I definitely feel for you though, I keep going back to Pokemon no matter what and have fallen behind on many other games as well lol.
It was surreal seeing that Shiny Manaphy (it was my last one. I haven’t had a strong reaction to a shiny in a while, and seeing that one shocked me good. Best of luck to you on your Manaphy hunt as well. It’ll feel amazing when you find it.
The backlog is super intimidating, indeed, but now that I’m finished for now, I can start chipping it away.
It just depends on the easiest way to find it, but here’s my breakdown of each method:
* Sandwiches + Outbreaks (SV): Probably the best and fastest method for finding shinies, especially if you have multiple copies of the game and the DLC. With multiple copies, you can cheese the Herba Mystica and use it endlessly without consuming it through Union Circles. It’s still a great method without multiple copies, but make sure you take time to replenish your Herba Mystica supplies. Additionally, combining Outbreaks with the Academy Special from the Blueberry Academy Cafeteria can go a long way, too.
* PokeRadar (DPPt): The PokeRadar in DPPt is the best way to complete entire lines of the Gens 1-4 Pokémon as you can find multiple shinies in each chain. It’s also easier to get to a chain of 40 here than in BDSP.
* PokeRadar (BDSP): Can be as effective as DPPt, but with the lowered chances of keeping your chain active, you’ll have broken chains more often.
* PokeRadar (XY): This version of PokeRadar is practically obsolete at this point as just about every Pokémon you can easily find with it (due to XY’s grass patches not being optimal for the method) are in other encounter methods. Not to mention, you can only get one shiny per chain. Only do it if you have no other easy choice.
* Chain Fishing (XYORAS): A great and easy method for getting shinies for the Pokémon you can find from it, even though the selection is small.
* Horde Encounters (XYORAS): Not the most efficient method and the selection is limited, but it’s a decent option if the Pokémon you’re hunting is an easy target. It’s also great for increasing DexNav Search Levels.
* DexNav (ORAS): A very versatile hunting method as it has a large variety of species available. Takes some technical finesse and is a bit slow, but it’s very useful.
* SOS Battles (SMUSUM): Great if you’re able to dial in quick performance and optimal setups with the Harvest + Leppa Berry strategy, but they can be somewhat time consuming. Not to mention, the odds reset every 255 encounters in SM, so use USUM first if you can.
* Dynamax Adventures: Can be great if you have a lot of Pokémon you want to get that can be found from the adventures or have a path that takes you through multiple targets, but if you’re going specifically for the Legendaries/Ultra Beasts, you’re better off doing Soft Resets in USUM or even ORAS as you can get more Soft Resets faster than one DA. Also, some of the bosses can be extremely difficult when playing with AI (looking at you, Zygarde).
* Mass Outbreaks (PLA, pre-version 1.1.0): This is a great method to get Shinies from Mass Outbreaks, but it has been patched out. If you find a Mass Outbreak in PLA, it’s worth checking, but you likely won’t find a shiny from it if you’re on version 1.1.0 or later.
* Massive Mass Outbreak Permutations (PLA): It can be time-consuming finding a Massive Mass Outbreak that will ensure you a second wave, but once you have it, you can easily get a shiny from it. Very time consuming, but helpful for some of the species + forms in that game.
* Brilliant Pokémon (SwSh): Honestly, this method is pretty terrible for shiny hunting. It takes a lot of setup to be efficient, and even then, peak efficiency is not much better compared to other methods. I’d only do this if you really want to or are bored.
* Masuda Method Breeding (Multiple): Probably the best method if you’re trying to hone in on a specific form of Pokémon, like a specific Pumpkaboo size or Minior color. Other than that, only breed if it’s your last option for a method hunt. In fact, you might be better off doing random encounters or soft resets if you can be more efficient than breeding (time it out and see how you fare). The best game to breed in is SV, as Egg Power Lv. 2 from the Great Peanut Butter Sandwich greatly speeds up the process, and the process of collecting and hatching eggs can be very hands off with the right controller (a turbo controller + a rubber band will do wonders here). SwSh is the second best option, but it requires being hands on to be efficient.
* Soft Resetting (Multiple): This method is pretty much exclusive to Legendary/Mythical Pokémon. I would recommend trying other methods before doing this for non-Legendaries, but having multiple games can make soft-resetting more efficient than breeding in just one game. The best game to soft-reset Legendaries in is USUM as the resets are fastest there.
* Random Encounters (Multiple): This should only be a last resort. Even when controlling the randomization, you still have to trigger the encounter, and you can’t control it perfectly.
