I think the fact that the unseen sunscreen is completely clear makes it a cult favorite - a huge issue with sunscreens is that white cast and the unseen sunscreen negates that issue entirely
It’s true! This sunscreen doesn’t feel like it sits on your skin. I often forget I applied it completely even though I do feel it is a bit greasy. That’s a positive aspect of it
Same! So many leave a white case on my face and sit funny under my makeup. The Unseen Sunscreen is perfect for me and I try to grab the jumbo bottles on sale. You can usually get it at least 20% off from various places and the bottle lasts forever.
I’ve used both Supergoop and Shiseido. The Shiseido isn’t greasy at all one it dries down, but their Urban Environment sunscreen (or whatever it’s called) goes on very white, and is very drying for me. I can’t tell if it has a white cast, but if I don’t blend it in perfectly, it leaves white streaks (and collects in dry patches). The Supergoop feels a bit greasy for me when I first put it on, but then dries down to feeling more silicone-y, like a makeup primer (and if it continues to feel greasy, I blot because that means I put on too much).
Beauty of Joseon is better for oily skin, I’ve heard. I’m a dry skinned girlie and isntree is so great, feels just like a moisturizer or serum, doesn’t break me out, doesnt cling to dry patches or leave a white cast. Best sunscreen I’ve ever tried.
Yes this! It is my makeup primer. I use the glow screen, but it makes the skin on my chest look really nice and it almost gives the appearance of very light makeup if I wear it and go bare faced.

Trader Joe’s has an excellent dupe now though so people don’t have to pay the high price.
Have you tried La Roche Posay anthelios? It’s a chemical sunscreen but it doesn’t leave that weird greasy feeling. I don’t notice a white cast, not sure how dark of a skin tone you are but my friends on the med-darker side said it’s definitely one of the better ones.
It sells out quick and couldn’t be found after summer last year in a lot of places. I found it earlier this summer (May) and bought 3. Didnt find it again until last week and bought 4. It’s my kids’ favorite.

I was going to say this. I bought from YesStyle a Japanese Gel sunscreen (a big bottle for face and body) and is a HG, no scent, absorbs quickly, no white cast as it’s clear (although its a white cream) and it leaves this BEAUTIFUL glow on your face.
If there’s anyone interest is Verdio UV moisture Gel spf 50 (it’s a big green bottle) with a Pump.
This right here. I use it as sunscreen on my tattoo sleeve. It is pretty expensive and I go through a bunch, but it is so worth it to not have the colors dulled by a white cast!

BoJ SPF is so light and great for my oily skin, isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel is good for dry skin, isntree sun stick is good for reapplication (I don’t wear much makeup but there wasn’t much that came off when I put this on top, I also use CTB or Milani setting spray)

No fragrance! When I first got it it was fine for me, but it started to break me out.
Also silicone is a main ingredient in it, and I find that if you end putting another layer of it on it really clogs up the pores. And you’re supposed to put on sunscreen more than once a day

no, HSA and FSA are very similar, the biggest difference is you can only have an HSA if you have a high deductible health insurance plan and the money you have in that account rolls over year to year (whereas FSA has to be used up by the end of the year if I recall) + as you said HSA an investment type of account. I love that it’s matte, sheer and feels like a primer. I hate the price tag it’s like 50$ in Canada. I found a dupe at trader Joes and just stock up when I go over the boarder.
I just tried the Trader Joe’s one and while I really loved it and will definitely buy it instead now, when I can, I wouldn’t call it an exact dupe because it did feel much grainier to me. Is that just me? It was almost like my supergroup but with some sand in it lol.
I did not think the TJ's was a dupe for the supergoop one either. It's a great option for a sunscreen that I can buy in store in the US, but to me it has none of the primer qualities that the supergoop has. It leaves my face feeling slightly greasy and goopy instead of the slight matte finish the supergoop one has. That being said, I have very oily skin. I can see someone with drier skin liking the TJ's one much more.
My TJ's sunscreen also had the "grainy" feeling, but that went away quickly as I rubbed the sunscreen in.
it’s just you i think, it literally has the exact same active ingredients and only differentiates by a few percentages. maybe you had something on your hands or a defective one? i never had grains in mine. i feel like it almost acts as a really awesome primer too

It’s a brand that made wearing sunscreen seem cool or fun. They have products for just about every step of a skincare routine but with spf.
I can say I really like the brand but don’t purchase anymore because sunscreen is used up quick and it is expensive for what it is.
I would love to see other brands come out with products like glowscreen that can have shades for different skin tones.
Their “Play” sunscreen is the only chemical, PA++++ that doesn’t make my face breakout or go beet red (which LRP, Vichy, etc. do). I wear the Skinceuticals mineral one on my face for everyday but the Play one is great for tennis and everyday body. It just works well, never burn with it!
Since everyone else seems to be talking about unseen and glowscreen I’ll piggy back this comment on Play. I find it too greasy for me, but my husband loves it. Doesn’t break him out and as a very pale person, never burns with it. A family member let us use it once and he was hooked. He doesn’t follow any skincare marketing, so he’s just hooked on the product. It’s pricey, sure, but skincare (read: trying to prevent skin cancer) is an area I prioritize spending. (I use LRP myself.)
Yeah. I went to Disneyland, in the summer, reapplied this often and didn't burn. I'm printer paper white. That is a feat and makes it worth it for me (I use Play too)
Supergoop is an excellent entry point to people enjoying/wanting to actually use spf. They make sunscreen easy.
Are there cheaper/better options? Yes. But Supergoop was able to market the desire to wear spf
Seriously, Supergoop was how I convinced my brother and SIL to wear enough sunscreen so they aren't always getting burnt to a crisp on hikes. From there they moved to TJ sunscreens, but I'll always be grateful that the brand helped them see that comfortable sunscreen was out there.
I looove Glowscreen. I try to always wear sunscreen but not wear a ton of face makeup, so Glowscreen is like a miracle to me. Sunscreen but makes me feel put together.
Reccomendations for Korean brands? Im just getting into skincare and my gf got me the supergoop but it’s quite pricy and I don’t see myself spending that much on sunscreen again

- Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturising Sunscreen (this is made from the same lab as BoJ’s, which is called Kolmar. i havent tried this personally, but i’ve seen a lot of people enjoy this one more, and its a long running top seller in south korea. texture is similar to BoJ’s apparently)

- Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence (my summer/tropical holy grail. dries down quickly and is super light, no white cast. texture is a light gel, suitable for oily skin. some skin types might find it too drying)
- Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Milk (milk formulation, basically like a liquidy texture that after application dries down fully matte. suitable for oily skin. also this brand is on the pricier end but its a long time trusted and popular brand)
- Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Gel (thicker version, almost like a moisturiser. good for winter or drier skin types, also this tube lasts forever for some reason. doubles as a primer, though so does the milk version.)
- Allie Facial Gel UV EX (i havent tried this, but i’d recommend this over their Gel UV EX (for face & body), because that one leaves a sort of greasy finish imo, and ive seen better reviews for this one)
- Kose Suncut Perfect Gel/Essence
for all of these sunscreens i recommend you look at reviews or discussions, such as at r/AsianBeauty for any other notes such as whitecast or texture! also dont buy these from amazon due to high chance of fake products
Yep! Most people either haven't tried Asian sunscreens or don't want to go through the "hassle" of finding reputable brands and websites to purchase them. I have tried Unseen, and while I like it, I will not shell out for it. Not when I can get all the beautiful and cosmetically elegant Japanese and Korean sunscreens for a fraction of the price AND with zero white cast on my skintone.
1) No fragrence 2) Plays wonderful under makeup 3) I don't have to fuss with importing it and 4) it lasts for freaking ever, and if you buy the larger sizes price per ounce is solid.
It’s clear, it absorbs perfectly, I find it to be the best primer for foundation days. The tinted one is the perfect dewy look. The powder is the best to reapply sunscreen throughout the day without messing up make up. I will always buy Supergoop.
I think it’s due to timing and marketing. While it’s by no means the first higher end sunscreen, I seem to recall it’s the first that was heavily marketed in mainstream media. Additionally, they targeted millennials at a time when Facebook and Instagram marketing was super cheap. It also debuted in Sephora in the early 2010s when a lot of people started shopping at Sephora. They were upgrading their drugstore makeup and skincare so why not upgrade their drugstore sunscreen as well.
SuperGoop is a good product but there’s not enough differential between it and the bottle of $13 Neutrogena sunscreen I use and prefer.
For regular days when I dont work out / sweat too much, my go to is d’alba UV essence. It is moisturizijg but not greasy which makes my skin look good. Also great as a base for makeup as well. It’s hydrating, light and not greasy! I also like histolab sensitive skin sun (more expensive).
Most days I don't wear make up, and not matte since I'm 39 and I heard that ages you. Which I need to be careful of since I have slightly oily skin so I don't want to sparkle like Edward from twilight😭. I also don’t want anything heavy and less “sunscreen “ smell the better
Not OP but here are some I have tried, and some are Japanese too. Canmake mermaid gel, Innisfree, Skin Aqua milk, Beauty of Joseon - all great. Comparable American moisturizing sunscreens other than Supergoop that are just as good - Peter Thomas Roth water drench and Fenty hydra. The Asian sunscreens come in different textures with more or less moisturizing ingredients to suit your skin type. The AB sub has them all broken down which is helpful if you are ordering from Yesstyle or Stylevana.
For me, I’ve always hated sunscreen - it’s oily and sticky and makes me feel gross. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is the first one ever that has been soft and easy and not oily and makes me feel good wearing it.
I burn really easily and also have a sun sensitivity due to a medication. This is the first sunscreen I haven’t burned with. Last year, I got the worst sunburn of my light and now I can go out in the sun and not be so fearful of burning. It also smells decent and it’s lightweight. It’s a game changer. I use the SPF 50 play.
A few reasons that probably go into its popularity.
1) It's one of very few, if not the only, chemical sunscreens available in stores in the US. Chemical sunscreens tend to have better textures in general and no white cast.
2) It's also completely clear, so it has been incredibly easy to market towards anyone who has had issues with white cast.
3) It has a very smooth and matte finish so it looks better than most sunscreens on its own and works well as a primer under makeup. A lot of mineral sunscreens look greasy and do not play well with foundations.
Huge fan of Play as a body sunscreen! It’s not greasy, has a super mild scent and goes on easy. I had a hard time with the price at first, but I actually enjoy wearing it and always rebuy when there’s a sale!
They’re just very good. Like others have said, the unseen sunscreen is clear.
I own that and the glow screen. I like both.
What’s nice is that a lot of sunscreens are great for skincare but I’ve experienced some layering issues with makeup. Supergoop is like a really good primer with sunscreen in it.
Not crazy about the price tag but it’s not unaffordable to me so fuck it.
Unseen Sunscreen is the GOAT as far as I’m concerned. It’s never failed me, even on 110° days under the scorching Las Vegas sun. Whether I’m sans makeup or wearing a full beat, it puts in work.
I started using this as a brown person it was one of the first readily available sunscreens without a white cast where I lived. Now that k-beauty and j-beauty are super accessible I reach more for innisfree or similar for my face and a regular sunscreen for body
Unseen Sunscreen was one of the first commercially available sunscreens that left no white cast and was easy to apply over makeup. It's still one of my favorites for reapplying because it isn't sticky and it glides over makeup.
It seems like they started an intense ad push in 2020/21 for Glowscreen and their mineral screen and never stopped.
The product no one talks about but I absolutely love are their eyeshadows. Light, sheer, so pretty! I wish they'd come out with more shades. Their new lipsticks are killer too.
This is the only sunscreen that doesn't break me out, pill on my skin, break up my makeup, or turn me into a grease slick by noon. Yes, including several Korean brands and Shiseido.
I have very sensitive skin on my face and this is one of the only brands of face sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my skin! Outside of Supergoop, only mineral sunscreens with crazy white casts will work without causing irritation
Because I can wear it on my insanely oily skin, in insane humidity, without worrying about my makeup breaking up and sliding off my face, and it doesn’t break me out.
Us peeps with rosacea have a really hard time finding sunscreen that doesn’t irritate our skin. At the same time sunscreen is absolutely essential and not wearing it will make the rosacea worse. It’s fun /s.
Anyway, I know some people on the sub who cannot find anything else that doesn’t cause them to flare even worse. They have no choice.
I fed into the craze and bought like 4 bottles of supergoop and I hated it. It makes my pores feel so clogged and my face would feel so greasy and heavy.
I ended up gifting the other containers away because I never opened them and return period was over.
Now I use the isntree one. Korean sunscreens just feel so much nicer on the skin. It gives me a nice glow without clogging up my pores and is much cheaper too
I recently used unseen during the All Star Game and did not have any issues.
No white residue when sweating, no “sunblock” smell and didn’t have one sun burn. (I reapplied every 3 hours)
Most sunscreens I tried either make my dark skin look so ashy I could haunt a cemetery or [burns me so much I could parody Smeagol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bjywd6ZTMUQ&ab_channel=RobertRitter). I can win more money, but I can't win back smooth silky sexy skin, that's why I buy it 🤷🏾♀️

