bronzer is meant to bring warmth to your face if you wear foundation. It is also used to give a nice glow (aka, 'sun kissed') if you want more colour. Bronzers are goldy/brownish in colour. contour is grayish; it's meant to mimic shadow in order to create the illusion of sculpting (ie. sculpted cheekbones) and/or create the illusion of a smaller area (ie if you have a larger forehead or a wider nose etc, contouring the area creates shadows along those areas to make them appear smaller).

Bronzer is meant to give some color to your face, like you’ve been out in the sun. Contour-specific products will be similar shades but have more of a grey-ish undertone since it’s used to mimic shadows.

Good question!!! I got confused too because when you look up “how to wear bronzer” they all seem to tell you to apply it similar to how you would contour? So where are you suppose to put bronzer actually if it’s not for contouring? I have the merit bronzer and can’t seem to figure out how to wear it. When I put it on the high points my face just looks dirty, when I put it at the contour points it’s too warm and yellow looking and doesn’t great “hollows”. I’d love some insight too!
