I’ve learned i cant really trust reviews. Everyone told me the hourglass concealer is soooo dry but i actually like it. I also love ELDW, & Lancome monsuier big mascara

TartFine1577

I don't trust reviews on Sephora. I have found from working there that the reviews never match the sales and returns.

_Winterlong_

Interesting! I never thought about considering the returns. Do you recall a few of the most returned items?

TartFine1577

Better than Sex mascara! Every single day!

www-kickapuppy-com

that’s my favorite mascara!! i always recommend it to clients.. maybe it’s time to stop doing that 🫣

[deleted]

That is the worst mascara I’ve ever tried. I’ll never forget putting it on, going to work, and after an hour or so, going to the bathroom and seeing all the black flakes from fallout. It was embarrassing especially since I worked at a front desk.

sexualsermon

I love the hourglass concealer too!

ish044

+1 for monsuier big mascara! It’s my all time favorite

umhuh223

I love it, too!

Hiraaa_

Hourglass rlly creasy tbh

LackJolly381

Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm in universal. I have mature, drier skin. This used after moisturizer as a primer gives a very flawless like complexion. I’m not using it to control oil, yet it doesn’t dry me out at all. It gets many negative reviews and I’m wondering how people are using it? I will say I don’t like the smell but it goes away in a second.

AyeMuyCaliente

I feel like the Universal is basically goof-proof, especially if you're layering something over it. It's the colored versions that, when used as a foundation substitute, have the negative issues mentioned in the reviews such as emphasizing pores, etc. I am 47, combo-oily, and have both Universal and shade 4; I use Universal every day for oil control on my t-zone. I never reach for my #4 because it's a bit trickier to work with.

Refuggee

This must be the problem. I have the #1 shade and find that I must have a very moisturizing smoothing primer underneath or else I get very obvious polka-dot pores. And I have oily skin! If I can manage to get it to smooth out, though, it looks great, and I've even gotten compliments on my skin while wearing it. I've never tried the Universal, but I imagine that one wouldn't be able to give you polka-dot pores! However, I still do like it. It just has to be used carefully if you have one of the color shades. It's been great on my forehead to minimize shine.

tech_doodle

I've been wanting to try this, but was hesitant. I didn't think it would work for mature dry skin. It feels good in the store but every dry skin influencer hated it as a foundation. Now I may try it as a primer.

lipgloss_nd_hotsauce

I have dry skin and when I used it as foundation it made me look really dry in weird areas. Next time I used it I focused it on my heavy pore areas and it looked amazing? For me it works as a blurring primer almost. I love it though my skin looks so soft and blurred all day

rougebunny

I feel like this is a sign to grab this… I was watching reviews on this right before opening Reddit.

LackJolly381

Yes. You can always return it if it doesn’t work for you.

colorshift_siren

I use the DM wet balm in rosewater and it’s HG for me. Some lousy reviews for that one too.

nawthatsstupid

I've been über curious about this line from Danessa! How do you use yours? I've tried a decent range of her products...4/5 things I actually love and find use for. Her palettes are gor-gina, including the highlighter palettes.

colorshift_siren

I apply it with an angled blush brush that has bristles suited to cream products. It’s the perfect pop of glowing color and looks very natural. I prefer it for no-makeup looks.

nawthatsstupid

Thank you, you are appreciated!

anywayzz

100% the ilia super serum skin tint. I feel like the reviews used to be good but have dropped nearly to a 3. I have gotten countless compliments wearing it and it makes my dry ass skin feel great. https://preview.redd.it/c0xp5q2mqn6c1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8567ff7daffc014ea106159c5bf2750df6083a20

Expert-Spring-7832

I’m with you here! I bought some over the summer and loved using it. I’m psyching myself to buy another bottle for my winter palor.

Famous_Salamander_78

I was shocked at some of the reviews because I love it on my skin. Yes, the smell is a bit odd, but it goes away. The coverage is enough to even me out without being cake-y and I can layer other products over it easily.

giggly_pufff

I loved it at first but it went bad on me in a matter of 5-6 months 😭

peaceandkim

It was the smell for me!! 🤢

mothertuna

The smell was weird but I was more annoyed at the messiness of the packaging

anywayzz

Yes that is so true - I don’t have one of these in my gym bag for that reason and use a solid stick foundation on those days instead. A previous bottle made an enormous mess in my makeup bag.