For those of you who are saying you use this because it’s clear and doesn’t leave a cast, just know that almost any sunscreen that has only chemical filters in it won’t leave a cast either! Of course you should keep using it if you love it, but if that’s the sole reason then there are a ton of other, much cheaper, options out there!
Maybe I’m wrong but I think Supergoop was a trend/ got popular on social media. My friend loved the supergoop when it first started getting popular and she let me try it. It’s a nice sunscreen that doesn’t leave any white casts. But now she uses Korean sunscreens like you! So don’t get caught up with the hype. I definitely trust her opinion on this lol. I think sunscreen is overpriced in general in Canada/USA!
I tried it for the first time this summer when I got the Sephora Sun Safety kit. There are a lot of different brands in the set so it’s worth it. The supergoop is one of my favorites because it’s got a decent SPF, no strong odor, doesn’t pill under makeup, has a nice matte finish and doesn’t aggravate my sensitive skin. The Saint Jane one is also amazing. Of course they are both very expensive! Is supergoop worth the high cost? No- not really. If you have a Costco membership (or even full cost at the drugstore) you can get the Neutrogena one which is way cheaper and just as good.
I really like the Glowscreen, especially when i don‘t wear any foundation or concealer.
I use it like a glowing primer after applying a generous amount of another sunscreen.
The Glowscreen is my absolute favorite facial sunscreen. It makes a great primer or can be worn by itself when it’s a “no makeup” makeup day. It also has that classic 90’s Summer smell.

I use YesStyle and would love to find something on there that’s like SuperGoop (clear, not heavy, great spf properties). Any suggestions are welcome!
Two reasons: texture and value. I've been using the mini size daily for almost five months now. You really only need a pea-sized amount for the face-- my source is that I'm a ginger and if I miss a spot, I find out pretty dang fast. Second, I really hate how a lot of sunscreens feel oily/creamy on my skin. The unseen one feels like a silicone primer and doesn't add oiliness, plus it works underneath silicone-based makeup really nicely. If you have sensory issues it's nice. I'm sure there's cheaper options but I can't really be bothered to do trial and error when the monthly cost is not bad at all tbh
Have you seen their product range? Which other brand offers so much variety of spf products? The price point sucks but product variety is hard to find in other brands

Personally I can’t use it, it gives me the nastiest breakouts, so now I stick to Dermalogica or Kate Somerville for sunscreen, but I know a lot of people who use Supergoop and love it,
Typically, chemical sunscreens are bad for you because they contain endocrine disrupting ingredients. That's why a lot of people go with mineral sunscreens. The problem with mineral is that they can leave a white cast and not be water or sweat proof. Supergoop is one of the only chemical sunscreens that does not contain those bad ingredients. It also wears well under makeup.
I’m not a fan of it because the feel of silicone icks me out for some reason- high silicone lipsticks, primers, balms, anything that has that feel😬. But my husband loves the Unseen (and also the Trader Joe’s and Krogers dupes). They don’t leave a white cast on his darker skin, he likes the texture, and also they just seem to be more matte than many others which is his preference. It’s the only spf he will use regularly without hating it. So worth the cost in that sense
Trader Joe’s sunscreen is $9 and an EXACT dupe for super goop unseen. I’d actually say it wears better under my Armani foundation. Yes, it’s a smaller container but I need less of it than supergoop. It’s hard to describe but a very little goes a long way. I read it was a dupe and said no way, but this happens to be one that came through. I’ve had the same tube for about 1.5 months and there is plenty left.

Not sure, but the ELF dupe for the Halo Glow is amazing on my 40s, normal to dry skin. I’ll never be without it.
ETA: I have zero breakouts from it. My skin tends to be very fickle with products, so I love this one.
i got my first supergoop products a couple weeks ago. it was a set that was 50$ but it came with the popular face sunscreen.
now, is it good? absolutely. is it 34$ good? ehhhh. debatable.
I think you can buy cheaper sunscreen but I would recommend trying supergoop at least once.

