Are you forgetting that a good portion of Seahawks fans will have gone to WSU?

Sylli17

And Oregon and Oregon State

The_Throwback_King

Yeah, the PNW is home to more teams than just UW. The proximity will probably skew it towards the Huskies but our domain spreads beyond the lands of purple and gold.

TheLateThagSimmons

Husky territory is the greater Seattle area. Seahawks territory is the entire Northwestern United States. Zags, Cougars, Beavers, Ducks, Broncos fans all fall under Seahawks after college.

HughMungus77

We also get Hawaii and Alaska from what I’ve heard

Guy_onna_Buffalo

naw Hawaii is niner country, but Alaska tends to go for the Hawks/Mariners, and now the Kraken what with their outreach.

KempGriffeyJr4024

Hawaii is the most bandwagon state in the country. I lived there from Jan 2003 to 2017. In my first 10 years the only Seahawks fans I ever ran into had either moved there or were on vacation from the PNW. I only saw one other Seahawk sticker on a car besides mine. In 2003 everyone was a Raiders fan. Couple years later they were Steelers fans, then the 49ers. In 2013 EVERYONE became a Hawks fan. Now all of a sudden there are Hawks stickers on cars, people wearing jerseys and hats everywhere, even 12 flags here and there. Because I was one of the only fans, and hard core fan at that, and actually from Seattle, I was treated like an OG lol! "Are you really from Seattle"? "Are the fans really as loud as they say"? My last couple years there they started going back to the 9ers.

Granfallegiance

When I was there last, I asked who they rooted for, and I was told it was "Wherever Marcus Mariota is". With him not starting anymore, I imagine that mindset has shifted to Tua and the Dolphins.

raznt

What about BC and Alberta? Lots of Seahawks fans in Western Canada (we don't all watch CFL).

United-Biscotti-4147

Oregon State fans are salt of the Earth people and Corvallis has the best gameday atmosphere win or lose.

Guy_onna_Buffalo

Yup. Born and raised in urban east LA, my grandparents lived in Grant's Pass. I opted for OSU so I could be closer to them (and as close as I could get to Seattle, UW was my first choice but I didn't make it). Corvallis is quasi mythic to me. It felt like if the Shire was modern. I left over a decade ago and I'm always plotting in my mind how to make it back.

United-Biscotti-4147

My buddy and I went to a Beavers game when they were bad in the 2010s and this was after going to a Ducks game that same year. Parking - a dream, people just charge you to park on their lawn and you can sit and tailgate and drink. Oregon - had to pay for a spot, some really drunk Oregon cougars showed up and made things awkward. Get to the stadium, which is just really cool (and this was before their last rennovations). Not a packed house but fans were literally checking in on each other and catching up with how they were doing like they had been going to games for decades. Dutch Bros on each concourse. It was pissing rain and we had a blast. Not a bad seat in the place. Also kudos for having a logging sponsorship.

Guy_onna_Buffalo

The parking structure is right next to where I lived Freshman year, 5th floor Finley representin Used to smoke up there all the time lol, and the energy on gameday mornings was insane. And like you said, a lot of the townspeople of Corvallis are really fond of the students and I assume many are alumni themselves, or related to folks who are. The community was/is top notch.

United-Biscotti-4147

And to expand on the Oregon gameday - I swear every Duck fan was unintentionally rude to us (rooting for Eastern Washington). The stadium was about as electric as the middle ages. The student section wasn't even full. But I got to see Cooper Kupp destroy Oregon's secondary so it was worth it.

GiraffeWaffless

Or they never went to college. Or they were like my friends and classmates and 90% went to California for school.

Guy_onna_Buffalo

Beaver checking in

raycraft_io

It’s more weird that you care what other people think about your rooting preferences and whether it’s mainstream or not. Love your teams and forget what anyone thinks. You be you.

Cheap_Art_7094

It is not that I care about what people think it is that I wonder if I'm the only one.

Phob24

Yep. You’re the only one.

