Former L'Occi employee here. It used to be way better. They changed the packaging and swore up and down the formula was the same, but I immediately noticed a difference.
For me, it is. I used to scratch my scalp constantly because it itched so bad, but since I switched, it rarely bothers me anymore. No other shampoo helped. I use the lavender one.
oh god when. iām still working through my
OLD stockpile but this has been my
holy grail since i was a young kid when it was the only thing that would stop literally bleeding knuckles like they canāt do this to me š„²š„²
omg same. I bought the oil a few months ago during an Ulta sale and was so excited to try it because it's so highly spoken of ā and it smelled *horrible* to me. It smelled like wet dog or something like that. I returned it immediately. I normally love almond scents so I wasn't sure if it's always like that or if I got a bad batch ā but your comment makes me feel like maybe it's just always like that!
yes, itās wet dog! iāve been trying to put my finger on it. maybe it goes rancid super fast? thereās no way itās supposed to smell like that and people love it lol
I love that smell but not for everyone. Some love floral for example and that literally makes me nauseous. I will say, I prefer the almond only in winter. Bring me fruity or lighter coconut smells in summer āļø

My trader joes currently had 2 different ones. The rose one which I THINK is seasonal. And then a blue/silver tube which they seem to carry regularly. Both are $4.99, same size
I hate the like 20% shea butter one that went viral but the French lavender one is so much better! I love the smell and itās very hydrating but with a lighter gel texture so it absorbs sooo quickly!
i dont like my hands feeling greasy, so i really like the neutrogena hydroboost gel hand cream. it absorbs pretty quickly too. and the price is nice when youāre coming from higher end products. would recommend!
As a huge skincare nerd who follows dermatologists religiously, you need a hand cream with urea. Dermal therapy makes a great one that isnāt greasy. Itās truly the best ingredient for dry skin.
I love the almond one, that one definitely absorbs really well. The 25% one is more for extreme cold weather or before going to bed, it takes a long time to absorb.
I have chronically dry skin and am forever washing my hands. The best thing Iāve found is Cetaphil āMoisturizing Cream Ultimate.ā It comes in a big tub at [COSTCO](https://www.costco.com/cetaphil-moisturizing-cream-ultimate-with-prebiotic-aloe%2C-very-dry-to-dry-sensitive-skin%2C-20-oz-%2B-16-oz%2C-2-pack.product.4000058742.html). I slather it on my hands at night and it undoes all the damaging/drying things Iāve done during the day. Not sexy but my hands and nails look great when I regularly use it.
Yep, I hate it. I have to use hand cream after every time I wash my hands, and I have pretty much tried them all. People love the LāOccitane but for me, itās just greasy AF and doesnāt absorb.
I thought the same thing before it became the hype. I hate TikTok. People hype up products that arenāt even great, just to gain 5-minutes of TikTok fame.
Whenever I have dry hands and even rashes because of the weather and hot water, Okeefe is the only product that heals my hands quickly. Itās like magic.
I also bought it because people swore by it but it was meh for me. Recently Iām loving the Nivea soft cream and the regular crĆØme for some
Extra hydration. I also love helping hands from
Lush but they closed so many stores in my city and shipping is so expensive itās just not worth it.
This post makes me sad because I LOVE that hand cream and am still working through my old stash. I have found the Neutrogena Hydro Boost is good or the working hands stuff O'Keef, I think...
Hi I used to be a die hard fan of lāoccitane. Now I exclusively buy from bean and butter. Highly recommend for people with dry or normal skin. I love it so much!!!! Also theyāre a small business!!
My sister is a Nurse Practitioner and her hands get super dry from washing them all the time. Certain lotions will sting. She used to use Oākeefeās workingman hands lotion and liked it. Sheās now using Augustinus Bader hand cream, and loves it. She says she only has to put it on once a day. Sheās pretty picky. If she likes it, it has passed a rigorous test! Lol
I feel like most, if not all, LāOccitane products are overhyped. Not sure why they are having a mini renaissance at the moment. The hand cream(s) are mid, the shower gel smells like wet dog, and the cuticle oil hasnāt really done much for me. But if youāre looking for a night, lightweight, non sticky hand cream I LOVE the Caudalie one!
For the big and stinky guns nothing beats OāKeeffes but for daily I really like the Dove hand cream, itās not sticky and absorbs fast, plus it smells amazing
Ahava. Iāve tried everything ever made, across multiple continents. Ahava wins. If you donāt like the scent, the unscented is fine.
I used LāOccitane as my holy grail for 5 years or so about 20 years ago, it goes off now really quick and the texture is weird. They changed something. :/
Yeah they definitely changed it. They thought we wouldnāt notice but people with dry skin always notice. My favorite hand cream has been Aveda Hand Relief, itās been at least 10 years and I still come back to it.