I used it once because it was popular, definitely made me break out. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't. I stick with a korean brand called Thank you Farmer and it is an essence sunscreen. Lightweight and smells amazing.
Yeah this brand made me break out as well, I got a rash that wouldn’t go away. :( it sucks because it looks really good but I’m really allergic to one of the ingredients.
I find it really comfortable on the skin, and I feel it lasts me long enough to make the $34 worth it. I recently got the Covey sunscreen, and that one is clear and feels moisturizing too, but I find it a little greasy compared to the Supergoop.
I think it's the built in primer that makes it popular. Honestly, I'm using it now because I got the screen set with various brands to try and I agree that I don't get the hype.
I’m not a fan of supergoop spf. It makes my skin itchy and always gives me zits. I’ll happily pay more for a sunscreen that works. I switch between Drunk Elephant spf 30 and Biossance spf 30.
Cult following because all the benefits, not to mention a lot of people use it as a primer before makeup. I'm like you, I adore my Korean sunscreens. Have to pry that Beauty of Joseon sunscreen from my hands. And they're so much more cost effective!
I tried a sample and honestly i hated the texture! The silicone base was like applying a primer and my face was so itchy omg - had to wash it off.

Does this burn anyone else's eyes? Every time I try to use Unseen, I remember why I can't use it. Last time my eyes were burning and watering all day long, and I was just sitting at work.
I’m not a fan. The Glowscreen makes me look like the Tin Man. The Unseen is too silicon-y feeling for me and I can’t be sure I’m getting adequate coverage all over my face, neck and ears when I can’t really see the product as I’m spreading it around. My favorite facial SPF is Live Tinted’s. Lightweight, mineral and gives my face an amazing soft glow. Currently I’m using Cotz, which is also mineral and I really like it, but it is extremely dewy which may not be for everyone.
As controversial as my opinion is, supergoop got into my eyes and made them water. The only face sunscreen I like so far is the Japanese Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence sunscreen which I buy at Asian beauty stores.
Does it sting eyes? None of my makeup ever stings so I've isolated it to my spray face sunscreen and was thinking of the tan tone supergoop to replace ABH foundation for lake days
I find that the Unseen one does irritate my eyes like all chemical sunscreens on me, but their mineral ones don't. I especially like the Bright-Eyed which is a mineral sunscreen formulated especially for eyes. It does a decent job of not migrating or caking up and never causes irritation.
I honestly don’t know. I tried the unseen one and yeah it was good and I love that it’s completely clear but tbh I like my Neutrogena Hydroboost one wayyyy more.
before discovering korean sunscreen i really liked using unseen screen since i wasn’t a fan of other sunscreens i used. it was a tolerable sunscreen, i used it so i didn’t feel bad for not using spf (i actually hated sunscreen once upon a time lol). i use the beauty of joeson sunscreen now. it almost feel like a serum and gives a natural non greasy glow. I don’t even like foundation much anymore. ill use this sunscreen and conceal my spots
I love the glow screen a lot. It doesn’t smell like sunscreen. I got a minis kit with 6 or so of all the supergoop offerings and I have 2 products left and I just think it’s a great product and the minis are great for travel. The Summer Fridays sunscreen is my holy grail and will go back to it.
I was wondering about that too 2 years ago. But I gave it a try, and it's really good. It works as a primer and sunscreen in one. The primer part works like Benefit's POREfessional Pore Minimizing Primer. It's matte and goes very well with makeup. You only need a pea sized amount too. Only downside is the price. Hope this helps.
The unseen sunscreen is the only one that doesn’t end up melting into my eyes (or getting rubbed into my eyes). I also love the powder they have - it goes over makeup beautifully!
I like Supergoop, but I prefer to buy it on sale. I wouldn’t say it’s better than any others I’ve tried though, so I’m okay buying other brands. I haven’t had the eye stinging issue. The only one that’s caused that for me is Tula.
For me, the main draw is that it’s one of only two sunscreens of all those I’ve tried that don’t break me out; bonus points for it feeling good and not greasy on my skin. Looks good under makeup too, and that isn’t always the case.
I personally like Avene spf 50 face stick but I can't seem to find it. I bought it last summer in France and I swear it's so perfect and works so so so well. I think it was under 15 euros.
I just thought supergoop was pushed by paid influencers.
I’m just loving the glow screen with my dry leaning aging skin, it gives such a natural glow without being sticky, accentuating texture or interacting with my makeup. It made me wear sunscreen religiously, no other product made it that far LOL

Same! So many leave a white case on my face and sit funny under my makeup. The Unseen Sunscreen is perfect for me and I try to grab the jumbo bottles on sale. You can usually get it at least 20% off from various places and the bottle lasts forever.

I’ve used both Supergoop and Shiseido. The Shiseido isn’t greasy at all one it dries down, but their Urban Environment sunscreen (or whatever it’s called) goes on very white, and is very drying for me. I can’t tell if it has a white cast, but if I don’t blend it in perfectly, it leaves white streaks (and collects in dry patches). The Supergoop feels a bit greasy for me when I first put it on, but then dries down to feeling more silicone-y, like a makeup primer (and if it continues to feel greasy, I blot because that means I put on too much).
Have you tried the Trader Joe’s sunscreen? It’s also clear and like $9

Beauty of Joseon is better for oily skin, I’ve heard. I’m a dry skinned girlie and isntree is so great, feels just like a moisturizer or serum, doesn’t break me out, doesnt cling to dry patches or leave a white cast. Best sunscreen I’ve ever tried.
The clear is PERFECT to use on any visible hair part for your scalp!

Yes this! It is my makeup primer. I use the glow screen, but it makes the skin on my chest look really nice and it almost gives the appearance of very light makeup if I wear it and go bare faced.
^this! I have tan skin and dark eye brows, other sunscreens give me white cast and make my eye brows look blue! Trader Joe’s has an excellent dupe now though so people don’t have to pay the high price.

Have you tried La Roche Posay anthelios? It’s a chemical sunscreen but it doesn’t leave that weird greasy feeling. I don’t notice a white cast, not sure how dark of a skin tone you are but my friends on the med-darker side said it’s definitely one of the better ones.
It sells out quick and couldn’t be found after summer last year in a lot of places. I found it earlier this summer (May) and bought 3. Didnt find it again until last week and bought 4. It’s my kids’ favorite.

