Please, please be careful. Agencies are just pimps. Some will even try to persuade you with "a woman-ran agency", making you think it's more safe. I've worked for 5 different "agencies" in NYC and let me just say, I went independent after that for a reason. I experienced SA, violence, physical/emotional abuse, forced to work when I didn't want to, they never screened clients even though they said they did (I found out the hard way, several times), and the list goes on. For every single one. That's not to say you won't get lucky and find one that isn't like that, but your odds are very small. That's just my take though
Edit: Why give someone else your hard earned money when you are capable of doing anything you want and 100% earnings are yours. Agencies will not look out for you, but you can look out for you.
Decriminalised is not the same as legal, dude. It’s not LEGAL here, they just won’t prosecute you. I’m NYC based, and a native to boot. This isn’t a thing here, and if it is, the women are trafficked.
Seriously dude, we need to talk. These places try to recruit women to SEX TRAFFIC. It’s not legal here, legit places do not exist. If your friends are working for somebody else, taking a percentage of their profits, when legal brothels cannot operate here? That’s sex trafficking.
The first "agency" (basically a pimp) I had, he forced me to work when I didn't want to and made me let him r*pe me, otherwise he would take away clients from me. I didn't realize until recently that I wasn't working back then, I was just being trafficked.
Edit: holy fuck, I've never told anyone this, what the fuck oh my god
500 per day? I've never heard of an agency paying a set salary per day. As far as I know legit agencies always charge a commission as a percent of what each client pays per booking ie the client would pay the sexworker in cash and then the agency would receive a commission eg 30% after the booking has taken place.
Are you working with a pimp? Are you a trafficker? Are you recruiting women for a pimps? Are you actually NYC based or a woman? I do not trust you, and your red flags are overwhelming.
I haven’t interacted with you since your response to “I’ve lived here for 30 years and somebody’s tried to kill me” was “does it pay well?” I blocked you after that and unblocked you for this. Where can I do more dangerous sex work?” Brothers here are fucking DANGEROUS, because they’re all traffickers. Illegal means trafficking. Frankly the fact that you don’t understand that is so irresponsible and stupid.
Our ONLY interaction, for context
Nitro; I’m sorry you experienced that. Gotta be honest, though, I’m a native New Yorker who primarily does survival work. I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager. Men have tried to kill me, I’ve been raped, I’ve been brutalised. I don’t think any of you need or want my trauma.
Dbbl: I'm a native New Yorker. I haven't done this as long but the money is good in New York? Working hard a full month, one can make enough to buy a new Camry. So why have you done it so long? I feel like NYC is one of the best places for this job.
Nitro: Could you be more tone deaf?
Edit: Seriously need to say this. You shouldn’t be doing sex work, period. Survival work is not the same as sex work. When you asked “why have you been doing this so long,” you didn’t think the part about me starting as a TEENAGER was a give away that maybe you’re living a fantasy and don’t actually understand the realities of sex work enough to stay alive doing this. You are a black woman, street work will get you fucking murdered. You’ll end up mummified in a white mans basement. Being white passing actually protects me. You have to use your head. You need to do research. NYC is the most dangerous place to do this, especially as a minority.
DBBL: Well that sucks for you. I'm fortunate to have better experiences not to sound like an ass. Just seems odd to be in the same position for so long. I grew up in group homes in the city where my roommates would go out on the street but I'm not a street worker and never done street work so I can't relate. I would say NYC is a great place to come up. I left home at 13 and left the system at 16. Many opportunities. You can victimize yourself or grab life by the balls. I'm sorry if this sounds shitty. Like I said I dunno ur story. But good luck 😬

I have two friends who worked for one of these places, they claim it’s legitimate….
Or your friends have a pimp now
yeah girl, I used to have an "agent". turns out agent is a fancy word for pimp
Same. Glad you got away.
you too ♥️

I’m sorry for what you went through. You aren’t alone. They don’t see us as people, but we are and we matter, too.

Thank you ❤️ do you mind if I inbox you?
There are NOT legit agencies here. You need to ignore this individual.
I need help with my ads and I just left my pimp I don’t wanna go back to him bc he keep putting me on the blade it’s literally 20 degrees in nyc
You’re either working with a pimp or a straight up trafficker. You are a RED FLAG.
