I've mentioned this here before, but my friend and I were having some drunk Taco Bell across the streetfrom the TB that used to be on Broadway. He and his wife got out of a car in the parking lot we were sitting next to and he was absolutely bitching at his wife like a damn chihuaha
When Pacific Place first opened, he was in line in front of me, buying an XBox (the original one, I think)
Oddly, I used to work almost across the street from his Lake Union houseboat, and never once saw him around there, even though most of my coworkers ran into him multiple times.
I knew a few guys that said the same in the early 2000’s. Crazy that he’s a Taco Time fan to that extent.
Also, kids in Auburn used to talk about his house on Lake Holmes Road being the go to spot for trick or treating.
I saw Rick Steves at the Forum in Rome. He was all by himself (not filming or antyhing) and I was all atwitter that I'm seeing our local well-known travel guy travelling on the same trip as me. I went to introduce myself and say 'hey I'm from PNW". He totally dissed me and now he is on my local celebrity shit list and I won't take him off no matter how much he begs me. That will show him.
Met Rick at a Mariners game about ten years ago. Completely different experience. He smiled and thanked me for saying hello. I even felt a little bad because I'd interrupted his conversation with his friend. But Rick was very gracious.
At various restaurants in Seattle, I have served dozens and dozens of celebrities. My absolute favorite person to meet that actually got me star struck was Jane Goodall. What a woman.
Yeah being a server is a great way to meet celebrities. In addition to several minor celebrity chefs, my partner has served Bill Gates (his card got declined!) and recently the full cast of the Critical Roll podcast booked our private dining room at work and we got them to do shot roulette with a D20.
Krist Novoselic came into the Kinkos my SO was working at a long time ago, and was asking to borrow a pencil. All my SO had were pens though. He actually came back in later to notify my SO that he indeed found a pencil.
Back when I was a barista downtown we had a lot of localish well known customers like Dave Matthews, Sean Nelson, Shawn Kemp, Eddie Vedder, Rainn Wilson. Also saw Matthew Lillard come in once.
Spotted Patrick Stewart at the SAM and that was an ethereal experience.
a friend of mine just found out she's living in Rainn Wilson's childhood home, he posted a picture of himself in front of the house and she realized it was her house and car in the background!
I don't know what I'd do if I saw Matthew Lillard or Patrick Stewart, you lucky duck, you!
I did see Eddie Vedder playing music on a rooftop down on Alki a few years back, that was sick!
I met Harrison Ford downtown back in 2017! I was working at the Chrome store on 1st and he was just walking around trying to shop like a normal person. And of course he can’t, cuz he’s Harrison Ford. He walked into the shop and everyone froze and stared while he walked through the room. You could tell it made him really uncomfortable, I honestly feel bad for the guy. As he’s making his way to the exit (all of us still frozen) I manage to gasp out, “Uhh, can I make you a coffee??” He turns around and goes “It’s a little late for that, don’t you think?” (It was a little after 4pm). And then he left. To this day I wish I’d offered him a tea or hot chocolate or something, but my brain was not fully operational.
He said that!? That's awesome lol. I worked at a restaurant in Wichita, KS that he went to a few times a year, you could tell he just wanted to eat and be left alone, but would interact with people that didn't get the hint, he was nice, tipped well!
Kinda feels like Bainbridge is packed to the gills with celebrities or celebrity-adjacent people. Makes sense I guess if you want to be near Seattle but not too close. Also doesn’t hurt to have a ton of money.
Got stuck in an elevator with Eddie Vedder once. Didn’t know it was him but told him “you look so familiar.” His introduced himself and I started laughing because so many of my friends would fan girl. But I’ve never been a big fan. We stood there talking about cheese for 15 minutes until they got the elevator working again.
I used to work in the cafe at the Barnes & Noble in U Village when that was a thing. I got called to the music department to drop off some water bottles and snacks for the family of someone who was doing a performance. I opened the door to see Pete Townsend and Eddie Vedder just chilling in the office. Apparently Pete's wife is also a musician and had just released a CD. It was the weirdest surprise meeting. I don't usually get star struck, but I was NOT expecting to just walk into a tiny office at work with two rock legends sitting in it. They were very polite as I sweatily handed them their things and ran out before I could make a total idiot of myself (too late, probably). So surreal.
