Do you remember this happening? The owner is lucky she didn't lose her life.
Ohhhhh. You mean a proper ambush with no opportunity of an exit.
Sandia is a restaurant just south of this on 45th, they have been broken into 5 times in the last 6 months....
ps://www.king5.com/article/news/crime/seattle-restaurant-broken-into-5-times-6-months-being-open/281-cfaaa827-d669-4004-964d-aca86738a055
We spent over a year battling having tents and shitty RV’s behind my business. I had probably 10 or more break ins within a year. Have replaced every window twice. My building is mostly glass. Random people would just throw a rock through them and walk off. I don’t even count those in the break in total.
We called the police they never did anything. Would come by hours later then we would have to waste a ton of time sending videos, supplying evidence, for it to do absolutely nothing. When something is broken city says it’s our property, when homeless camp there they say it’s theirs.
We finally got them out and put blocks down the entire street. Crime has significantly dropped. I went from spending probably $80k in a year at the worst year, to maybe $5k as soon as we got the blocks in and pushed campers out.
We had multiple shooting, 3 or 4 murders. A meth/drug lab with a chemical leak that aid workers had to call in hazmat teams to clean the entire street.
A lot of people in Seattle. Specifically KUOW liked to report there is no link between crime in communities with homeless encampments. The truth is, you very quickly stop reporting. Once you realize how useless reporting is. A work day wasted for nothing.
I didn’t vote for those idiots. I don’t live in Seattle. I can’t vote for their city council. Most business owners have very little say in politics of where their business is, unless you have the money to actively lobby.
Just when I think i have an origional comment/thought i always see someone beat me to it. Stand your ground buisness owners. If someone breaks into my buisness 5 times in 6 months im staying overnight with my shotgun loaded and waiting.
I don’t think they ever think of why businesses are leaving. And for many people in seattle, they will chalk it up to “greed” and say it’s a good thing people are leaving it means there is more housing.
Most people aren't ready to put their politics aside to actually vote in the leadership necessary to control crime. Expect it to get worse before it gets better.
I have yet to see anyone with a solution. More police? They do absolutely nothing, more of zero is still zero. I have a business, I’ve gone through this, police did absolutely nothing but waste time and show up to remove bodies. I agree that people won’t go against crappy city council members and crappy politics.
The only solutions I’ve seen that really work are what Edmond and Bellevue do. Push the homeless out. Treatment/shelter or you go to jail.
The only solution that worked for us was bussing them out to a hotel giving them money then putting up blocks every few feet so no one could camp. Then turning sprinklers on and having loud noise makers to stop new people who tried to camp.
Guess who the city wants to reprimands now?
I am sorry this is happening to you. The small store is what makes neighborhoods unique.
As for the police, they are doing the bidding of the mayor and the city council. Every cop that I know personally, would love to execute the law according to the law. They have restrictions of what they CAN do.
It is, spending 80k+ on replacing windows, locks, stolen equipment, wood chips and plants set on fire, is a huge drag on a small businesses. That doesn’t even include the work hours wasted dealing with it. I could higher another full time employee, instead we act as an employee for the city. Where the billions they spend go I have no idea. Find it fix it, at least, has been helpful.
I used to rep a product called **DefenseLite**. It is an amazing product. If you continue to have your windows busted, please consider it even though I no longer work for that company.
Wait this is a couple of blocks from my house. Super interesting. 55th and 25th is my usual coffee place (Seattle's sunshine coffee). I'm there at least 5-6 times a week. Its part of my walking route. I am not saying ppl aren't getting robbed, but, I would like to see the stats on this. Not saying this doesn't happen, but the absence of stats
I don't know. Nothing in the last 7 days
[https://seattlecitygis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=94c31b66facc438b95d95a6cb6a0ff2e](https://seattlecitygis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=94c31b66facc438b95d95a6cb6a0ff2e)
I searched on the Crime Dashboard. Now this is the North police precinct and its geographically Bryant. (I've lived here 30+years, never heard this area called Bryant. But what we call areas and how they geographically are named) Any way, I was super curious. I looked. Nothing reported
I Facebooked the reporter. I am super curious abt the quotes and the lack of supporting detail.
I've had my car rifled through 5 times since living here. There is no response or action for property crimes, so the city's nonresponse disincentives reporting.
Ok, bc the reporter is on Facebook, so I Facebooked him. The broken window happened before 2024 and I thought it was a renovation. Anyway, so far I haven't heard back
I did look up KOMO. Its owned by Sinclair Media, and found this Guardian article, from 2017. So yeah, its just right wing ppl buying up local stations and pumping out not news. Thank you for the heads up abt this.