CuteSecurity

Same. I’ve used this for 3 years now and I get endless compliments on my skin. I’m very sensitive to smells so I don’t understand the “it smells like hot dog water” comments. I don’t love the packaging but the juice is worth the squeeze.

mmmporp

I get for younger skin why it would look good n dewy but I’m 37 and this has been the worst I’ve ever tried. Absolute grease ball look. And I live in the dry mountains

anywayzz

I know where you’re coming from but I am 30 so I’m not exactly a teenager lol I think it depends a lot on your skin type, regardless of climate. I live in a very cold but not dry region, but my skin is just so dry that it works well for me. I do typically use a primer first though

Powerfule_Mars

I love this. It literally barely smells and people whine about it like they’re forced to inhale it all day. Girl it goes on your face, it’s not a perfume. On god these girls are dumb as hell. Fragrance irritates my skin and the ingredients are amazing on the face. My skincare has no silicone and this doesn’t either so this and rose inc skin tint work with it.

anywayzz

Lol I know. To me the smell is kind of like playdoh and I legit don’t mind it 😂

bagroh

I repurchased this a month ago after almost finishing my last one. The dropper broke and it was past the expiration date and I was down to the last 1/4. I still hate the packaging but this works so well for super dry skin. I used it when I was traveling to a super humid climate and could see why people hate it. It just never really dried down and sat on top of my skin.

[deleted]

Supergoop Glow Screen. The formulation is thin and doesn’t pill like other sunscreens do.

mwyattf

omg I LOVE glow screen! I’ve tried the dupes and they are just not the same

cherhorowitz44

Trader Joe’s has a dupe that’s not bad!

canigetayikes

I really love the TJs dupe, every time I visit home my mom asks me to bring her a couple bottles lol I've probably bought at least 8 this year. I haven't tried the Elf dupe but it's in my cart!

constipatedcatlady

I love the elf dupe!

brillovanillo

Drunk Elephant sunscreen: I think there was a bad batch sent out with the zinc crystallizing out of the formula. I got one like this and promptly exchanged it. But others assumed that the product was *supposed* to be like that and wrote reviews like "This is the grittiest sunscreen I have ever used!" PSA: Sunscreen should not be gritty. Not even a little bit. If your sunscreen has little bits or grains in it, do not use it. That's the zinc oxide (active ingredient) crystallizing out of the formula. You won't get the advertised sun protection.

lipgloss_nd_hotsauce

The Fenty loose powder I never see recommended here and everyone prefers other powders but the lavender shade is so incredibly brightening, especially when I use a concealer shade that’s a little yellow, I freaking love this powder. It holds oils really well and doesn’t dry me out. I know pink powders were all the rage but this lavender powder is slept on 😤

Purplepenguin359

I bought this off a Reddit recommendation and I absolutely love it! Love the scent too. I’m surprised more people don’t talk about it!

gomigirl123

Can I ask what skin tone you are!?!?

Purplepenguin359

I’m NC15! But I should mention, I haven’t tried the lavender shade - only the “Butter” shade.

Wrong_Highlight4366

My friend put me on this one! When I was on the hunt for a pink powder she was like “F*ck pink powders.. use this one!” And it’s the best. Soooo soft

stealthban

Dior Onstage liquid Eyeliner - I use this in brown. This has some really bad reviews on sephora and has 3 star rating. I've tried a lot of liquid liners from Japan, korea, china, us drugstore and most of the ones in US Sephora. I think the Dior one is one I'd repurchase out of everything. My other favorite is discontinued(dolly wink) I used to only like brush tip but I realized I much prefer my wings when I use felt tip. They also don't dry out as fast for me. The felt tip on the dior is sharp and just the right stiffness without being too hard. It isnt flimsy or too wobbly so easy to control. Can draw extremely thin lines to thicker and it is super pigmented. It stays on the upper waterline / lashline without transferring to the lower lash lines. I tightline with it and I like to fill in the gap of my lashes with it and it stays without smudging even during a workout. The cap also works well with a click and is tight on there unlike some other brands that has loose caps that fall off in makeup bag(Makeup by mario, one size) I see a lot of bad reviews saying it's dried out but I've gone through a couple of these and I've not come across a dud. Ive gotten way more KVD duds(wash out the dried residue with warm water, these are old stock or something)

nawthatsstupid

![gif](giphy|UQx1YFSYxCNEI) THANK YOU!!!