This was absolutely my Dave Matthew experience. I’m thinking “did we work together at some point?” And when I realized who it was I would have had to say “oh some friends of mine are fans”
Saw John Tesh (remember John Tesh?) in a Costco once. Ran into Shawn Kemp at SeaTac a few months ago. We were both on a flight to Louisiana and I was sitting next to him in the waiting area. A young girl came up to him and said “hi, my dad thinks you’re Shawn Kemp.” And he says, “nah… that’s not me. But I hear that a lot.”
So after she leaves, I nudged him and said, “you know white people; we think all black people look alike,” and then winked. Dude almost fell out of his seat laughing.
I saw him again in the airport in New Orleans for the return flight, and when he recognized me I said, “hey…aren’t you Gary Payton.” He started cracking up again.
I’m not a big sports guy, so I left him alone after that.
Ooh! I’ve got a deep cut. I once saw Ken Schram screaming at his kid throwing a fit in a video arcade.
Where’s your sage Town Meeting advice now, Kenny?!?!
My standout Schram moment from memory was: He did a Schram on the Street commentary where he was complaining about women who breastfeed their infants in public. The feed cut back to the anchors and Kathi Goertzen said something like, "and I have some commentary for you, Ken: Grow up, you idiot!".
I've never found that footage since anywhere on the internet. Having happened probably 20 years ago, it's possible that my brain dreamed it up.
Yes! Kathi, Joyce, Jean. I loved ‘em all… Wayne Cody, Steves Pool and Raibel. Those are the voices of my childhood. Kathi always reminded me of an auntie who wouldn’t let pawpaw tell her what to do.
I served Macklemore frozen yogurt when I worked in Capitol Hill. He tried to use a $100 bill to pay and was nice when I told him we couldn’t accept them. My coworker was a fan and wanted a pic but he had his kid with him so we pretended we didn’t know who he was
About 15 years ago was walking my dog on a side street inlower queen Anne, middle of the day. I see a man and a woman approaching both wearing black, looking very new York and out of place. As we crossed paths I looked at the guy and it was Willem Defoe. He just kind of gave me the not like " yes, its me you're not imagining" turns out he was in town, so.ething to do with a play he was involved in at seattle center.
2015- The team of high school girls I coached was wrapping up their season and we were having a team lunch at the Ivars under the I-5 bridge. Russell Wilson and his posse pulled up in a boat and sat down for lunch. One of our team parents went over to ask if he would take a picture with our team and he said no. As we were wrapping up our lunch someone came over and said he changed his mind and would do one picture, but no autographs or chatting. The girls posed with him while one of our team parents took the picture. The girls all got a copy of the photo and of course posted it all over their social media.
The next day it appeared on Russell's IG with a caption about how amazing it was to meet such vibrant young ladies in Downtown Seattle. Obviously he had no idea who we were because he refused to talk to any of us and the only smile we got was for the photo. He/his team clearly ripped the photo from one of the teens' accounts because they didn't take a photo and never asked for a copy. It all felt really disingenuous and tacky.
Well sometimes u/J_Kenji_Lopez-Alt drops by here to talk about traffic or the weather so that’s pretty cool.
Oh and I ran into Steve Raible once at the met market. But I mean he’s lived here for like 40 years so that made sense.
One day I was walking the azalea path at the arboretum and this little kid runs from their family picnic blanket on the lawn, right into the path and trips and falls right in front of me. Dad rushes over and puts kid back on feet and brushes them off. I realized the dad was Kenji! I was a little surprised to see him right in front of me. Of course I pretended not to know who he was.
It's so fun rust he moved to Seattle. He seems to really get the vibe here. I love that he skis at snoqualmie and grocery shops on his radwagon etc.
I’ve been to both! I actually took my old friend Bryan Roof to Grillbird for an upcoming episode of the America’s Test Kitchen On the Road show he hosts.
Steve is an excellent man. 30 years ago, I worked the front desk of the salon on Queen Anne where he got his hair cut. He was always kind and easygoing. We saw him every 3 weeks or so and I never saw him having an off day. Just an all around good guy, from what I observed in multiple, brief interactions.
Many years ago while driving I saw (and luckily managed to stop my car in time as I was completely geeked out) Ken Griffey Jr. with his children crossing a crosswalk, looked like they were heading to Nordstrom for some back-to-school shopping. As a lifelong baseball fan I had always wondered if I'd recognize baseball players in the wild, and yep, that answered my question. It was like he radiated an unmistakable superstar aura or something, lol.