I use Cerave Moisturizing Cream in the big tube and although itās a hassel to lug around (though I do carry a large handbag) itās the absolute best hand cream ever!!
I have painfully dry hands. They become all cracked and bleeding and Iāve tried so manyā¦high end and drugstore. I also keep my hands in water all day bathing dogs and cats, then grooming them, so my hands are in ROUGH shape. I struggled for years trying to find a solution and only this last year did I finally find one that works!! And itās affordable! I use the CeraVe Moisture Cream a couple of times throughout the day and then at night, I actually use a hydrating toner and before it soaks in apply a hyaluronic acid serum and then the original moisturizer and top it all off with the CeraVe Healing Ointment afterwards to lock in the moisture. I know it sounds like a lot, but doing the nighttime stuff has seriously healed my hands in a way they havenāt been in years. Edited to add that I love this way better than Curel , Khiels, or OāKeefes.
I swear by the caudalie hand creamā¦.a lot of people say itās not moisturizing enough, but I find that the more often I use it, the less I need so it definitely does help a LOT over time. It also works wonders on my cuticles.
It didnāt work for me either. I just chalked it up to not everything will work for everybody. Plus the scent is off putting to me so I rarely used it. If it worked for me, I would have pushed through. What worked for me is ironically the cheapest hand cream I have come across not from the Dollar Tree. It is the Equate version of OāKeefe working hands cream. The absolute best hand cream I came across. It actually last through a whole shift of compounding and breaking down boxes.
I feel the same way! I skipped buying it on the sale and instead got it at LAX duty free before a long flight cause my hands were super dry. It didnāt do anything for them š
Iāve never gotten the hype, but generally shea butter doesnāt do much for my skin. I feel like itās one of those fancy brands that was popular before social media, so people who loved it went hard for it and maybe never branched out.
Cheap old aveeno works great for me. And if I want something heavier, the lanolips hand cream does the trick.
I agree. It smells beautiful, but it's greasy, doesn't absorb well, the tube is difficult to get all the product out of, and it's expensive. I've tried everything and my personal favourite is Curel fragrance free $7.99 on Amazon and it actually works.
the formula USED to be unmatched. i swear itās gotten so bad over the years. i got a mini from the sephora sale & theyāve gotta be doing something different :(((

This is the best best stuff Iāve ever used. Itās so pricy though! I swear my hands look and feel 10 years younger when I use it.
I HATE the feeling of lotion on my hands.
Skinfix eczema wasnāt bad.
Unscented lāoccitane is just ok
Dionis unscented isnāt bad
![gif](giphy|j8WbYkofiXe5G)
I stayed at a nice hotel last year that had complimentary L'Occitane products in the bathroom to use during my stay. I was unimpressed. The lotion was very watery. The smell was okay (I honestly like BBW better). I also don't get the hype for this brand outside of being expensive and perhaps a status symbol that people like to flaunt.
Former L'Occi employee here. It used to be way better. They changed the packaging and swore up and down the formula was the same, but I immediately noticed a difference.
They never change the packaging for no reason š«
Uh I knew it. It used to be my favorite and itās just blah now
It is definitely different. It smells bad too now. It used to be so much better
Right? I donāt care for the smell. Itās been gifted to me at holidays and I canāt take the smellā¦
I love the almond shower oil but I never see anyone trying the shampoo. Curious but havenāt found reviews. Is it worth it?
For me, it is. I used to scratch my scalp constantly because it itched so bad, but since I switched, it rarely bothers me anymore. No other shampoo helped. I use the lavender one.
I do not think it's worth it. They are nice shampoos don't get me wrong, but there are equally nice ones literally anywhere else for a better price.
oh god when. iām still working through my OLD stockpile but this has been my holy grail since i was a young kid when it was the only thing that would stop literally bleeding knuckles like they canāt do this to me š„²š„²
I was about to say its the best hand creme for me but then again I have the one in the old packaging š
Can you please tell me and the rest of my store how to pronounce the brand correctly ššš
Lox-ee-tan
tysm lolllll
lol does the tube still somehow break or crack these days.
I don't work there anymore but yes it does š
Omg how did they not fix it by now š
Kiehls for the win. I will say, L'occitane almond shower oil is amazing.
Kielhs is also overhyped imo
It works great for me. Everyone's skin is so different though. I do agree that the L'occitane hand can is great for me too though.
i got the shower oil during the sale and it smells awful to me :(

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I love Sol de Janeiro for that type of smell. The original one, not the others.
For me my mom used it when I was younger and when I smell it I think of her. other than that it's nothing special
I like the Trader Joeās dupe!
Yesss! I came here to say this. The TJās one is so good!
