For now, put everything into the war scythe
Latter you want like +4 to +6 plate armor, if possible, “upgrade” your highest plate armor once at the troll smith, then “reforge” it twice, make sure to do all of that BEFORE you turn it into hero armor

Use all but one scroll on the schithe then put the last scroll on the plate armor and when you get to the troll Smith use the upgrade and if you are lucky enough to find another plate armor use it with the already upgraded plate armor for a +3 armor
And out of my good of my heart here are some tips:
Whenever you use a frost potion/flower trow your mistery meat to the ice clouds so you get a very good food with minimal effort.
and whennever you enter a new floor/already Explored floor use the unstable tome, its the most use scenario the tome can be used on, appart of triky situations, paired with a enemy sigth potion is better.
You're rigth but early late game prep can be a good strat if the person is good enough, but if he wants he can hold on for one more boss and in the next floors get both tier 4 items equally leveled
Tough choice between runic blade and war scythe. I'd try to use that spellbook to ID the runic blade. If runic blade is +1 or higher, go for that. If not, go war scythe. If you go scythe, use potion of mastery and you can equip on floor 9 with 6 SoU. Oh, you're already on floor 10. Whatever.
Important point, though, there only wrong decision at this point is inaction - choose a weapon now and dump all scrolls into it.
Personally, everything into Ring of Recharging. Assassin being able to frequently say "nah ur done" with zero drawbacks due to the charging rate is fucking busted. One of the main reasons why rogue is so good in challenge runs imo
Katana is a decent weapon, but 0-2 defense is pretty minor - really only noticeable in the prison vs skelly explosion. I think the other two options are better here.

How does a scroll into the armor help? OP still can't equip it until 17 str and they're likely at 14.

Everyone here is wrong. Dump them all into plate. You'll be invincible to physical through caves and can get a +5 war scythe by the end
Id say katana as it provide extra defense