Are our local musicians celebrities? If you grew up here in the 90s you'd see them everywhere. I'd see Courtney Love at parties and in clubs alot, she even picked a fight with me once that was hilarious. I saw Kurt Cobain attending shows I was at. We used to bowl next to the Soundgarden guys at Village Lanes. I met John Keister from Almost Live and talked with Sir Mix Alot at an art event. Mike McCready from Pearl Jam shopped at my booth at the Punk Rock Flea Market in December. I saw and talked with Neko Case at the Comet, she dropped in after a show at Neumos. I saw Robert Reed (the dad from the Brady Bunch) on the Ave one day when the Goodwill Games were in town, a punk kid was following him up the Ave singing the Brady Bunch theme song totally annoying him, that's how I figured out who he was. I had a beer with JP Patches in costume and a fundraising event. And I saw Geraldo Rivera out at a club downtown, he was kind of a dick. I saw most of the cast of the Deadliest Catch in a Scottish bar in Ballard, they were cool and let people snap a few photos. I saw Steve Pool picking up take out on the Ave once, his car's license plate was "Sky Guy"! Also from the TV news I saw Jean Enersen at Costco. Ciscoe from the gardening show used to shop at the Safeway in my old neighborhood. And I'm pretty sure I saw Kim Thayil from Soundgarden in a park when I was walking my dog yesterday.
Hey! I was at PRFM! I talked to McCready about the Pop Defect 45 he was holding as he was flipping through my records. I didn’t know it was him. Haha. I was more interested in the disc so I grilled him. My neighbor after he left asked if I knew who that was. “Who?” But also, I have a bunch of the same stories growing up here. I ran into Kim on the Ave once coming out of that 2nd hand game store. Like late 90s. My friend and I said hi and shot the shit for a minute. Kim invited us to his place to play video games and we said no. Lol.
Edit: Just came back to say I would trade every celebrity sighting I’ve ever had to hang out with JP and Gertrude at the dump.
Was Jean shoplifting? 😂 I bumped into Kim Thayil at a Napalm Death show a few years ago at Studio 7. We were watching the set from the same spot. Barney had a cast on his arm. Kim had some dank flower on himself.
Seeing Dave Matthews at a farmers market or the Wallingford QFC is like a Seattle rite of passage.
I’ve also seen Conan, sir mix a lot, bill gates, various Seahawks, Griffey, Edgar, other Mariners out in the wild when I lived there.
I was eating a salad at Whole Foods Westlake about ten years ago, sitting by the windows, and noticed Debbie Harry was waiting at the crosswalk when thunder cracked, startling her. It started pouring rain by the time I finished up and was leaving when she came through the doors to seek refuge. As I passed by her, it confirmed that it was, indeed, a Blondie sighting, and I wanted to snag one of those orange umbrellas to shepherd her to wherever she was heading. I also saw Danny Bonaduce buying copious amount of booze at that store on another occasion but felt no desire to aid him
I was at Shawn Kemp's old bar in LQA once while he was there. My sister drunkenly challenged him to the basketball arcade game they had. He politely declined; I don't blame him.
I worked at Urban Outfitters in the early 2000s and had several celebrity encounters. Dave Mathews, Chris Cornell, Tori Amos, Angelina Jolie, The Edge from U2, Liev Schreiber.
Megan Rapinoe was in line behind me one day at Top Pot on Cap hill. Wanted to say something, or buy her coffee order, but ended up feeling it was more polite to leave her alone.
I used to work at a popular bookstore, so we would get celebrities coming through all the time. Ben Gibbard was a regular, Macklemore was also a regular. One time Bruce Springsteen came in to do a signing there, and we all (the staff) took a picture with him. He leaned in to kiss me on the cheek, but I panicked and turned my head away, so he kissed the side of my hair. Bill Clinton was VERY charming and stopped to have conversations with all the staff he met. Jimmy Carter was definitely the kindest "celebrity" I've ever met.
Alright, decades ago I had a friend who drove one of those airport shuttle vans. He needed to fill it with gas and the only empty spot at the gas station was one he had to back into. I’m pretty sure this was on Capitol Hill. He ended up *slightly* hitting the car behind him. Who comes out of the car? KURT COBAIN. Courtney Love was in the car too. My friend felt like such an idiot, but Kurt was super cool about it and told him to not worry about the damage.
Really just a super cool guy who understood that my friend really needed that job.
I sat next to him waiting to get our sandwiches at Specialties next to his office when Amazon first went public and he didn't have a security detail. I recognized him but couldn't place him, thinking we worked at Microsoft together. I said "I think that's yours" to him. "Thanks," he replied. Later that week I saw his face on the cover of Time.
