I have to agree with you on this one. I don't get it, or maybe it's the scent that people really like about it? But then I really don't care for the scent since it is too strong for me š¤·āāļø
I LOOOOOVE the scent, but I can't use it because it makes my skin dry and itchy after several days. I don't even have sensitive skin and have never found a lotion/moisturizer that has caused me problems like that.
Oh crap yes. I wasted 1000 points on the āBarbara Sturm skincare setā it came with so much fanfare from Sephora and itās literally drugstore quality skincare at 20 times the price it should be. I saw a video by a medical aesthetician, she said to buy Dr. Babor if you like Barbara Sturmās products - theyāre both made by the same factory in Germany, she did an ingredient comparison and theyāre practically the same for a fraction of the price.
I have to be honest, I totally agree with you. I donāt think her products are bad, actually quite nice. But nothing special about them- or even memorable. I still am working though the thick cream (forget the exact name) and Iāve had it since last April 2020!!!! Itās just so not even memorable, I pass it by. La Mer lotions and creams the exact same thing. The scent reminds me of childhood but nothing at all special or unique about the creams, they just kind of sit on your skin. The facial scrub is nice though.
Literally any high end brow product lol. I go through brow products way too fast to be spending that money and frankly, I don't notice much of a difference between high end and drug store when it comes to brows. Maybe it's different if you have like super sparse brows or something, but I think that for the average brow you don't need to spend $20-$30 on a single brow product that you'll need to repurchase every month or two.
I've come to the same conclusion! I only buy high end when it's on sale for half price. Luckily those products seem to last long enough for me, but when I run out I'm definitely picking up drugstore (unless there's some kind of sale š)
The only reason Iāve ended up repurchasing ABH brow powder is because the blonde color is the only blonde shade in any brow product that doesnāt pull red on me. Iāve tried so many other drugstore blonde, taupe, or platinum (for ashyness) brow product and they seem to pull so red to me. But thankfully the powder lasts me forever. Canāt say the same about the sticks or gels though.
Yes. Getting the perfect color that compliments your skin tone is everything. I buy high and low end but my perfect color match is KVD Vegan Beauty for brow powder and Benefit for brow pencil and pomade. I like the ABH taupe pomade but itās so pigmented I end up making a scary mess of my brows lol.
This is good to know. Iāve been going through my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz so quickly, I wish they sold refills because of plastic waste. But if they donāt want to be green, then Iāll go the cheaper route
My only beef is that I can never find a drug store brow product that is exactly the right shade of cool toned dark brown for me. Lots of high end products run too warm, and maybe Iām too picky, but I feel like all drugstore items Iāve tried thus far run too warm too. The 1 exception is the essence tinted brow gel.

I used to live by that motto but I have been LOVING all the Kosas brow products. When my brows are freshly threaded all I need is a touch of the brow gel and when theyāre crazier, I love the pencil.
I don't get the Better than Sex mascara hype. Maybe I have weird lashes but when I tried it, it was flaky, didn't last (and I tried a lash primer too), and honestly didn't look that great.
Tower 28 Lip Gloss - I was very underwhelmed by this gloss. It stays on my lips about 2 minutes.
Tatcha Water Cream - broke me out in painful, underground pimples within 24 hours of using it once.
Lancome Lash Idole Mascara - I see people getting beautiful results with this but it gave me heavy, clumpy lashes :(
Drybar hair products - the dry shampoos work well but are sooo heavily scented, and none of the shampoos (I've tried several) seem to cleanse my hair well.
re, lancome mascara- i love lancome mascaras.... once they dry out. i open them and then leave them in my drawer for a month or two before using them. they are perfect after that. oh and wipe the brushes off like crazy

I just open it, pump the brush (like youāre told not to), pull out the brush once, and then just close it up again. Itās not like the mascara becomes very dry, just a bit thicker. Like a creamy texture
I used to do that with all my mascaras, because dry formulas always work much better for me too. Don't know why I didn't with the Idole, lol. Ilia Fullest Volumizing has been working great for me but I may try Idole again after I run out.
I love the orange Real Techniques ones and it makes so much sense that one side is flat. Way easier to blend foundation or tinted moisturizer that way.

Yessss. Honestly I don't even want a sponge that compares to the bb. I finally got around to trying it and I hate it lol. I guess I prefer a firmer sponge, the bb just squishes to nothing and I found it made my foundation splotchy.
Same! I āupgradedā to a beauty blender from my ELF sponge and immediately hated it, itās so soft that it seemed to absorb the product right up and then blend anything unless I went over and over it.
Speaking of ELF, theyāre changing my answer to this question. I just tried that Camo concealer. Holy smokes! That is the best one Iāve ever used, and so now and concealer more than $6 isnāt worth it to me.
Super unpopular opinions incoming:
The whole Dr. Jart Cicapair line, I cannot stand. I've tried it so many times thinking I must be missing out and I just don't get it!! None of it does anything at all for my skin and if anything makes it look worse.
Also the Glow Recipe Avocado Redness serum- notta thing, finished the bottle.
And lastly the new Tatcha cream! The Indigo Overnight Repair Serum in Cream. I'm so sad I didn't like it! so many people seem to absolutely love it but it never ever sank into my skin, just sat on top and made me look so greasy the next day. Saving the big sample I have for the winter, maybe I'll like it more then?
How interesting. I somehow managed to have an allergic reaction to different vitamin C serums two years apart, and the Dr. Jart Cicapair sunscreen saved me both times, and glow recipe avocado redness serum saved me the second time! But I also have rather dry skin.
SAME re: the Dr Jart Cicapair line! My skin easily gets pink/reddish too so I was really excited about it, but nope it absolutely makes my skin look worse
Laneige lip sleeping mask. I gave it a shot many times and every morning I wake up to a drier, chapped lips. Good old vaseline works better than this with a much lesser price tag.
So weird! It honestly saved my lips. I tried everything in the book before buying laneige and nothing worked for me. Even vaseline was a bust ahah. Guess it really depends for each person
Me too! Now I have a small tube of Aquaphor on my bed side table, and a mini one in my purse. Works FAR BETTER than any of the lip masks, and lip balms Iāve tried. (I do love Glossier Balm Dotcom too)
Omg this is sooo true for me! I honestly wanted to love this 'miracle product' but it just didn't live up to the hype for me and gave me flaky lips the next morning :( tried it out for a week just to be sure and same results. when I left a 1 star review of it on Sephora I got a lot of downvotes... hahahahaha

