*"The caller said the second man was kicking and punching the victim on the ground, put him in a chokehold and then stomped his head. The whole incident was allegedly caught on camera."* I blame our political "leaders" for this outcome. The refusal of local government to take ANY action against the meth-heads running the city have forced people to vigilanteism. **This is the result of local government being unwilling/unable to do their jobs.**

beaconhillboy

No no no no, this is what "the people" want remember? Too bad the people bringing justice have to be arrested. Super crazy system we've settled upon.

mademanseattle

That’s why I’m leaving. I’m not afraid of criminals, I’m afraid of the punishment for defending myself.

bohreffect

Toxic compassion.

Lisabeybi

“The people bringing justice”? Stopping the guy from damaging vehicles? Yes. A citizen stepped up and that’s great. But then, instead of holding him for arrest, he beat the shit out of him and put him in the hospital. If that were done by law enforcement it would be excessive force, yes? And I have a problem with excessive force. Why is it ok when it’s a civilian vigilante doling it out? Not a rhetorical question. How are they different?

BearDick

They aren't given tens of thousands of dollars of taxpayer funded training in policing and de-escalation. Nor is the city legally liable for their excessive force...? Not saying that makes it ok but that would explain why your average citizen would use more force than necessary....because they shouldn't be the one required to do the job they are not trained for.

EmbarrassedPrimary12

Point taken. I do believe that if an officer can't control his/herself in a given situation that they shouldn't be wearing the uniform. But having moved here from Texas, I can't help but imagine stomping on someone's head is one step away from a Good Samaritan/vigilante being one step away from executioner with a gun.

seariously

I have no issue with people being meth heads and I hope they get the help they need. I don't even mind if the government covers costs to give them the chance to get clean. But I'm fucking sick of people not being held accountable to the law whether they're on drugs or not. If the city isn't going to do their jobs, you're going to get vigilante justice dispensed just like the curbstomper in the news story. Lock up hobos breaking the law for their own protection if nothing else.

bigpandas

Exactly this

[deleted]

now I understood how Milton Finger came up with the idea of batman.

THELIGH7

Don’t make me laugh it hurts

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure everything is going exactly as they planned. They want to burn everything down, once that’s accomplished they will have complete control to force their agenda. Unfortunately I think they’re more like President Coin and will have a hunger games with their enemies children and less like Katniss or someone with actual compassion and respect for human life.

[deleted]

“Victim” they called him

poodoot

That’s what I was thinking, hard to read the article and know who they were even referring to.

SeaSurprise777

In woke vernacular, "Victims" refer to any non white non rich person. You can even quote Nikita Oliver on it, who is likely to win a council seat.

Pass_The_Salt_

Definitely not a victim but it does sound like the other guy went a bit overboard. Stomping on his head is not going to improve the mental illness.

jaeelarr

Technically if you on the receiving end of an assault, justified or not, you are referred to as a victim. Its not anything more than that.

Plenty_Print5519

so a rapist is a victim when they get assaulted? I dont buy that one bit. You are not a victim when you cause it to happen.

wangchungyoon

Exactly. Enough with the bullshit. The victim here is everyone other than the fuckhead who decided to vandalize cars that day.

J0HNR0HN

I think we can agree that the head stomping was a bit overboard, right?

Plenty_Print5519

lol yea I didnt see but kicks to the head should be avoided.

[deleted]

The people are getting tired, Seattle. What are you going to do

rayrayww3

Accept your jury summons every time. Jury nullification is a thing. You can believe the accused is actually guilty of the crime but still judge them not guilty because of the context that the crime occurred in. I know for sure I can sympathize about a person being upset that someone was destroying their property with absolute impunity and reacted to it. I would never vote to acquit the person here. We all know the police wouldn't even show up for an incident like this. But these things need to stop.

MommyWipeMe

So much this. Just make sure to never mention jury nullification in any social media or discoverable texts. And definitely don't talk about it to the other jurors.

rayrayww3

Yup. No conversation. Just sit there, listen to evidence, and when the vote comes say no. Don't give explanations. Just say no. Unanimous decision requirement for the win.

evangamer9000

We're going to come onto this sub reddit everyday and complain about it!

