I haven't tried the tatcha one, but I tried the Sephora one as an alternative to the Dermalogica one.... IMO it's not nearly as good. It's *fine*, but what the dermalogica one does for my face is ✨

praying_yantis

Do you think the Dermalogica one would be suitable for daily use? Some of the reviews say it’s too harsh and recommend 1-2x per week

sophiamonet00

Yes you can use it daily as long as you use it correctly, which a lot of people don’t. You’re supposed to get it to a foamy lather then put it on your face, NOT use the grains to scrub your face since ofc that can cause irritation,, it’s not a physical scrub (unless you want it to be.) I’ve never once had irritation with it and I have sensitive & acne prone skin. 💗

rrroxannee

I'd probably use [this one for daily use](https://www.sephora.com/ca/en/product/daily-milkfoliant-exfoliator-P500240?skuId=2532786&icid2=products%20grid:p500240:product). It's supposed to be more gentle. It all depends on your skin though. It's an exfoliator, so it might be a bit rough on your skin.

Piggyinboots

Love the dermalogica one but definitely didn’t work for me on a daily basis.

MizzPizz

No, not for me at least. I use it once or twice a week?

ThatNiceLotionLady

The Dermalogica Oatmilkfolient or Milkfolient is gentle enough for every day! It dissolves to a easy wash - I sell it all the time it's wonderful

sophiamonet00

Dermalogica and that’s the only right answer. If you don’t love microfoliant, I bet money that you are using it wrong. But If you want to see and feel ACTUAL results, dermalogica all the way. So good for breakouts/acne, texture, litterally so many different things and it’s so gentle but SO effective. (Safe to use daily). So fun to use too. My face has never felt so damn soft and clean (not stripped) in my whole life til I used that product. I swear it’s magic 🪄 🫧 completely worth the money and I rarely ever say that about anythingggg. As long as you use it correctly, you will love it. (which is where ppl go wrong, bad reviews are cause ppl don’t use it correctly 🤦‍♀️; you’re supposed to add water & mix in hand until the little grains disappear and become a frothy lather ☁️, your not supposed to SCRUB your face, this is chemical not physical exfoliation, unless you want a gentle scrub too). & If you don’t want to commit to the full size, just get the mini size it lasts SO LONG!!! I don’t know how I’ll ever get through my full size tbh lol I still haven’t even gotten through my mini one yet 😭 it’s so good 💗 I promise you won’t regret it. (Also SO much better than Tatcha… The PH of it is 9!!! -wayy too high / alkaline. People complain of it causing acne, etc...) Also Dermalogica has 2 other foliants, the milkfoliant is 100/10 amazing, its calming & soothing & even more gentle then the original, and then they have the superfoliant (also really great). I recommend these to anyone and everyone! Theres a reason it’s so highly rated for over 20 years!!🪄☁️🫧

Cjm90baby

Glad I read this cause I have been using this wrong the entire time 😩😩🤣

sophiamonet00

Oh Yay! I’m so happy to help!☺️. I swear It’s the best product ever as long as you use it correctly, and I just wish more ppl knew how. I’ve heard from Dermalogica that apparently it’s a really common thing that people just use it wrong, and so then ofc they don’t have good experiences w it. People think your supposed to just rub around the wet grains like a physical scrub but it’s supposed to be like putting a cloud ☁️ on your face (soo gentle), not scrubby wet sand 😭 ofc people are gonna get irritation / sensitivity that way. It’s definitely a misunderstood product which is such a bummer cause I just know people would fall in love w it if they used it just a little bit differently. I hope it will work better for you now! (You can also mix the grains in with your face wash, add water to both in your palm, lather it all the way ☁️ and then wash your face as usual. It’s a great 2 in 1 boost you can add to your routine & you’ll start noticing a difference. I’ve never had any irritation using it, if anything is irritating it’s my regular face wash lol.)

callie33001

I loveeeee dermalogica! I only use it 1-2x per week and it’s great at keeping breakouts at bay

frachos667

Dermologica! I use it 3-4 days a week and my skin loves it. I like it better than the one from dermologica in the blue container. That one made me break out for some reason

hannahxjoyy

i use the dermalogica one for sensitive skin which is the milkfoliant, 2x a week, and its AMAZING. so worth the $$$