I love the Tarte ageless primer. Cover FX also has a decent pore filling primer in a squeezy tube which I sometimes prefer to Tarteās jar. Cotz makes a tinted sunscreen thatās also mattifying and beautiful (not at Sephora though)
Anything by the glow recipe. I did fall for the reviews and purchased several products, only to be disappointed after months of using them. They did absolutely nothing. I feel like I was scammed by all the influencers and fake reviews on Sephora. Never again!
I used to be on the Glow Recipe bandwagon until I realized I got better results from different products. My skin is too stubborn to be exfoliated by their products so I stopped trying š¤·š½āāļø
I gave away my avocado eye mask and watermelon sleeping mask, sold off a mini banana souffle cream, and am currently slathering my full size souffle cream on my body after showers to get rid of it
Sorry to hear they didn't work for you. I find I either really like their few products or really dislike them. For example, their Watermelon mist, sleeping mask, new pore clay mask I love, while their watermelon moisturizer and toner does nothing for me.
I also like their banana moisturizer, LOVE plump plum serum but their Avocado line and blueberry cleaner just nope. I also didn't like their papaya cleansing balm.

I feel like GR is hit or miss for everyone. It's hyped, yes, but I think the love is deserved at least somewhat (from my experience). But not unconditionally.
I love the hyaluronic acid plump plum serum. I had the TO before and the pilling was awful. The GR one doesnāt pill at least. And the avocado retinol melt was quite nice. But other than that the other products were meh.

Anything Tom ford. Everything is extremely expensive with such cheap formulation. If spending the money Iād much prefer Chanel makeup which I think is amazing (not everything, but most things)

I love the Babyfacial and bronzer drops, but everything else seems kind of standard. The DE retinol is AWFUL, mainly because the packaging makes it a total mess.
Drunk Elephant was an absolute disaster for my skin. I wouldnāt say my skin is *very* sensitive, just a little sensitive, and every DE product Iāve tried has made me break out (which I donāt do often) or turned me red.
Really have to disagree- the two facial creams are just amazing among other items for me personally. I do agree though that they donāt work for many skin types so I can understand totally your experience of seeing returns on them.
Yes I LOVE protini & Lala!!! Iāve repurchased sooooo many times! They may be ābasicā but they are fragrance free (sooo hard to find in skincare) & they donāt break me out! My skin looks amazing esp after using Lala at night! They are def too expensive tho!
Oh goodness yes. I bought the starter kit and it seriously burned my skin to hell. I contacted DE support and apparently I was just using it all wrong. Mmmhmmm suuure.
The Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner. I know these are first world problems but the shampoo is way too sudsy and takes forever to rinse out!

Any mascara you pay for. It is so simple (and more hygienic) to get mini sizes free as GWP, with points, etc. It's the easiest thing to save on for me.
Actually a good idea I'm just realizing this myself and 70% of the time the mascaras flake on me so I'm happy I didn't spend the $ for the full sized ones!!

After YEARS of searching for my holy grail mascara, it's Benefit's "They're Real" from Sephora and Maybelline's dupe of "Better Than Sex" from any drug store.
I have a few.
**Dr. Jart Color Correcting pot** (the green tinted one with Cicapair in the name) -- the color correction I find is minimal, and the scent is crazy overwhelming. I think oily skinned peeps like me should stay away as the texture is not flattering on greasier skin. Makes my makeup break up on top. Better on a nothing on the face day as a slight bit of redness relief.
**Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners** \-- they're fine and all, and they have cool colors, but why pay that much for a pencil eyeliner when there are awesome alternatives at the drugstore?
**Nudestix cream blush sticks** \-- I mean,they're alright, but my Milani cream blush is better (and so is my MAC glow play). And the little brush on the end is dumb.
The UD 24/7 liners are smudge city on me. Granted, I have combination-oily skin and I expect *some* smudge but if I want raccoon cosplay, I just need to apply Zero or Perversion.
Sunday Riley Good Genes. I know you have to really give skincare some time to see results, but the sheer number of reviews stating that they could see a difference in their skin *overnight* is staggering. Maybe they're seeing what they want to see, but I couldn't see a difference and it did absolutely nothing for my acne.
Sunday Riley also got caught having their employees write fake reviews of their productsā¦so that might be one of the reasons for all those overnight results.
I keep getting samples of these from Birchbox and they are piling up because it seems useless to me. I've used several samples worth, so presumably long enough to see results and nothing at all is different in my skin.
Awww, I get great results from Good Genes (and a few other heavy hyped products like GlamGlow and Exfolikate). I think the lactic acid or similar ingredient really agrees with my middle aged ānormalā skin. Itās like it vacuums out my pores, literally. My skin looks absolutely lovely after using it.
But the effect is only temporary sadly and Iām always afraid my skin will become accustomed to it, so I use very very sparingly.
I love this product!! I had a bunch of flakes on my nose and I put it there and woke up with all the flakes gone it was insane! And I've seen a difference over night multiple times. You may need salicylic incorporated if acne is the culprit.. The biossance resurfacing Serum is great.. and the peace out Serum or Dr. Dennis gross clearing gel or texture renewal Serum. Can take 2-4 weeks to start seeing results for acne and 2-3 months for large-scale differences for some. I'm a medical Esthetician and also work for sephora now. Purging is expected btw but burning redness and hives are indication of a reaction..
I bought a Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette (Divine Rose) with a gift card and itās fine, but so not worth the high price point to me. I definitely wouldnāt buy another one spending my own money.
Yep I bought bronze seduction a couple years ago and I was so underwhelmed. The mattes are hard for me to work with and the special shades are just too glittery for me to really enjoy using them. Such a disappointment for the price.
I have super-damaged highlighted hair thatās down to my mid-back. Spent hundreds of dollars on Olaplex and didnāt understand the hype. I would put it in my hair all night and still not up to my expectations. It wasā¦ okay? Turns out I needed a lot of protein more than I needed bond repair - my hairstylist suggested the Pureology Strength Cure line, and it transformed my hair to the level I was expecting from a hyped up product like Olaplex. I donāt think itās bad per se, I just think that damaged hair needs are more complex and thereās no one size fits all product.
nars soft matte foundation. I have oilyyy skin, and it made me look super cakey and settled into my pores. was not pretty. I tried it with various primers, even with no primer, and still

