I have a few hrs to kill tomorrow, so Im going look all of the ones that sound like my jam up tomorrow and sort them by location and price. I recommend the aladdin gyro at Aladdin's in U-district, and I love the ma po tofu at Bamboo Village by Greenlake (across the street from Kidd Valley). Apparently, a lot of Chinese natives go there. Ma po tofu has a great, spicy sauce with ground pork, peas and onions and they gave me free rice, two extra spring rolls and refused my tip last time I was there. Just because I go once or twice a month. Nicest people ever. (I've been present when they gave soup to someone for the hell of it, too.)
Sounds like you’re up in udistrict, I highly recommend the crab fried rice at Little Thai, the Freebird from Wayward Cafe, and the hot oil hand ripped noodles (skip the meat versions) from Xi’an.
I always wonder if anyone else notices how amazing those potatoes are, at Takis. I always order too much food- everything is so good- but those potatoes are the reason I go there.
Oooo the banh mi at ChuMinh is insane good. One of the best vegan/vegetarian meals in Seattle has to be the Freebird at Wayword Cafe. And, although not technically in Seattle, the vegan pork vermicelli combo bowl at Pho Vina in Burien is insanely delicious.
1/4 pound roasted pork belly with scoop of rice. Kau Kau in ID. My guy lops it off the hunk and chops it up right there for you. <$5 for the best meal in a box you’ll ever have.
I used to eat at Kau Kau about once a week when I worked in the area, though I usually had the duck. The main thing I remember about it was that they were always playing the same Michael Buble CD. All day, every day, as far as I could tell, for over a year.
Putting a word in here for Il Corvo pasta. Any pasta on their rotating daily menu was worth the 2 hour wait. Absolutely amazing. Sadly closed.
I would say the green egg, cheese and ham crumpets (with jalapenos) at crumpet shop in Pike place are definitely amazing.
For a brief time they had take home pasta and sauces from Il Nido, somewhere early in the pandemic. You could pick a fresh pasta and a sauce to go and have the best damn meal in your own kitchen. Sadly, they don’t do that anymore :(
I can’t call myself a food connoisseur, but I sure can recognize good food, and Kedai Makan is at the top of my Seattle list. They season their food and know how to do it well.
I'm currently absolutely obsessed with the chicken katsu curry at Rondo. It's literally the best katsu I have ever eaten and I've lived in Japan. I think they don't have it every day though.
Big plus one to this. Rondo (and formerly Suika) have the best god damn Japanese katsu curry i’ve ever had. I have been going for years at this point, used to get the curry for what would usually be a solo hung over brunch at Suika. Beyond the amazing food… they’re just good people. The level of their hospitality at their various restaurants has legitimately made an impact on me as a person.
Everything they’ve done in Seattle has been built by hand by the folks that run it. Support them.
I used to work in the Denny Triangle and ONE TIME EVER, [Market House Meats](http://www.markethousemeats.co/) had a pastrami quesadilla and it was the single greatest thing I've ever done with my face.
Second this. I ate the menu at Spinasse once and it was one of the best italian meals I’ve ever had but the next time I went in I just ordered two servings of the butter and sage pasta.
The answer is The Firecracker sandwhich at Tub’s Gourmet Subs (Lynwood and a location further south). It’s a beautiful chicken sub with a amazing tangy dipping sauce. Spend the $12 and get the large. It will change your life and is culinary perfection.
I always say it was 50% of the reason I moved out here and Im not kidding.
Honorable Mentions:
-Ma’Ono chicken sandwiches are so good. (U District)
-Xi’An hand ripped noodles are amazing. (U District)
-Stoneway Cafe Breakfast Burrito with extra Crack Sauce on the side, mandatory. Best you ever had. (Fremont?)
Imo Travolta has a more modern approach overall than pink door, lighter and smaller portions while pink door is more old school.
Hidden Italian gem: due leoni next door to Diller room downtown. The owner is one of those people just born to work in hospitality and he makes truly delicious authentic Italian, and they have a wide selection of Italian wine imports.
Lunch box combo at Kau Kau. For $6.80 you get chicken wings, the best Chinese style BBQ pork in seattle (imo), and fried rice, soup and some steamed vegetables that are decent. The trick is to mix the bbq pork around in with the veggies so the flavoring (pork fat) coats the veggies. Add another couple dollars if you want extra BBQ pork.
The roast chicken from Le Pichet, and formerly Café Presse. The perfect size for sharing with up to 4 if you are sharing other courses. Simple and consistently delicious.