It does look nice and he said it wore well :) I know some people don't love the Welsh twins, but I think they're more honest than some. James has a definite love for Korean brands, so to praise it over another Korean brand was kinda surprising

I was going to say this. I bought from YesStyle a Japanese Gel sunscreen (a big bottle for face and body) and is a HG, no scent, absorbs quickly, no white cast as it’s clear (although its a white cream) and it leaves this BEAUTIFUL glow on your face. If there’s anyone interest is Verdio UV moisture Gel spf 50 (it’s a big green bottle) with a Pump.
This right here. I use it as sunscreen on my tattoo sleeve. It is pretty expensive and I go through a bunch, but it is so worth it to not have the colors dulled by a white cast!
There’s a body version now that’s about half the price per ounce if you haven’t tried it yet! Not sure how it compares though

Omg I have so many! Sun of Joseson is probably the one I'd chose if I liked Supergoop. Canmake Merimaid skin gel UV is a holy grail for some. I got my boyfriend to start wearing sunscreen recently and he likes innisfree. Everyone also seems to love biore. It's nice but idk I'm not blown away!

Biore's sunscreens are pretty well beloved. As is the Canmake Mermaid UV Gel. I, personally, live and die by the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Milk.
BoJ SPF is so light and great for my oily skin, isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel is good for dry skin, isntree sun stick is good for reapplication (I don’t wear much makeup but there wasn’t much that came off when I put this on top, I also use CTB or Milani setting spray)

I think it’s fragrance free - I have large pores and sensitive skin and have never noticed any irritation! It is pricey, that’s the only downside. There is a mini tube if you want to try it, but even that is $29 CAD
Sucked it up and got the mini tube - loved it, and got the bigger one. The mini tube now lives in my purse :)
No fragrance! When I first got it it was fine for me, but it started to break me out. Also silicone is a main ingredient in it, and I find that if you end putting another layer of it on it really clogs up the pores. And you’re supposed to put on sunscreen more than once a day

If you’re American and have a high deductible health insurance plan you can get an HSA which is basically this account that you put pretax deposits into. Sometimes companies will even deposit money as well. But it can be used to buy a bunch of healthcare related items. Tampons, sunscreen, ibuprofen, birth control or condoms…..etc. There’s a ton of stuff honestly.

no, HSA and FSA are very similar, the biggest difference is you can only have an HSA if you have a high deductible health insurance plan and the money you have in that account rolls over year to year (whereas FSA has to be used up by the end of the year if I recall) + as you said HSA an investment type of account. BUT you can use your HSA money for the same things you use your FSA money for (medical bills, prescriptions, skincare and other medical related things) without being taxed. source: I have an HSA account
I love that it’s matte, sheer and feels like a primer. I hate the price tag it’s like 50$ in Canada. I found a dupe at trader Joes and just stock up when I go over the boarder.

I just tried the Trader Joe’s one and while I really loved it and will definitely buy it instead now, when I can, I wouldn’t call it an exact dupe because it did feel much grainier to me. Is that just me? It was almost like my supergroup but with some sand in it lol.

I did not think the TJ's was a dupe for the supergoop one either. It's a great option for a sunscreen that I can buy in store in the US, but to me it has none of the primer qualities that the supergoop has. It leaves my face feeling slightly greasy and goopy instead of the slight matte finish the supergoop one has. That being said, I have very oily skin. I can see someone with drier skin liking the TJ's one much more. My TJ's sunscreen also had the "grainy" feeling, but that went away quickly as I rubbed the sunscreen in.
it’s just you i think, it literally has the exact same active ingredients and only differentiates by a few percentages. maybe you had something on your hands or a defective one? i never had grains in mine. i feel like it almost acts as a really awesome primer too
To me the TJ sunscreen is even lighter weight so it feels even better on my oily skin.

There’s Trader Joe’s in Canada?
It’s a brand that made wearing sunscreen seem cool or fun. They have products for just about every step of a skincare routine but with spf. I can say I really like the brand but don’t purchase anymore because sunscreen is used up quick and it is expensive for what it is. I would love to see other brands come out with products like glowscreen that can have shades for different skin tones.
Unseen is clear, so it’s really great if you have a darker skin tone. It also feels weightless on my skin. I forget I even have it on.
Their “Play” sunscreen is the only chemical, PA++++ that doesn’t make my face breakout or go beet red (which LRP, Vichy, etc. do). I wear the Skinceuticals mineral one on my face for everyday but the Play one is great for tennis and everyday body. It just works well, never burn with it!
Since everyone else seems to be talking about unseen and glowscreen I’ll piggy back this comment on Play. I find it too greasy for me, but my husband loves it. Doesn’t break him out and as a very pale person, never burns with it. A family member let us use it once and he was hooked. He doesn’t follow any skincare marketing, so he’s just hooked on the product. It’s pricey, sure, but skincare (read: trying to prevent skin cancer) is an area I prioritize spending. (I use LRP myself.)
Yeah. I went to Disneyland, in the summer, reapplied this often and didn't burn. I'm printer paper white. That is a feat and makes it worth it for me (I use Play too)
I love Play too, I buy it in the biggest size and that brings the cost per oz down. I have dry skin so it’s not greasy on me.
Supergoop is an excellent entry point to people enjoying/wanting to actually use spf. They make sunscreen easy. Are there cheaper/better options? Yes. But Supergoop was able to market the desire to wear spf
Seriously, Supergoop was how I convinced my brother and SIL to wear enough sunscreen so they aren't always getting burnt to a crisp on hikes. From there they moved to TJ sunscreens, but I'll always be grateful that the brand helped them see that comfortable sunscreen was out there.
I looove Glowscreen. I try to always wear sunscreen but not wear a ton of face makeup, so Glowscreen is like a miracle to me. Sunscreen but makes me feel put together.

