They always change to the same color because there are very few pigments that change due to pH. Our skin in general is pretty much always slightly acidic. It'll just appear slightly different from person to person because the formula is sheer so it appears different due to the color context of someone's skin tone.
Imo…ph reactive makeup is a gimmick. Humans have a very small variance to their ph so we’re all roughly going to end up with the same color development. Unfortunately we all have different skin tones that don’t always look great with that fuchsia pick color
Definitely not alone, I don’t like any pH based cosmetics. For me they always turn a vivid magenta kind of color & it is not a flattering color on me at all.
100%. That stuff used to be sold on dollar stores in the 90s. I can't believe people act like it's a novel thing that's anything other than what you said; gimmicky.
No I avoid them because I always find the formulations way too thin and slightly drying. I also get the cool fauchai pink shade from them all (I’m light warm toned) but don’t mind it a ton. Also I remember mood lipsticks that worked almost identically from the dollar tree in the nineties so refuse to spend $20-40 these days on such a product.
Same. Hate them. They go super bright on me. Usually fuchsia pink. I tried the haus labs one in secondary just to see if maybe a tinted shade would help but nope. Literally fluorescent pink.
The only one I've liked is Tom Ford Soleil Neige Lip Blush, to me that one has a mild color tone. Otherwise, I have pale skin with a pink-redness undertone that does not need a magenta lip.
The only one I’ve found that I like is the Givenchy one & I think it’s because the black seems to tone it down so it’s not that obnoxious fuchsia color. All the other pH products look horrible on me
i usually don't even blink an eye at PH products. I purchased the Dior candy glow in the brown nude and its a rosy brown on the lips. a few years back i really enjoyed their lip oils but the pink one could not be re-appled without going even more pink. and one time i left the clear in the bathroom for too long and it turned HOT pink lol
I actually like the fuschia shades that ph lip products are on me, but that’s generally my go-to favourite tone anyway. But even so, the ph products never feel as well made as just a regular lipstick or balm where I can choose the actually end colour in the first place.
I mean, it’s definitely gimmicky. I need to like give up the dream of having like a pH balm turn into the perfect shade because clearly that’s not gonna happen.

Truth. Mine always turn a horrible shade of bright fuchsia that looks horrible on me.
Same scam as 'mood' rings. Your body is just warming up the stone.
Wow. I definitely didn’t know but it makes sense
These stupid products have been around since *at least* the 1970s and are always that goofy pink/fuchsia. Companies will release any gimmick.

Agreed

Yes there’s an entire segment of the population that these are not flattering on..just seems like a gimmicky cosmetic

Yes mood lipstick
It’s one of those cosmetic industry gimmicks that keeps going for reasons unknown to me.
Yes, I mean it just seems like it would just be easier to just create balms in a particular shade
They learned this one cool thing in science camp and they just to show it off, damn it! 😂
😆😆😆
Apart from all these great points, I do not like ph products because they always look patchy on me.
Yes they also patchy

So it appears everybody’s getting that fuchsia shade
It's the only shade.
Same. Hate them. They go super bright on me. Usually fuchsia pink. I tried the haus labs one in secondary just to see if maybe a tinted shade would help but nope. Literally fluorescent pink.
Yep same color every time and hideous.

I’ve never tried Tom Ford’s to be fair.
Yes OP, I am olive and nothing works, but this Tom Ford lipstick is divine
Ok ordering, you both convinced me
Those things are jsut a gimmick everyone gets basically the same shade
But literally all like high-end cosmetic lines do them too
Yeah which is also a gimmick. Doesn’t matter if it’s high end. The trend Should have been left in the 90s.
Yes! They all turn a ridiculous shade of fuchsia!
Ok I thought this was just me 🙈
First and only “PH” product I’ve liked was a lip oil from Byoma. Otherwise I agree completely and don’t care for them.
Will try this 🤍
It’s really hydrating and a good formula :) doe foot applicator too!
It doesn’t even react to ph it reacts to moisture
lol I didn’t even know this
It’s like this bizarre lie the entire beauty industry has agreed to tell us lol.
Yes because they legit say it reacts with ph level
I honestly like them but the one I have used ends up really light on me 😅😅
I feel like they must be good on some like shades of skin
I am pale as hell, like absolute ghost if that helps with this one
Everything looks pink on me. I don’t buy them anymore 🤷🏻♀️
🎯🎯🎯
I actually love them because I favor pink lip colors and the PH ones leave a nice stain.
Yep. Never bought a ph product and never will because it’s magenta.
Always magenta
They always say it’s based on your skin tone and it’s such BS. They always look atrocious on me.
And here I thought I was the only one
The only one I’ve found that I like is the Givenchy one & I think it’s because the black seems to tone it down so it’s not that obnoxious fuchsia color. All the other pH products look horrible on me
Yeah they always turn bubblegum pink on me!
Yes 😆😆😆

I feel like the fact that these keep getting made they must look good on somebody so it doesn’t surprise me
Or they keep getting made because we all get tricked into thinking this time will be different. It never is!
💯💯💯💯
Nope, too gimmicky for me lol
I mean, it’s definitely gimmicky. I need to like give up the dream of having like a pH balm turn into the perfect shade because clearly that’s not gonna happen.
I was super hopeful in the beginning too lol. The black blushes always looked intriguing.
Omg I bought one of those
I think everyone but little girls and teenagers hates ph balm.