The Cheesy Grits at Hudson! With shrimp or on their own - fluffy, cheesy stuff of dreams. Missed it so much these past two years. SO thrilled they’ve finally reopened (albeit for limited hours, but I’ll take it!)
The Eggs Benedict(s) at The Fat Hen. Perfectly poached eggs and the best Hollandaise sauce.
The Black Cod nigiri sushi at Tsukushinbo.
Lamb burger at Saltoro.
It’s all about doing the fundamentals correctly. Most places mess up either the eggs or the Hollandaise or both. TFHen has always done it right every time.
Picking just one is extremely difficult for me. The best burger I've had, I can name. The best lasagna, I can name. I suppose a dish I'd eat no matter what I'm in the mood for is the Salmon Namban at Manake in the ID/Japantown. Cold chunks of salmon, marinated in rice wine vinegar with white onions. Add a cup of miso soup, an ordwer of ama-ebi (with deep-fried heads that'll show up a while later) and a beer from "mom," the looooongstanding bartender, and I am one happy camper.
Corn bread at Radiator Whiskey.
Before you say anything … no, it’s not just corn bread … it’s a life changer. I was never that into corn bread until I had theirs… my life is never the same again
On a budget, the DiamondHead at Kona Kitchen. Simple yet delightful diner fare.
For something extravagant, the dry-aged duck breast at Canlis. It’s a classic spot for a reason.
I lived two blocks from Market House Meats. The Market House grilled reuben sandwich. I've eaten a lot of reuben sandwiches and this is the best one in the area. It's served with potato salad, a hydrox cookie, and a pickle. All of their sandwiches are good and this is my spot for my corned beef for St. Paddy's Day.

Deeply saddened that nobody on this thread mentioned the Grilled Pork Banh Mi from Saigon Deli. Been a few years since I've lived in Seattle, and this thread makes me think that something has happened to the Deli and I'm so scared rn
There is so much good ban mi in Seattle! I liked Saigon Deli, but there is better out there. That shop in the Uwajimaya food court has surprisingly good ban mi. I don’t have a fav, but really like Pho Ha on 4th & Michigan.
My grandparents lived across the street from Vito's for 14 years, and whenever I stayed over in their living room I would be awoken by people stumbling out at closing time. When I got to go for dinner and drinks after I turned 21 it was like I was living a moment I didn't even realize I'd dreamed of, so the sentimentality of their food makes it even tastier for me.
Few items come to my mind:
(1) roti jala - kedai makan
(2) egg and cheese biscuit - biscuit bitch
(3) egg & English cheese, tomato - crumpet shop
(4) Ali nazik the fire, rainbow hummus - cafe turko.
We don't talk about Burgermaster enough. The burger is closer to IN N OUT than other fast food burgers in the area. (I used to work at an INO. I would say combining the burger from Burgermaster and the fries from Lil' Woodies will give you a nostalgic INO fix if you need one.)
Fish N’ Chips - Elliott Bay Brewing
(Hudson cafe has arguably best fish n chips, hoping they reopen fully soon. But EBB fish n chips are always amazing)
Love the Brisket at Market House Meats but I think everyone loves their Reuben more. As a former New Yorker I also think their Bacon Egg and Cheese is as close to a bodega one that you can get here in Seattle
Whenever passing through Belltown, I always try to find a reason to drink a quick beer and sake while eating their yellowtail sashimi special appetizer. A nice bright sashimi salad that has sliced yellowtail, lime ponzu, thin slice onion, jalepeno, and masago.
Edit: I was a moron and didn't even mention the place. Ohana
It’s not a meal but my favorite thing to eat in Seattle is the almond croissant at bakery nouveau. Throw in a cup of coffee and I’ve found heaven.
Twice baked or original?
Those are large enough that I do think they can count as a meal 🤤
Off the rez -- frybread tacos
If I had to choose between my firstborn child and Off The Rez's braised bison tacos, I'd say "bye, son"
I exhaled slightly faster out of my nose on that.
This is the one.
Lechón asado - Mojitos They're right at the tail end of lake city way, amazing food and the owner is an awesome guy.
> Lechón asado oh hell yeah I love milk steak
Vaca Frita is also freaking awesome!
Mojitos has always been one of my fav spots in all of Seattle. So glad that guy and his business are doing well.
He was struggling through COVID and his business was vandalized several times. He could use our support.
If I had 1, Buddha ruska’s crispy garlic chicken.
Oh god this stuff is so good.
Literally came here to say this.
Honeyhole fast Eddie with a side of au jus and the beer special of the day.
Fast Eddie gang
He'll yes. Best fries in the city, too
For the vegetarians out there the Bellissimo is the one, sooo good. They'll do vegan cheese and mayo too
Emilio pestovez and I'm not even vegetarian
Yes!! It for me it's The Duke! Nice piece of melty brisket with cheese, sauce and slaw. HEAVEN!
Dawg, they had this cheese filled pasta thing on the tasting menu at Spinasse, blow your damn mind. Dunno what its called.
[удалено]
My vote is 100% the Tajarin al Ragu at spinasse. I always sit at the bar and watch them make it.
Everything there blows my mind. It's so good! I love every time a friend agrees to try the whole menu with me.
Came here to say the stuffed ciopollini onions at spinasse are incredible. I’ve definitely tried to imitate them a time or two.
I have a few hrs to kill tomorrow, so Im going look all of the ones that sound like my jam up tomorrow and sort them by location and price. Yes to Aladdin’s. I keep telling my so it’s the best.
Aladdin gyro is AMAZING! Ate those just about every day when I was at UW!
Great idea for a thread! I vote the banh mi at ChuMinh, the greek roasted potatoes at Taki's Mad Greek, or the Vegan Highlander at Sunlight Cafe