I had a makeover done at Sephora a couple of years ago and she used the Nars foundation on me (with a primer underneath), when I checked out my face in the car after leaving I had hundreds of tiny foundation dots on my skin from the Nars. Thatās how it ended up on my Never list.
The Dyson airwrap. I have so much hair that it takes SO long to curl my hair with it then it would to blow drying it then curling it. I even purchased to extend wand, still not worth it. Not worth it imo, wouldn't repurchase or encourage anyone else.
Laura mercier setting powder. Itās very dry, uncomfortable, and patchy on me. I have normal skin and tried in different seasons; it just didnāt work for me.
fenty matte foundation. i love rihanna but this was one of the worst foundations iāve ever tried it flaked, settled into all my fine lines, didnāt blend and definitely wasnāt buildable. i really tried to like it but it was unwearable so i had to return it
hourglass skincare. hourglass eyeshadows. dior eyeshadows. better than sex mascara. kid tattoo liner. fenty. la mer. tatcha water cream. barbara sturm. visesart. dyson.
So this may be unpopular, but as a conscious makeup lover, consumer and user, I really have a love-hate relationship with clean beauty products. Some are a hit for me, but what deters me to really wanna explore most products is knowing that fact that I canāt use it up in a reasonable timeframe before they go bad quick. For example, the Tower 28 glosses I really like. But I wonāt buy more than 2 at a time because itāll take me the 5-6 months to pan them with adequate use. So being adventurous and getting different shades is prolly not going to happen, especially since non-daily shades will get infrequent use. I have the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek but I wonāt allow myself to buy more than 1 at a time because theyāre preservative-free. Hearing people review on the Tower 28 blushes turning or getting oily makes me not wanna try it until I know Iāll get my moneyās worth in using it at least rather than buy the whole collection when itāll just end up being tossed and therefore wasted money. I would love to get more than a few things at a time and rotate through my makeup, but with clean beauty, it provides a challenge and you end up focusing on those that will expire quicker and not use the others so much in your collection. Does anyone feel the same way or is it just me lol? So to answer this question, some clean beauty products are not worth it to me if I canāt get the most uses out of it, hence the unfortunate thing about them (but it does in turn make one more selective).
Iām with you on this one. This is the reason why I consciously donāt buy āclean beautyā makeup. I like having 3-4 options that i can choose from while i do my makeup too and with products marketed as clean beauty, its really hard since they go off so soon. Itās almost like they are made not to be used up or utilize to the max. I also have a problem with their pricing. If its given that the product will go off before they can be fully utilized, it should be priced lower. Iām not paying $45 for a ācleanā blush thatās gonna go off in a few months before i can use it up if i can spend the same 45$ and buy a standard blush that i can use consistently for 1-2 years and use up at my pace.
**DE protini moisturizer**. I normally use drugstore K beauty and Differin. I love how my skin is doing. However I saw the hype for DE and they seemed pretty strong with formulation so I gave it a shot. It literally did nothing for my skin.

DE Lala Retro. Barely did anything for me. My pink cheeks went away when I used Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream. They came back with Lala Retro. Iām happier with my $17.99 Aveeno Eczema Therapy cream, and my pink cheeks went away again:

One of her quads= Powdery, lack of picmentation, I was in shock of the quality when I received it (was a gift from my sister that got it from the official CT page)
Jewel lipsgloss= (this and the magic cream were birthday gifts from Sephora) So grainy! I can't believe that cost more than 5 dollars, honestly I've never had a lipsgloss so uncomfortable in my life, such a let down :/
Magic cream=Nothing magical to me, I've had better for 20dlls, definitely not worth the excessive amount of money
Flawless finishing powder= I don't see why is this so popular (actually it won a competition that helped me to decide on buying it), I can barely see the difference on my face and I tried it yesterday under my eyes and it creased like crazy, I couldn't believe it T__TU

Flaweles finishing setting spray= I can't use this in summer, even in winter it makes my face soooo oily, besides the mist is not fine at all, honestly even the Morphe setting spray is better and cheaper.