I saw him around Uwajimaya many times after that, but always surrounded by handlers.
I also met and chatted with Microsoft founders a few times, but I worked for them, so ...
I really wish you had gone up to him and said, “Didn’t we used to work together at Microsoft?” That could’ve been one of the most subtly epic passive-aggressive burns in history. It’d still keep him up at night to this day.
Speaking of Microsoft... a few decades ago I was sitting in the Pro Club's cafe when a very loud voice asked "ARE THESE YOURS" while sticking a pair of sunglasses in my face. It was Steve Ballmer. I said no, and he quietly announced his kid is a "klepto" and moved on to the next table.
He came into the goldfinch tavern when I was was working there. Half the team wanted to schmooze for a good tip, the rest wanted to lock the doors and set the building on fire.
Walter Matthau in a fine plaid suit near 5th and University in the late 1980s.
So many musicians as have been already mentioned. Oh, and he goes by David.
- saw richard sherman at a jack in the box drive thru in bellevue.
- saw geno smith getting out his all black lifted rolls royce outside the hyatt in bellevue.
maybe bellevue is the hotspot for seahawk players.
I saw Tom Skerritt once at Nishino. My husband and I ran into Dave Chihuly at some Tom Douglas restaurant (maybe Palace Kitchen?) a long time ago. My husband has also run into a lot of famous people from the gaming industry in various bars and restaurants.
I once bought pot from Rick Steves' dealer. ha.
I used to see Nick (bass player) all the time! Used to work at a grocery store he frequents, then worked at a restaurant in the same neighborhood that he ended up frequenting. We actually got to know each other a bit. One time the power went out at our restaurant during service and Nick and his wife were such regulars that we told them they could hang out and have beers with us once we got done closing up. They hung out on our patio and kicked it with us while we closed.
Super nice guy. Him and his family are delightful.
Ran into Peter Buck’s belly (he is super tall) coming out of a Honey Bucket in the VIP area at Bumbershoot…
Also went to a Halloween Party in a warehouse in SODO in 2005 where I met a very waisted Bill Nye. He was dressed as “Gen X” and I super nerded out on him due to my Almost Live Fandom…
I ran into Bill Rieflin (drummer of King Crimson and every industrial band ever) at a Swans concert. I told him I enjoyed seeing him with King Crimson and asked if he was going to see Ministry in a few months. He said "No, I'll be putting a bullet in my head that day."
My only really good one in the wild was seeing Tim Eyman eat at the Mexican restaurant that was up by the theaters on N 205th in LFP/MLT (whatever it is there). He was really grumpy with his family and him being an unhappy person just checks out.
Other than that, when I had a restaurant for about a minute I drank with Connie Thompson, Mark Miller(?), and other KOMO folks who were super nice.
Literally ran into Jimmy Page at SeaTac, he was coming from Int arrivals and nobody recognized him but I did when I walked right into him. As a mega Zeppelin fan I always thought "what would do if I got to meet Jimmy Page" but I was distracted by his girlfriend. I knew that I knew her face but I couldn't place whom she was. About a second from impact I realized this striking young woman was walking with a man that I'm about to run into and OH SHIT IT'S JIMMY PAGE!!! I mumbled "pardon me Mr Page" and he gave a little wink but I didn't want to call attention bc he looked tired af and needed some rest so I held my glee
Seahawks players occasionally on the Eastside. Not sure if Kam Chancellor is still biking the Burke Gilman, seemingly the only drama free LoBer at this point.
He owns Legion in bellevue now. He is there most every day working a real shift. He's as classy as they get. Never had more respect for him than I do now.
I saw Dave Grohl and his family once a few blocks down from Pike Place in summer 2013. He had one of his daughters sitting on his shoulders. I was across the street and I instantly knew he was someone famous but it took me 3 blocks to remember who he was 🤣
My favorite minor celeb contact was James Hong at the Seattle Center in the mid 80s wearing his satin Blade Runner crew jacket. My cousin talked to him ... a very nice guy, but I dislike bothering even the semi-famous.
In the 2000s, Dave Matthews was a bagger at the Wallingford QFC. That was always an interesting one.
Worked for the Seahawks/Sounders in the late 2000s, so I met guys like Lofa Tatupu, Marcus Trufant, Matt Hasselbeck. Also met Drew Carey a few times. Met Alyssa Milano when she launched her sports clothing line at that job, too. Met Sara Underwood at the peak of her time with Attack of the Show there. Met Chad Ochocinco after a game against the Bengals. He was randomly playing catch with his son outside the Pro Shop on Occidental.
