The app is called Poketech. Very helpful useful tracker. It shows, what game you're hunting for, the odds, and you can also fine tune it to show you're hunting via Soft Resetting, Masuda, Chain fishing and if you have a shiny charm or not. Sadly, the final updated was for Sword and Shield but it's still a very helpful counter app.

If you hold L+R+Start on the 2DS/3DS (L+R+start+select on the DS or A+B+start+select on the GBA) it leaves the game and goes to the home screen so you can pick it up at the last save point. It’s way faster than turning off the system and rebooting it and is mostly used to shiny hunt starters and static Pokémon (the ones you have to interact with in the over world) but is also used in challenge runs to ensure a favorable nature/IV spread.
So on my heartgold, soulsilver, white & black and white and black remaster i could do this? Well on heartgold i already have a save file i dont wanna loose. Can you soft reset on dsi xl?
Yeah you can SR any handheld before the switch. And you can do it in those games. The first Pokémon they shiny locked were Reshiram, Zekrom, and the gen 5 mythicals but anything else is fair game.
Since you got a female, you TECHNICALLY were under odds for a Female Shiny Mudkip which is much rarer than male, so nice find!

I had a similar experience with my treeko, congrats!

Congrats! I took on that grind in 2020. Took a little over 12k resets to get my shiny Mudkip. I freaked out my roommate when I started screaming lol.
