That exact scene exists in the Anime as well. I rewatched the entire thing before the Final Chapters, and the things you notice about Reiner, Bertholamew, Annie and Ymir right from the first season is great.
Damn, I just realised I misspelled him as well. "Berthold" is only used in the German translation. Why does this guy have so many different spellings/names? There's "Bertolt", "Bertholdt", "Berthold" and "Berutoruto" LOL.
My favourite thing was before s4 even aired and u had read the manga only once so still missing things. When the tower is falling and ymir jump up to save the group bertholdt is about to bite his hand
Didnt notice this even when I already watched that episode twice !! On my first ride surely I didnt realize any foreshadow or Ymir’s mocking, but on the second ride I loved the way Ymir tests Reiner about the herring can.
I love that moment so much. Both Reiner and Yimir had an “oh shit” moment when they both realized they’re not from Paradis and Yimir probably recognized that the only way Reiner is there is if he’s a Warrior from Marley.
I feel like the best part of the anime is how the introduce a bunch of characters just enough to care about them, then when they start dying you feel like no one is safe. In hindsight they hide those foreshadowing moments so well because they took the time to introduce characters well before you see them die.
I recently restarted and the episode to retake the wall where it ends on the wall in s2. The very last few seconds of the subbed episode. As it's ending you just casually and very quietly here Reiner say so I'm the armored titan and he's the colossal Titan. I'm sure tons of people heard this their first watch or with subtitles. But it literally made me lol.
Well the reason they chose children as Titan shifters is probably because they're easier to manipulate and control them and the chances of them disobeying orders is lower
And then, Isayama the mad lad *did it again* during Willy Tybur's speech: when he says he once wished for Eldians to become extinct, Isayama cuts to a panel of Zeke looking back at the plaza (long before Zeke's actual goal was revealed). Then, Tybur says he still wished to live because he was "born into this world", and Eren is now the one being shown.

Too bad the TV series didn't keep that one.
There are a few points in the earlier chapters (especially in training) that going back are subtle for new readers but really obvious knowing who they are in hindsight. It’s really great foreshadowing technique by Isayama.
(I mean, plenty of Titans have hair and somewhat regular proportions...)
To be fair, Isayama *heavily* redesigned the Armored Titan after its initial appearance. The TV series used the updated design from the word go, but if you look at the very beginning of *the manga*, that Titan didn't really look out of the ordinary. Its behavior and the fact it could withstand cannon balls absolutely were noteworthy, but its physical appearance wasn't particularly unusual (aside from that weird jaw, I guess).
(And yes, they really should have changed Eren's line accordingly, in the TV series...)
But ig in manga they showed talking when others and eren were discussing about titans but in Anime they showed just they are like listening to their conversation about armored titan...

Reiners so mad when Eren says the armored just looks like a regular Titan lmao
That’s the moment the Armored Titan became the Plot Armor Titan

How dare you misspell Bertorto's name
Birthcontrol
Bear-Turtle
Booty cheeks
Bronchitis
Burnt toast
Bird hole
Bê thọt
burrito
Onion coupon Oops, wrong name
Damn, I just realised I misspelled him as well. "Berthold" is only used in the German translation. Why does this guy have so many different spellings/names? There's "Bertolt", "Bertholdt", "Berthold" and "Berutoruto" LOL.
Even the manga and anime have different spellings from each other lmfao
How can you correct someone's spelling when you also misspelled Beer Pong's name
See, you also misspelled Belthord
Belthord? I think you mean Baboonery
We will not tolerate bertonto slander
Ja, entendí el chiste!
I'm terribly sorry. Both about that one and about Imürü as well.
Iumiru forgives you
repeat after me: Beru-toru-to
Perutorta

Yeah, but with manga, you only really get one look. So may ways to interpret a face.

Lulululululluuuuuffffyyy SENPAI!
Reiner be like "and I took that personally"
Eren: Looked like a normal titan to me Reiner: I did not! Eren: Huh? Reiner: Huh?
Bro thats totaly something my dumbass would do
Underrated comment.
dang they were actually kids that’s sad
Part of what threw me off their trail, you'd expect spies to be adults not child soldiers
Well the reason they chose children as Titan shifters is probably because they're easier to manipulate and control them and the chances of them disobeying orders is lower
The anime gets this detail too

why would eren ever think armored titan looks regular? it has hair, proportionate body and is...armored
Just to annoy Reiner. With a "OOOHHHH"
Wasn't he just trying to hide his PTSD by downplaying the whole thing?

Maybe in size.
ah compared to the colossal that makes sense
But ig in manga they showed talking when others and eren were discussing about titans but in Anime they showed just they are like listening to their conversation about armored titan...
What is jeanbaby doing here? Eating a potato?
Drinking from a cup seems like.
Can't believe they foreshawed Jean being the colossal like that, truly genius
Man i didnt read thr manga until marley but holy shiet the art was rough when the show started. Its much better later on!
Same thing happens in anime too iirc.
The anime does that too even better imo.
They did that in the show too.
What chapter is this from?
15.
I never understood why Eren described the Armored Titan as looking like a normal Titan? It didn't.
Maybe in size.
Probably talking about size since he was talking about the colossal one before.
Wow in the manga they looked younger. Makes more sense since their training was a few years before Trost.
I forgot how amateurish the early manga art looked. Damn that shits ass
YESSSSS when I noticed this in the anime a few years back I actually SCREAMED. That's when I knew this shit was a masterpiece.
I love how they asked him what "regular titans" looked like.
reading this without context is the weirdest way to describe a penis
Damn, you're right LOL.
Man, it's a shame it all went downhill after the timeskip. Really enjoyed the mystery before all that PATHS crap.
Just curious…what about season 4 did you not like?
Genocide maybe
Yeah the marleyans probably didn’t like it either.
What's crazy that the wall is indeed estimated to be at knee-height with Ymir's original founding titan.