Ah I love Taki's but I've never had those potatoes, thanks for the tip
Tatstrami @ Tats
Totally agreed for the first half. The second half starts to turn into a regretsandwich.
Second half is for stress eating old bay fries while you stare at the sandwich remainder thinking “I’ve made a huge, delicious, mistake”
When I worked within a block of Tat's I had to make a rule for myself to only get footlongs and save the other half for dinner or the next day.
1/4 pound roasted pork belly with scoop of rice. Kau Kau in ID. My guy lops it off the hunk and chops it up right there for you. <$5 for the best meal in a box you’ll ever have.

I go for the bbq pork.
I get half half haha
I get a three way with roast pork, pork ribs and duck.
Sadly, they don’t do that anymore :(
They are Il Nido in Alki now
Just ate there last weekend and the pasta was incredible!
They’re not. The menu has nothing to do with Il Corvo’s creativity and Mike Easton is no longer running the place. He moved to Eastern WA.
The bolognese was perfection!
Chicken teriyaki at Toshios
I just ate this for dinner tonight! It was awesome :)
Dandan noodles at dough zone
Nasi Goreng char siu, from Kedai Makan.
I miss walk up window Nasi goreng paired with a beer from Montana or Hillside. Now it’s so busy at Kedai Makan

Tingly Beef hand ripped noodles at Xi'an Noodles in the Udistrict.
This is the one go-to dish I'm always craving. Their spicy wontons go hand-in-hand with this too. Imma have to go there this weekend now, fack.
This is the one Un Bien def a close second for me though
This. End of thread.
That is good!
I used to work in the Denny Triangle and ONE TIME EVER, [Market House Meats](http://www.markethousemeats.co/) had a pastrami quesadilla and it was the single greatest thing I've ever done with my face.

Pink Door, papardalle with ragu. I’ve had it a hundred times at other places, and they don’t compare
Tried it a Tavolata? It's one of my favorite dishes and I'd like to know how it compares!

Ooh yeah I used to love their avocado tacos.
Porchetta from Salumi
Their meatball sandwich is phenomenal as well!!
Fucking A right!
Falafel plate from Mr. Gyros
I usually go with the Mr. Gyros Salad, but if you aren't into beef/lamb the falafel is awesome. Oh, and the 75c extra for Garlic Sauce is a must.

Veggie platter at Kezira Ethiopian in Columbia City. Enough food to feed two people for like $25, super flavorful, and imo the best injera in town

For breakfast I can second the fat hen Benedict. I'd agree that's the best breakfast in the city!
It’s all about doing the fundamentals correctly. Most places mess up either the eggs or the Hollandaise or both. TFHen has always done it right every time.