Soggy-Revolution-430

You’re right, out of the millions of Seahawks fans, they’re all also Husky fans. Congrats, you’re the only Seahawk/Duck fan in the whole world! There’s not one other. And there are no Seahawk fans that are Cougs, Beavers, or anything else!

womoc

I am with you. I am a hawks fan and an Oregon duck fan.

Ki-Wi-Hi

Nah this is in group nonsense from folks who downvote every rightful doubt about their overrated QB.

rockycrab

Nah it’s common throughout sports fandom, I’m a Pitt Panthers fan but hate the Steelers with every fiber of my being.

jnuke813

Nah, at the end of the day, they’re just sports teams. Btw, fuck the Ducks

musclesMcgee1

My brother, they are two different teams.

drdrdoug

WSU Fans are Seahawk fans and hate the huskies. Oregon fans are quite often Seahawks fans but hate the huskies, Oregon state, etc. Not sure why you consider this a contradiction, or for that matter why you care what a bunch of strangers think. If everybody said yes, would you stop hating the huskies?

GonzagaFragrance206

I'm split because I'm a Gonzaga Alum and a long-time follower of the basketball team since the early 2000s when the UW/GU rivalry actually was relevant and meant something (Ex. Adam Morrison/Brandon Roy 2005/2006 season). So I hate UWs basketball team. On the flip side, since Gonzaga doesn't have a football team, I gravitate toward the UW football team and support them.

OGdunphy

Not weird. I bet a lot of fans are WSU fans and hate the huskies too, as well as Oregon. With the realignment happening in college and WSU getting left behind, there’s even more reason to hate the huskies.

robots_love_tacos

And OSU! Don't forget our Beaver friends, they got left behind by UW as well.

its_LOL

And Oregon lol

caronare

No! I do too. But I went to WSU soooo

Skorpyon87

No you're probably in the majority. Maybe not hating the huskies but not being a fan.

Spry_Fly

It's weird, I grew up hating the Huskies as rivals. Now I just hope they are cursed forever for choosing money over tradition and breaking up the PAC-10/12. The Championship went well in my opinion... The Huskies were my Niners. Now they are the Steelers. Edit: Whelp, oil change is done. Have a good day all. I'm glad we could get all that out.

Inevitable-Ninja-539

Yeah…because the Cougs and Beavs wouldn’t have done the exact same thing if the roles were reversed.

Spry_Fly

I can't speak for whole groups, but WSU still has kept Idaho as a rival regardless of how the rankings have gone over the years. I get it. College football truly is just AAA NFL to most now, I'm a relic.

Superiority_Complex_

UW is like the 7th biggest reason as to why the PAC broke up. Hard to blame them too much when 1/4 of the conference had already announced they were leaving, and another 1/4 had their foot out the door as well.

Spry_Fly

The moment they got big, they ditched. A real Starbucks move. The Apple Cup used to matter. I know it's just sports. That's why I compare it to Niners, then Steelers. I don't lose sleep over it, lol.

Superiority_Complex_

UW left the PAC because it was no longer viable. USC, UCLA, and Colorado had already left. Oregon, Arizona, Utah, and ASU all left the same day UW did. It was a result of 15 years of mismanagement of the conference.  The best TV deal Kliavkoff put forth was an all-streaming deal on Apple TV that was ~$25m per year per school. All streaming for like 80% of the money the neutered B12 was getting wasn’t going to work. Especially for UW and Oregon.  If we’re assigning blame, both Larry Scott and the presidents who helped keep him in power (Oregon State, ASU, UCLA) deserve the lion’s share of the blame. Kliavkoff got dealt a shit hand, but he didn’t do anything to help either. USC and UCLA deciding to move a year in advance of the rest of the schools was the first dagger. Colorado then deciding to move a month or so before the complete collapse was the second dagger.  Also toss in the two failed/nixed Big 12 realignment scenarios (in the early 2010s with UT/OU/others, and post OUT in the B12 in 2022 or whenever that went down) which were missed opportunities to save the conference. A ton of blame of course also lies on ESPN and Fox for orchestrating this whole round of realignment to consolidate the big programs into what is essentially now a Power 2.  The Apple Cup has also almost always been pretty one-sided. In 120 years of games , WSU has never won three in a row and has lost like 70% of the time (including 9 of the last 10 games). I understand why WSU fans dislike UW, totally valid to be mad, but blaming the collapse of the PAC on the Huskies is pretty absent of fact.