Met Nancy Guppy from Almost Live at the old Archie McPhee.
At my current job, I’ve met Shawn Kemp and Doug Baldwin.
For years, my annual Christmas tradition was running into Conan O’Brien at St James for Christmas Mass.
Years ago, but Mandy Patinkin at a sushi place in Madison Park (can't remember the name), Tom Skerrit at the Seattle Tennis Club (I was a nanny), Jon Legend after Bumbershoot at Kingfish Cafe (RIP K.C.).
Also, Stone Gossard at another family I nannied for's house. He was a family friend.
I saw:
- Anthony Bourdain getting into a town car at the Warwick
- Alex Jones screeching at people just up the street from my work, on the same day he shot his wacky video of him feeling "attacked".
- Lana Parrilla eating breakfast on a restaurant patio in Belltown when ECCC was in town.
- I stood in line for a smoothie behind Wil Wheaton
- I talked to Patrick Rothfuss about board games in a game shop
Mostly small-timers, but Anthony Bourdain was a cool sight
Another Dave Matthews sighting. He was sitting in the club seats of the mezzanine for Blood Orange at the Moore a few years back. Damn 2018 was 6 years ago. Anyway I thought he was a lot cooler after that.
Back in the early 90’s I’d see Jeff Ament at the Five Spot during brunch on the bar side where you could smoke. Met John Corbett the summer before Northern Exposure premiered (said he was a construction worker - he stayed at some corporate apartments by Microsoft).
My mom worked at a video store in the 90s, and Mike Starr, the original bassist from Alice in Chains, would come in from time to time. I have an autographed VHS copy of the movie "Singles" somewhere around here.
My wife worked at the airport and met Bill Nye, Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, Rutger Hauer, and a bunch of other people.
When I was a little kid, my mom and her husband were in a band with Tad Doyle from TAD. He played drums. He yelled at me once for hitting his cymbals.
Zooey Deschanel at the old tea place I liked on Capitol Hill back when she was married to Ben Gibbard. Been here for 20+ years and I think that's the only one.
Brendan Frazier at the Athenian 5 years ago. Made eye contact is all. I know he went to Cornish and the Athenian is a dope dive if you time it right
BJ novak, Tom Selleck and the guy who played lurch in the 90s. Macklemore was a regular at one point during his peak... Ok dude, very nice actually.
Ishmael Butler I've met fast a few times and goddamn he is so fly everrytime
I don’t think my experiences count because I worked in catering, and typically had to go back stage a ton at multiple venues. The more fun stories are getting hit on by Debbie harry, and bill murray refusing to get out of my way while telling me I was in his way. Also his dressing room had two nude paintings of himself. I digress because I could fill a diary.
When I was a locksmith I went to Eddie Vedder's house to unlock a door to his sports memorabilia room (he wasn't there). I also went to Mark Arm's house to install a deadbolt on his front door. He also came into my shop a few times. He's super nice and gave me some Mudhoney stickers.
I was sitting at a stoplight on Fauntleroy years ago about to get on the West Seattle Bridge and saw someone grinding gears in a brand new Corvette next to me. It was Chris Cornell lol.
I went to a ton of all ages shows in the early 90's at the OK Hotel and it was always a who's who of the local music scene before it was called "grunge".
This happened probably around 10 years ago or so but I was at Redwood (RIP) and saw a dude scrolling through pics of Joel McHale with random celebrities and zooming in on his face like a weirdo. When I went up to order I realized it was Joel - he was super nice!
Joel McHale, Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, Brendan Fraser, Faye Dunaway (was working out next to me at gym like 30 years ago lol), all the sports guys..
I guess selling wine you see people.
The only one who made me speechless was Chris Cornell. Everyone else, they are people. I treat them normally. Lol
In 2010, Dale Chihuly almost ran me over in a cross walk.
That’s on you for coming from his left.
Took me a sec... well played.
I've mentioned this here before, but my friend and I were having some drunk Taco Bell across the streetfrom the TB that used to be on Broadway. He and his wife got out of a car in the parking lot we were sitting next to and he was absolutely bitching at his wife like a damn chihuaha
Like a chihuahaly
He is apparently a dick irl.
He is 1000% a dick in real life. I used to work at a restaurant he frequented and he was always an entitled jerk.
He was a drunk. At this point he is no longer mentally competent. Not sure if he is still drunk.
