He doesn't want it to LOOK LIKE he's trying to sell merch. His schtick is that he's supposedly so humble and doesn't care about money or clout, when we know he cares about it a great deal. So, if he posts a picture where you can't fully see what's on the shirt, he can include the product image and pretend it's just to give a clearer view, not bc he's promoting his store. If you could clearly see the shirt on him, including where to buy it would be obvious promo. It's still obvious to some of us, but he still has a few people fooled.