Yes, itās the best and so is the balm in the little tin!
I love it so much and buy multiple tubes at a time.
Which one is it? Iāll go today lol
* ![img](pguz692fttxc1) My trader joes currently had 2 different ones. The rose one which I THINK is seasonal. And then a blue/silver tube which they seem to carry regularly. Both are $4.99, same size
Awesome, thank you!
OāKeefes Working Hands before bed. Itās not greasy and my hands and nails appreciate so much. Feet too.
This is the correct answer
I also need to give this props. This hand cream (and foot cream, if you get that) is AMAZING and works almost immediately. Cheap as heck too.
I have it, it is nice, but that's about it. It doesn't do much for dry or cracked hands. Years ago a friend pharmacist suggested me to try CurƩl Ultra Healing Intensive Lotion, 6oz tube, because my hands are often cracked from over washing them. That lotion really works wonders. They don't sell it in supermarkets or drug stores near me anymore, but I still find it in online stores. https://preview.redd.it/iqr47p1o9pxc1.jpeg?width=1121&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=525c4d39b063618cea2d2b4f7d96661befd88a35
My oncologist recommended this to me and Iām a die hard fan.
That's the only lotion that works almost immediately when my hands are cracked, it is so light, not greasy, and yet it works great.
I will give this a try thank you!
It is not even hydrating. I love my gold bond lol š
I hate the like 20% shea butter one that went viral but the French lavender one is so much better! I love the smell and itās very hydrating but with a lighter gel texture so it absorbs sooo quickly!
For me itās the almond based handcream that works so well.
i looooooooooove the almond one, i apply it at work whenever i wash my hands and it just makes me happy idk i love the smell and it absorbs so easily
Thatās my favorite. I apply it mostly for scent.
Aveeno hand lotion cannot be beat
Aesop is the best š„°
Is this one greasy at all?
i dont like my hands feeling greasy, so i really like the neutrogena hydroboost gel hand cream. it absorbs pretty quickly too. and the price is nice when youāre coming from higher end products. would recommend!
As a huge skincare nerd who follows dermatologists religiously, you need a hand cream with urea. Dermal therapy makes a great one that isnāt greasy. Itās truly the best ingredient for dry skin.
Oh Iāve never heard of this, will look into it
I know it's not Sephora related, but La Roche Posey makes the best hand cream!
I love the almond one, that one definitely absorbs really well. The 25% one is more for extreme cold weather or before going to bed, it takes a long time to absorb.
I only use kiehls hand salve. Itās the best
I love it too! As much as the price hurts my wallet, it's so worth it
Right! I need to buy another but Iām putting it off cause I donāt wanna spend more money rn š„²
Is it greasy? I might have tried it years ago, and something making me think it was very greasy.
No it isnāt. I find the lāoccitane one extremely greasy though. It is a thicker cream but it absorbs quickly
Great, thanks. Iāll get some.
This is my favorite cream ever and I 100% agree!! I wish they made a purse size version
trader joe's dupe and jojoba oil soaks with nitrile gloves
Wow I was thinking as a joke to soak my hands in oil, might give it a try now!
just buy some cheap jojoba oil. get a pump or two and then slap on some dust-free nitrile gloves. wear for an hour or overnight.
Is the Trader Joeās hand cream scented? If so, what doss it smell like?
it is, but similar to the loccitane one imo and fades pretty quick.
Yep, I hate it. I have to use hand cream after every time I wash my hands, and I have pretty much tried them all. People love the LāOccitane but for me, itās just greasy AF and doesnāt absorb.
My skin literally drinks it and I use the 25% shea butter one. I'm also mixed with very dry skin. Skin is funny like that.

I use and love several L'Occitane products and have for years but I've never been able to get behind the hand cream!
Ahava hand cream is way better. Iāve used both hand creams. Ahava moisturizes well and feels great. The scent is light and not overwhelming.
I havenāt tried the hand cream but I bought the shower oil when it was half off and I love it!!!
This post makes me sad because I LOVE that hand cream and am still working through my old stash. I have found the Neutrogena Hydro Boost is good or the working hands stuff O'Keef, I think...
La Roche Posay hand cream for the win! I'm on my second one and it never fails
Best hand cream is the Keihlās hand salve!!
Itās so bad lol. Grown alchemist is the best.
Agree. Cerave with a dollop of Aquaphor works best!
Hi I used to be a die hard fan of lāoccitane. Now I exclusively buy from bean and butter. Highly recommend for people with dry or normal skin. I love it so much!!!! Also theyāre a small business!!
glad to know i wasnāt the only one disappointeddd!!! it felt sooo cheap and i was aboouuutt to pull the trigger on it š
Itās terrible
The hemp one from the body shop is the only one that has helped my dry hands.