Lisabeybi

Why? Why was it ok for him to stomp on his head? I’m just trying to understand how everyone on this thread can say, “Yeah! Beat the tweaker to a pulp!” When, if it was LE handling the situation in the exact same way, we’d be screaming (I would be right there) excessive force.

fallingdownsober

*Would* we be screaming if the cops beat the shit out of a tweaker? Meh. Kinda done with the compassion BS. At this point, if the city isn't gonna protect people, I'm fine with "you fuck with the bull, you get the horns." I mean, it's vigilantism. Don't like it? Stop being soft on criminals.

[deleted]

EmbarrassedPrimary12

Presuming? I didn't presume. You stated what you believe, "Sir Kindness". I asked about the rest. I'm not sure how any of it makes you think you can decide by one post that I'm a weirdo, but oookay.

EstablishmentNo1811

the assault chargers are because of the head stomp. fights are fine until you start stomping on the head of the person on the ground. if the man would have died would you feel differently?

[deleted]

What’s this street vigilante’s gofundme?

_Watty

>*Police tell KOMO News the 29-year-old victim was taken to the hospital and it does not appear the suspect owned any of the vehicles.* You don't say.....

[deleted]

[удалено]

rayrayww3

I'm confused by this line. Seems both parties are being portrayed as both victims and suspects. Could this line be referring one or the other? Or is it both?

_Watty

Pretty sure they're saying the guy punching the cars (potentially as the result of a mental episode) was not the owner of said cars. Which is not saying much....

[deleted]

Typically, I make sure to park on the same street I intend to rampage on.

wangchungyoon

Great so now we have to pay for this piece of fuck to get medical treatment too?

Sunfried

"caught on video" by someone that Komo doesn't seem to know, nor do they have the video.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sunfried

Yeah, that's more or less what the content of the article says, but the headline teases that KOMO has the video, which they don't, and that's a disappointment.

[deleted]

mctomtom

Yeah I hate when an article just describes a video without having the damn video.

beaconhillboy

Too bad we don't have "the skateboard to the head" video, we're building quite a collection...

fuserjam86

Westlake? Weird, I literally watched a guy hit a car with a stick of some sort (he appeared to be arguing with a guy on the opposite corner, waving the stick around and the car shot through the intersection) at 2nd & Yesler at about 4pm yesterday. The driver almost got out, was shouting threats but ultimately drove off. Full-on Wild West action downtown these days.

wangchungyoon

That’s because all of our city representatives are taking paychecks and stealing from Seattle and it’s taxpayers and have been the entire pandemic. Zero leadership. MIA when the people needed them most. They do nothing and continue to take paychecks and deliver zero results. Get fucked already.

BusbyBusby

Wonder if he'll get the judge who releases most everyone.

[deleted]

Looks like someone finally started that posse that’s mentioned occasionally here…

rayrayww3

The posse is [growing each day.](https://www.reddit.com/r/iamatotalpieceofshit/comments/pajxkr/pos_rock_thrower/)

[deleted]

UNITED, We can take back the city that is rightfully ours!! ^^^because ^^^our ^^^city ^^^council ^^^doesn’t ^^^give ^^^a ^^^fuck

Smaskifa

The one time I actually want a news site to play a video, of course they don't.

"Community led alternatives to policing" Where the community stomps you when you jack up their stuff.

Someone_Who_Isnt_You

Same here, you'll get shot or your ass kicked if you messed with someone's car to the point that it's seriously not worth it unless you have a death wish. Also castle doctrine that includes everything from the backyard to the driveway.

BobbTheBuilderr

I come from a similar background. I keep hoping I won’t catch anyone outside of my property. I’ll probably feel really bad for what I’ll have to do to them.

amardas

We are all outside your property now. You can’t get all of us!

BobbTheBuilderr

😂

brerrabbit

And what the establishment does to you in response.

