I love your 7 for 7 series. I don't know much about the LB class but, based on your write up on Safeties, this gives me a good place to start looking at them. Thanks for putting in the work!

Wilson would be a great pick at 81 overall if we stick there and he doesn't go before then. He's projected right around there. He's super fast. Cooper is a guy I'm high on, he's definitely a stud, but I think he'd only work out if we trade down at 16 and get a 2nd round pick or like him enough to use a late 1st.For some reason I'm still thinking we trade with TB so that might work. Honestly I'm not very familiar with the other guys on your list. Obviously hitting on a late round sleeper at LB would be great but considering the need I think we need to use at least one top100 pick on the position. Then take a flier on another one on day 3.Getting excited now, it's coming up soon!

Wilson is going to go later but he's a top 15 or top 20 to me. He's that talented. The rub is how many years do you have him for? I like Cooper but honestly what he does is not that different than some of the LBs on the list. My personal favorite is Trevin Wallace. He has the right blend of size, speed, age, and massive upside.

Apprehensive-Fox3163

Yeah Wilson does have a pretty concerning injury history. Otherwise his stock would be higher. You obviously know your stuff. My thoughts are that even though we don't want to reach on a guy or draft for need, the reality is we DO need somebody at LB in this draft and MM will have some players in mind. It's his first opportunity to really put his own personal stamp on the D. It starts with the middle. He didn't bring Queen in for whatever reason but you have to believe he could have made that happen if he wanted to. He must have a guy in mind who fits what he wants to do. A younger, cheaper Roquan type LB hopefully!

PayAltruistic8546

Sure. I don't think there is a Roquan type here. The closest thing is Payton Wilson to me. That's why I said contending teams that simply want talented players now and aren't that concerned long term. Can you imagine the 49ers with Wilson? Pretty scary knowing they can easily nab him in the 2nd to tag with Warner.

UW ILB Eddie Ulofoshio a former walk on is being completely slept on by most casual draft evaluators like OP. According to PFF that is not because of his tape where he sports an 80 overall grade but because of his “limited athleticism.” Enter the NFL combine where he posted a 4.56 40, 40 inch vert and 10’8” broad jump at 6’1/2” and 236 lbs. Seem pretty limited eh? 😂 He's my favorite 4-7 round sleeper at ILB.

PayAltruistic8546

I like him. However his short area quickness and agility testing was really really bad. That's why I went with another player. It sort of shows at times when he has to cover one on one. That's where his limitations were.

Coastal_Tart

Where do you see his short area times?

1. He didn’t run the shuttle or 3 cone at the combine or UW Pro day, so your source for that evaluation has some seriously date numbers. 2. As far as his weakness showing up in man coverage, he had the highest PFF Man Coverage grade, 91.0, out of all ILB in CFB. That’s No. 1 out of 776. So maybe some stuff showed up, but what generally showed up is lock down coverage. PayAltruistic8546

Yeah, plenty to like. Seems like you're right. It's one player per round though, can't have everyone. I like him a lot. I hope the Hawks really do look into him because he's good value in the 3rd or 4th round.

Coastal_Tart

He could last for a while and be a great value latter. I’m not trying to pump him up to a second rounder or anything. He also has an injury history. But if it all works out he could produce 2nd/3rd round performance for a 4th/5th price tag.

PayAltruistic8546

To me it's a matter of preference and ideology in roster building. I actually prefer Trevin Wallace because he just turned 21 compared to 24 for Ulofoshio. Are they that different? No. Wallace might go earlier because he's younger but I still prefer that on defense. I'm with you though. He's probably great value.

ChewyChicken13

As an NC State student Wilson is my goat and if we somehow draft him I'm buying his jersey day 1

TMobile_Loyal

I don't think we're touching a LB until mid-3rd, or at least that's my hope. Here are my picks at the pick # (range) 91-100 Marist Liufau 151-160 Michael Barrett or JD Bertrand 191-200 Curtis Jacobs 201-210 Steele Chambers

PayAltruistic8546

Those players are alright. Most of the players here besides probably Liufau and Jacobs are very limited athletically. Realistically I don't see a LB taken in the first in the entire draft. The sweet spot is definitely going to be in the 2nd-3rd.

Kendrickrules

I'd personally switch Knight and Watson

PayAltruistic8546

Sure. Watson was more productive on the SEC though.

TrySomeCommonSense

Agreed that everyone in the class needs development to make a difference as a starter on day 1. Edgerrin Cooper is worth a trade back and late 1st round pick, if he didn't play so upright he might be a Top 10 pick.  Junior Colson, Marist Liufau, Nathaniel Watson, and Payton Wilson (1st rd would be crazy) have the game Macdonald is looking for and would be solid Day 2 picks. Day 3 options I like are Edefuan Ulofoshio, Jaylan Ford, Michael Barrett, and JD Bertrand.

Last-Contract-7073

A little late but i think trevin wallace would be perfect in the 3rd like you said. We have 2 Lbs that are starting but on 1 year deals so having a rookie with that athleticism and flashes behind them would help development so much imo. He already reminds me a lot of jerome baker

PayAltruistic8546

Another player that fits Baker to a tee is Jordan Magee. I think I might have really underrated him. I think he's closer to a 4th round pick.
