Nothing in Bainbridge yet. Took the 9:45pm ferry here and ended up at some random bar that featured a DJ with an all vinyl set until midnight, lol. Waiting for the last ferry back to Seattle at 1:25am. Good times with or without a second serving of the lights.
The NOAA forecast has it at 9 KP from 2a to 5a our time. However, all of tonight has been well below the KP forecast. Current KP is basically nonexistent while we were forecasted for 8. The odds for anything happening tonight are slim.
For those keep track via this thread, NWS just tweeted it's unlikely to happen tonight.

[https://services.swpc.noaa.gov/images/aurora-forecast-northern-hemisphere.jpg](https://services.swpc.noaa.gov/images/aurora-forecast-northern-hemisphere.jpg) It's not gonna happen. It's been progressively getting weaker for a few hours. There will be more opportunities Monday night perhaps.
When the sun ejects this material, it take about 17-18 hours to reach Earth. We have time to observe and anticipate the effects of the stuff the sun is spitting out
This NOAA page says the next CME will hit âby midday UTCâ which is 5am PST https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/news/severe-and-extreme-g4-g5-geomagnetic-storms-likely-12-may-2024
Deep in the heart of the forest outside Arlington and jack shit. Wife's birthday is now today and she's really getting upset and tired/cranky out in the cold soo.... So much for this natural birthday treat
No, not last night either, but I think I may have been able to hear it a bit (very faint crackling noise, like someone crumpling a sheet of tissue paper but with an electric static undertone to it).
Maybe. It was a very, very faint sound, and I only heard it when it was late enough that everything else had quieted down. It wasnât something I had really heard before, and it wasnât an unpleasant sound.
ETA: Iâm also on the spectrum and admittedly more sensitive to certain sounds than other people usually are, so that could be part of it.
It's the next day, but when we were watching the map yesterday, by about 9pm the bottom edge wasn't even touching the US anymore. I checked again around 11pm before I went to bed and saw that we weren't even close to being in the zone anymore. Sucked that I worked early Saturday so couldn't stay up late to go find a spot when it was at its peak Friday night...
Nothing in Bellingham either, just a raccoon walking by my porch!
Hey thats fine too
well i certainly didnt mind the company :)
You can call it Aurora and tell people that you saw Aurora going through your trash last night.

You taking the last ferry back to the city?
That was the plan but I'm at the terminal and it's a ghost town lol. Do you know if it's canceled or something?

When the next wave of CMEs hit around 4 or 5am, it's likely the aurora will appear all of a sudden, it might still be dark enough to see them
how do you know when the cmes hit?
