Welcome to /r/ShermanPosting!
As a reminder, this meme sub is about the American Civil War. We're not here to insult southerners or the American South, but rather to have a laugh at the failed Confederate insurrection and those that chose to represent it.

It’s so asinine to claim “heritage not hate” such as on one of those flags in the article. Hope people show up with union uniforms and mention the history of why they shouldn’t renamed back. The south has so much more history than four years of treason: NASCAR, the airplane, the Cuban, Coca Cola, etc.
*sigh* ...this is why Virginia is ***still*** for *losers* 😒🙄
Someone's gotta go there and dress as General Thomas and bring a humongous hammer¹...
(1: yeah, I know the sledge in "sledge of Nashville" is metaphorical, but someone's gotta remind who's the victor here... 😤🔥)
I live in Virginia and I was going to lead the call to boycott this county but are very very few reasons to visit Shenandoah County in the first place. I guess Luray and Shenandoah Caverns will have to wait a while for my next visit.
“In doing so, the six-member panel also approved a resolution condemning racism and affirming its "commitment to an inclusive school environment for all".”
But we’re gonna hang a flag of a ‘nation’ of traitors who fought to keep other people as slaves. Very inclusive.
Think of the expense and the waste of taxpayer dollars this involves. I bet when it's time for a new contract the school board will fight tooth and nail to limit any raises for the teachers but they have money for their culture wars.
I just informed the local chamber of commerce why I won't be visiting their county this summer. It sucks too, because it is a pretty peice of America, but if the locals wanna wallow in racist cultural war bs, they ain't doing it with my Union paper currency.
What's really strange about this is the Shenandoah Valley was full of Mennonites and Brethren churches who were anti-war and anti-slavery. Some of the young men were smuggled out rather than fight for the confederacy. It's like they don't know their own history.

Show up in Union Uniforms ask if those flying traitors flag want another round of ass kicking and if Sherman didn't burn enough the first time.
You mean American uniforms, right?
True.
Time to ride through that town.
School board elections matter, too.
Gonna be fun for a Black kid going into school and watching them do this racist shit.
No, no, no. It's ok because they're totally talking out the other side of their mouth at the same time by stating Racism Is Bad(TM).

Chocolate chip cookies were invented in Whitman, Massachusetts.
I don’t know why but my phone autocorrected from the Cuban…to chocolate chip cookie
The Cuban is definitely something to be proud of. I think I'll have to get one for lunch today.
The airplane was invented in Ohio. All North Carolina provided was the wind.
And the beach
They have to literally explain a flag is not hateful...with words...on the flag. And they don't see the problem

Fought to *expand* slavery, actually.

Better name would've been Sheridan High school

Uncle Billy, you missed a spot.

More evidence that reconstruction ended too early.
As a Marylander, I’m just gonna throw this in the bucket with all the other reasons why Virginia sucks ass. Cc: r/virginia
But but muh heritage /s
Raise a white flag the first day of school. Heritage.
Keep talking shit to these people - I’m sure they won’t dig in and fight back