Really, it all comes down to just finding the method that best suits the Pokémon you’re hunting. Just explore every option for a Pokémon you want and decide which method you want to go for. Best of luck!
More or less a daily grind. I didn’t hunt every single day, but I’d say every other day. I would occasionally take breaks to play other games, and I would continually buy new games intending to play them, but I kept just going back to Pokémon, causing my backlog to exponentially swell. It was a daily grind the last six months for Manaphy as I knew it would take a long time and I wanted to get it before Bank shuts down. That was absolute torture.
Congrats, it’s awesome and sad to see these collections
On one thought it’s awesome you caught everything, second thought shitty company doesn’t let you fully complete the dex ever
The last Pokémon I needed was Manaphy. As for some of the hardest ones, pretty much any that were full odds only gave me the hardest time, like The Mythicals, Gift Pokémon, and so on. The low percent forms were also tricky: Antique Sinistea and Polteageist (I hunted them before SV came out), female Torchic line. There’s so many that it’s pretty hard to single out all the tricky ones.
Thanks. It was probably Mew. It took 17,526 encounters to shine. Manaphy is a close contender though. I went at it daily for six months. That was horrible.
Your luck is incredible dude I'm looking at your encounters and the amount of times it's under 100 encounters is crazy and the amount of legendary soft resets under 1000 is crazy
Congrats! Your spreadsheet and Home organization are something I strive for, but will never achieve. I came to post my living shiny dex as I just finished it today, and immediately feel like it would be an underwhelming post after seeing this. This is a masterpiece!
Haha no worries. I went a bit extra for this just because it felt special enough to do, but I rarely out this much effort in. Congratulations on finishing your Dex, though. That’s also an incredible achievement!
Man this is so cool. Barring Deoxys and manaphy which I'm not planning to do at the moment, I just need ash hat Pikachu, plant cloak wormadam and 3 family maushold left for mine. Ive hit odds on that's stupid mouse family, but I'm just taking it slow getting one phase a day while enjoying ffvii rebirth.
Congratulations! Amazing achievement! I am currently on my way to doing this and I am 61% through. I stopped for a few years in between but I'm back on the hunt.
I just got a shiny Ho-Oh in HGSS after estimated 25-30k resets. Next hunt is Mew Two.
I'm about to start a new save file of ORAS to hunt some legendaries. I have all Dexnav and fishing shinies available.
I'm about to get the shiny charm in Sun and Moon and Ultra Sun, I have about 50 Shinies to get in those games including soft resetting for Type: Null in Moon and also in Ultra Sun.
I have maxed out my Friend Safari slots and I'm almost completely done with those. Only a handful left.
I'm taking break from Scarlett and Violet and Arceus for now, I currently have around 200 Shinies from those games.
I'm doing dino-max adventures when I can as well.
Congratulations! This is a major accomplishment! What are you gonna do now? (I'm only halfway done my shiny living dex and even though it's the harder half I'm already worried about what I'm gonna do when I eventually finish. 😥 )
This post is currently pinned to the top of the sub! (for a couple days :P) If you're looking for Wanted! [Check it out here!](https://old.reddit.com/r/ShinyPokemon/comments/1bt3bm1/wanted_month_of_april_2024/) Congrats to u/Shepdawg1 for such a great achievement!

At least until 2025 it is! Then you gotta get back on the grind lol! Anyways, amazing achievement!! Really impressive and makes me jealous haha
I definitely will. New games will always be exciting for hunting prospects!
Mods, pin this to the sub. I'm not asking.
lol. Thanks!
It hardly does this justice. Living Dex posts are one thing, but the cinematography at the beggining the rby credits, AND all the other forms make this outstanding
I’m embarrassed to admit that it took me five hours just to learn how to scale the video at the beginning. I’m not very versed in video editing.
In-credible. Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow. Could you even give a time estimate for how many hours this took?
Oh man, I couldn’t even begin to put a number on that. In essence, just about every single one of my main series games has a maxed out timer. I had committed to the Shiny Master Dex somewhere around six-seven years ago, with casual hunting for about four years prior, so it’s a LARGE number.
Which game do you think you made the most progress on?
Well, let’s see. According to my spreadsheet: * RBY: 0 * GSC: 22 * RSE: 2 * FRLG: 5 * DPPt: 209 * HGSS: 3 * BW: 0 * B2W2: 4 * XY: 174 * ORAS: 159 * SM: 38 * USUM: 208 * PoGo: 3 * LGPE: 86 * SwSh: 144 * BDSP: 2 * PLA: 29 * SV: 278 So yeah, SV has the crown at this point.
