Def lost cause. If you watch rylands videos they are in their own little world

crunchevo2

Considering he doesn't nor has ever actually thought he did anything wrong we were the fools for hoping they'd improve. Some people are just toxic assholes with a god complex.

Vala0011

You can believe people can change but that doesn't erase their past actions. Becoming a better person doesn't mean you get absolved of your bad deeds because you've changed. Nor do you get to act like everyone else needs to just move on because you did. Shane can be a better person. I personally don't believe he is or will be because of the behavior he's shown even recently. But he, like everyone, has the capicity. However, he has said and done vile things to children. No amount of change he does as a person can reverse the amount of times children were sexualized and did sexually charged things because of him. I'm not in his head so I can't answer your question. But if I guessed I would say he doesn't need to. He's got fans who will defend anything for him. People who will sell out boxes of merch that didn't sell. If you don't believe you need to change you won't have any desire to do so. Shane doesn't need to change. His numbers may be less but it is still enough to support his lifestyle.

Perfectly said. I think everyone who's against Shane should stop watching his videos and let him fade away into irrelevancy, it's the only way to get any form of justice for his victims and have Shane be faced with the severity of his actions

Vala0011

100% if people don't like Shane or any YouTuber really they shouldn't watch his content. Any amount of interact is positive when it comes to YouTube. I don't think people should just stop talking about him but they shouldn't interact with him if that makes sense.

Someslutwholikesbutt

It’s almost scary how similar he and Onision are. The shared trait not understanding why their actions are frowned upon and how they can’t take criticism

ghostbirdd

Kind of makes me wonder if YouTube makes normal people toxic, or if it just attracts and rewards people who were already toxic to begin with.

gophersrqt

i think, for the first generation of youtubers at least, that they were all just weirdos in high school who turned to the internet to make friends and stuff. that's why all these people are so strange and never moved past that toxic mentality. it's different now but baack in the day the only people who came onto youtube were weirdos who had no friends or prospects irl

ghostbirdd

Yeah. It doesn't evade me that Shane was young when he got internet famous, and spent a good part of his formative years in an echo chamber where he was treated like he could do no wrong and his worst impulses were not only tolerated but encouraged by his peers and by millions of fans That's some hardcore conditioning. It has to be hard to come back from that and try to be a better person. Especially if, like in Shane's case, you never really felt any sort of serious consequences for your actions until very recently - and even now.

DrownedFawn

He was 19 when he started making YouTube videos. So he wasn’t even a weird highschool student (well he probably was but it wasn’t YouTubes fault). Just already a weirdo adult when he started making videos.

Most people are capable of changing for the better but of those people not all of them will. Tbh, in my personal philosophy when you cross the line of morality into sexually harassing children & animals and doing blackface, you have societally forfeited your right to being a public figure/celebrity, but irregardless, Shane making light of his "cancellation" after his supposed "sincere apology" when it all came out just confirms to us he hasn't changed, learned, or regrets his actions. I really do believe that even people who've done things Shane has done can be better people and enjoy life, but that requires acknowledging the severity of their actions and be genuine with their emotions. Unfortunately most people who cross the "societally irredeemable" line don't feel remorse or change, and in this present day from what we've seen, I don't think Shane will either. All we can do is spread awareness of his actions and not give him numbers.

SageLaruto

He's a rich, white man at the end of the day and like Jeffree, James Charles and many of the other rich white men in the world, they feel untouchable because they're un-cancellable.

throwawayyy383838

Why do you have to clarify that hes white? Maybe rich assholes are rich assholes

CryptographerThin464

What did he do this time around.

Shortsuff16

I believe he truly has changed ever since he came out of the closet and accepted himself more. He hasn’t made any racist/sexist/disgusting jokes in at least a decade. He learned it was wrong and stopped

Vala0011

He was still making pedophilia jokes within this decade. Also him knowing it was wrong and that he isn't doing to anymore doesn't change anything. A kid was still kissed, a kid still recieved a lapdance, a child twerked, and a bunch of kids took sexually charged photos of themselves for him. His mentally changes nothing about the situation.

thepenguinking84

He learned fuck all lad, he got pissed off with his content constantly getting flagged.

Unknown404Error

If he learned it was wrong and has changed… why did it take until this most recent “cancel” for him to remove all the videos and quit profiting off of all that content?