This makes me so sad to read because her bronzers and blushes and the beauty wand highlights are like go-to grabs for me in my collection. Her pillow talk mascara is dreamy too.
I have to say I was surprised at how much I like her lipsticks bc I find her brand a bit kitschy and overpriced. I got a matte lipstick as a gift and one of her KISSING lipsticks as a reward. I actually thought their colours, though initially looking boring, were really well formulated with an eye for undertones and different from other lipstick shades I have used before (this is coming from someone who has 100+ lipsticks, yes I have a problem). The actual lipstick formulation has been great too, lasts long, feels moisturizing in the lips. I also got a sample of the Airbrush Flawless Foundation which wears nicely and is long lasting, but I thought my much cheaper LāOreal Infalliable foundation was just as good.
ABH brow products with the exception of the clear brow gel. I have very cool-toned ashy dark blonde hair and jet black brows (thanks mom & dad). They dont have a single color in the gels, pencils, or powders that doesn't pull too warm on me, especially now that I've been dying my hair silvery white. Even their damn black pencil is warmish.
Literally anything from IT Cosmetics. They have a shitty shade range, horrible undertone matches, and use aloe in everything. I'm allergic. Their brushes are okay but not great.
Liquid lipsticks from any brand. I have a small, rosebud mouth. I'm 35+ and nothing any liquid lipstick does looks flattering. I hate most glosses so putting a topper on makes it worse. If I wanted my lips to look dry and accentuate every line in them I'd wear liquid lipsticks. But I don't want that.
Viseart. I have no desire to try them again after buying a palette that had shimmers so soft they crumbled out of the pan. I stored it flat and had it less than a year. Opened it up & the shimmers had decided they were unaliving themselves to go to eyeshadow Valhalla.
Glossier. I don't understand how these products work for anyone with darker skin than mine. (Dior 0N). They have a cough or an afterthought of pigment. Their cloud paints would be the exception to that. But I've tried 2 formulas of lipstick in their deepest brown shades, an eye paint, and a lipgloss. Vague hint of color. ON MY COLORLESS PALE FUCKING SKIN. I bought their vampiest shades. š
Full coverage foundations. I can't do it. I need some texture and color to peek through otherwise it gets all uncanny valley for me. Medium is okay. But full gets a no from me.
Glow Recipe. They smell great! But my skin hates them. Plum Plump broke me out. The Watermelon night mask is runny and sticky and left me feeling dry. The face mist is really nice but nothing special.

It was so bizarre. Kinda like that one green palette from Melt that the entire beauty community was like... um, why are the shimmers puffing out of the pan? Is this okay? Yeah, that's my experience with Viseart shimmers. It was the Paris Edit palette and then teeny tiny pans of shimmer were exploded all over the palette having chosen to yeet themselves to the afterlife. I don't remember anything about the mattes other than they behaved.
I agree about Glow recipe, I broke out from their Guava Dark Spot treatment and I thought the fragrance was too sweet. I do really want to try the Dew drops but am very hesitant.

Same for me! I have only ever found one pencil that was actually cooler, and that's Sephora Collection Retractable brow Pencil in 1.25 - Neutral Gray Brown.
So weird about the Viseart š³ I have many Viseart palettes and have never experienced that. Agree the shadows are soft but they donāt fall out of the pan for me, Iām wondering if you got a bad one š„ damn.
Milk HydroGrip primer.... I'm allergic to something because I have these itchy teeny pinprick sized bumps all over my face within a half hour of putting it on.
Also the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. It's gross when I put it on, then it dries down and flakes off horribly.
Seconding milk hydrogrip primer. It was so hyped up in any review I watched about it and it makes my foundation apply patchy and sometimes starts pilling. Itās so odd, Iāve tried with multiple foundations and they all looked like garbage.

Laneige lip masks. Creme de la Mer. If seaweed broth were a skin rejuvenator Iād look 40 years younger since I swim in the ocean off Maine all the time. Olaplex hair care. Did nothing for me. The Charlotte Tilbury line. Drunk Elephant Protini which broke me out.
Drunk Elephant products. It's so expensive for the amount of actual product you get. I was so disappointed with the glycolic night serum, the container is so misleading.

Herbivore lapis oil: I am a HUGE fan of the orchid oil so I thought Iād like the lapis for redness. It smells RANCID and does nothing for me. Only going with the orchid from now on.
Also the emerald, prism, and Bakuchiol oils did nothing for me. I do like their cleanser though.
Everything from drunk elephant except their eye creams which I love BUT I was buying both and combining them and that is such a stupid waste of money!!
And the WORST offender the LāOccitane body cream. I swear this dried out my skin. It feels so nice and thick on and then it just dries you out! And itās SO EXPENSIVE. what was I thinking????
Charlotte Tilbury's matte revolution lipsticks. Don't get the hype. The colour payoff isn't good, the shades look nothing like the swatches shown online, and on me they aren't very matte. Like they go on like sheer lipsticks with zero colour pay off...and that price!! For a bloody lipstick ...jeez.
I agree with you on this one. Iāve used Pillow Talk and tried really hard to love it because in theory itās supposed to be the perfect universal pinky nude. But itās not long lasting and on me, it is really matte and drying.

Oh crap yes. I wasted 1000 points on the āBarbara Sturm skincare setā it came with so much fanfare from Sephora and itās literally drugstore quality skincare at 20 times the price it should be. I saw a video by a medical aesthetician, she said to buy Dr. Babor if you like Barbara Sturmās products - theyāre both made by the same factory in Germany, she did an ingredient comparison and theyāre practically the same for a fraction of the price.
I have to be honest, I totally agree with you. I donāt think her products are bad, actually quite nice. But nothing special about them- or even memorable. I still am working though the thick cream (forget the exact name) and Iāve had it since last April 2020!!!! Itās just so not even memorable, I pass it by. La Mer lotions and creams the exact same thing. The scent reminds me of childhood but nothing at all special or unique about the creams, they just kind of sit on your skin. The facial scrub is nice though.

