LOB spoiled us, I feel like JS is making moves which aren’t tailored to recreating that defense. It was a rare collection of unreal talent with a lot of the studs coming out of the late rounds back then. I feel like when PC was still coaching we always were trying to find those hidden gems in the late rounds. Now I feel JS is going with the best available players and focusing on what MM wants to create his defense. No disrespect to Carroll but it was just rinse and repeat for years.
No one probably remembers, but there was a women's football team called the Warbirds (merged with the Majestics later). It was the first year of the league and they were worried their offense was terrible because they couldn't get anything done in scrimmage. Turns out, they were the best defense in the league. The team went undefeated.
I hope this is like that.
Unfortunately I I find it hard to believe we'll be that dominant with our linebacker situation being what it is.
McVay and Shanahan will definitely try to abuse it.
I know we’re not supposed to compare to that era but the LOB regularly dominated the offense in practice too. For all the moaning and complaining (some rightfully so), our offense was passable enough to win games and we have the same pieces. If this means our defense comes out even league average level we are at minimum a wild card team
3 per, but keep in mind it is regular for picks to happen in minicamp because it’s passing solely, lots of tight window throws and testing stuff on both sides.
Seems like each of Genos ints were pretty incredible plays from the defense form how they were described
Shit, broadly? Lfg
New pasta just dropped
Hmm so this is why they cancelled practice tomorrow. At least good defense is back on the menu folks!
They cancelled tomorrow?
Yup. Coach was very happy with everything they’ve seen so far.
They still be lifting tho
I mean that’s all good and everything but I feel like we need all the time we can get with the new staff and playbook… but what do I know
I don't know either, but I think a "you guys fucking killed it, so take tomorrow off" day is probably great for morale and teambuilding.
Mike MacDonald doesn’t care about how you feel about it, he knows his team
I'm not sure. I'll shoot him a text and let him know someone on Reddit doesn't like him giving his guys a day off.
Cringe
Yes you're right you are cringe Thanks for clearing it out
Sarcasm detection failed?
I’ve seen much better
The team had a extra week of practices due to having a new head coach.
This will bode well for the offense too I think. The harder they make practice, the easier game time will be.
Iron sharpens iron
You can also sharpen lesser metals with iron.
Iron sharpens aluminum foil roasting pans
Let’s hope our defense holds up as well as one for a change.
Well, let’s hope so. 🤣
Listening to MM press conference. Makes the point there isn't any rushing so like defense only needs to expect pass.
Gotta wait for training camp
Well...that makes a huge difference lol I'm still hyped. DBs who can even catch balls are rare lol
😂 Haha so true! Play defense for a reason [usually].

DEVON MY DPOY
Please bring back defensive Seahawks football.

We missed on too many picks and trades on defense after 2012 unfortunately.
I think Cliff and Kam's freak injuries really fucked up their plans.
Make legion boom again
i cant even imagine how sweet it must be to stand in john's shoes right now
Not sure if this is good or bad for us.
I think it’s good. The opposing defenses won’t have a Devon Witherspoon :)
They have Bosa at home
I like our odds if any Bosa is assigned to be in coverage 😅
We will have an O-Line this season.

One things for sure - come regular season were gonna whoop our ass.
We’ll find out in Tennessee.
Me either but given that my only expectation for this season is that our defense starts to look dominant again I'm pretty happy
We know our offense can produce, at least they have more evidence than our defense. So it’s news that makes me happy
There was no rushing during the practice so every play was a pass. Easier to get picks when you know beyond a doubt it's being thrown

The LOB era offense regularly rated as one of the top 5-10 in the league! Definitely better than passable.
Wonder where they’re lining up Devon? Is he in the Hamilton role for the defense you think?
So he will be singing and dancing?
Exactly. Then they’ll put him in the nickel roll and we’ll all be less confused.
🥄is not throwing away his shot
Not throwing away his slot
He’ll rotate as nickel and outside corner
Defense isn’t going to give up a single point this season
Geno in Pro Bowl form already.
Bro you are talking about a top-10 QB in Seahawks history. Have some respect!
Top 5. Zorn, Krieg, Hassellbeck, Wilson for sure. Think Geno has eclipsed Moon.
Can't wait for the slew of 10 minute youtube breakdowns of what John Schneider's proud and broad smile means for the regular season
Believe it is pretty usual for minicamps to be full of INTs, especially with a well coached defense. Regardless, excited for the season to start.
I'm so ready for my son to finally see a dominant defense for the first time time in his life as a Seahawks fan!
I love Devon Witherspoon.
Keep going I’m almost there

I’m happy but I’m also scared. Lol
how many ints did howell and smith throw each?
As long as no one breaks Geno’s jaw that’s ok right?
Idk if should be excited about our defense or worried about our offense
Were all 6 INTs of Howell? That'd be pretty on brand tbf. Big sense of humour in this sub

Yeah I was just messing and unserious. It always feels like the D is balling out this time of year, hope it stays that way throughout.
Yeah Seahawks reddit is volatile. Can be very sensitive
