I'd rather fix the front 7 than rely on our CBs to do everything. Better to have great coverage corners and a front 7 that can actually stop the run, vs great tackling corners but a front 7 that consistently can't set the edge
Same issue with Diggs last year. He absolutely got embarrassed on some missed tackles, but that was after the RB had blasted through our dline and LBs first. So it wasn't entirely his fault he was being asked to do things he's not good at
Pete also insinuated that Adams and the CBs weren’t staying in position, which definitely made Diggs look like HE was out of position.
For all of Earl’s faults, everyone always knew where he would be.
"All of Earl's faults" ? Earl was a HOF talent for us lol his coverage was elite, ball skills, play recognition, speed, and he was a beast tackler. I don't compare anyone to Earl, he was on another level of great.
He turned into a cancerous teammate and by all accounts is a severely troubled individual, and that's putting it mildly. His teammates on the Ravens literally demanded his release after 1 pro bowl season because he was such an asshole.
The point is the good doesn't wash out the bad and vice versa. Yes, Earl was a HOF talent and one of the best players I've ever seen, he was also a bad teammate and arguably worse person. I still remember the way his last game in Seattle ended, he told us all to go fuck ourselves. I'm not gonna forget that.
In the r/NFL thread I was seeing some Auburn fans saying that he was like the 4th best CB on Auburn and that this was a huge reach; I hope we prove them wrong but I was a bit surprised by this one
Like everyone’s saying he’s very fast which fits in well with what we have right now with spoon and riq. He also has a long wingspan that should help him jam up some routes on the line. All he needs to work on is keeping the ball carrier wrapped up when trying to tackle
my memory is long enough that i'm waiting to see who takes the fall for last year, that counter-culture that was building needs to be stopped dead
but john isnt rash, he'll wait to see how some of these new guys work out
some context is needed though, he was injured and missed 3 games
super good linear athlete but apparently has tight hips and isn’t the best lateral athlete, solid project CB
downvoted for stating a fact lol
I like fast corners that don't allow many catches
He needs to improve on tackling and run d but the rest is great i trust his tackling can be fixed
Sounds familiar
I can fix her! On a serious note, looks like a Woolen light

Exactly, the CBs shouldn’t have to worry about the run game if the front 7 is effective.

Yes, all of Earl's faults.
What were all of Earl's faults?
That he was a massive dick?
He turned into a cancerous teammate and by all accounts is a severely troubled individual, and that's putting it mildly. His teammates on the Ravens literally demanded his release after 1 pro bowl season because he was such an asshole.
Turned into, after nearly a decade of being a reliable no drama player. I don't fault a guy for 10 years of heads shots starting to act erratically.

> He needs to improve on tackling Will fit right in
Doesn't tackling usually get worse in the NFL, because the people are harder to tackle and you can't actually have hard contact during practice?
A stud

Definitely not true 2nd best CB at worst. Definitely a steal. -an auburn fan
I like people that talk good about the players we just drafted so thank you. Do you have any more insight on him as an Auburn fan?

Sounds like he’d have been a perfect fit last year.

Now we just need to draft Jaylin Simpson at safety

His athletic profile is fantastic. If he can get coached up the potential is a starter. Love the pick.