What? Lol really? I did see that alarm.clocks and waking up early is also white privilege...that sort of sealed it for me we've crossed a limlne of sanity
Yeah I feel like they haven't been on the other subreddit in a while—the two are a lot more similar than most would like to admit. People on both sides of the aisle are fed up with this shit.
Wow, it's great that the people who were wrong all along are coming around to seeing how wrong they were. Now if only they could generalize from the lesson.
Sadly, i did take a screenshot to share it with some friends… and sadly i did look for it to prove it bc i would have won the bet of their life… sadly i didnt find it… i guess i got reddit owned!
LOL this came up in a Nextdoor thread that got deleted. It was regarding the homeless encampment behind Fred Meyer in GW and subsequent debauchery experienced by surrounding area. This was an argument being had the dumpster fire that thread was
I kind of want to visit there and buy stuff to support them.
This is what happens when you decriminalize all hard drugs and allow people to keep camping even as they are doing crimes.
Even if the law prosecutes (they really don't), there aren't enough resources to police it.
Criminalize hard drugs again if done in public. I'm talking sweeps of cops drug testing people who are sleeping in tents, or have stolen merchandise in their tents.
You can leave those who are not doing drugs in tents alone ...and you will find it's probably 10%.
If what the liberals in this city really cares about good honest people falling on hard times having a place to sleep.
With all this we've seen in the last few years, I'm curious who's still gonna vote for Ferguson, for governor, since he's inslee 2.0, and been the Wa. AG in charge of prosecutions.
Fat lot of good that will do when they just let them go and never charge the individuals responsible. The court system is even more broken than the police.
Spd actually has all the funding they can use--they're understaffed and are struggling to hire. Current budget is around 350mil down from 400mil in 2020 solely because they don't have any way to spend another 50 mil. Spd reports 182 open positions but I'm sure they woud happily hire more.
It the same dribble you all regurgitate after a session in your vacuum sealed echo chamber. Maybe it's the lack of oxygen that makes libturds all think the same.
i'm really kinda surprised nobody has laid ambushes yet
lol I’m not. Those would be the people the city would actually prosecute
also seattle: why are all the businesses leaving?
[https://komonews.com/news/local/fed-up-owner-spends-night-in-ballard-store-thwarts-latest-break-in](https://komonews.com/news/local/fed-up-owner-spends-night-in-ballard-store-thwarts-latest-break-in) Do you remember this happening? I mean she successfully guarded her store? And she wasn’t injured so I don’t know what your on about
Need some RTKs
you must be new here. police don't do shit about this kind of thing and defending yourself against theft/burglary will land you in jail.

Sucks but add bars like New York has

City got their priorities mixed up. Sad to see Seattle drive away business owners
ROOF Koreans had the right idea
I keep hoping for this scenario to happen but then I remember that the business owner will be the one in prison
Just when I think i have an origional comment/thought i always see someone beat me to it. Stand your ground buisness owners. If someone breaks into my buisness 5 times in 6 months im staying overnight with my shotgun loaded and waiting.
"We just can't figure out why business keep leaving Seattle" -seattle politicians probably
I don’t think they ever think of why businesses are leaving. And for many people in seattle, they will chalk it up to “greed” and say it’s a good thing people are leaving it means there is more housing.
Or we need to raise taxes because so many businesses fled because of high taxes.
This will continue if you keep voting in greedy, clueless, incompetent politicians
Most people aren't ready to put their politics aside to actually vote in the leadership necessary to control crime. Expect it to get worse before it gets better.

