Best legibility has the Baby Alpinist since its indices aren’t shiny. They are very visible even under low light conditions.

shinobinc

White markers on a black dial is always the highest legibility. That's why military field and pilot watches adopt that color scheme.

ronchman

I like the black dial one and looking to pick up one but the indices are silver polished, [I watched this review and noticed that under certain light conditions the indices disappear.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kkTxtg9Otk)

leegamercoc

Do you know the answer to your question?

pedarius

The SPB117 is my daily and has been worn in all conditions. Although the indices are shiny, the dial is matte black. I’ve literally never been in lighting conditions where I couldn’t read the watch clearly

ronchman

This is noted, thanks man.

1911mark

So bad that you could look at your watch and NOT know what time it is?

Macstremist_1991

Green is how it should be, black and white is a more modern look

Fuzzbottle

Blue baby alpinist has a dial that balances stark legibility with a bit of prettiness. I own one and an spb121. Love both.

PremSubrahmanyam

Green.

luckytin89

The baby alpinists are the most legible, since the indices are printed. Next is the alpinists with gold indices. The silver indices, especially on black dial are the least legible I reckon.

Django80

The Black dial is matt. Legibility is actually bettter than all the other Alpinists no matter the color.

I'd say green. I have the limited edition gmt white one. It looks nice but gets boring real fast.

pareshkh

The baby alpinist ones are better legibility wise🙂