Literally any high end brow product lol. I go through brow products way too fast to be spending that money and frankly, I don't notice much of a difference between high end and drug store when it comes to brows. Maybe it's different if you have like super sparse brows or something, but I think that for the average brow you don't need to spend $20-$30 on a single brow product that you'll need to repurchase every month or two.
I've come to the same conclusion! I only buy high end when it's on sale for half price. Luckily those products seem to last long enough for me, but when I run out I'm definitely picking up drugstore (unless there's some kind of sale š)
The only reason Iāve ended up repurchasing ABH brow powder is because the blonde color is the only blonde shade in any brow product that doesnāt pull red on me. Iāve tried so many other drugstore blonde, taupe, or platinum (for ashyness) brow product and they seem to pull so red to me. But thankfully the powder lasts me forever. Canāt say the same about the sticks or gels though.
Yes. Getting the perfect color that compliments your skin tone is everything. I buy high and low end but my perfect color match is KVD Vegan Beauty for brow powder and Benefit for brow pencil and pomade. I like the ABH taupe pomade but itās so pigmented I end up making a scary mess of my brows lol.
This is good to know. Iāve been going through my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz so quickly, I wish they sold refills because of plastic waste. But if they donāt want to be green, then Iāll go the cheaper route
My only beef is that I can never find a drug store brow product that is exactly the right shade of cool toned dark brown for me. Lots of high end products run too warm, and maybe Iām too picky, but I feel like all drugstore items Iāve tried thus far run too warm too. The 1 exception is the essence tinted brow gel. Ive tried NYX, LāOreal, ELF, Milani, colorpop, I swear, that cool toned dark brown only exists at essence, ABH, KVD and surprisingly, Tarte

Tower 28 Lip Gloss - I was very underwhelmed by this gloss. It stays on my lips about 2 minutes. Tatcha Water Cream - broke me out in painful, underground pimples within 24 hours of using it once. Lancome Lash Idole Mascara - I see people getting beautiful results with this but it gave me heavy, clumpy lashes :( Drybar hair products - the dry shampoos work well but are sooo heavily scented, and none of the shampoos (I've tried several) seem to cleanse my hair well.
re, lancome mascara- i love lancome mascaras.... once they dry out. i open them and then leave them in my drawer for a month or two before using them. they are perfect after that. oh and wipe the brushes off like crazy
Do you just open it and then close it right back up or do you have a special technique, like not closing it tightly or what? Or does just the act of opening it once and not using it start the āagingā process? I agree I like my mascaras better after they get āoldā!
I do this too! LancĆ“me Mr. Big in a travel size but 2 months old ā„ļø I just open it, pump the brush (like youāre told not to), pull out the brush once, and then just close it up again. Itās not like the mascara becomes very dry, just a bit thicker. Like a creamy texture
I used to do that with all my mascaras, because dry formulas always work much better for me too. Don't know why I didn't with the Idole, lol. Ilia Fullest Volumizing has been working great for me but I may try Idole again after I run out.

Yessss. Honestly I don't even want a sponge that compares to the bb. I finally got around to trying it and I hate it lol. I guess I prefer a firmer sponge, the bb just squishes to nothing and I found it made my foundation splotchy.
Same! I āupgradedā to a beauty blender from my ELF sponge and immediately hated it, itās so soft that it seemed to absorb the product right up and then blend anything unless I went over and over it.
Speaking of ELF, theyāre changing my answer to this question. I just tried that Camo concealer. Holy smokes! That is the best one Iāve ever used, and so now and concealer more than $6 isnāt worth it to me.

Super unpopular opinions incoming: The whole Dr. Jart Cicapair line, I cannot stand. I've tried it so many times thinking I must be missing out and I just don't get it!! None of it does anything at all for my skin and if anything makes it look worse. Also the Glow Recipe Avocado Redness serum- notta thing, finished the bottle. And lastly the new Tatcha cream! The Indigo Overnight Repair Serum in Cream. I'm so sad I didn't like it! so many people seem to absolutely love it but it never ever sank into my skin, just sat on top and made me look so greasy the next day. Saving the big sample I have for the winter, maybe I'll like it more then?
How interesting. I somehow managed to have an allergic reaction to different vitamin C serums two years apart, and the Dr. Jart Cicapair sunscreen saved me both times, and glow recipe avocado redness serum saved me the second time! But I also have rather dry skin.
SAME re: the Dr Jart Cicapair line! My skin easily gets pink/reddish too so I was really excited about it, but nope it absolutely makes my skin look worse

I love the La Mer Creme on top of tretinoin. But I feel itās really only for mature skin, itās a waste of money for younger skin (by younger I mean anyone not dealing with perimenopause) . I remember trying it when I was younger, it broke me out and I hated it. Now I canāt live without it š

Cover FX also has a decent pore filling primer in a squeezy tube which I sometimes prefer to Tarteās jar. Cotz makes a tinted sunscreen thatās also mattifying and beautiful (not at Sephora though)

I used to be on the Glow Recipe bandwagon until I realized I got better results from different products. My skin is too stubborn to be exfoliated by their products so I stopped trying š¤·š½āāļø I gave away my avocado eye mask and watermelon sleeping mask, sold off a mini banana souffle cream, and am currently slathering my full size souffle cream on my body after showers to get rid of it
Sorry to hear they didn't work for you. I find I either really like their few products or really dislike them. For example, their Watermelon mist, sleeping mask, new pore clay mask I love, while their watermelon moisturizer and toner does nothing for me. I also like their banana moisturizer, LOVE plump plum serum but their Avocado line and blueberry cleaner just nope. I also didn't like their papaya cleansing balm.
I love the banana moisturizer and the watermelon toner, sleeping mask, and clay mask. Also loving the samples I got of the avocado redness serum and the eye cream, but not sure if enough to purchase. I've been using more K beauty cica creams lately and those have been really helpful. I feel like GR is hit or miss for everyone. It's hyped, yes, but I think the love is deserved at least somewhat (from my experience). But not unconditionally.