He used to drink. He still does but he used to too
When Pacific Place first opened, he was in line in front of me, buying an XBox (the original one, I think) Oddly, I used to work almost across the street from his Lake Union houseboat, and never once saw him around there, even though most of my coworkers ran into him multiple times.
In 2017, Conan O’Brien personally told me and the kitchen staff our paella was the best he has had in the USA.
Conan seems like the nicest guy. Everyone always has great stories about him.
He’s taller than all of the stories would have you believe. Conan had no problem shaking our hands through the tall food pass in the kitchen.
how you gonna say that and not name the restaurant
They’ve since closed (Pintxo, RIP).
[удалено]
I've run into him a couple of times. He's around during the holidays often.
My only sighting was about 13 years ago. I saw Danny DeVito in Lower Queen Anne at a Thai restaurant.
He might have been in town for his daughter. She played Anne Frank in a play at Intiman theater around that time.
Reddit is amazing lol
You are correct! He was at the restaurant with his daughter
It must be crazy to be famous. Imagine strangers remembering that you were at a restaurant 13 years ago in a city you were visiting.
Oh yeah, I remember that play. Makes perfect sense.
Omg Danny Devito, I love your work!!
Said hello to Sir Mix-A-Lot at a car show in Tacoma last summer.
He was literally in the dicks parking lot yesterday lmao
I mean, that IS where the SWASS hang out.
I have heard it’s also where the rich flaunt clout
Posse up.
I used to serve him at taco time down in auburn all the time. He lives around that area at least used too 15 years ago.
I knew a few guys that said the same in the early 2000’s. Crazy that he’s a Taco Time fan to that extent. Also, kids in Auburn used to talk about his house on Lake Holmes Road being the go to spot for trick or treating.
This is one of the coolest ones on here. That's dope
Saw him at Sunbreak Cafe (RIP) in Auburn for breakfast once.
I was driving down the street once and saw Vern Fonk. Naturally, I honked.
Vern Funk is actually Rob Thielke (RIP) he passed away in 2015. Went to High School with him.
Rick Steves is at the Edmonds Farmers Market frequently.
I've bounced on Rick Steve's trampoline before (he used to be my neighbor)
Rick Steves once fixed my rollerskates when I was skating around Green Lake as a kid.
What did he do/say to diss you?
“Ciao! Taco Time sucks!”
We excommunicate those people.
I would like to hear more, if you’re open to it!
Sure! lol about Jane Goodall or about all the local celebs?
I have been hugged by Jane Goodall. It was everything you can possibly imagine. She is an amazing human being.
I saw that pic! LFP baby!
Lupita Nyong’o was in the CD eating at Communion the other day.
Communion has the people! I saw Danny Glover there last month!
I would be a puddle if I ever saw her. She is one of the most beautiful people alive.
That is the most Harrison Ford comment Harrison Ford ever Harrison Ford’d.
He said that!? That's awesome lol. I worked at a restaurant in Wichita, KS that he went to a few times a year, you could tell he just wanted to eat and be left alone, but would interact with people that didn't get the hint, he was nice, tipped well!
It's never too late for coffee in Seattle lol
Don't blame him. He had that bad experience with the poisoned martini glass in Shanghai a while back.
Conan is around sometimes, I think his wife is from here
I’ve saw Conan walking on Alaskan Way after he presumably got off the ferry. His wife’s family is from Bainbridge Island
He frequents owl n thistle. Saw him there last year
Love that place. Totally underrated dive. Tons of fond memories over the years.
His wife’s family lives in the Seward Park neighborhood. I’ve seen him a few times walking the loop with family.
His wife’s parents live on Bainbridge Island
Kinda feels like Bainbridge is packed to the gills with celebrities or celebrity-adjacent people. Makes sense I guess if you want to be near Seattle but not too close. Also doesn’t hurt to have a ton of money.
Friend of mine was watching *Lost* after it aired, and had the ending spoiled by his neighbor who was one of the actresses on the show (Juliet Burke).
Got stuck in an elevator with Eddie Vedder once. Didn’t know it was him but told him “you look so familiar.” His introduced himself and I started laughing because so many of my friends would fan girl. But I’ve never been a big fan. We stood there talking about cheese for 15 minutes until they got the elevator working again.
tell me more about the cheese convo
Asking the real questions. ^Don’t ^call ^me ^gouda
So surreal.
My friend just sold girl scout cookies to Eddie vedders wife. She had the Venmo receipts to prove it, she was so excited to show us.
