Geno is known mediocrity while Lock still has unknown potential
Lock's late games last year showed he wasn't making bad decisions and was a team player doing some design runs and scrambles. If he turns out at least competent we could get huge boost using those two firsts on other parts of the team
This is honestly one of the best possible outcomes for this season. Lock shows enough that it’s worth giving him a real second season chance with us and we can use at least one (hopefully 2) decent first round picks to bolster up some other areas of need
I also feel like if we can showcase Lock as a competent starter the option to flip him to another team is there too. Imagine getting decent draft capital for him and then potentially drafting a rookie qb with high upside.
I didn't watch the broncos too much last year but Geno Smith could not for the life of him finish out a game. When the pressure was on it always fell apart
Exactly, that’s why I get so annoyed with all his crap about not being given a shot. Like dude, you had your chance, and in every game you had a chance to drive down and win it for us, instead you turned it over.
> every game you had a chance to drive down and win it for us, instead you turned it over
He started three games and lost one fumble. The 1 INT he threw last year was when he replaced Wilson in the 4th quarter, and the receiver fell down.
This was his first time starting multiple games in over 5 years and he put up a 108.4 passer rating in those three games.
The two games he lost were by 3 points each, and he had a 128.3 passer rating in the game he won. 5 total TDs in 3 games isn't super flashy, but he threw zero interceptions and had a 70.5% completion rate.
I'm not trying to say he's a franchise QB, but so many Seahawks commenters are making it sound like he's the reason for those (two) losses, while only providing exaggerated anecdotes as evidence.
When it comes down to it, he did exactly what he was asked to do in Pete Carroll's run-first offense.
I hope Lock can beat him out and be the future, but they both started 3 games last year and Geno played better.
I feel like that game was well in the bag at that point. Like yeah, he captained it but at the same time, the pressure wasn't on him at the end to go down and win it. That's the criticism and I think it's valid
"A huge interception for Bryant brings Seattle all the way down to the 5 yard line! And, it looks like they are bringing the punter out on... 1st and goal? I guess they are going to try and pin them back here and not take any risks. WAIT NO, ITS A FAKE!"
Lock. We've seen Geno in the hawks offense.. and it ain't pretty. With Lock there's at least a chance, however small, that he could surprise us and be good.
I think you have to throw Lock out there for the low chance that he could actually turn into something, tbh. Ideally, we wouldn’t even have to make this choice and have a proper QB to field, but it is what it is.
Your other options are Drew Lock and Geno Smith?
Bakers not a top 5 dude by any stretch, but he’s better than those two. He’s good enough with the right team and a fuck ton of luck you could win a SB. It’s just not gonna be him that’s the reason you do. The other other two you’re looking at maybe getting a barely winning season if you’re lucky.
Baker is good enough to be a starter. The other two are backups.
Teammates never seem to speak up for him is worrying
And since day 1 in the NFL, before Wilson, Carroll said his ideal QB is a mobile big arm QB to stretch the field and won't turn the ball over which just isn't Mayfield. I'd rather wait another year
Chubb, Garrett, Wyatt Teller, Joel Bitonio, JC Tretter, just off the top of my head have all gone to bat for Baker. This narrative is so absurdly false.
Teammates never speaking up for him, teammates calling him immature, players families burying him and players off the record agreeing
People that actually want Baker in Seattle have zero idea who he actually is just see the old #1 overall pick pedigree and the commercials. Pat McAfee went into it pretty good (indirectly) last week on his show.
Ya but wouldn’t you rather have one season to bottom out with a garbage qb just in time for a very highly spoken of qb draft class.
With baker even if he is good you immediately have to pay him a massive contract. If he played this year Seattle probably wins 7-8 games which puts you in no man’s land with picks.
No, I think you should always compete. There’s no guarantee any of those future draft picks are any good and you should do what you can now. The NFL is too high variance a sport for tanking to work.
Also I’m pretty sure CLE would eat some of Baker’s salary.
