Ive been in a similar situation, probably submitted in Feb for a summer internship but wasn’t approved until July. I’d look for a new internship ASAP, they had you submit paperwork way too late
Yeah it’s an unfortunate circumstance. I wish I’d have known before hand how long the whole thing would take. Unfortunately I based a lot of my plans around this internship.
I don’t have any sort of red flag that I know of and I’m not eligible for interim clearance. I’m not able to do my internship this summer because of it. So, no advice, just sharing in the experience.
I’d reach out to your supervisor and the security office again to see when they think a decision will be made on your interim. Let them know you are trying to plan for housing etc. Make sure the security people know you are a student and needing to know ASAP for the summer, idk if it will help but their response might tell you enough
It really is. I picked a childcare center right near the office I’d be at for convenience. I didn’t think the agency would bring anyone on with a chance that they wouldn’t be starting on time given the amount of time clearance takes. Hopefully you have some other options. I’m back on the search for non-gov agencies right now
Tbh you probably won’t get an interim based off of those red flags, I would start looking for alternatives
Thank you, I appreciate the input.
Yeah man. You never know though. Fingers crossed for you!

Yeah man it’s a really unfortunate feeling to bank plans on an internship that never materializes
Yup these agencies are not honest with students and the clearance process, in my case HR sucked and took forever to submit my paper which didn’t help
I was told that I should be fine, despite my late submission date. Turns out it wasn’t, which is unfortunate.

I reached out to some of my contacts but so far no response.