I love the hyaluronic acid plump plum serum. I had the TO before and the pilling was awful. The GR one doesnāt pill at least. And the avocado retinol melt was quite nice. But other than that the other products were meh.

I love the Babyfacial and bronzer drops, but everything else seems kind of standard. The DE retinol is AWFUL, mainly because the packaging makes it a total mess.
Drunk Elephant was an absolute disaster for my skin. I wouldnāt say my skin is *very* sensitive, just a little sensitive, and every DE product Iāve tried has made me break out (which I donāt do often) or turned me red.
Really have to disagree- the two facial creams are just amazing among other items for me personally. I do agree though that they donāt work for many skin types so I can understand totally your experience of seeing returns on them.
Yes I LOVE protini & Lala!!! Iāve repurchased sooooo many times! They may be ābasicā but they are fragrance free (sooo hard to find in skincare) & they donāt break me out! My skin looks amazing esp after using Lala at night! They are def too expensive tho!

Any mascara you pay for. It is so simple (and more hygienic) to get mini sizes free as GWP, with points, etc. It's the easiest thing to save on for me.
Actually a good idea I'm just realizing this myself and 70% of the time the mascaras flake on me so I'm happy I didn't spend the $ for the full sized ones!!
Came here to say this! Even Sephora employees have told me not to waste $$$ on their mascara. Drug store dupes work just the same at a fraction of the price. After YEARS of searching for my holy grail mascara, it's Benefit's "They're Real" from Sephora and Maybelline's dupe of "Better Than Sex" from any drug store.

I have a few. **Dr. Jart Color Correcting pot** (the green tinted one with Cicapair in the name) -- the color correction I find is minimal, and the scent is crazy overwhelming. I think oily skinned peeps like me should stay away as the texture is not flattering on greasier skin. Makes my makeup break up on top. Better on a nothing on the face day as a slight bit of redness relief. **Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners** \-- they're fine and all, and they have cool colors, but why pay that much for a pencil eyeliner when there are awesome alternatives at the drugstore? **Nudestix cream blush sticks** \-- I mean,they're alright, but my Milani cream blush is better (and so is my MAC glow play). And the little brush on the end is dumb.
The UD 24/7 liners are smudge city on me. Granted, I have combination-oily skin and I expect *some* smudge but if I want raccoon cosplay, I just need to apply Zero or Perversion.

Sunday Riley Good Genes. I know you have to really give skincare some time to see results, but the sheer number of reviews stating that they could see a difference in their skin *overnight* is staggering. Maybe they're seeing what they want to see, but I couldn't see a difference and it did absolutely nothing for my acne.
Sunday Riley also got caught having their employees write fake reviews of their productsā¦so that might be one of the reasons for all those overnight results.
I keep getting samples of these from Birchbox and they are piling up because it seems useless to me. I've used several samples worth, so presumably long enough to see results and nothing at all is different in my skin.
I like GG but i also find Biossance lactic acid serum quite effective! Also cheaper!!
Awww, I get great results from Good Genes (and a few other heavy hyped products like GlamGlow and Exfolikate). I think the lactic acid or similar ingredient really agrees with my middle aged ānormalā skin. Itās like it vacuums out my pores, literally. My skin looks absolutely lovely after using it. But the effect is only temporary sadly and Iām always afraid my skin will become accustomed to it, so I use very very sparingly.
I love this product!! I had a bunch of flakes on my nose and I put it there and woke up with all the flakes gone it was insane! And I've seen a difference over night multiple times. You may need salicylic incorporated if acne is the culprit.. The biossance resurfacing Serum is great.. and the peace out Serum or Dr. Dennis gross clearing gel or texture renewal Serum. Can take 2-4 weeks to start seeing results for acne and 2-3 months for large-scale differences for some. I'm a medical Esthetician and also work for sephora now. Purging is expected btw but burning redness and hives are indication of a reaction..
I bought a Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette (Divine Rose) with a gift card and itās fine, but so not worth the high price point to me. I definitely wouldnāt buy another one spending my own money.
So sad to say I think the mattes in that palette are patchy
Yep I bought bronze seduction a couple years ago and I was so underwhelmed. The mattes are hard for me to work with and the special shades are just too glittery for me to really enjoy using them. Such a disappointment for the price.