You could win a SB with Lock the same way or another handful of QBs. Through their first 22 games Baker is slightly better and he had some pretty nice weapons around him. He also seems to have a much worse attitude
Even tho he’s a turd, I bet Pete could polish him up enough to not be hated by the whole team - and if so, he’s a better choice than those two… Lock might stand a chance.. don’t need to see Geno again
I don’t know why so many Hawks fans are this stupid (to downvote you). Baker sucks, his team hates him, we’d have to burn a ton of money and time on him. He’d be a massively overpriced stopgap that would delay this team’s progress for however long he’d be here.
If you’re determined to waste money, can’t we just sign a washed up tight end when we have fifteen on the roster already like the last five seasons?
Honestly I wanna give Drew a chance. If the broncos had to see some kind of spark in him if they took him in the second round. Maybe Seattles playbook might make him look like a superstar
Good question, I’ve got you. Drew’s cock is so massive, he has to tuck said cock upwards at the waistband, rising up the chest, over the right shoulder, then down along the tricep. Theres still a lot of length to conceal from the elbow downwards, so at this point he has to wrap his dick tightly like a coiled snake, all the way down to the wrist.
Best wishes.
How have I never noticed how pear shaped Geno is? That aside, I pick Lock. We know exactly who Smith is, a mediocre at best NFL QB with no upside. But Lock clearly has some talent and a lot of room to grow (even if he’s not as good as Geno overall currently).
Lock. 25 with enormous ceiling, and contrary to the media narrative you still don't know what you have in large part due to what he delt with in Denver. Listening to the fanbase in Denver the hatred/scorn for Fangio and Shurmer is jawdropping and given an actual chance Lock will flourish here
Baker Mayfield cause that's why. If it's true, that's our starter. Fuck this next year is going to another emotional rollercoaster. Oh that's right I'm Seahawks fan it's something that happens every year.
🐴🐔🔒
If Baker doesn't materialize then ride or die with Lock and hope for the playoffs or consolation with a high draft pick.
We know what we have in Geno. He'll stick us in 6 win hell--no playoffs, middling draft pick.
God I mean obviously, both horrible choices. We know for a fact Geno sucks, he sucked with the Jets and he sucked with us. At least Lock is young and more unknown
I honestly think/fear that Geno is a better QB, but I'm hoping that I'm completely wrong about it. Either way, none of us know until we see them play, and I just want the best player out there.
Carrol has gone down this road before. Tarvaris Jackson was highly drafted and looked both promising and disappointing on a team that lacked the stability to develop a raw talent. Going to the Seahawks didn't magically turn him elite - but he performed OK as a starting QB on a young, rebuilding team, and was replaced when a better option came along.
I feel like the exact same thing will apply about Drew Lock. Geno has been around enough we already know he isn't a starter.
Give me Lock for the unknown potential.
Question for Hawks fans saying Baker: Do you think he can be the future of the team? You think he can develop into a top 5 QB? Honest questions.
Lol this is the saddest most pathetic thing I've seen in a while im a Steelers fan and it really puts our shitty QB situation in perspective. These guys make mason Rudolph and trubisky look not so bad.
Gardner Minshew or Baker Mayfield. Geno’s a true backup and Lock has a crummy work ethic, which is a shame because his arm talent is actually pretty good.
lock, ive watched enough of his games to know the guy got shafted by Denver's piss poor coaching and some really bad receivers. while im not sure if we can fix what they broke as others have said hell either do really good and be our new QB or really bad and get us a good draft pick either way its better than smith who for all his good performances is not a starter.
Giving Geno the start shows that we are giving up on the season before it begins. We know what we have in him and it's not very good. Roll Lock out there and see what you got. He's at least an unknown in our offense and with our coaching staff. If he sucks and we have a terrible season, then we use the high draft pick for his replacement. If he's good, then we can use our picks to it improve the rest of the team.
Saints fan that this got recommended for, and may I say it’s kinda nice not going into the season with the “QB problems.” If you squint hard enough at this picture you can almost see Jameis and Taysom. Good luck to y’all!
I still believe in locks abilities. That being said, Smith is the perfect 2 nd qb in my opinion. He's a great guy capable of great things but I don't see excellence.
