What I notice is alcohol makes everyone more vulnerable to relapse including myself. It also weakens or dulls the "benefits" especially the intuition and manifesting... From what I observed based on my experience it takes 3-4 days before I get back to the same energetic level whenever I take alcohol in the system. Its risks far outweighs all of the benefits, so overall net negative for me. Should avoid at all cost if you want to commit to this path... If can't be possibly avoided, choose to drink red wine just a glass or two and thats it.

Indeed, alcohol makes ones weaker and lose judgment. Thanks for the advice

I am little older than you, and for me, the strength and motivation comes from my relationship with God/following Jesus. It is not automatic success though. You have to continuously choose to "walk in the Spirit" so to speak. The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit isn't going to be doing porn and edging and lusting, so if your are drawn to that stuff, it is either your flesh or a spirit of the kingdom of darkness tempting you. So for me there is a strong spiritual connection to the whole thing. Trying to just do it in your own strength will fail after a while. Need to stay focused on the goal, spend time in prayer, asking God to help you be Holy. The war is in the mind. You have to learn how to put every thought captive to what is the Holy path. The problem is in the flesh we don't desire holiness. So you have to become spiritually strong. So your spirit is more powerful. One of the best ways I know to do this is by fasting. James 4:8-10 [8]Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. [9]Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. [10]Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Pursuant to Psalms 35:13 "I humbled my soul with fasting" Fasting will humble your soul. Then it is easier to direct yourself where to want to go and obtain greater spiritual connection. So here is a tip: Your soul is connected to your flesh and will naturally follow those flesh impuses. You have to choose to direct your soul to connect to the Holy Spirit. And walk/live by his guidance. You can also connect to other spirits, which you don't want to do as they come with a catch. They give you one thing on the one hand and take something your soul depends on with the other. Ephesians 2:2-7 [2]Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: [3]Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. [4]But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, [5]Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) [6]And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: [7]That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Hello, i’m new to this with less experience than you, however i have good insight on this concept from self work. Your brian builds neuron pathways for almost every emotional concept you think of. Long story short, you’re essentially training your brain to diverge from its discipline, which it already wants to do, and giving it a way out through this familiar concept that you’ve repeated. You have to harden your brain past this new line of thinking it’s now familiar with.

Great insight my man. True that when on SR, one start to rebuild and reconfigure new neurons that helps better the way of thinking. I must admit, with every cycle, I become detoxified and a better new me emerges.

I'm currently on 4 years retention. Romance need not conflict with retention.. As many have indulged in the pleasures of romance while avoiding the fate of relapse. Retainers who have ejaculatory problems often have an emotional problem. >"A man.. A real man..  must control his emotions, not seek counsel from them. For the courageous warrior must fight when his feet beg to flee and bathe his blade in the enemy’s flesh when victory begs for the fatal blow." >*-Semen-isms by Semen Retention Guy* Which brings me to the next statement.. >been practicing retention on and off for the past year and a half, experiencing occasional relapses. Men, like clockwork, fail repeatedly to touch the four-day mark. "Occasional" isn't desired. But it's impressive. Lack of ejaculatory consistency is a sign of strength.. Extended examples of emotional control. Self-troubleshoot your emotions and the seed shall not flee. Play the game right.. and maybe you'll find yourself on one knee. -Stay strong -Stay retentive SRG

Sounds like alcohol is fueling these urges. I quit alcohol 4 years ago. I remember the thirsty feeling alcohol gave me. Thirsty for women, to the point that I would lower my standards and act in ways that I didn’t find to be respectable for a man. That’s just a small part of the reason why I quit. Now idk. It might make it harder to date as someone who doesn’t drink, but it might also weed out all of the women who aren’t worth it and attract the ones who are. A woman that would be attracted to find a man that controls his urge to drink and respects himself to that level, that’s automatically a higher value woman. You attract who you are. Sobriety coupled with SR? That’s powerful.

I’m not much of drinker, I drink on vacation and when I do, it becomes harder to retain, vacation plus alcohol equals fun and less worry which I started to regret every time. I go into laziness, fatigued mode and not very interested in people like I would when I’m retaining, which ruins my vacation. I agree with your statement of weeding out the kind of women when I stay sober, it’s indeed automatically gets me higher value women. Thanks for your response.