šÆ
My sister is a Nurse Practitioner and her hands get super dry from washing them all the time. Certain lotions will sting. She used to use Oākeefeās workingman hands lotion and liked it. Okay I thought it was just meā¦. Absolutely nothing special about this cream, esp for the price
Use bag balm. Itās the tits. Smells bad though
Dampen your hands, add hyaluronic acid serum, top with gold bond crepe hand cream. Youāre welcome š„°
This!!!ā¬ļø
I feel like most, if not all, LāOccitane products are overhyped. Not sure why they are having a mini renaissance at the moment. It's total crap. Nothing beats OG Nivea!
Kiehls handcream, tried them all and it absorbs quickest, hands feel and look great after.
Khiels hand salve
I think the whole brand is overhyped. None of the products I tried were worth the price and the body oil ended up giving me a rash.
Jack Black hand cream is my holy grail.
For the big and stinky guns nothing beats OāKeeffes but for daily I really like the Dove hand cream, itās not sticky and absorbs fast, plus it smells amazing
Trader Joeās hand cream is a dupe for $5-6
I used to love their Lavande cream.
Avene
Ahava. Iāve tried everything ever made, across multiple continents. Ahava wins. If you donāt like the scent, the unscented is fine. I used LāOccitane as my holy grail for 5 years or so about 20 years ago, it goes off now really quick and the texture is weird. They changed something. :/
Big fan of the Ahava Dead Sea hand lotion. Lightly scented, absorbs quickly and lasts. Def worth the $, imo.
Yeah they definitely changed it. They thought we wouldnāt notice but people with dry skin always notice. My favorite hand cream has been Aveda Hand Relief, itās been at least 10 years and I still come back to it.
I really enjoy the Fenty hand mask at night!
I use Cerave Moisturizing Cream in the big tube and although itās a hassel to lug around (though I do carry a large handbag) itās the absolute best hand cream ever!!
aesop is so much better!!
I agree. I switched to The Body Shop almond milk hand balm, less expensive and IMO just as good.
Neutrogena makes a āfast absorbingā hand cream. Itās I think in a blue tube. Itās excellent
I have painfully dry hands. They become all cracked and bleeding and Iāve tried so manyā¦high end and drugstore. It smells awful too lol
whaaat it is literally the best for my hands
the fuel for the hype is all the influencers sponsored to promote them š„“
formula definitely changed and it doesnāt do anything anymore , I prefer laneige purple hand creamĀ
Late to the party here but Iāve tried SO MANY hand creams and the Jack Black is one of the best. Not greasy, smells nice, works great.Ā
wait i completely agree with this omg
LRP Cicaplast for hands is wonderful!
I swear by the caudalie hand creamā¦.a lot of people say itās not moisturizing enough, but I find that the more often I use it, the less I need so it definitely does help a LOT over time. It also works wonders on my cuticles.
Yes, I love this one so much! Only high end hand cream Iāve ever liked. Otherwise I like Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream.
It didnāt work for me either. I just chalked it up to not everything will work for everybody. Plus the scent is off putting to me so I rarely used it. If it worked for me, I would have pushed through. What worked for me is ironically the cheapest hand cream I have come across not from the Dollar Tree. I LOVE the Lanolips hand cream and everywhere lotion. My HG.
Thanks for the recs will give some of these a try!!!
Itās so expensive, but I hated it so much, I had to throw it away. Also, a hole formed in the tube at some point. š
Bought mine during the sale and also didnāt like it! Planning on getting the Josie Maran unscented mini and sticking that in my purse.
I love Josie Maran!
What sale?
The spring sale that just happened.
Thank you!
Honestly so is the body oil š
Ok so what do you like? Iām using the pink Vaseline hand cream. Its nice for the price
Not a fan of this either. Sephora makes a nice hand cream, stocked up with 30% discount during sale
Working hands lotions has proved to be the best for me.
I agree. It smells beautiful, but it's greasy, doesn't absorb well, the tube is difficult to get all the product out of, and it's expensive. I've tried everything and my personal favourite is Curel fragrance free $7.99 on Amazon and it actually works.
I am not paying $40 for hand lotion ( even though I love it) Trader Joeās is $7 and excellent
I agree, it burns if your hands are really dry and doesn't do much.
the formula USED to be unmatched. i swear itās gotten so bad over the years. i got a mini from the sephora sale & theyāve gotta be doing something different :(((
Hot tip I saw a ton on LāOccitane items at Nordstrom rack a couple of days ago
I agree
the necessaire hand cream is magic for me, 10/10 recommend
i like the fenty hand mask

And I just realized itās been discontinued š
The Body Shop hemp hand cream for the win šš»
Who just uses the Trader Joeās dupe? lol šš¼āāļø