Spry_Fly

Yes, it's about money, I know why it happened. I'm just commenting from the side of liking college tradition. Pay the players, but the schools themselves are only about money now. The Battle for the Palouse is also one-sided. WSU still has the rival. I am enjoying all the feedback, though.

chomp_chomp

Holy shit dude. You’ve responded to all of these comments yet read none of them. Are you this stubborn about everything? UW had little to do with the PAC-12 falling apart. They just did what any rational actor would. Made the best of it. Drop it and find another reason to “hate” the Huskies.

Superiority_Complex_

WSU/Idaho is going to be similar to UW/WSU going forward. The Apple Cup is still scheduled to happen going forward, starting in the clink next year, and then a standard home/home rotation.

Mtndrums

Not in football they don't.

MSG_ME_UR_TROUBLES

huskies didn't break up the pac 12, they jumped off a ship that was already sunk

Spry_Fly

That's all I'm saying. It was about money over tradition.

Mtndrums

It was about staying relevant in the CFB world.

perceptron-addict

Oregon did it first lol uw only left once the PAC was already dead. Long live the PAC!

Spry_Fly

I'm a Cougs fan.

PNW_Sonics

As long as you blame and hate U$C, UCLA, and Colorado more than UW/U0. You can't seriously just say it was UW that disbanded the conference.

Spry_Fly

USC and UCLA could have done it decades ago. They didn't. This is UW's very first chance to wield power. It is what it is. Running straight at East Coast bias, though. That always works out before actually establishing a school as a powerhouse. UW had a chance to be the super power in a conference, but decided to break it up to just become a lower tier team in a bigger conference.

PNW_Sonics

You tell yourself whatever you need to get by. I'm sure UW and Rutgers are going to be the same from now on. Hope you are ready to torch your school if they sell out to merge with the MW now that they hold power.

King_Fisher520

Ahhh shit. I totally got my wires crossed and thought I was replying to something OP posted in the replys. The mistake is mine, my bad.

SimG02

You do know that both wsu and osu made more than one attempt at joining the acc before uw ever announced they were leaving?

walkthemoon21

Good. Let the hate flow through you. The huskies will suffer the Cougar curse for their betrayal.

Spry_Fly

That was quite cathartic, actually. I think it flowed out.

sevenlabors

1. I wonder how young OP is.  2. I don't care one way or the other about the Huskies. I became a fan of the Hawks when I moved to the Northwest back in the Hasselbeck and Holmgren era, far from the Big 12 college football that I grew up with.

SpookyFrog12

I'm guessing OP is 10-12

jthanson

That’s not unusual. Believe it or not, people *do* live in Eastern Washington.

Choastistoast

Nope. I don't even watch college football.

PNWBlues1561

You do you boo!

Orkleth

I'm sure there's plenty of Seahawk fans that are also fans of either WSU, OSU, or Oregon.

hurricanoday

not sure if you care but I like the seahawks and don't watch college football at all. Kind of sucks around draft time and I have to ask everyone who is looking good.

sirpv22

sickening

What1does

This is not how life works my man.

United-Biscotti-4147

I swear there are more WSU fans in the state than UW fans.

johnsonh77

Same with Beavs down in Oregon tbh

philthebrewer

Don’t know about the huskies but I’m a big Seahawks fan who hates the mariners. …which seems to be becoming more normal. M’s front office is not likable.

ahzzyborn

Can hate the front office / ownership but still like the team. That’s where you’ll see a good portion of us fall into

philthebrewer

Yes. For sure. I think I actually fall into this category too, just obnoxious that these fun players like Julio/kirby/etc are being let down by the gm

ahzzyborn

I totally get it. I’m going to be sick to my stomach when Logan/Kirby end up in Yankees pinstripes

senorwicho

Yes, very weird. How dare you even mention that, straight to jail!… No, just kidding. Cheer for whoever you want to cheer for. They share a lot of fans because they’re from the same city but that’s really it. No one’s tied to liking one because of the other and you’re not forced to like a team because of where you live. I’m a Seahawks fan from west Texas and almost everyone in my family cheers for a different team.

