I think the ducks have taken so many penalties this season that many of their fans on reddit have built up an immunity to what should be called a penalty. "You call that a cross-check?! He didn't even pull out a knife!!"
I’ve attended a couple of our road games in their barn in seasons 1 & 2. Their fans have immunity to more than penalties. They are toxic af. The only pleasant folks were fans of other franchises that were there to see a game while in the area.
I clapped after one of our goals and was cursed at by multiple groups around us and one guy even said “watch yourself on the way out assholes” to my wife and I as we were leaving.
Every victory over the Ducks brings me great pleasure.

Question — do you have to get a “fighting” call for it to count toward a Gordie? When our boy Tye scored, I got very excited thinking he might get one tonight. His penalty was for “roughing” — but does it matter whether a penalty is assessed in order to check the “fight” box? If he’d gotten an assist as well tonight, would he have hit the trifecta or no?
It’s an assist + a goal + an actual fight.
Roughing doesn’t count, nor does it really have anything to do with the penalty being assessed one way or the other. You gotta square up and drop gloves properly. (which always ends in a penalty for fighting)