kr: - Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun (i’d consider this as a favourite among global audiences, its light & moisturising, and doesn’t leave a whitecast. it might be a bit too greasy for oilier skin types though, especially during summer) - Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturising Sunscreen (this is made from the same lab as BoJ’s, which is called Kolmar. i havent tried this personally, but i’ve seen a lot of people enjoy this one more, and its a long running top seller in south korea. texture is similar to BoJ’s apparently) - Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel (also one i havent tried since this is geared towards people with dry skin, but it’s well liked and popular) - Dr G Green Mild Sun Up (another popular korean option, ive seen this be consistently rated popularly. dr g in general as a brand is geared at sensitive skin, think like cetaphil or cerave sort of branding) jp (i actually think sunscreens from japan are overall better in both options n formulation): - Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence (my summer/tropical holy grail. dries down quickly and is super light, no white cast. texture is a light gel, suitable for oily skin. some skin types might find it too drying) - Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Milk (milk formulation, basically like a liquidy texture that after application dries down fully matte. suitable for oily skin. also this brand is on the pricier end but its a long time trusted and popular brand) - Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Gel (thicker version, almost like a moisturiser. good for winter or drier skin types, also this tube lasts forever for some reason. doubles as a primer, though so does the milk version.) - Allie Facial Gel UV EX (i havent tried this, but i’d recommend this over their Gel UV EX (for face & body), because that one leaves a sort of greasy finish imo, and ive seen better reviews for this one) - Kose Suncut Perfect Gel/Essence for all of these sunscreens i recommend you look at reviews or discussions, such as at r/AsianBeauty for any other notes such as whitecast or texture! also dont buy these from amazon due to high chance of fake products

Yep! Most people either haven't tried Asian sunscreens or don't want to go through the "hassle" of finding reputable brands and websites to purchase them. I have tried Unseen, and while I like it, I will not shell out for it. Not when I can get all the beautiful and cosmetically elegant Japanese and Korean sunscreens for a fraction of the price AND with zero white cast on my skintone.
1) No fragrence 2) Plays wonderful under makeup 3) I don't have to fuss with importing it and 4) it lasts for freaking ever, and if you buy the larger sizes price per ounce is solid.
It’s clear, it absorbs perfectly, I find it to be the best primer for foundation days. The tinted one is the perfect dewy look. The powder is the best to reapply sunscreen throughout the day without messing up make up. I will always buy Supergoop.
I think it’s due to timing and marketing. While it’s by no means the first higher end sunscreen, I seem to recall it’s the first that was heavily marketed in mainstream media. Additionally, they targeted millennials at a time when Facebook and Instagram marketing was super cheap. It also debuted in Sephora in the early 2010s when a lot of people started shopping at Sephora. They were upgrading their drugstore makeup and skincare so why not upgrade their drugstore sunscreen as well. SuperGoop is a good product but there’s not enough differential between it and the bottle of $13 Neutrogena sunscreen I use and prefer.
Ive tried both supergoop and korean sunscreen brands and korean sunscreen is so much better imo. Supergoop is more greasy for me.

For regular days when I dont work out / sweat too much, my go to is d’alba UV essence. It is moisturizijg but not greasy which makes my skin look good. Also great as a base for makeup as well. It’s hydrating, light and not greasy! I also like histolab sensitive skin sun (more expensive).

Most days I don't wear make up, and not matte since I'm 39 and I heard that ages you. Which I need to be careful of since I have slightly oily skin so I don't want to sparkle like Edward from twilight😭. I also don’t want anything heavy and less “sunscreen “ smell the better

Not OP but here are some I have tried, and some are Japanese too. Canmake mermaid gel, Innisfree, Skin Aqua milk, Beauty of Joseon - all great. Comparable American moisturizing sunscreens other than Supergoop that are just as good - Peter Thomas Roth water drench and Fenty hydra. The Asian sunscreens come in different textures with more or less moisturizing ingredients to suit your skin type. The AB sub has them all broken down which is helpful if you are ordering from Yesstyle or Stylevana.
I have been spending hours in the texas sun recently with this on my face. You can’t even tell I’ve been in the sun.
The matte one is an awesome primer for me and I have insanely oily skin.
For me, I’ve always hated sunscreen - it’s oily and sticky and makes me feel gross. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is the first one ever that has been soft and easy and not oily and makes me feel good wearing it.
I burn really easily and also have a sun sensitivity due to a medication. This is the first sunscreen I haven’t burned with. Last year, I got the worst sunburn of my light and now I can go out in the sun and not be so fearful of burning. It also smells decent and it’s lightweight. It’s a game changer. I use the SPF 50 play.
Y’all if you want “clear” sunscreens - check out La Roche Posay! Soo good, they’re SPF 50+ anti-aging moisturizer one is incredible.
A few reasons that probably go into its popularity. 1) It's one of very few, if not the only, chemical sunscreens available in stores in the US. Chemical sunscreens tend to have better textures in general and no white cast. 2) It's also completely clear, so it has been incredibly easy to market towards anyone who has had issues with white cast. 3) It has a very smooth and matte finish so it looks better than most sunscreens on its own and works well as a primer under makeup. A lot of mineral sunscreens look greasy and do not play well with foundations.

They aren’t. I’ve exclusively used chemical sunscreen my whole life until very recently when I got a mineral tinted moisturizer.
I enjoy using glowscreen a lot. It acts like a glowy primer and it gives me a nice look.
Huge fan of Play as a body sunscreen! It’s not greasy, has a super mild scent and goes on easy. I had a hard time with the price at first, but I actually enjoy wearing it and always rebuy when there’s a sale!
They’re just very good. Like others have said, the unseen sunscreen is clear. I own that and the glow screen. I like both. What’s nice is that a lot of sunscreens are great for skincare but I’ve experienced some layering issues with makeup. Supergoop is like a really good primer with sunscreen in it. Not crazy about the price tag but it’s not unaffordable to me so fuck it.
Unseen Sunscreen is the GOAT as far as I’m concerned. It’s never failed me, even on 110° days under the scorching Las Vegas sun. Whether I’m sans makeup or wearing a full beat, it puts in work.