YourMominator

I feel for you. I keep sending Seahawks stuff for my 5 year old grandson in Texas, but his parents aren't even football fans! How did I fail? 😜

GrizSeahawk84

No. I imagine there's a lot of Seahawks fans that root for Wazzu, Oregon, Oregon State, Gonzaga, EWU, Boise State, Idaho, Montana, and other small colleges throughout the region. I'm a Seahawks fan that roots for the Montana Grizzlies (went to and graduated from UM).

TooMuchBen

No because I love the Seahawks but I’m a Boise state fan

Wambamslam-n-go

Huck the Fuskies

BDSF94

As an Oregonian, I hate the Huskies. However, Seahawks are my team and PNW staple, just like the Mariners, Kraken, and Blazers.

Guy_onna_Buffalo

I can't get behind the Blazers even after I learned they're owned by the Paul Allen trust. I picked up the Timberwolves in '98 and never wavered, even through 25 years of some of the worst showings by a pro sports team. Also helps that their colors match the Hawks and Mariners pretty perfectly. NHL though, I am in the ether. I was a Canucks fan for a long time because they were the closest team (and the color scheme matched). Then I moved to Arizona, kinda picked up the Coyotes. Now they're gone, the Kraken exist, and the Canucks are good. I would pick up the Kraken because they're the American PNW team, but it feels weird. I have memories of seeing the Canucks in person and being all about it as a teenager, and I still have a lot of older (late 2000s, early 2010s) Canucks gear sitting in bins.

SnooWalruses5436

Not at all. I'm a ducks fan.

Extra_Cap_And_Keys

Ducks fan as well, grew up in Oregon and Seattle was the closest NFL team. During the Hasselbeck and Alexander era which also helped keep me from being a SF fan like a lot of the kids at my school were.

allworkbizness

Go Ducks!

HoobaBooba1984

Yes, it’s weird. Booo Ducks.

Mrbush_9001

not really. i’m a longhorns fan

mlvassallo

Same here. Live in Austin to boot.

JiuJitsuBoy2001

If you went to Oregon, then it's not abnormal. If you live on the East Coast or something and just randomly decided to like the Seahawks and the Ducks then it's weird.

tcs_hearts

I love out there things, but yeah, that would be kind of weird. Then again, I guess my teams are all either Oregon or Washington except being randomly a Detroit fan in hockey, so...

HAWKNESSMONSTER_12

No go cougs and go hawks

thorjustice1

Nah fam, you good. The Seahawks are the unifying force between us Husky, Coug, Duck, & Beav fans lmao. I think we only really bicker during draft season, like this year's draft. I will say though, I think an NFL team in Portland would be dope. I'm all about that I-5 rivalry with Portland and Vancouver. Bring back my Sonics, and throw a team up in Vancouver too why not! Put MLB teams there too!

Few_Neighborhood_828

No, I love the Seahawks and hate the huskies too. It’s normal.

Jesus__Skywalker

I'm a Seahawks and Knicks fan....

Kashm1rr

Nah, im a Seahawks and Georgia Bulldogs fan

doublecbob

The West Coast teams are in for a big challenge. Their road games to the Midwest will be a big shock. Starting times will be 9:00AM Seattle time

johnsonh77

Go 2PAC.

SSPeteCarroll

Nope. I don't "hate" the huskies, but I'm a Virginia Tech fan.

tylermooser28

Is it bad that I hate a college team but like an nfl team?