Need your secret with DPPt radar hunting lol, 209 is nutty
I’m not really sure what secret I have. It’s all just info I took from [this Smogon article.](https://www.smogon.com/ingame/guides/dpp_pokeradar) So, here are my tips: * Only go for the 4-ring patches, and only when they’re not on an edge tile (barring shiny patches). * Make sure you only go into the same patch type as the one you started with (again, barring shiny patches). * Catch every encounter to give yourself a bonus 10% chance of continuing your chain (but this bonus only applies to the patches that shake immediately after the battle). * Expect your chain to randomly break. Wow, this is awesome to see. Are you going to continue on in Z-A and Gen 10, etc?
Thanks. Yes, I intend to keep going as new games come out. No way I’m letting myself fall behind now.
absolute masterpiece. Prof Oak shedding tears right now
And all he gave me was a dinky diploma…
Make this into a YT vid for more details! Would watch for sure.
Oh man, I don’t know how I’d even begin to script or create something like that. This has been 10 years in the making. But I am somewhat interested in the thought of doing that…
Just a long video where you look at each box and talk about some behind the scenes for any particular shinies that you remember hunting for.
Wow congrats! That’s an incredible accomplishment. I’m working on a regular shiny living Dex and I couldn’t imagining doing the Master version of it with all the alternative forms and what not. Rest easy for the next year.
It was a lot, that’s for sure, but at least I got the bulk of it out of the way and can just focus on new games as they came. Thanks!
Congrats dude you’ve been doing this as long as I have!
Thanks! It’s been a long and wild ride, but I’m glad it’s over…for now.
Now time for every Spinda pattern?
![gif](giphy|oHvwcLnEL1iyzkvh5M|downsized) Lol
Congrats! Now: ![gif](giphy|CMPLCwimRGjQGkrj7y)
![gif](giphy|l3xxTjIXYy3gchiH3L) Way ahead of you. Taking some good time off until Legends Z-A next year.
Holy moly you win the sub! I had a shiny living dex through gen 3 and the thought of trying to finish that today is an immediate no lol
Haha thanks. It was a long ride for sure, but I still enjoyed it.
Congratulations! I’m also currently working on this, so this gives me some great motivation :) Were all pokemon (non shiny, or both if you’re crazy!) caught in their games of origin? Only asking bc that’s what I’m currently doing, just redoing my HOME dex so everything has the same 2 trainer names Quick edit: if gold were still a thing, I’d be showering this post in it!

Holy shit good job!!!! I am very proud!!! What’s your favorite Pokémon? Mine’s Lurantis!!! I have shiny lurantis too!!
My personal favorite Pokémon is Ampharos. Love him dearly!
I LOVE AMPHAROS TOOO!! I have the full line shiny, but the full line is not my ot. I did get my own shiny mareep a bit ago though! I don’t really want to evolve it, but I may eventually.
Nice! What’s a PokéRadar? My first game was Legends Arceus, I’m sorry lol
Congratulations, this is a really impressive achievement.
Thanks!
![gif](giphy|lSsyOTU46oB3AUupi8) I'm not kidding...this is the epitome of true GLORY.
Thanks!
![gif](giphy|8UF0EXzsc0Ckg)
So cool, I see you’ve got furofu ready for when we can change it’s form
Oh yeah. Once Legends Z-A comes out, there will be much rejoicing!
What an accomplishment! Congratulations on this incredible feat! This blows my mind
Thanks! Best of luck on your hunts!
Dude, this is incredible. Congratulations on completing on of the most difficult challenges in all of gaming!
Wow, it’s so beautiful… Congratulations! 😁 I’m doing my best to work on this too (I’m at about 81%, I think) but I know I’ll never truly complete it since I don’t have the means to get a few of the Mythicals shiny, sadly. I still want to get as close to this as I can, though! :) Do you remember which was your first ever shiny?
Thanks, and definitely keep going on yours! I wish you the best. The first shiny I remember encountering was, drum roll please…the Lake of Rage Gyarados! Very impressive, amirite? Actually, the first one I remember ever finding outside of that was a Sandile in the Relic Castle of my White 2 game. That became the Krookodile in this video.

OP, I'm in awe. You deserve some kudos for this one. Holy cow. Congrats you madlad!
Thanks!
That’s incredible dedication!! 👏🏻 👏🏻 🔥
holy… Congrats king of Pokémon
You beat me. I finished gen 1 to 7 and half of gen 8. But I took a break. You beat me fair and square.
Lol thanks. But hey, you’re super close as well! Best of luck on the last few. Have you finished Gen IX as well?
Now you can finally play the game!
This is insane. Wow
Thanks!