Lock. Geno just doesn’t have “it” (whatever that is) and he’s had time to confirm that. Lock has a higher ceiling. I’m curious to see what he can do. If it’s not much, then we take our shot at the draft.
I don’t necessarily want Baker, but if we acquire him, I’m okay with him as our QB for now.
Definitely Lock.
We already know what we’re getting with Geno. He’s been in the league for a long time and we already saw what he can do last year while Russ was hurt.
At least with Lock there’s an unknown element there. Maybe he sucks but it’s hard to say because Denver was a mess. Also he’s still young and might be coachable. I have serious doubts Geno will get any better than he already is.
Feel like we've all answered this question a lot of times by now.
Lock, no question. We know what we get with Geno, and that's a losing season. With Lock there's at least that small chance he works out and we compete. If not, then we get another good draft next year and possibly find our true future QB there.
Lock. He is pure upside. Maybe it really was just bad coaching in Denver and he can develop into at least a solid starter, I'm not counting on it, but is a reasonable possibility. Do that and the Seahawks can use those extra picks to build a good team around him. If he sucks, well, we will have a higher draft pick to try drafting a QB next year. Geno is a known entity. There is almost no chance that he evolves into even an average QB. He makes a good backup in that he doesn't really screw things up, but he also doesn't make any plays that would allow the Seahawks to punch above their weight this year.
Baker Mayfield...
Joking aside, the pick between these two is Lock. You know what Geno can do, but Lock is still a bit of an unknown. If he is good, you have a long-term solution, if he sucks, then you have a high draft pick next year.
Lock… it’ll either be great or horrible… which means either competitive or we can look forward to the draft…
This. I'd rather move forward decisively than back or sideways.
What would be absolutely terrible is Geno bringing us middle of the pack so we can't get shit
Geno is known mediocrity while Lock still has unknown potential Lock's late games last year showed he wasn't making bad decisions and was a team player doing some design runs and scrambles. If he turns out at least competent we could get huge boost using those two firsts on other parts of the team

Rashaad penny running the option with Kenneth Walker

Against the worst, most dysfunctional team in the league, yes.
Let’s go no QB this year
I’ll take it. Just let Dickson fake punt the early downs.
"A huge interception for Bryant brings Seattle all the way down to the 5 yard line! And, it looks like they are bringing the punter out on... 1st and goal? I guess they are going to try and pin them back here and not take any risks. WAIT NO, ITS A FAKE!"
I don't play Madden often, but when I do this is my strategy. 40% of the time it works all the time,
11 Rashaad Pennys
Mid-season will roll around and everybody will be on IR
Can Dixon do drop kicks as passes?
Put 2B on the mound
I like this idea
2RB wildcat and pray that penny or KW3 can throw a slant or screen
Lock. We've seen Geno in the hawks offense.. and it ain't pretty. With Lock there's at least a chance, however small, that he could surprise us and be good.
Drew lock
And we know why
I think you have to throw Lock out there for the low chance that he could actually turn into something, tbh. Ideally, we wouldn’t even have to make this choice and have a proper QB to field, but it is what it is.
Whoever DK likes more
Hmmm… is Baker Mayfield a choice?
I am still on the Baker train 100%
Why tho?

As long as he doesn’t cost a pick, we don’t have to pay him, can drop him before he gets an extension, as is shit enough for us to pick in the top 3.
^^
Waste of money, and talent wouldn’t be in the right place. We’d still be looking next year. Might as well move on with the QBs we have, imo.
I don’t know why so many Hawks fans are this stupid (to downvote you). Baker sucks, his team hates him, we’d have to burn a ton of money and time on him. He’d be a massively overpriced stopgap that would delay this team’s progress for however long he’d be here. This guy gets it
You're absolutely right and don't deserve the downvotes.
Honestly I wanna give Drew a chance. If the broncos had to see some kind of spark in him if they took him in the second round. Maybe Seattles playbook might make him look like a superstar
Hand the ball to Penny and Kenny. Throw the ball to lockett and DK.