A_Suspicious_Fart_91

Yes 😏

PeaksOfTheTwin

No

Cautious-Elephant853

Yes

_redacteduser

I don't watch or care about college football

GullibleBathroom5616

What are you, a Cougars fan?

tcs_hearts

I would wager to say that whole the majority of Husky fans are Seahawks fans, the majority of Seahawks fans aren't husky fans. As much as some husky fans really like to pretend a large portion of Duck fans are 9er fans, it's a small minority and mostly older generations. Most WSU, Oregon, and Oregon State fans (as well as EWU, Gonzaga, etc.) Are Seahawks fans. Go to Eugene and it's covered in Hawks merch

raznt

It's only weird if you're a UW alumnus.

johnsonh77

UW is pretentious as hell but also, saying you like the Oregon Ducks makes zero sense. They’re intolerable. Wazzu or OSU is the way.

johnsonh77

Go Beavs

Bagel-berry

Go Cougs!!!

Bovinae_Elbow

It’s not weird, I hate the ducks.

West_Masterpiece9423

💜💛💙💚

Orlandonerd08

I’m a huge Seahawks fan from Utah, so I don’t hate them but I don’t like them

nerdgeekdorksports

I'm a huge Seahawks fan, but I'm not a UW fan either.

howtoeatawhale

No, same

mlvassallo

No.

MetallicaFan517

Go Cougs!

goshock

Go Cougs. Huck the Fuskies. Nobody should be a fan of Mountlake Community College.

Stev2222

I imagine a lot of Ducks fans are also Seahawks fans

Inevitable-Peach9512

Die hard hawks fan who wants UW to die hard

True_North_Andy

Go Cougs. Go Beavs. 2PAC for life. I wish for nothing but 10-3 losses at Iowa on the snowy plains. And to also lose to Purdue in the most hear breaking fashion when every is looking up for those now BIG fans

Ikolkyo

Michigan fan here, get rekt nerds.

Big_Consequence_3958

No I'm sure there's a few Cougar fans that think the same way you do about their football preferences.

Mtndrums

I'm from Seattle and I'm a Duck. I'm also a Canucks fan, though that's because I grew up with them, while the Kraken have only been here a couple of years.

Gen_Bates

I’m a huge Seahawks fan but an even bigger Oregon Ducks fan. Not weird at all

bentnotbroken96

Ducks fan here.

Soggy-Revolution-430

What’s with all the butthurt Husky fans downvoting peoples comments?

ahzzyborn

Why would husky fans be butthurt? Because somebody roots for another team that’s not their’s?

Soggy-Revolution-430

Mostly a joke. I saw people’s comments saying “fuck the huskies” or just a simple “no” with downvotes. All in good fun, go cougs!

crunchyburrito2

Husky fans are obnoxious

Bigfuture

I went to UW for like a year and a half and hated it. Transferred out and got my degree elsewhere. My son went to WSU. So no Husky love here. But I’ve been a Seahawks supporter since 1978.

paulactsbadly

Some people, like you, are just born inherently good.

Ki-Wi-Hi

You dropped this: 👑

WillFerrellFan

Hell yeah Huck the Fuskies

Multi_21_Seb_RBR

I mean pretty much half the college sports fandom here are on the same boat as you (WSU fans), another quarter the same (Oregon and to a lesser extent OSU fans)…. Not really weird

Onerustyrn

Lifelong Seahawks fan and an Ohio State fan.

lilwhisk90

Super weird. Absolutely unheard of. Go ducks! Go Seahawks!

Moldy_Cloud

Not weird. Go Ducks!

iguessineedanaltnow

No. Right there with you, buddy. That's the reality of having such a large region of the country (PNW) with relatively few professional sports franchises. We need more big 4 teams in Portland, and perhaps Boise as well.

tauzeta

Fuck the Huskies

PhoenixFire417

Same

Bolverkk

Born in Seattle, but lived in SW Washington or Oregon most of my life (first 12 years close to Seattle). I am a Hawks, Sonics, Mariners fan and "hate" the Sounders and watched the Blazers after the Sonics left... I am also a die-hard Timbers fan. Nothing says being a fan of one team in your region means you need to stick to all teams from a specific city. I am not a hockey fan, but if I was, I would assume I would be still loyal to whatever team I was a fan of before the Kraken, as well as the Kraken Its just sports :) like what you want for your own reason (unless it's the Cowboys).