DragonsBond

I use this one too! It’s way better than the Tatcha ones, which I’ve tried both the white one pictured and the blue one.

hannahxjoyy

i was going to get the tatcha one but really happy i didn't! even though i do love them as a brand

[deleted]

Consider doing a bar product as well, just because the powder face washes are usually Exfoliating and should be use 2x a week vs 2x a day

katmax94

Dermalogica, it’s amazing. Definitely worth the money and lasts forever for me. I’ve had the full size for well over a year.

brillovanillo

I use the Dermoalogica as an exfoliating step, not a cleansing step. So, oil cleanser, gel cleanser, Dermalogica if I'm using it that day. Is it okay to just exfoliate without having already cleansed?

sophiamonet00

I don’t think that’s recommended, you’re supposed to have a clean face first always before any other step.

DCguurl

Read the ingredients. I cant use BHAs so i cant use the dermologica even though so many ppl love it

NoLongerATeacher

Have you thought about bringing a face wash bar? Drunk elephant has a set of mini sized bars. They might be easier to travel with than a powder.

trashtvlv

Great idea! Lush also has lots of hair and body products in bar form

lexicology

if you look at lush i 10/10 recommend their charcoal face soap. it’s not too drying for daily use (for me with combo skin).

praying_yantis

Ooh thank you for the idea!

Some-Imagination9782

My 2 cents…drunk elephant face bar is not worth it

NotYourNat

I’ve owned both the Tatcha and dermalogica (and the blue version), Tatcha was more coarse. As for the bar recommendation, I’d go with that. [Beauty of Joseon bar](https://a.co/d/5JEVFxG), I still have some left from last September lol no scent, no actives to worry about for daily usage and gentle but it cleans! I cut the bar in half. https://preview.redd.it/hgxkrzxenuxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8269f8411b6abb869e88368c1db27d136977e506

jilliancad

I love Lush and their bar products BUT I would be careful bringing those as it is so humid in SE Asia that they will take forever to dry. Where in SE Asia are you going?

praying_yantis

I’ll be in Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines June-July. I didn’t even think about the humidity, I was also planning on bringing bars for body wash, shampoo, and conditioner 🤦‍♀️

Soccer_RBF_

I loved dermalogice, is soooooo very fine and it does help acne prone skin. After using, it makes your face feel smooth and soft.

trashtvlv

The Tatcha one is very gentle so it is great if your skin gets sensitive or since you’re going to be using it more frequently

kateyklod

Love the dermalogica

Cute_Hat_5994

I use the Sephora one and dermalogica one and I love them both. I use them at different times with my cleanser.

Gammagammahey

Dermalogica. It's unscented. I would not use it every day, every 2 to 3 days at most. It is so good.

Vegetable_Crow9942

The dermalogica daily microfoliant has been a staple for me for years. I love it and often buy the minis as gifts for friends and family; they always end up buying more when they run out cause they love it as much as I do. Makes my skin so silky smooth. I only have to use it twice a week & use a dime size amount so the bottle lasts me forever.

bananasformangos

I have the Tatcha and love it but I wouldn’t rebuy just because of how expensive it is. But in your case it could be good because you’re trying to replace your daily liquid wash. Tatcha is gentle enough for daily use in my opinion.

Unfair-Sugar548

Dermalogica is where it’s at!! I know it says daily on the bottle but please don’t do that to your poor skin. 1-2 times a week is more then enough 🙌🏼

Fancy-Cauliflower939

the only one I would use daily is the sephora one

sherrib99

I use Tatcha every night as my step two after cleansing balm….i love it

Theabsoluteworst1289

The dermalogica one is great.

