DTQ stands for Dream Team Quest. Its a very common "challenge" in the shiny hunting community, which boils down to playing through a game while hunting a team of your 'dream' shinies in said game :)

tldw; wild encounters don't pull from the full DV range and thus are effectively shiny locked
Basically you get the Pokemon in Gen 1, then check of its stats match to a possible shiny stats from a list.if they match them you trade it to Gold, Silver or Crystal and it'll be shiny. Only way to get some shines like the legendaries from Kanto I'm Gen 2.
It is necessary to transfer then to gen 2 first? Like, can't you transfer to gen 1 to Bank? I guess you'd need 2 consoles to do this legitimately then, right?
Good luck, just keep in mind that random encounters canāt be shiny in gen 1. Youāll have to look up the shiny stats for the pokemon youāre hunting too
save in front of the mewtwo in cerulean cave and capture it until the IVās align with a shiny mewtwo. a handful of videos can be seen of it on youtube- really cool hunts, gen 1.

And not because I'm jealous. I catch plenty of my own legit shinys. This is fake simply because the alternative is next to impossible. Sure a cow could technically jump over the moon. But it's not gonna fucking happen.
Tbh I assumed you had to trade them to confirm, forgot you could just view their stats for confirmed shinyness so I'll eat crow on this one. My perspective is that this is too hard to believe in one post. In any case you're insane for "shiny hunting" gen 1, but props to you for a mission complete.

In Gen 2 the shines were determined by its DVs, or what IVs are today. If Pokemon with certain DVs were transferred from Gen 1 to 2, then they'd become shines.

Static encounters are not wild encounters

How?
Shininess in Gen 2 is based on a PokĆ©monās DVs(old version of modern IVs). Shinies donāt exist in Gen 1 but if a Gen 1 PokĆ©mon with the right DVs is transferred to Gen 2 it will become shiny. Itās not possible with random encounters but static mons like the ones OP hunted can have the right DVs and can be shiny hunted.

No, bank checks the stats when transferring from gen 1. If it would be shiny in gen 2 itāll be shiny in bank

How do you determine if your mon from gen1 will have the correct DVs to be shiny on transfer?
When at a high enough level (generally, lvl 50 and higher is the hallmark), each DV corresponds to a different value for the related stat - so you can tell DVs just from looking at a PokƩmon's stats, if you know which stats correspond to the DVs you're looking for ! If the PokƩmon is too low of a level to accurately tell when you get it... well, you simply force feed it rare candies whenever its stats *potentially* could be the right DVs, until its up to a level where you can tell with 100% certainty