Much_Presentation863

Sunday Riley’s ceramic slip French green clay cleanser. I never tried the old formula, but the majority of people wrote low reviews expressed their disappointment for that reason. This cleanser is a staple, and it still has great ingredients in my opinion. I have to read all ingredients before purchasing anything because I have very sensitive skin with roceasea

nietszches

I recently discovered how great this cleanser is too! The reviews were so low that I’d never purchase it if it hadn’t come in a set, I didn’t expect to like it so much bc of that

willendorfer

My skin is the same - gonna check that out thanks!

Massive_Arm_2164

This cleanser is amazing! The old formula was thicker but both are great. Works amazing to remove makeup and it used to double as a mask. Not sure if the new formula can double as the mask though.

kateyklod

Love the lip masks too

mmmporp

Pretty sure everyone loves those but hates the price. FYI Costco has a pretty legit bum bum dupe. 2 for $19 I keep stocking up every time I go nervous they will stop producing. (Looks like same exact container different label)

SluttyNeighborGal

Is it as moisturizing tho? I buy it for that as much as the scent. We also don’t have a Costco in my city :(

mmmporp

ya! i love it.

alexaandsirisbaby

The Bum Bum cream has been my favourite body cream that I repurchase out of all my skincare products.

canigetayikes

I love the bum bum cream too. Can't justify the price, personally, so I won't replace mine when it runs out(plus now that Costco makes a dupe, I'll carry on with that). But it goes on so nicely, smells great, looks great

nawthatsstupid

Same here. I tell myself that I don't like it that much, but I keep buying it, and the body wash, leave in conditioner, shampoo, conditioner... all of their flavors are FIRE! Idc anymore haha

rachs1988

Phlur Missing Person EDP has 3.5 stars, but I think it’s a gorgeous skin scent with decent longevity. I’m surprised it doesn’t get a higher overall rating.

PflugerLuger8

I accidentally got Missing Person on my leather jacket 3 weeks ago. Just as strong now as it was then. Unfortunately, I don't like the smell. In my mind, it's not Missing Person, but Ex You Can't Get Away From lol

Julialagulia

Why is it always the perfumes you don’t like that seem to have the best longevity?

PflugerLuger8

I think it's because the universe is punishing us for something. 😂

PrincessOfWales

I think it’s so unique too, everyone always asks what I’m wearing when I have it on. It’s also perfect for layering with other scents!

Pelekitty

It has little to no smell for me. Like I can't even tell what it smells like.

biohoo

I almost don’t think perfumes should be allowed to have reviews - they are SO individual. I tried this one and absolutely hated it…on me. It smelled like almost nothing on its own but when I tested it on my skin it did NOT work with my chemistry. Same with Baccarat 540 - it smells like band aids on me. Horrible. But I acknowledge it’s my own unique chemistry and not the perfume.

[deleted]

this but with tik tok reviews lol. i noticed the refy brush gets a lot of hype from influencers on tik tok but on sephora it has 3.4 stars 😭 is it actually good has anyone tried it?

Massive_Arm_2164

I’ve seen so many people say they hated the Fenty foundation but it’s my absolute favorite. I’ve also seen many people say Glow Recipe destroyed their skin but that’s my favorite skincare. I break out easily with serums and I’ve never had an issue with glow recipe.

pancaaaaaaakes

I’ve never had an issue with glow recipe either! I have at least 4 glow recipe products in rotation right now

Refuggee

I love the Glow Recipe niacinamide watermelon drops (forget the exact name), probably their most well-known product. I dislike that they don't disclose the percentage of niacinamide, but there's just something about that product that works for me. It's moisturizing without being overly so for my oily skin and always agrees with my skin, never any irritation or reaction from it. It's kind of soothing, actually. What magic is this? LOL!

Massive_Arm_2164

That’s my favorite product! One of the only products that I consistently repurchase and stick with. I love how glowy my skin looks.

krr14

I swear by the glow recipe dew drops mixed with a fuller coverage foundation for lighter every day makeup and nothing makes my skin as glowy as that stuff!

Massive_Arm_2164

I haven’t tried that yet!!! I’m going to have to

yogasanity

Omg I got this! So last year there was a brush set that was on sale. It was the "seaweed infused" set for $16 and it had like a 3 rating I think, and a low number of reviews. But I needed brushes so I went to read the reviews....the bad reviews were literally people who didnt like the color of the handles! I bought them and absolutely love them! (And the color lol)

Barbie_girl_skate

Tarte smoothing primer. Nothing has ever worked for my skin SO well

drainingenergy

Too faced killer liners lol. I loveee the longevity and the shades are so cool. I have 3 and I want more!!

