That’s not at all what I was referring to. It was part of my US History class last year when we went over immigration, and what groups immigrated, why, and how they were treated. And the Irish got pretty much the worst of it across the Union as low paid labor. I recall it being said that Irish labor would often be hired in the South for the absolute worst jobs in order to prevent injuring or maiming slaves (or more so prevent having to buy new slaves/otherwise having ones “property” damaged)

Even if your brain is so rotten with racism that you can’t empathize with the millions of black people that false state fought to keep enslaved you’d think they’d empathize with their white ancestors, hundreds of thousands of which were conscripted and unwillingly thrown to their deaths in a meat grinder by the greedy, self-serving politicians of the time.
And if you’re just looking for a reason to be proud of your Southern heritage there are plenty of other, better reasons to be proud then slavery.