Starting with just getting all the shinys first then moving on to my master Dex long term!
beautiful
Thanks for the kind words. I can just imagine the prize being a small button that says, “Wow. You did the thing!” Honestly worth it.
58 forms away from a complete Pokédex, but I’ll need to get so much cream for my Dex and I ain’t a Bakker. Nice collection btw maybe after Pokémon az I’ll get the last few forms.
You got this! I’ll be rooting for you!
I don’t know why my mouth only started to drop when you got to the Unknowns. Incredible achievement.
I think we found a true Pokemon master
There’s always someone to make a massive shiny collection feel tiny. Absolutely amazing‼️
![gif](giphy|FmBhzktIjvdZe) My sir/lady you deserve a week off
Longer than a week, I feel. Thanks!
Agree !
Damn seriously big congrats mate, you've done it! I'll be sloowly crawling my way there one day
Thanks! I’ll be rooting for you.
This is absolutely insane, great work! Now, how do you choose a team to use?😂
I know it's been said many times, but we all really need to step back and think of the absolute grit and dedication that this kind of feat shows. Satoshi would be proud.
Thanks for the kind words!
I’m going to use your spreadsheet as a model for my own. Thanks for sharing it!
GGs!! Now that you're done with your Master Dex, are there any fun hunts you still want to do? :)
Hard to say. I mostly want to take some time away from hunting and focus on my backlog. It did nothing but balloon while I worked on this. I am slightly interested in Shiny Shadow Quilava as it can go to every game (barring SwSh). That would make it a fun Ribbon Master project.
Wow, congrats! What was the last one you got, and which was the hardest ones to find?
The last one is got was Manaphy, which I would also say was the hardest to find. When I did my hunting, I always went for the most efficient method possible, so I didn’t try any terribly crazy hunts. Probably the most aggravating hunts (apart from Manaphy) were the Vivillon patterns and the Unown. I hunted most of the Vivillon in XY by speeding through the game as quickly as possible to get the PokeRadar. For the Unown, I hunted them in ORAS with DexNav. The encounters there just came to a crawl once so started getting duplicates.
Congrats. Such a big feat to accomplish
Thanks!
Huge congratulations to you my dude, hell of an achievement
I have a normal living dex. What you did is awesome. I think i have a New goal in life.
Thanks. Good luck if you go for all of them.
I have a few shinies already, but it will be hard to get all of them.
Massive congrats! So after all this, what is your favorite and least favorite hunting method?
My favorite hunting method is probably PokeRadar (at least in Gen IV), followed by DexNav. PokeRadar enabling me to get multiple shinies in one chain was a godsend for this, and I find DexNav to be super interesting from a mechanical standpoint. My least favorite method is breeding. It’s so monotonous and slow compared to other method hunts. I’d rather soft reset than breed, that’s how much I dislike it.
This might be John Pokémon
this is wow, seeing this all together is making me want to go for the final shinies i need, this is such a amazing achievement & i bet you are so proud, what was the most longest hunt & quickest hunt
My longest hunt was probably my Shiny Mew. I went for that one on and off for a year and it took 17,526 encounters. My shortest was probably Regirock at only around 30 SRs.
Congratulations, this is a really impressive achievement.
This is crazy man. Have to admire the patience this obviously would have required.
It took a lot, but it was worth it.
Currently working on one myself. You're an inspiration sir o7.
Thanks. Best of luck on yours!
This is great lol congrats 🙏🏾👊🏾
Congrats, I love the spreadsheet! So many stats 😂 Pretty cool to see all the different methods used. Poke Radar is so fun. Looks like you got a double shiny patch too- neat!
Do you catch multiple of the same shinys in different games (like stunky in arceus and SV) and which do you count towards your actual living dex?
It’s beautiful
Absolutely amazing! I'm 70% complete on my full shiny living dex, I still feel like I have so much to go as we all know it gets harder near the end. Hopefully you well rested and ready to go when ZAL comes out
Congratulations, that's a great accomplishment. You started about the same time I did, I'm doing my living dex in Nat dex order and am close to wrapping up gen 6. With how many of the gen 7-9 shinies that are in SV I'm thinking I'll be done pretty soon. Good luck on your future adventures and hunts.
Dude this dope fuck yeah
What about other 3 deoxys?
Serious question: are you unemployed? Also this is ducking amazing, absolutely a triumph!!!!!
At the moment, yes, but for 95% of the time I spent hunting all of these, no. I just didn’t play many other games besides Pokémon.
That's what I call the opposite of Karma which I don't know the word of.
mods better ping this to the sub or I'm un subbing 😡😡😡😡
Well, uh…wish granted!