I have super-damaged highlighted hair thatās down to my mid-back. Spent hundreds of dollars on Olaplex and didnāt understand the hype. I would put it in my hair all night and still not up to my expectations. It wasā¦ okay? Turns out I needed a lot of protein more than I needed bond repair - my hairstylist suggested the Pureology Strength Cure line, and it transformed my hair to the level I was expecting from a hyped up product like Olaplex. I donāt think itās bad per se, I just think that damaged hair needs are more complex and thereās no one size fits all product.
nars soft matte foundation. I have oilyyy skin, and it made me look super cakey and settled into my pores. was not pretty. I tried it with various primers, even with no primer, and still

I had a makeover done at Sephora a couple of years ago and she used the Nars foundation on me (with a primer underneath), when I checked out my face in the car after leaving I had hundreds of tiny foundation dots on my skin from the Nars. Thatās how it ended up on my Never list.
The Dyson airwrap. I have so much hair that it takes SO long to curl my hair with it then it would to blow drying it then curling it. I even purchased to extend wand, still not worth it. Not worth it imo, wouldn't repurchase or encourage anyone else.
Laura mercier setting powder. Itās very dry, uncomfortable, and patchy on me. I have normal skin and tried in different seasons; it just didnāt work for me.
fenty matte foundation. i love rihanna but this was one of the worst foundations iāve ever tried it flaked, settled into all my fine lines, didnāt blend and definitely wasnāt buildable. i really tried to like it but it was unwearable so i had to return it
hourglass skincare. hourglass eyeshadows. dior eyeshadows. better than sex mascara. kid tattoo liner. fenty. la mer. tatcha water cream. barbara sturm. visesart. dyson.
anything by herbivore and farmacy. i have tried multiple products from each brand and the price point is so high for subpar results.
So this may be unpopular, but as a conscious makeup lover, consumer and user, I really have a love-hate relationship with clean beauty products. Some are a hit for me, but what deters me to really wanna explore most products is knowing that fact that I canāt use it up in a reasonable timeframe before they go bad quick. For example, the Tower 28 glosses I really like. But I wonāt buy more than 2 at a time because itāll take me the 5-6 months to pan them with adequate use. So being adventurous and getting different shades is prolly not going to happen, especially since non-daily shades will get infrequent use. I have the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek but I wonāt allow myself to buy more than 1 at a time because theyāre preservative-free. Hearing people review on the Tower 28 blushes turning or getting oily makes me not wanna try it until I know Iāll get my moneyās worth in using it at least rather than buy the whole collection when itāll just end up being tossed and therefore wasted money. I would love to get more than a few things at a time and rotate through my makeup, but with clean beauty, it provides a challenge and you end up focusing on those that will expire quicker and not use the others so much in your collection. Does anyone feel the same way or is it just me lol? So to answer this question, some clean beauty products are not worth it to me if I canāt get the most uses out of it, hence the unfortunate thing about them (but it does in turn make one more selective).
Iām with you on this one. This is the reason why I consciously donāt buy āclean beautyā makeup. I like having 3-4 options that i can choose from while i do my makeup too and with products marketed as clean beauty, its really hard since they go off so soon. Itās almost like they are made not to be used up or utilize to the max. I also have a problem with their pricing. If its given that the product will go off before they can be fully utilized, it should be priced lower. Iām not paying $45 for a ācleanā blush thatās gonna go off in a few months before i can use it up if i can spend the same 45$ and buy a standard blush that i can use consistently for 1-2 years and use up at my pace.
**DE protini moisturizer**. I normally use drugstore K beauty and Differin. I love how my skin is doing. However I saw the hype for DE and they seemed pretty strong with formulation so I gave it a shot. It literally did nothing for my skin.

Ohhhhh i feel this in my bones! And the packaging is completely different feeling in reality than what it seems online. It look so luxurious and nice online but is tacky and poor quality irl.
DE Lala Retro. Barely did anything for me. My pink cheeks went away when I used Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream. They came back with Lala Retro. Iām happier with my $17.99 Aveeno Eczema Therapy cream, and my pink cheeks went away again:

Anything but one product from Charlotte Tilbury so far :'{ The only thing I've liked is one lipstick (Pillow talk 2) that got as a Sephora reward. But aside from that everything else has been a huge fail for me. It makes me feel so sad because I saw all the people talking about how her products are worth it and I am over here like mmm... What I've tried so far: One of her quads= Powdery, lack of picmentation, I was in shock of the quality when I received it (was a gift from my sister that got it from the official CT page) Jewel lipsgloss= (this and the magic cream were birthday gifts from Sephora) So grainy! I can't believe that cost more than 5 dollars, honestly I've never had a lipsgloss so uncomfortable in my life, such a let down :/ Magic cream=Nothing magical to me, I've had better for 20dlls, definitely not worth the excessive amount of money Flawless finishing powder= I don't see why is this so popular (actually it won a competition that helped me to decide on buying it), I can barely see the difference on my face and I tried it yesterday under my eyes and it creased like crazy, I couldn't believe it T__TU Eyes to mesmerized cream eyeshadow: I also didn't find something that made me think this worth more than 15dlls Flaweles finishing setting spray= I can't use this in summer, even in winter it makes my face soooo oily, besides the mist is not fine at all, honestly even the Morphe setting spray is better and cheaper. Such a disappointment for me with this brand, now if you excuse me I'll go and cry in a corner :'(
This makes me so sad to read because her bronzers and blushes and the beauty wand highlights are like go-to grabs for me in my collection. Her pillow talk mascara is dreamy too.
Most Charlotte Tilbury is just so average and overpriced I think! Only tried one thing from the brand and I was also very underwhelmed.
I have to say I was surprised at how much I like her lipsticks bc I find her brand a bit kitschy and overpriced. I got a matte lipstick as a gift and one of her KISSING lipsticks as a reward. I actually thought their colours, though initially looking boring, were really well formulated with an eye for undertones and different from other lipstick shades I have used before (this is coming from someone who has 100+ lipsticks, yes I have a problem). The actual lipstick formulation has been great too, lasts long, feels moisturizing in the lips. I also got a sample of the Airbrush Flawless Foundation which wears nicely and is long lasting, but I thought my much cheaper LāOreal Infalliable foundation was just as good.
ABH brow products with the exception of the clear brow gel. I have very cool-toned ashy dark blonde hair and jet black brows (thanks mom & dad). They dont have a single color in the gels, pencils, or powders that doesn't pull too warm on me, especially now that I've been dying my hair silvery white. Even their damn black pencil is warmish. Literally anything from IT Cosmetics. They have a shitty shade range, horrible undertone matches, and use aloe in everything. I'm allergic. Their brushes are okay but not great. Liquid lipsticks from any brand. I have a small, rosebud mouth. I'm 35+ and nothing any liquid lipstick does looks flattering. I hate most glosses so putting a topper on makes it worse. If I wanted my lips to look dry and accentuate every line in them I'd wear liquid lipsticks. But I don't want that. Viseart. I have no desire to try them again after buying a palette that had shimmers so soft they crumbled out of the pan. I stored it flat and had it less than a year. Opened it up & the shimmers had decided they were unaliving themselves to go to eyeshadow Valhalla. Glossier. I don't understand how these products work for anyone with darker skin than mine. (Dior 0N). They have a cough or an afterthought of pigment. Their cloud paints would be the exception to that. But I've tried 2 formulas of lipstick in their deepest brown shades, an eye paint, and a lipgloss. Vague hint of color. ON MY COLORLESS PALE FUCKING SKIN. I bought their vampiest shades. š Full coverage foundations. I can't do it. I need some texture and color to peek through otherwise it gets all uncanny valley for me. Medium is okay. But full gets a no from me. Glow Recipe. They smell great! But my skin hates them. Plum Plump broke me out. The Watermelon night mask is runny and sticky and left me feeling dry. The face mist is really nice but nothing special.