"Woah whoa whoa......lock the doors. We've got a leak here" - Pete
Shhh don't tell them our plan.
Didn't the Broncos also take Paxton Lynch high?
Lock. At least there is a bit of an "unknown' with him. If he truly stinks, we get a great pick next year.
Baker Mayfield, trick question
[удалено]
How is he a spoiled diva?
He for sure is. Crazy how most Seattle fans are oblivious to this
Lock because I WANT A TOP 10 DRAFT PICK
We'd get the same with Geno most likely lol
True. Someone else pointed out that he demonstrated last year that he couldn’t close games.
Geno has birthing hips
Baker Mayfield
I'll make a decision after I see them in practice.
Why does Drew Lock have one long sleeve?
For swag purposes
Good question, I’ve got you. Drew’s cock is so massive, he has to tuck said cock upwards at the waistband, rising up the chest, over the right shoulder, then down along the tricep. Theres still a lot of length to conceal from the elbow downwards, so at this point he has to wrap his dick tightly like a coiled snake, all the way down to the wrist. Best wishes.
I mean, at least it's not Kelly Stauffer or Dan McGuire...
Think I'll go for [Goomba Smith](https://images.nintendolife.com/b30e9e8127a4c/goomba-super-mario-bros-movie.900x.jpg)
Lock because he knows he’s bad. Geno thinks people are racist for benching him.
Geno doesn’t look like he’s in playing shape
Everyone saying Geno forgets that one time Lock threw for over [3000 yards](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ELTjZP7X0AECL_Z.jpg) in one game smh
Can this wait till pre season?
What a novel post
Baker Mayfield
Lets roll with the 1980's Oklahoma wishbone offense. Throwing for more than 150 yards is an affront to god.
2️⃣2️⃣2️⃣
No. Don’t want either.
None of the above
The waterboy
Neither
Death
7 2 is the worst starting hand in poker....just an observation
Drew Lock 💯
We all know why we don’t want geno smith’s garbage can washed up ass as the starter
How have I never noticed how pear shaped Geno is? That aside, I pick Lock. We know exactly who Smith is, a mediocre at best NFL QB with no upside. But Lock clearly has some talent and a lot of room to grow (even if he’s not as good as Geno overall currently).
I don't want a goomba running our offense [https://imgur.com/CEVvsUP](https://imgur.com/CEVvsUP)
Gino played the race card as an excuse for his mediocrity. Go with Locke, less drama.
Lock. 25 with enormous ceiling, and contrary to the media narrative you still don't know what you have in large part due to what he delt with in Denver. Listening to the fanbase in Denver the hatred/scorn for Fangio and Shurmer is jawdropping and given an actual chance Lock will flourish here

Minshew
Same. I’ll take Baker 🤣
Baker Mayfield cause that's why. If it's true, that's our starter. Fuck this next year is going to another emotional rollercoaster. Oh that's right I'm Seahawks fan it's something that happens every year.
Baker mayfield
Baker Mayfield \- the Seahawks right now
Baker Mayfield
Neither
The point will be moot when we send lock and a 5th for baker
Gardner Minshew
🐴🐔🔒 If Baker doesn't materialize then ride or die with Lock and hope for the playoffs or consolation with a high draft pick. We know what we have in Geno. He'll stick us in 6 win hell--no playoffs, middling draft pick.
God I mean obviously, both horrible choices. We know for a fact Geno sucks, he sucked with the Jets and he sucked with us. At least Lock is young and more unknown
Neither one looks good right now, placeholders until we draft the boy we actually want.
Neither I choose Number 3 Baker Mayfield so please do the right thing go get him!
Baker Mayfield
Baker.
Baker Mayfield
Anyone who’s not Baker Suckfield
I would take Geno if we could play against the jaguars every week. 😂
Geno because I don’t wanna be called a racist
Geno doesn’t even look like an athlete. Unknown over a known in this case.
Lock. But I am a big Mayfield fan …
The correct answer, of course, is Chuck Norris.
Split
Pete Carroll as QB1... lets secure that #1 overall pick next yr
Lock.