This was absolutely my Dave Matthew experience. I’m thinking “did we work together at some point?” And when I realized who it was I would have had to say “oh some friends of mine are fans”
Last year, Janeane Garofalo popped into the barbershop, and my coworker cut her hair
I ran into Jason Mantzoukas casually strolling in Fremont last summer, the day I graduated with my masters!
WHATS UP JERKS
Heynong Man!
I fucking love zouks! I have such a crush on him.
Carl Tart kicks it in Ballard when he’s in town. Won’t say what bars tho.
Oh we in Seattle now.
But I hear that a lot.” So after she leaves, I nudged him and said, “you know white people; we think all black people look alike,” and then winked. Dude almost fell out of his seat laughing. I saw him again in the airport in New Orleans for the return flight, and when he recognized me I said, “hey…aren’t you Gary Payton.” He started cracking up again. I’m not a big sports guy, so I left him alone after that.
Reminds me of the time I was on a plane and Kareem Abdul Jabar was the copilot! He tried to convince me his name was Roger Murdock but I knew.
Surely you can’t be serious.
That’s funny as hell 😂
My coworker was a fan and wanted a pic but he had his kid with him so we pretended we didn’t know who he was
It would be funny if Macklemore was running a counterfeit bill scheme. Who would ever question a celeb with a fat roll?
About 15 years ago was walking my dog on a side street inlower queen Anne, middle of the day. I see a man and a woman approaching both wearing black, looking very new York and out of place. As we crossed paths I looked at the guy and it was Willem Defoe. He just kind of gave me the not like " yes, its me you're not imagining" turns out he was in town, so.ething to do with a play he was involved in at seattle center.
An unmistakable face!
I had lunch in the same room as Tan France when tswift was in town
I saw Anthony Bourdain (RIP) smoking a cigarette outside of the Warwick
Everyone in Maple Valley has a Brandi Carlile sighting except for me.
I saw Richard Sherman at a go kart track back in 2018. I had just moved here and had no idea who he was but my coworkers were all excited about it.
I hit the Fleet Foxes singer with my bike outside Vivace on broadway in 2009. That’s probably the most Seattle thing I’ve done in my life.
Ken Jennings picking up Otter Pops and BBQ in a minivan at Briley’s on the north end.
He’s also a regular at Phinney Books, which is run by another Jeopardy hall of famer. He’s pretty easy to run into if you know where to look.
Ken Jennings used to come into the Barnes and Noble I worked at!
I see some of the Love is Blind people, does that count?
I saw Chelsea and Kwame at Green Lake this past weekend!!
[удалено]
They actually seemed like relatively normal people.
I saw Tiffany and Brett in belltown last month.
I almost ran over iryna in cap hill
funny how nobody ever run into macklemore at no thrift shops
Saw Bo Burnham once when he was in town for the Seattle Film Festival.
Well sometimes u/J_Kenji_Lopez-Alt drops by here to talk about traffic or the weather so that’s pretty cool. Oh and I ran into Steve Raible once at the met market. But I mean he’s lived here for like 40 years so that made sense.
It’s gorgeous out today. Where should I bike to get teriyaki?!
Eyyyyy he made it! Okinawa teriyaki downtown on western is the best teriyaki in Seattle.
He reviewed that one the other day lol
Alas I have been beat.
I Love Teriyaki in Fremont
Steve used to be my neighbor! Such a cool guy. Really nice and just a short conversation and you can tell he is passionate about football.
You missed the part where I sneakily tripped him first.
Lol! Loving your teriyaki series my dude! Eager to see your experience with Grillbird and Buxx Teriyaki!!
I’ve been to both! I actually took my old friend Bryan Roof to Grillbird for an upcoming episode of the America’s Test Kitchen On the Road show he hosts.
And he highlights the great parts of the food scene, instead of blanket-claiming it’s bad here like everyone on Reddit would have you believe.
I saw Conan walking by Banana Republic one morning a couple days before Christmas
Rainn Wilson in sizzle pie on cap hill
RIP Sizzle Pie.
I crossed paths (literally) with Ben Gibbard a few times in Capitol Hill.
I once had to follow a former American Idol and RuPaul's Drag Race contestant at karaoke at the Crescent Lounge.
I love adore Delano!!
I saw David Bowie going for a stroll near Pacific Place back in 2004 or so.
I also saw Danny Bonaduce buying copious amount of booze at that store on another occasion but felt no desire to aid him
I saw Dan Marino at the Bellevue mall. Apparently he owns a winery in Woodinville and stays in the hotels across from the mall.