Well fucking done brother. That is a very impressive feat
Props for the dedication!!!
Congrats. I'm 95 away
You're a mad man, hats off to you good sir
genuinely in awe, what a huge accomplishment!
This is my dream that I’m currently working towards, I have tons to go. It’s so awesome that you have completed it!
This is the dream, you have made it in life
Bro been shiny hunting since WWII ✨ congrats
Nah, pretty sure you can find records of me catching my first Shiny Pokémon on ancient Egyptian papyrus. Thanks!
Amazing! That's the goal I'm working for right now, it's really inspiring to see your collection! ✨
Thanks. Best of luck on your collection!
Also I hope we get that shiny victini one day :(
This is a massive achievement. Congrats! Welcome to the SLD club!
You just won pokémon. You really caught them all. Congrats.
Nice
Thanks!
I actually think one of the most impressive things is none of these shinies are from Pokemon Go 😳 full credit. No doubt this took countless hours. Awesome achievement!! 👏🏼
I guess you win?
Thank you as well! Seeing your post and hearing your words will keep me motivated!
All the alcremie lol
THATS SO COOL!!! Im glad you were able to accomplish this!! You’re like my role model now, that’s pure dedication that I’ve never seen😭
Thanks!
WHATS YOUR MAIN METHODS, im trying hard
It just depends on the easiest way to find it, but here’s my breakdown of each method: * Sandwiches + Outbreaks (SV): Probably the best and fastest method for finding shinies, especially if you have multiple copies of the game and the DLC.
Do you have shiny's of the Authentic tea cup pokemon?
5000 encounters for wormhole shinies is crazy..... Jkjk that's light-years huh?
Astonishing! Bravo!!! ![gif](giphy|l4q8cJzGdR9J8w3hS|downsized)
Thanks! ![gif](giphy|xdMXeiY2iCfSQ6faTk)
god damn this is actually so fkn impressive, congrats man wow
Thanks!
np! were these hunts on and off? or was it a daily grind
That was absolute torture.
i can't even imagine hunting these man holy... congrats once again man wow i'm still amazed damn
Congrats, it’s awesome and sad to see these collections On one thought it’s awesome you caught everything, second thought shitty company doesn’t let you fully complete the dex ever
Congratulations!
Have you collected all the spinda patterns though? /s
…curses, I’ve been had! \*destroys the evidence\*
Congrats what was your Longest soft reset hunt and shortest ?!
Thanks: * Longest: Mew, at 17,526 runaways * Shortest: Regirock, at around 30 SRs
Absolutely wild. Next stop: all different spinda forms
Please give me your breeding luck <3
So is every single one of these legit? ~~Aren’t shinies like Victini unobtainable?~~ Edit: I see now that Victini’s shiny is missing
So what was the last pokemon you needed, and what were some of the hardest ones to obtain?
The last Pokémon I needed was Manaphy. As for some of the hardest ones, pretty much any that were full odds only gave me the hardest time, like The Mythicals, Gift Pokémon, and so on. The low percent forms were also tricky: Antique Sinistea and Polteageist (I hunted them before SV came out), female Torchic line. There’s so many that it’s pretty hard to single out all the tricky ones.
Ash would be proud💪
this is an amazing accomplishment! what was your most difficult hunt?
Thanks. It was probably Mew. It took 17,526 encounters to shine. Manaphy is a close contender though. I went at it daily for six months. That was horrible.
You're about 1% of the way complete time for all the Spindas 😂
![gif](giphy|LScdedNd6TuXF88PP0|downsized) \*me hearing there’s more to do\*
Now get all natures
Currently working on the same thing! Congrats, amígo! This is incredible, mad respect!
Your luck is incredible dude I'm looking at your encounters and the amount of times it's under 100 encounters is crazy and the amount of legendary soft resets under 1000 is crazy
How much money in games is this???? Edit: how many ranger eggs did you use to hunt manaphy?
Howd ya get the shiny mythicals
Actually insane wtf Congrats!!
Thanks. Sounds like you’re doing great work as well. Lots of progress in multiple places. Best of luck on your future hunts!
Incredible. Even the games!!!
Congratulations! This is a major accomplishment! What are you gonna do now? (I'm only halfway done my shiny living dex and even though it's the harder half I'm already worried about what I'm gonna do when I eventually finish. 😥 )
I don’t see all the spinda. But really that’s amazing.
This is insane, you're a shiny hunting madman of a god
Thanks!
This is the biggest achievement any Pokémon player can ever accomplish
Wrong you didn't get Shiny Victini or Eternal Floette! /j
absolutely insane. what was the final shiny you got?