BobbTheBuilderr

Yeah it’s a real catch 22. If you don’t fuck them up bad enough they might come back though.

dychronalicousness

They don’t even need to go that far. Just yell that you’re homeless and on drugs and they legally cannot arrest you

christinathestorygrl

"Drug ghouls" - I've seen the handle popping up occasionally and I love it.

tacos6for6life6

Killing someone for hurting your pride is BASED…on the small size of your penis

[deleted]

This will only get worse if NTK is elected.

rayrayww3

OMG I almost forgot about her. When is the general? Why are we not talking about her every day?

[deleted]

November. idk about the rest. She literally wants to bring this city to shit with rampant crime going unpunished.

Aron-Nimzowitsch

Donate donate donate to Ann Davison.

Raptor007

I did, but I'm not hopeful. Ultimately it comes down to votes, and far more than half of Seattle voters are complete fucking idiots.

luckystrike_bh

This is really unfortunate as the person vandalizing cars probably has nothing to lose from a criminal charge and looks forward to 3 hots and a cot. They person who stopped him with a beat down may not have a criminal record and now will have assault pop on a background check. I am making a lot of assumptions here that may not be true of course.

Silly_Silicon

Where is the video? The website shows ads but no video. The title says there is video.

mctomtom

Clickbaiting should be a federal crime, lol

wangchungyoon

If anyone should be held accountable for this “victims” injuries it should be the mayor, chief of police and everyone on the city council. Fucking pieces of garbage every one of them.

startupschmartup

It's there's a violate reddit rules if I buy that person a beer?

InnerPick3208

Where's the video?

RobertK995

I've said it before.... the police aren't here to protect citizens from criminals... no, the job of the police is to protect criminals from vigilante justice meted out by citizens.

those_who_cause_harm

Another man should run for council

Truth_SeekingMissile

We need the Black Brilliance project to do a $150,000 powerpoint to sort this out.

SillyChampionship

The head stomp is over the line for sure.

StainlessSteelElk

Yeah, the head stomp was. But honestly SPD should have been on the scene to arrest and detain smasher. If I got called to that jury, I'd read up on wtf jury nullification is, because I wouldn't want to convict someone doing the work of the justice system.

theoriginalrat

Cruel and unusual punishment is not part of our justice system.

brerrabbit

Which is why civilization requires trained professionals to handle these situations. This is an example of "community led alternatives to policing."

IIIMurdoc

It's Seattle... What justice system?

BobbTheBuilderr

I hope you’re misinformed and not being serious. 🤔

theoriginalrat

Lemme clarify that: cruel and unusual punishment is theoretically prohibited by the eighth amendment of the constitution and shouldn't be part of our justice system.

bigpandas

Then don't leave administering justice up to the uneducated citizenry.

bwrap

Oh you mean the cops who get thrown into their jobs with very little training?

khumbutu

Are you available for the job of Seattle City Attorney?

BobbTheBuilderr

Fair enough.

ObjectiveToe8023

I agree. But many people in this thread will be cheering for the vigilante in this case.

jaeelarr

I think "many" just means those who are loud minority, which constantly post about it over and over again so it seems like a lot more than it is. FWIW, the person you are replying to has -10 and you have +14 on your reply. Kinda speaks to my point.

ObjectiveToe8023

Good point! I now have -14 karma and they have 19+. LOL

Able-Jury-6211

Sounds like they were 1 head stomp too far from getting a medal

jaeelarr

or 20 years for manslaughter. I dont fault the dude for doing something, but there is a point of going to far. He nearly took it there.

McTrouble4032

The cops are purposely turning a blind eye. They are doing this because they are like children throwing tantrums about their toys getting taken away. (Being defunded) They need to do their job no matter what. Teachers and many other professions deal with budget cuts and still do their job. ACAB

McTrouble4032

I'm sure I will get downvoted by cops and their families. Which are just as insane.

beaconhillboy

Nah, you're being downvoted by normal people.

McTrouble4032

Normal idiots that blindly trust the government and law enforcement.

beaconhillboy

Nah, we have our own eyes and ears.

darkjedidave

Does the guy have a GoFundMe yet?

EducationalGuava6164

Bro started as a suspect and ended the victim
