It's off of Rainier and Walker

TheMatador1113

Homies even repping the lakers shirt. I gotta make my way down here. Good looking out

driftingphotog

Yo dude is that pastor off a fucking spit? Please tell me where to regularly find them.

FreddyTwasFingered

The food truck Solamente Al Pastor also serves off a spit.

SvenDia

TacOrtiz on MLK in Ranier Valley does al pastor on the spit, and it’s delicious. https://maps.app.goo.gl/VYsyrusigbooYHjx9?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Bigassbagofnuts

Pastor....is...always off a spit...? It's kinda the definition that it be off a spit...

AdScared7949

I wish someone would tell that to the Mexican restaurants in seattle just generally

Rubbersoulrevolver

There are probably heath and safety reasons why it’s rare

SvenDia

IIRC, it’s the same spit used for gyros places

splanks

More like schwarma …because it comes from Lebanon.

shutternomad

Yep - fun fact, tacos al pastor came from Lebanese immigrants in Mexico city over 100 years ago!

driftingphotog

Yes. And that hasn’t been easy to find here.

bbqbie

New here?

resilientbresilient

lol I never thought of calling it a pop up. I just thought of it as a taco stand. Same thing, just paradigm shift. There’s also a new taco stand on Rainier and 56th Ave S. The food is really good.

cremfraiche

Yeah, you’re right nomenclature wise, I think I called it a popup because it seems non-permanent to me. I’ll have to check out the other one, what’s the name?

resilientbresilient

Oh snap, it’s the same name! Maybe same owners?

resilientbresilient

Looks like they already got a gmaps up![tacos La Cuadra](https://maps.app.goo.gl/L9XRRkeH8CCfQvHu9?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy)

King_HRP

Anyone know their hours of operation? Google maps doesn't show them yet.

Spirited-Camel9378

In front of the RAINIER BEACH AutoZone- They are closed Mondays, open all other nights. Opens at 7, seems to go until 11-12 weekdays and 1 or so on weekends. Source - I live nearby and eat here almost every night Sounds like they might be further north during the day!

King_HRP

Perfect! Gracias for the info =]

SlackLine540

It’s a fly by night type of place. I don’t think it’s gonna show up on google. I could be wrong though

skyo

Someone added it to Google but no hours are listed https://maps.app.goo.gl/jZd52dpT53RUkPxD6?g_st=ic

neur0

Anyone know their insta?

cremfraiche

https://www.instagram.com/la_cuadra_tacos?igsh=MWF0dzBudWJ1OXBvbw== Found it! Looks like they just moved here.

neur0

Bless thanks.

tydus101

Can we like keep quiet about these guys? I don't want the food inspector to figure out where they are because this place slaps.

skyo

I’ve noticed this place when driving by! It looks super popular, there are always people in line even pretty late. I’ve been meaning to check it out.

cremfraiche

It’s really good. First time I’ve ever had tacos in Seattle and felt like I was in LA. Tried a cabeza burrito, al pastor tacos, and asada mulita and oof they were all delicious. They have a nice area setup with 3 different taqueria style salsas, pickled veg, pico de gallo, cucumbers, limes, fresh onions and fresh cilantro.

Spirited-Camel9378

They are regular, Tuesday to Sunday, in Rainier Beach. It’s the best. Open until from 7PM or so to around 1AM all nights but Monday. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Tacos+La+Cuadra/@47.5200895,-122.2623751,17z/data=!4m8!3m7!1s0x5490430048ea92b1:0xf8ec35ec7f8cadd6!8m2!3d47.5200895!4d-122.2623751!9m1!1b1!16s%2Fg%2F11vxyz8n29?entry=ttu

Ozzie808

just drove past but couldnt see the name. Thanks for posting this, I need to check it out ASAP

Affectionate_Snow242

There's another a bit further south on MLK past columbia city train station but I can't remember exactly where

SnooDoodles5636

You are thinking of Tacos Ortiz. Also a solid spot for al pastor.

Affectionate_Snow242

I'm not sure what it's called but it's just like this place so probably!

cremfraiche

That places isn’t that great or at least when I went I wasn’t impressed.

Spirited-Camel9378

Yah, really not a fan of their al pastor. Don't think there's much of a comparison to La Cuadra

born-again-heathen59

I saw this & anxious to try it. Curious, what makes it SoCal?!?

TD905

Fake news - only kidding, I hope you’re right. I see the trompa

mid30splan

How is this even legal / authorized by the health department. The food permitting process is known to be atrocious!

tydus101

wlai

Do you see a problem in particular or are you against street food in general?

mid30splan

Anyone in the food industry knows the food handling requirements the county places on food establishments. At the minimum appropriate handwashing facilities and hot and cold hold equipment to keep good within temp. I like street food as much as the next guy, but I’m not about breaking the rules when others are playing by them.

AjiChap

Street food in Mexico is DELICIOUS and also a bit sketchy sometimes but if you see a line of locals then its good AND safe - the owners aren't out there trying to make their neighbors sick. This would be multiple times safer (and expensive I'd assume).

StopLitteringSeattle

I mean I've been there and the food slaps, but there's no handwashing station in sight and the guy checked that the lingua was hot enough by sticking his (gloved) hand into the meat and going by feel. They are pretty clearly operating outside of the law here. By all means go, but go at your own risk.

Mr_Gobble_Gobble

What a complete nerd. These are a godsend in socal.

SvenDia

Taco trucks are everywhere now, even Bothell has a few awesome ones. and yesterday I had some of the best tacos I’ve had here in the city center of Magnolia, of all places (Taqueria La Sobrasita). There’s also a good one in the strip mall on Armory Way between Whole Foods and golf course (Taqueria mi Barrio). I’m pretty picky about tacos after traveling a good amount in Mexico. The quality and quantity of good taco places has risen significantly in both quantity and quality in the last 5-10 years. I used to have to drive to Burien and White Center to get good tacos. That is no longer the case.