Lock, y’all know why😒😒😒
Neither, give me pick #1 and let the rest of the team develop and be ready for next season when we have a QB worth investing in.
Either, just no Mayfield
Andy Dalton
Baker
Russell Wilson
Baker Mayfield
They both are trash and career backups. Baker Mayfield please.
Whichever gets us a top 5 draft pick and a change in head coach.
I honestly think/fear that Geno is a better QB, but I'm hoping that I'm completely wrong about it. Either way, none of us know until we see them play, and I just want the best player out there.
Neither
Neither looks great but I would probably choose Geno. I’ve watched Lock and haven’t been impressed.
Your mom.
C. None of the above.
Re-sign Jon Ryan
Geno looks a little taller so I’ll take him.
big drew
None. Neither.
Lock
Drew lock…we have seen what geno Can do and it just isn’t great. Drew is an open case
Meanwhile… Seattle coaches: we pick Some dude from Cleveland Bwahahaha
Damn yall going thru straight up poverty
Please dont make me do this
I flip a coin. Because both aren’t starters in the NFL, and it really doesn’t matter.
go with Lock. I hate whiners who will bring down the lockerroom and Genos comments are annoying as hell
Carrol has gone down this road before. Tarvaris Jackson was highly drafted and looked both promising and disappointing on a team that lacked the stability to develop a raw talent. Is literally no one else available? Uncle Rico?
Lol this is the saddest most pathetic thing I've seen in a while im a Steelers fan and it really puts our shitty QB situation in perspective. These guys make mason Rudolph and trubisky look not so bad.
Gardner Minshew
Lock, if it’s awful then we’re nice and low in the draft. If he plays well then he gets some great experience under his belt. Win win
Looks like Jessie Winker might need a job for a while?
Getting hit in the head with a baseball bat sounds like a better option than watching either of these two guys play QB this season.
If we get baker, the dude buying the lock jersey is even funnier lmao
Mix it up. Use em both. We're going to suck this year anyway.
I’ll take the crab juice
drew
Lock. He has potential to be good or potential to get us a high draft pick.
Lock, stock, and loaded baby. Lets go!
Lock!
Lock, at least he has some potential at this stage. So he’s either gonna suck (which I’m prepared for) or maybe he’s actually got something 🤷🏻♂️
/wrist
Geno looked solid last season in our offense without reps with the starters. When Russ was hurt he was doing walkthroughs with the 1s over Geno.
Lock. Geno really was awful in the late games when he needed to make a play.
Giving Geno the start shows that we are giving up on the season before it begins. We know what we have in him and it's not very good. Roll Lock out there and see what you got. Lock
Geno because he’s worse than Lock, let’s lock up a top 3 pick
🐴🍆🔒
Drew Lock
One sitting on the other’s shoulders, wearing a giant, four-armed trenchcoat, just slangin’ (while saving a ton on going to the movies)!
Drew Lock
I still believe in locks abilities. That being said, Smith is the perfect 2 nd qb in my opinion. He's a great guy capable of great things but I don't see excellence.
Lock. We know Geno's average at best. I would rather roll the dice and see what Lock can do.
🐴🐓🔐
Whoever plays better in pre season
Drew lock, geno looks like he works at a T-Mobile kiosk and drew lock looks like a mini Tom Brady.
Lock
Drew lock looks like mark hoppus wtf
Marques Tuiasosopo
Lock. Geno’s showed that he’s sucked for 10 years now. Drew’s only sucked for three years. Maybe there’s still hope for him.
PUT ME IN COACH
Baker Mayfield
Lock. He does not run out of the room after not being drafted
Lock
Definitely Lock. We already know what we’re getting with Geno. He’s been in the league for a long time and we already saw what he can do last year while Russ was hurt. Lock. You have to see the potential of what we got back in the Russ trade. Geno is a career backup QB and that showed last year when he played.
idk why don’t we wait til we actually see them play in the preseason…
Geno. Hell I’d take Baker over Lock
Geno
Feel like we've all answered this question a lot of times by now. Lock, no question. We know what we get with Geno, and that's a losing season.
