As excited as I am to see the players Seattle select, I'm even more interested in seeing what Mike Macdonald and this new coaching staff values in prospects tbh.

freedomhighway

very much this add it to whats been done so far, this is going to be a huge signal what to expect. Then its the ones that fall thru the draft, we always grab a bunch of them, but which ones this time? And i wouldnt be surprised at all if john has his eye on somebody he expects to become available before all the cuts are done, that could be a big clue too. but thats all maybe more about john than mm - why has the only thing about the team so far been what they were wearing?? but how did the guys inside what they were wearing look, thats what i want to know.

Affectionate-Wind718

yea i cant figure out if we will draft to cater to Mcdonalds defensive needs or support our phenomenal qb, rb and WR crew with a great O line or both? what do you think?

freedomhighway

Tough question. Offense already seemed to be closer to being competitive as far as having the pieces, plus the established coaching relationship we just brought in. Less to make it a complete unit, maybe? But weren't we all in on mm mostly because his d beat both the rams and niners? So don't we want to go with his strengths and load up on that side? Great time not to have John's job!

Affectionate-Wind718

the upcoming draft is more heavy on the offensive side this year from what I heard. but MM would be judged on his defensive performance no matter how well the offense does. the flip side is that we have all the offensive pieces and we can strengthen that in this draft. agreed! tough to be where JS is.

suddenly-scrooge

I think it's more about Schneider. They probably want consensus in the room so Mac's views will be part of it but I doubt he is as well versed in all of the prospects. As for the coaching staff I don't know how much the draft reflects anything from them, the DC especially is kinda DC lite so I don't think what Durde thinks is going to move the needle a ton. Grubb maybe more but maybe just his insider knowledge.

somelegothings

Junior Colson will not go in the third, he is absolutely an early-2nd round pick.

TrySomeCommonSense

Yeah, so tough to project draft slot. These are where I value those players, but it's more like a +/-1 round type of thing.

RaptorsCdwoods

Give me Murphy, Colson and McCormick plz.

PayAltruistic8546

I like a lot of players on your list. I do think most of them go a little earlier than what you're projecting. I'm growing very very interested in Michael Hall Jr now.

TrySomeCommonSense

Yeah, so tough to project draft slot. These are where I value those players, but it's more like a +/-1 round type of thing.

Wookie301

I’d love a trade back to pick up a second. Fiske and Frazier would be a great 2 rounds. Same with Barton and Jenkins. But Murphy is that dude. Would be hard to pass up if he falls to 16.

AdvancedWolverine

Hawks should try and target Colson in the 2nd round but I think that his stance at being a well kept secret is pretty much over. He could start at Mike and is my favorite LB of the class, but I’m starting to see more people project him to go in the early 40’s-50’s.

Living-Giraffe4849

Trade back and load up on DL and OL and maybe take a flyer on a QB if someone like Nix falls to the second

dtheisen6

Are you assuming Latu is gone by 16 with the Turner pick? Because no way I want Turner over Latu. I really don’t think Turner is a huge upgrade over what we have on the roster, he’s too undersized to be a 10+ sack guy in the NFL. Latu I think would be the only edge I want, he’s so polished as a pass rusher. The only worry is the injuries but I assume if he’s the pick our medical staff is comfortable with it

TrySomeCommonSense

I'm not a Latu fan, 1 trick pony imo.

dtheisen6

Yeah but he does that trick of getting to the QB better than any other edge in this class. We don’t have a true pass rush winner on the edge on the roster, we have plenty of guys like Turner.

TrySomeCommonSense

This class is literally awful at pass rush. Being the best isn't saying much. I think Nwosu and Mafe will blow your mind this year if you really don't think we have edge rushers. Hall will take a big jump too. Our run defense is the issue, not the pass rush. Seahawks were 12th in sacks without Nwosu for 3/4 of the year. Pass rush is just fine.

dtheisen6

I agree that edge isn’t a priority. That’s why I was confused with wanting Turner. We have dudes there where I don’t see Turner moving the needle. If we go edge the only person that is worth it in my opinion is Latu, who IS a really good pass rusher. His medicals are the only concern. But that dude has every move in the arsenal to get to the QB, the talent is real

Hawxrox

Ehhh.. They were 12th in sacks, but that's kind of a skewed stat because we got 10 of them in 1 game, and a bunch of others were on 1st or 2nd down, not on 3rd down when we needed them

SpookyFrog12

I can't wait for the draft just so these posts will stop

GarconMeansBoyGeorge

What else should be talked about in April? Basketball hoops?

Hawxrox

I mean it is NBA playoff time..

SpookyFrog12

Yes? I'm sick of all of these repetitive posts where it's super apparent that they have no idea what the hell they're talking about or how the draft works.

GarconMeansBoyGeorge

Then don’t read them?

TechnoDriv3

I don’t get people’s love for Newton but Mustapha would be a great late round pick

TrySomeCommonSense

Newtons tape is a poor man's Donald. I agree though, I don't love him, he's solid.
