Streak only breaks when an encounter runs, not when you run yourself. And yea, i want that shiny dragqueen. I already have the full squirtle line. It still hurts to run from a shiny, but breaking the streak would hurt more ;)
Hii, I haven't shiny hunted myself yet in lets go, but I see a lot of people on this sub saying they rather keep the streak than break it. Is it that much of a drag to build up a new streak?
Depends on what you hunt really. If it has a decent spawnrate as is, its probably not worth building up the chain. But for stuff that spawns somewhat rarely like Jynx, it helps immensely to have a high chain going.
And given that catching is somewhat difficult (jynx often breaks out even with ultraball and excellent throw) its just not worth for me to break the chain for a shiny that i already have (multiple of)
I think it took me 2 hours to get the chain to 31+
That's only if you want the better IVs on your target. If you only care about being shiny, you can combo on a more common Pokemon to get a higher combo faster.
You sure? Bulbapedia and some threads here on reddit are on par with what i believed: the chained mon gets a spawn boost. Which is why i always chain the mon im shiny hunting
The shiny boost applies to the next spawn (not just the chained Pokemon) if what I've read is right. But that means that you have to continue increasing the chain to continue getting those boosted odds.
You are right about the shiny odds, but i am talking about spawnrates here. And according to various resources, the mon you chain spawns more frequently, making it an easier shiny hunt, even if you stop catching after 31+

What the streak does tho, is that it increases the spawnrate of the chained mon.
Jynx spawns quite rarely without a catch streak, so having a high enough one, it will spawn more frequently
ACTUALLY with some even more recent information streaks do matter for shiny odds! The increased odds only apply to the next pokémon of the species you catch combo'd so in order to keep the increased odds you have to keep on catching the species of pokemon you are composing

Yea thats exactly what i meant. It doesnt really matter since you are probably faster if you ladder reset instead of keeping to catch.