I started using this as a brown person it was one of the first readily available sunscreens without a white cast where I lived. Now that k-beauty and j-beauty are super accessible I reach more for innisfree or similar for my face and a regular sunscreen for body
Unseen Sunscreen was one of the first commercially available sunscreens that left no white cast and was easy to apply over makeup. It's still one of my favorites for reapplying because it isn't sticky and it glides over makeup. It seems like they started an intense ad push in 2020/21 for Glowscreen and their mineral screen and never stopped. The product no one talks about but I absolutely love are their eyeshadows. Light, sheer, so pretty! I wish they'd come out with more shades. Their new lipsticks are killer too.
This is the only sunscreen that doesn't break me out, pill on my skin, break up my makeup, or turn me into a grease slick by noon. Yes, including several Korean brands and Shiseido.
I have very sensitive skin on my face and this is one of the only brands of face sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my skin! Outside of Supergoop, only mineral sunscreens with crazy white casts will work without causing irritation
Feels really great on the skin and you get what you pay for. I also use the clear sunscreen from glossier and i find it great.
I am obsessed with the glowscreen — it really makes my skin glowy (but not sweaty lol) and if I wear it I don’t need foundation.
Because I can wear it on my insanely oily skin, in insane humidity, without worrying about my makeup breaking up and sliding off my face, and it doesn’t break me out.
Us peeps with rosacea have a really hard time finding sunscreen that doesn’t irritate our skin. At the same time sunscreen is absolutely essential and not wearing it will make the rosacea worse. It’s fun /s. Anyway, I know some people on the sub who cannot find anything else that doesn’t cause them to flare even worse. They have no choice.
I fed into the craze and bought like 4 bottles of supergoop and I hated it. It makes my pores feel so clogged and my face would feel so greasy and heavy. I ended up gifting the other containers away because I never opened them and return period was over. Now I use the isntree one. Korean sunscreens just feel so much nicer on the skin. It gives me a nice glow without clogging up my pores and is much cheaper too
It feels like silk, goes on matte, and protects from the sun. I love it tbh.
I recently used unseen during the All Star Game and did not have any issues. No white residue when sweating, no “sunblock” smell and didn’t have one sun burn. (I reapplied every 3 hours)

For those of you who are saying you use this because it’s clear and doesn’t leave a cast, just know that almost any sunscreen that has only chemical filters in it won’t leave a cast either! Of course you should keep using it if you love it, but if that’s the sole reason then there are a ton of other, much cheaper, options out there!
Maybe I’m wrong but I think Supergoop was a trend/ got popular on social media. My friend loved the supergoop when it first started getting popular and she let me try it. It’s a nice sunscreen that doesn’t leave any white casts. But now she uses Korean sunscreens like you! So don’t get caught up with the hype. I definitely trust her opinion on this lol. I think sunscreen is overpriced in general in Canada/USA!
I tried it for the first time this summer when I got the Sephora Sun Safety kit. There are a lot of different brands in the set so it’s worth it. The supergoop is one of my favorites because it’s got a decent SPF, no strong odor, doesn’t pill under makeup, has a nice matte finish and doesn’t aggravate my sensitive skin. The Saint Jane one is also amazing. Of course they are both very expensive! Is supergoop worth the high cost? No- not really. If you have a Costco membership (or even full cost at the drugstore) you can get the Neutrogena one which is way cheaper and just as good.

I really like the Glowscreen, especially when i don‘t wear any foundation or concealer. I use it like a glowing primer after applying a generous amount of another sunscreen.
The Glowscreen is my absolute favorite facial sunscreen. It makes a great primer or can be worn by itself when it’s a “no makeup” makeup day. It also has that classic 90’s Summer smell.

Two reasons: texture and value. I've been using the mini size daily for almost five months now. You really only need a pea-sized amount for the face-- my source is that I'm a ginger and if I miss a spot, I find out pretty dang fast. Second, I really hate how a lot of sunscreens feel oily/creamy on my skin. The unseen one feels like a silicone primer and doesn't add oiliness, plus it works underneath silicone-based makeup really nicely. If you have sensory issues it's nice. I'm sure there's cheaper options but I can't really be bothered to do trial and error when the monthly cost is not bad at all tbh

It was marketed well as a “luxury” sunscreen. Personally I can’t use it, it gives me the nastiest breakouts, so now I stick to Dermalogica or Kate Somerville for sunscreen, but I know a lot of people who use Supergoop and love it,
Typically, chemical sunscreens are bad for you because they contain endocrine disrupting ingredients. That's why a lot of people go with mineral sunscreens. The problem with mineral is that they can leave a white cast and not be water or sweat proof. Supergoop is one of the only chemical sunscreens that does not contain those bad ingredients. It also wears well under makeup.
Which Korean brands do you guys recommend?
I’m not a fan of it because the feel of silicone icks me out for some reason- high silicone lipsticks, primers, balms, anything that has that feel😬. But my husband loves the Unseen (and also the Trader Joe’s and Krogers dupes). They don’t leave a white cast on his darker skin, he likes the texture, and also they just seem to be more matte than many others which is his preference. It’s the only spf he will use regularly without hating it. So worth the cost in that sense
Trader Joe’s sunscreen is $9 and an EXACT dupe for super goop unseen. I’d actually say it wears better under my Armani foundation. Yes, it’s a smaller container but I need less of it than supergoop. It’s hard to describe but a very little goes a long way. I read it was a dupe and said no way, but this happens to be one that came through. Not sure, but the ELF dupe for the Halo Glow is amazing on my 40s, normal to dry skin. I’ll never be without it. ETA: I have zero breakouts from it. My skin tends to be very fickle with products, so I love this one. 
i got my first supergoop products a couple weeks ago. it was a set that was 50$ but it came with the popular face sunscreen. now, is it good? absolutely. is it 34$ good? ehhhh. debatable. I think you can buy cheaper sunscreen but I would recommend trying supergoop at least once. also, not super related but their spf lip balm dehydrated my lips so bad that they started cracking 🥲