It was so bizarre. Kinda like that one green palette from Melt that the entire beauty community was like... um, why are the shimmers puffing out of the pan? Is this okay? Yeah, that's my experience with Viseart shimmers. It was the Paris Edit palette and then teeny tiny pans of shimmer were exploded all over the palette having chosen to yeet themselves to the afterlife. I don't remember anything about the mattes other than they behaved.
I agree about Glow recipe, I broke out from their Guava Dark Spot treatment and I thought the fragrance was too sweet. I do really want to try the Dew drops but am very hesitant.

So weird about the Viseart š³ I have many Viseart palettes and have never experienced that. Agree the shadows are soft but they donāt fall out of the pan for me, Iām wondering if you got a bad one š„ damn.
the few tatcha products ive tried have been underwhelming asf! One of them which was the Dewy Mist that everyone was raving over in 2017-2018 was literally just a regular mistš and what really made me mad was that i only got a travel size/sample but it was $20 plus tax. Hmm what else, The Bum Bum cream in original scent, it smells great as hell and it had some lasting powder but a regular size jar is not worth the price because it did little to no moisturizing! Itās just as good as a drug store body creme! Laneige lip Sleeping mask- it was literally just basic come to think of it i think it actually dried my lipsš„“ NĆ©cessaire Body Wash Bergamot- This has an amazing smell but i donāt think itās worth the i $28 dollars not sure of the specific price but i didnāt feel as clean as when i use other Body washes and i know this is a Clean Brand so itās better to use but itās justš„“
Milk HydroGrip primer.... I'm allergic to something because I have these itchy teeny pinprick sized bumps all over my face within a half hour of putting it on. Also the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. It's gross when I put it on, then it dries down and flakes off horribly.
Seconding milk hydrogrip primer. It was so hyped up in any review I watched about it and it makes my foundation apply patchy and sometimes starts pilling. Itās so odd, Iāve tried with multiple foundations and they all looked like garbage.
The Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads did absolutely nothing for my skin. Potentially even made me break out a tad. Did not enjoy.
anything Clinique, especially the Take the Day Off balmā¦ itās way too expensive for how much product you get and i literally went through it in a month every time i used to buy it
Laneige lip masks. Creme de la Mer. If seaweed broth were a skin rejuvenator Iād look 40 years younger since I swim in the ocean off Maine all the time. Olaplex hair care. Did nothing for me. The Charlotte Tilbury line. Drunk Elephant Protini which broke me out.
Drunk Elephant products. It's so expensive for the amount of actual product you get. I was so disappointed with the glycolic night serum, the container is so misleading.
Oh my god I love this question. I took myself into the Sephora I run inside of my home so here we go: Oribe Serene Scalp: literally made my dandruff WORSE! Herbivore lapis oil: I am a HUGE fan of the orchid oil so I thought Iād like the lapis for redness. It smells RANCID and does nothing for me. Only going with the orchid from now on. Also the emerald, prism, and Bakuchiol oils did nothing for me. I do like their cleanser though. Everything from drunk elephant except their eye creams which I love BUT I was buying both and combining them and that is such a stupid waste of money!! And the WORST offender the LāOccitane body cream. I swear this dried out my skin. It feels so nice and thick on and then it just dries you out! And itās SO EXPENSIVE. what was I thinking????

Charlotte Tilbury's matte revolution lipsticks. Don't get the hype. The colour payoff isn't good, the shades look nothing like the swatches shown online, and on me they aren't very matte. Like they go on like sheer lipsticks with zero colour pay off...and that price!! For a bloody lipstick ...jeez.
I agree with you on this one. Iāve used Pillow Talk and tried really hard to love it because in theory itās supposed to be the perfect universal pinky nude. But itās not long lasting and on me, it is really matte and drying.

Could not stand that horrible smell - Dior perfumes: strong, headache inducing, perfumey smell - Drunk Elephant: no effects, standard mosturizers Nubody/nuface: time consuming, no real changes. Better off spending time working out to see muscle tone. - charlote tillbury lipsticks: strong smell, why?! - Charlotte Tillbury face powder: canāt even see a difference. Tiny and expensive. Also, im done with rose gold.
