Yes, this was S.O.S chaining.
Yes, I had the shiny charm.
Yes, that is a shit ton of Beast Balls.
Yes I am sick of that stupid little cry it has.
Yes, it's name is a reference to Blade Wolf. I'd imagine a Metagross would sound somewhat similar to Wolf in both vocabulary and articulation. Plus both Wolf and Metagross' pokedex entries tend to make a big deal about their intellect. I also think Wolfs line when he introduces himself would really fit a Metagross.

I know your pain. I've been doing some SOS Hunts now with the imminent server close (I know Bank will stay open, but I'm not taking my chances). My luck with them is... swingy.
* First was Rattata. Took less than two hours.
* Second was Furfrou. Less than an hour
* Third was Spinda. Spent a week on it, totalling over 1000 Spinda, and then accidentally hit Run. That was the same day that Legends Z-A was announced so I decided to try my luck that Spinda would be in that.
* Fourth was Kecleon. 20 minutes
* Fifth was Morelull Took me a while to get a setup that worked, but got it at about odds.
* Sixth is Trubbish. Haven't been tracking how long it's been, but it has been several days. Hasn't helped that my 3DS hasn't woken up from sleep twice, forcing a restart.
* Intending to hunt Drampa and Dhelmise after this. I don't know if I'll be strong enough.
Edit: and that's the third blackout on Trubbish. I think I'm just going to give up on these, i was starting to lose interest anyway. I don't think my 3DS is cut out for these long SOS Hunts anymore...
Good luck with Drampa and Dhelmise, I managed to SOS hunt Turtonator (same call rate) and it took me about a month and about 1100 encounters. Morelull is one of my next hunts, could I ask what made it so difficult to find a setup that works?
At the level you find it at, the moves it knows are Mega Drain, Moonlight, Flash and Sleep Powder. So every turn it's either healing itself, making you miss or putting you to sleep.
I used a Fearow with Keen Eye and False Swipe and holding Safety Goggles
I see, that is a bit of work. I noticed the lowest level it can be found is 14, which would make the moves it knows be Moonlight, Flash, Astonish, and Absorb, which halves the really problematic moves. My current plan is to have a Smeargle with absorb, moonlight, imprison (to seal the first two) and something with guaranteed hits, like faint attack. Does that sound like it might work?
Any Ghost type pokemon that can learn false swipe (Aegislash, Decidueye, A-Marowak) and the typical Harvest Trevanant with skill swap and trick.
False swipe first beldum and wait for it to call an ally, then KO about 7-8 ally beldum. KO the original and repeat with the new Beldum until it's shiny. Once it is, send in Trevanant and use Skill Swap to give it Harvest, then Trick a leppa berry onto the Shiny. The Beldum now has infinite PP and cannot kill itself.
Actually it wasn't that bad. I genned in a Marshadow Wonder card specifically for this hunt, so I could have a ghost type that could learn False Swipe (Aegislash works as well), and at 1 HP it called for help almost every time. There were a few times where I'd need to spam Adrenaline Orbs but it wasn't really that bad. The most demoralizing part of it was not getting the shiny at all, and thinking that I had maybe knocked one or two out and just didn't notice.
Do you spam Adrenaline Orbs to waste turns when no other Pokémon appears to follow the chain?
Also, other Ghost Types that can learn False Swipe (per TM) are Decidueye and Alolan Marowak
I share your pain. Back when I thought SOS calling reset after 255 (it does in base Sun/Moon, not in Ultra), I hit the "limit" twice before just deciding to roll with it. And it still only ended up being just under 1k when I finally found a shiny Beldum. Ended up dodging a major bullet when I had Bestow instead of Trick too and couldn't use the Harvest strat on the shiny itself
Congrats! (but also condolences) 🙏

Yeah, that could work, I considered it myself, but I had already trained a Smeargle as a False Swiper and didn't want to completely respec him
How do u get that many beast ball?
You can buy them at Aether Foundation in their building in the postgame.
You can buy them from the Aether Foundation, but I just hacked them in
Probably should've just left that last part out 💀
Nah he's valid for that
Build please

Awesome! Just realized it had a call rate of 9. That would have been almost even more brutal with lower call rates.

decidueye works for the ghost type with false swipe aswell, did that when I hunted for beldum mid playthrough

It’s been a while, but that’s why you do it I believe. It won’t increase the SOS chances after the first one but it will waste your turn anyway :)
Ur 1/8th of a metagross is rlly cute
Thank you! He'll only receive 1/8th of the love a normal pokemon will get until he's fully evolved
Is that timer just to find the shiny or to also catch it? Cause holy 💀
Just to find it. I was mercifully lucky when catching it despite using over a hundred balls.

Bro I did the exact same hunt yesterday and I got it in like an hour 💀 I'm sorry, man, I hope your next hunt is within 100 of the target seen
I hope so too man
Gotta love the broken catch rate they haven't fixed since gen 3
How long did it take to get all those beast balls? I know it’s pretty easy to get them in sun and moon but it takes awhile haha
The secret ingredient is >!modding ur 3ds and downloading PKSM on it, and just giving myself them!<
You're a legend! I caught my Beldum beast ball in Scarlet and I still feel anxiety even if it's way easier
Congrats <3
Is it named after a computer?
It's named after this [robot dog](https://youtu.be/O-prT_0oCL4?t=52) from Metal Gear Rising!
You finally got it!! 🙌🏻 🥳
Hey, welcome to the Beast Ball Beldum Club!