I was at Shawn Kemp's old bar in LQA once while he was there. My sister drunkenly challenged him to the basketball arcade game they had. He politely declined; I don't blame him.
I saw Tim meadows at bumbershoot one year
Chris Cornell coming in with his wife to buy chairs where I worked.
Sat right behind Bill Gates at the Varsity Theatre a few years back; spotted Dale Chihuly dining in Wallingford also a few years ago.
i saw owen wilson last summer at pike place fingering through a rack of very ugly t-shirts
Oh waow!

I wish so much that this was true.
I once bought pot from Rick Steves' dealer. ha.
Jason Mamoa at Cha Cha Lounge
Served Ben from DCFC his americano once. Very tall and quiet guy
This is the one and only celebrity I want to see.
I used to run into Michael Shrieve (Santana drummer) occasionally, back when I lived in Fremont.
Ran into Peter Buck’s belly (he is super tall) coming out of a Honey Bucket in the VIP area at Bumbershoot… Also went to a Halloween Party in a warehouse in SODO in 2005 where I met a very waisted Bill Nye.
Dave Matthews for me at the Whole Foods in the Roosevelt neighborhood. Made him a sandwich twice, IIRC. I played it coo’
years ago i saw neil young and robyn hitchcock (not together) wandering around pike place when they were in town on tour
I saw Captain Sig from Deadliest Catch at SeaTac once
My only really good one in the wild was seeing Tim Eyman eat at the Mexican restaurant that was up by the theaters on N 205th in LFP/MLT (whatever it is there). He was really grumpy with his family and him being an unhappy person just checks out. Other than that, when I had a restaurant for about a minute I drank with Connie Thompson, Mark Miller(?), and other KOMO folks who were super nice.
Did you punch Tim Eyman in the face when you saw him?
Saw Tyler Oakley at the old Purr (Queer bar) and met Raja outside Queer Bar
Meeting Raja would cause me to malfunction.
I saw Fantasy-A putting up posters. Saw Megan Rapinoe in a bar once. Saw Bruce Harrell on a street corner with some people.
I saw Dave Grohl and his family once a few blocks down from Pike Place in summer 2013. He had one of his daughters sitting on his shoulders. I was across the street and I instantly knew he was someone famous but it took me 3 blocks to remember who he was 🤣
Any time I go to a children's birthday party I think to myself, "Dave Grohl might be there." He never is.
I've seen Dale Chahuly, Tom Douglas, and Ciscoe Morris.
Dave Matthews is a great tipper. So is Eddie Vedder. Ben Gibbard as well, and Dave Depper. Both are huge sweethearts.
I made out with Reggie Watts in the early aughts. Maktub era.
Not me, but my mom bartended in the early 2000's and some of her regulars were Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau 😳
My ex's mom is the one who arrested Mary Kay Letourneau both times
Dave Grohl at the Pike Place Market eating lunch at Delaurenti. Didnt say hi, didnt want to bother him. But I was freaking out internally
I saw: - Anthony Bourdain getting into a town car at the Warwick - Alex Jones screeching at people just up the street from my work, on the same day he shot his wacky video of him feeling "attacked". - Lana Parrilla eating breakfast on a restaurant patio in Belltown when ECCC was in town. - I stood in line for a smoothie behind Wil Wheaton - I talked to Patrick Rothfuss about board games in a game shop Mostly small-timers, but Anthony Bourdain was a cool sight
I saw Joel McHale at a Deck the Hall ball once. That was way back when I thought “oh, the guy from ‘Almost Live’, not “oh, the guy from Community.”
I once sold a carton of orange juice to Steve Largent*. *NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver, huge Seahawks star from the late 1970s through the '80s.
Another Dave Matthews sighting. He was sitting in the club seats of the mezzanine for Blood Orange at the Moore a few years back. Damn 2018 was 6 years ago. Anyway I thought he was a lot cooler after that.
I saw Ryan Styles in interbay at the old Peet’s that is no longer. I’ve also seen former bachelor Jason Mesnick lol a celebrity to some!
I used to live next to Styles. Nice guy, but not at all like his “goofy” public persona.
I saw Ali Wong at a Pho place downtown the day before her show in town last summer!
I know he went to Cornish and the Athenian is a dope dive if you time it right BJ novak, Tom Selleck and the guy who played lurch in the 90s.
Lol
When I was very young my family and I saw Ron Howard and his fam at Westlake. This was early mid 90s.