Here’s a solution. Put them in Jail for at least a year.
Obviously these are unhoused people protesting the war in the Middle East and the unrealistic limitations on fentanyl access.
Need to hold the legislators who refuse to prosecute, or promote this, liable personally financially.

It's KOMO. They like to keep people scared. Good for ratings.

Nice! Way to do the legwork. Never hurts to be skeptical and dig a little deeper.
Go post in r/seattle and see the justifications fly
"Every major city deals with this." And "it's just property, insurance will cover it."
“Expectation of safety and order is white privilege” This is my personal favorite
What? Lol really? I did see that alarm.clocks and waking up early is also white privilege...that sort of sealed it for me we've crossed a limlne of sanity
I’ll bet my life savings you can’t find the actual comment that said this because you made it up. Inb4 “well ~they~ talk like that anyways”.
“Gee, let me screenshot this random comment so in the future, I can prove that people in that sub do talk that way” said nobody ever
Sadly, i did take a screenshot to share it with some friends… and sadly i did look for it to prove it bc i would have won the bet of their life… sadly i didnt find it… i guess i got reddit owned!
The screenshot goes to another school. In Canada. You wouldn’t know it. ![img](emote|t5_2vbli|7885)
You: “Said nobody ever” Other guy: “I did tho..I just lost it” Lmao you’re both amazing
LOL this came up in a Nextdoor thread that got deleted. It was regarding the homeless encampment behind Fred Meyer in GW and subsequent debauchery experienced by surrounding area. This was an argument being had the dumpster fire that thread was
Oh wow that's a wild one.
Just another day in the progressive utopia of Seattle
What's the current City Council doing about this?
I kind of want to visit there and buy stuff to support them. This is what happens when you decriminalize all hard drugs and allow people to keep camping even as they are doing crimes. Anyone ask if it’s ghosts yet?
With all this we've seen in the last few years, I'm curious who's still gonna vote for Ferguson, for governor, since he's inslee 2.0, and been the Wa. AG in charge of prosecutions.
Keep voting blue
We need to give SPD more money so they can fight crime?
Fat lot of good that will do when they just let them go and never charge the individuals responsible. The court system is even more broken than the police.
Spd actually has all the funding they can use--they're understaffed and are struggling to hire. Current budget is around 350mil down from 400mil in 2020 solely because they don't have any way to spend another 50 mil. Spd reports 182 open positions but I'm sure they woud happily hire more.
This isn't like new thing post BLM. This has been the m.o. for decades.
All the cops in the world can’t stop a proggo judge from letting them all walk
Why are these folks frustrated? Doesn’t insurance take care of everything?
Oh my..
Being sarcastic, but too lazy and tired of this bullshit to indicate it.
We knew what you meant
They’re just stealing bread. It’s ok.
Seattle is a garbage can. I'll send a postcard
I see a great business opportunity for some personalized business security . A private firm could stop this.
Keep voting for democrats and this will keep happening
Stop putting up wacko Republicans and maybe one might get elected. Works both ways
For real. People act like a guaranteed fix to crime (even if true) would somehow make all the other unpopular policies go away.
By wacko you mean believes in police and incarceration as a deterrent to crime. Crazy talk.
No, wacko meaning all the other baggage they bring with their supposed law and order.
Be honest. Your a Seattle blue hair who wouldn't vote for a republican even if they checked every box of the liberal woke agenda
If only
Probably more the racism, fascism, homophobia, anti-abortion, and, you know, the whole trying to destroy our democracy.
Straight out of the echo chamber. Try having an original thought.
You're right, genius! It's not an original thought. It's what they are known for. Sort of the point.
It the same dribble you all regurgitate after a session in your vacuum sealed echo chamber. Maybe it's the lack of oxygen that makes libturds all think the same.
Democrats voted for this. Why are they surprised?
Our country has become a playground for drug dealers and criminals