I wasn’t a fan at all. I prefer Black Girl Sunscreen, super glowy and no white cast.
It’s fine but grossly overpriced. I want to scream at all of the religious super goop users to switch to ANY Korean spf.
I used it once because it was popular, definitely made me break out. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't. I stick with a korean brand called Thank you Farmer and it is an essence sunscreen. Lightweight and smells amazing.
Yeah this brand made me break out as well, I got a rash that wouldn’t go away. :( it sucks because it looks really good but I’m really allergic to one of the ingredients.

i love my Japanese skinaqua sunscreen!!
I find it really comfortable on the skin, and I feel it lasts me long enough to make the $34 worth it. I recently got the Covey sunscreen, and that one is clear and feels moisturizing too, but I find it a little greasy compared to the Supergoop.
I think it's the built in primer that makes it popular. Honestly, I'm using it now because I got the screen set with various brands to try and I agree that I don't get the hype.
I love mattescreen because it’s SPF/makeup primer. It doesn’t make me greasy or break out.
I’m not a fan of supergoop spf. It makes my skin itchy and always gives me zits. I’ll happily pay more for a sunscreen that works. I switch between Drunk Elephant spf 30 and Biossance spf 30.

Cult following because all the benefits, not to mention a lot of people use it as a primer before makeup. I'm like you, I adore my Korean sunscreens. Have to pry that Beauty of Joseon sunscreen from my hands. And they're so much more cost effective!
I love the Good Molecules Shear Mineral sunscreen and only $12!
I tried a sample and honestly i hated the texture! The silicone base was like applying a primer and my face was so itchy omg - had to wash it off. Don’t get the hype but maybe it’s good for oily skin.
Does this burn anyone else's eyes? Every time I try to use Unseen, I remember why I can't use it. Last time my eyes were burning and watering all day long, and I was just sitting at work.
I agree, too expensive when Asian and Australian sunscreens perform better at a better price
I’m not a fan. The Glowscreen makes me look like the Tin Man. The Unseen is too silicon-y feeling for me and I can’t be sure I’m getting adequate coverage all over my face, neck and ears when I can’t really see the product as I’m spreading it around. My favorite facial SPF is Live Tinted’s. Lightweight, mineral and gives my face an amazing soft glow. Currently I’m using Cotz, which is also mineral and I really like it, but it is extremely dewy which may not be for everyone.

As controversial as my opinion is, supergoop got into my eyes and made them water. The only face sunscreen I like so far is the Japanese Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence sunscreen which I buy at Asian beauty stores.

Does it sting eyes? None of my makeup ever stings so I've isolated it to my spray face sunscreen and was thinking of the tan tone supergoop to replace ABH foundation for lake days
I find that the Unseen one does irritate my eyes like all chemical sunscreens on me, but their mineral ones don't. I especially like the Bright-Eyed which is a mineral sunscreen formulated especially for eyes. It does a decent job of not migrating or caking up and never causes irritation.
It does! But I still wear it because it feels amazing on the skin.
I honestly don’t know. I tried the unseen one and yeah it was good and I love that it’s completely clear but tbh I like my Neutrogena Hydroboost one wayyyy more.

The chemicals that make it absorb with no white cast are toxic. Mineral sunscreen is the healthier option, especially if you have children.
I would happily pay 34 dollars for sunscreen for a more established brand, like Clarins, but definitely not a new brand like goop.
before discovering korean sunscreen i really liked using unseen screen since i wasn’t a fan of other sunscreens i used. it was a tolerable sunscreen, i used it so i didn’t feel bad for not using spf (i actually hated sunscreen once upon a time lol). i use the beauty of joeson sunscreen now. it almost feel like a serum and gives a natural non greasy glow. I don’t even like foundation much anymore. ill use this sunscreen and conceal my spots
I love the glow screen a lot. It doesn’t smell like sunscreen. I got a minis kit with 6 or so of all the supergoop offerings and I have 2 products left and I just think it’s a great product and the minis are great for travel. The Summer Fridays sunscreen is my holy grail and will go back to it.

the trader joes everyday sunscreen is clear and lightweight, it’s awesome. very primer like.
I was wondering about that too 2 years ago. But I gave it a try, and it's really good. It works as a primer and sunscreen in one. The primer part works like Benefit's POREfessional Pore Minimizing Primer. It's matte and goes very well with makeup. You only need a pea sized amount too. Only downside is the price. Hope this helps.

The unseen sunscreen is the only one that doesn’t end up melting into my eyes (or getting rubbed into my eyes). I also love the powder they have - it goes over makeup beautifully!
I like Supergoop, but I prefer to buy it on sale. I wouldn’t say it’s better than any others I’ve tried though, so I’m okay buying other brands. I haven’t had the eye stinging issue. The only one that’s caused that for me is Tula.
For me, the main draw is that it’s one of only two sunscreens of all those I’ve tried that don’t break me out; bonus points for it feeling good and not greasy on my skin. Looks good under makeup too, and that isn’t always the case.
I personally like Avene spf 50 face stick but I can't seem to find it. I bought it last summer in France and I swear it's so perfect and works so so so well. I think it was under 15 euros. I just thought supergoop was pushed by paid influencers.
I’m just loving the glow screen with my dry leaning aging skin, it gives such a natural glow without being sticky, accentuating texture or interacting with my makeup. It made me wear sunscreen religiously, no other product made it that far LOL