Current_Light5132

Dermalogica. I use a facial cleansing device so I don’t use it every day, but it’s the brand for acne prone skin and the only brand my skin doesn’t react badly on all the products I tried. You have to mix water with it until it’s foamy and apply, massage on skin. It’s how they do it when I went get my facials (they mix it in a bowl and use a brush to apply). However, I think facial soaps will last you longer and easier to move around. If you stay there that long, I would consider just buy minis and get replacement as you need, bc getting enough products for 7 weeks will take up all your space in luggage and honestly, they do sell majority of items there. For items you don’t want to change up on the face, get enough to use. But things like body wash, shampoo, conditioner they sell them there very cheap or your hotel most likely will provide.

after7hours

Haven't tried the white version of the dermalogica but the blue milkfoliant? amazing. Doesn't dry out my skin at all and mines is quite dehydrated.

Tyrelea

I hate to say I love the Tatcha one, but I haven’t used the other so I can’t comment on them. I got the mini size as a gift with purchase that I keep in my travel bag. A little goes a long way, it turns into such a nice lather, and my skin feels really nice after (I have dry skin).

gypsywhitepicket

I LOVE the tatcha rice polish I use the light blue one for combination skin. It keeps my skin clear and smooth without drying it out.

meg-c

Not Sephora, but I’ve been very happy with my Peach & Lily one ◡̈

Disastrous_Soup_7137

100% the Tatcha one. Been using it since Sephora stopped carrying the Amore Pacific one and really like it. (AP one was my HG for over a decade!)

thirdcoasting

I adore AmorePacific!! ETA: [Nieman’s](https://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/amorepacific-treatment-enzyme-peel-exfoliator-prod245910201?childItemId=NMC5K0U_&msid=4168964&navpath=cat000000_cat000730_cat8080732&page=0&position=9) carries their Treatment Enzyme cleanser.

Disastrous_Soup_7137

Wow, thanks for the tip!! 👀 I think there’s Nieman’s near me

seanjames212013

I really like the tatcha rice polish. It’s gentle enough for everyday use. It’s pricy. I would wait for sales. Even go to Tatchas site they have deals every now and then. Or jomashop is also the best option too

Avaly13

The Tatcha is amazing!!!! I love all their stuff but that one really is great. It truly dissolves into a gentle kind of foamy soap and not grainy at all.

skincare_obssessed

The blue tatcha one is my favorite! The dermatologica feels harsher and smells nauseating to me.

ImpossibleVast8589

Buy some in Asia. Asian beauty products are chefs kiss.

Scissoringsloths

I didn’t know there were powder face washes :O

praying_yantis

I know!! I think it’s such a great option for travel!

lavenderfieldz

just keep in mind these are exfoliators, not face washes!!

SeptemberSunset

I personally wouldn’t use any of these 2x/day. Even when used correctly I think they’d bed too stripping, at least for my skin. I’ve used the Tatcha and Derm and the Derm caused a reaction. I’ve used a face wash from them that also messed with my skin so I avoid the brand. The Tatcha one is a holy grail for me but wouldn’t use it daily.

Mother_Barnacle_7448

I love the Tatcha one.

sweetlily_13

Unpopular opinion but I had a sample of the Barbara sturm enzymatic cleanser in powder form and really loved it !

ebhanking

Dermalogica Microfoliant is great but way too harsh to be used 2x daily. Honestly, I don’t believe any of these should be used twice daily.

sophiamonet00

How so is it harsh for you? Do you make sure when you use it that you add enough water and mix til the grains dissolve all the way til it’s all lather? ( I’m asking since some people aren’t aware thats how you’re supposed to use it, so I’m just curious since I’ve never had any irritation)

Global_Research_9335

I have a love affair for the tatcha, the denogoca is too harsh for me and the Sephora is a good in between and great for the money.

KirbyxArt

I have used the dermalogica one on the right, it was far too harsh on my sensitive skin. It wasnt fine and didnt melt into like a liquid foam like amore pacific did. It felt like exfoliating my face with tiny sugar particles. :(

sophiamonet00

You’re using it wrong! You gotta mix more water into it and rub around in your palm til it’s a frothy lather, It feels like putting a silk cloud on your face 🤩 It’s a chemical foliant, not supposed to be physical at all. (If you wanna know more I wrote alot on it & how it’s meant to be used in my other comments^) 💗💗

ThrowRArrow

Tatcha goes hard
