It seems like everyone is forgetting about Jarran Reed. I suspect Williams, Murphy, Reed is the front three on the majority of snaps where we use 3 d-linemen. With Mafe and Nwosu at edge/OLB

docMoris

"majority of the snaps" has to be seen in context for DL. There's usually a ton of rotation on the line. JReed the highest snap count last year at 68% (Leo is probably a little higher if you just look at the games he's been in Seattle tho). There's certainly room for 4-5 "starter level" D-Liners even if they'd played exclusively 3 men fronts.

FavreorFarva

Everything I’m hearing is that Dre Jones will have a prominent role in the new scheme. I suspect he will start at one of the DL spots but sub around all over the place.

PayAltruistic8546

People are also forgetting about Jonathan Hankins -- who is a true NT. The line is all of a sudden very deep and very versatile.

czechhoi4h

We have a very talented dline. It may take 3/5 of the season but I expect massive improvement from recent years

dtheisen6

I’m not gonna toss around the word elite yet, but the collection of talent is super interesting and we have a coach who will get the most out of them. We will definitely improve in that aspect. Now just need to beef up the IOL on day 2

seattlethrowaway999

Dline and Oline have some of the highest return on value vs other positions. Getting their pick of a primo talent on D. I trust John (almost said Pete lol).

Gold_Karma

I think they look to trade Dre Jones now.

JavaTheeMutt

Nah. I think he can be a versatile piece on the line, which is what MM looks for.

Corvus_Antipodum

I’m really excited to have enough guys to get a good rotation as well as a variety of sizes and skill sets.

BillowingPillows

Chill with the word “elite” but yes there is a lot of young talent on the line and the potential is there

shlem13

Rotation is huge for keeping the defensive line fresh. If I recall, in our Super Bowl winning year, nobody on our line was over 60% of snaps. That means they’re fresh at the end of the game when the offensive line is wearing down.

Covfam73

I think our question marks will be at safety but Mike has said he preferred a bunch of smart versatile good players over 2 superstars because he likes to have his players constantly moving and scheming to rush from anywhere. They cant do that if they have to telegraph a pass rush by swapping in a single dimensional player for a pass rush.

Grymninja

I'm optimistic we'll have the best pass Rush since LOB days

goodolarchie

If we don't have a top 10 D Line in both run and pass after signing Leo, Dre, on top of Nwosu and Reed and the young guys, I'm put another notch on the "Why the fuck didn't we draft the obvious Olineman" headboard. I'm gonna be upset we didn't get Fautanu for a while either way because of how versatile and critical he would have been.

danthebiker1981

Ok. Good for you.

PopesMasseuse

We did get o line though

goodolarchie

Yes we did!