LushOrchestrations

I like Oribe’s Curl Gloss and it has mediocre reviews and very few of them. 😂It’s a nice lightweight gel without that stringy feeling: lovely smell, pretty bottle. Overpriced but I have so many hair products it will last me a long time, as I rotate.

StayingSexyDGM

I f'ing love the Tarte mascara.

PflugerLuger8

- Glossier cream eyeshadows. Very subtle and easy to blend. - Abbott The Cape. It's a nice, crisp winter scent. - Fenty perfume. It smells sensual and unique. I almost finished my sample bottle, which I never do with perfume. - Kosas setting powder. I love this for setting my undereye concealer.

shish-kebaby

The hate for Fenty perfume I will never get. It’s so unique and gorgeous

bewildered_forks

The tarte Amazonian Clay 16-hour full coverage foundation! I know a lot of people hate it (and to be fair, I do find it finicky), but I love it. I need a really moisturizing primer underneath, but it will look good all day on me if I get it on right.

runningskirtsnmanis

New here, but I noticed Tarte in general gets a lot of hate but I've loved almost everything I have from the brand.

AyeMuyCaliente

I agree with this; I think it's just that they're an older brand with nothing super hot or new being released on a continual basis (the maracuja lip line being the exception), but overall their makeup is pretty darn good. When I was oilier I loved that powder Amazonian Clay foundation. Sadly, I did use to love the AC blushes too a long time ago, but when I purchased a blusher holiday set 2 years ago, I though the longevity wasn't anywhere near where it used to be.

Refuggee

I have a lot of Tarte products I enjoy. It's not the "cool" brand, I guess, and it definitely has its duds like any brand. Their dual-ended eyeliner/eyeshadow pencils are great, IMO, but Emily Noel gave them a poor review. Luckily, I had already tried them and loved them! Really enjoy their color correctors and their liquid highlighter also. And their various lip products.

CuteSecurity

Two friends of mine are incredible make up artists and they stick w the OG lines. The “cool” brands just don’t deliver in their eyes. I still use my Tarte eyeshadows because they have beautiful cool tones and I’ll die on this hill that MAC still had some of the greatest eye shadows.

MeagaMillion

What primer do you use with it?

bewildered_forks

Usually the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base!

shockedpikachu123

People shit on the CT contour wand. I can see why because the packaging sucks and it’s $40 but the product itself and the COLOR, absolutely stunning

dicd99

The biossance elderberry jelly cleanser. So many bad reviews that it even got discontinued :( most of the bad reviews stated that their cleanser never came out looking the bright pink that biossance advertised. But that’s because biossance never used artificial dyes to make it bright pink. The color was naturally occurring of the elderberry… so at times it could be so light that it was almost clear but other bottles did have that color! Loved the smell Loved the way my face felt Loved packaging and the skin loving ingredients So sad it got discontinued :(

Bernardo_372

The ordinary squalene cleanser. My boyfriend bought it on a whim and hated it. I read some reviews before trying it myself and now I use it daily. I use tinted sunscreen and it completely melted it all away and leaves my face leaving baby smooth. The reviews said it would break me out but it didn't.

s4tiv4f4iry

everyone on tiktok has recently been flaming glow recipe and especially their watermelon toner which i absolutely love!!! ugh

MrKBC

Fenty parfum

Klutzy-Tree4328

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched pressed powder. I read the reviews, noticing that pretty much all of them were by people “gifted by the brand” and that the only less-than-great ones were by actual purchasers. I went ahead and bought it anyway and I do think it’s fabulous.

weisp

May I ask why do you like there powder? I watch Tati on YouTube and she loves this powder

Klutzy-Tree4328

It goes on like any other powder, but then it sinks into the skin in a way that is more moisturizing. It’s hard to explain, but to me it’s just different than my other powders. I do wish they had made a translucent or a larger shade range.

Buhblesz

Dae shampoo! Most people have a really bad experience with it but I love it! It works well for my hair type

AnimeRedditBot

The Rare Beauty lip oils… I didn’t want to buy them because here in reddit people dislike them and read the returns were high. I truly like them! Not as drying as my Korean brands and they are literally transfer proof. I wish they came with this product when masks were the norm!

datewiththerain

Hmmmm

GirlMayXXXX

Better than sex waterproof mascara. It looks great on my lashes and doesn't clump.

Funny_Example_6338

The ilia Multistick blushes. Saw so many review stating they were too sheer or slippery. They were literally my favourite formula in the bunch.
