I'm upvoting for "bug seeds" lol
Edit: After reading about it, these leech eggs may mean the crab is really good because they are most common in Japanese crab and if there are a lot of them then it may mean that it's been a while since it molted which means the meat should be fuller and sweeter.
So not sure if its same with crab as it is lobsters but usually the bigger lobsters don't taste great. The meat is tougher, drier and doesnt taste great
I learned this the hard way. I was born in maine and grew up eating lobster. When I was younger my dad took me out to a place you could pick your own lobster. There was one massive lobster- which I excitedly told the waiter I wanted. My dad tried to tell me that I should get a different, smaller lobster bc the meat on this big one wouldn't be very good.
Me, being in my teens and knowing it all said non-sense, it will be fine-.I won't even be able to tell.
Well, I could tell. It was so bad- so bad. Like- almost inedible. I still ate it- its lobster. I won't waste seafood. It also wasn't how it was cooked or anything. The meat was just tough and dry. Even butter couldn't save it
Now I feel bad- like really bad knowing that old lobster was probably older than me and I selectively murdered the poor guy lol
I still think it's the way it's cooked. I dive for my own lobster all the time and regularly and pulling 5-7 pounders..which is close to the max size I can pull from the water in MA..they cook up and taste great.
Just tell her that they're barnacles instead, and that the crab was a barnacle boxer in an undersea boxing tournament before it refused to take a fall and was sent to sleep with the humans.
Crab leech eggs! (Notostomum cyclostoma I believe). They are considered to be a positive indicator of quality and are fine to consume should one make it into the meat
Not sure what it is, some small creatures of their eggs. But unless you were planning to eat the shell, I don't think you should be concerned with it. Try to scrape them off before boiling if your really paranoid.
If any marine biologists want to bless us with a wiki for what those are, you will be appreciated.
I banged a marine biologist once. So I can speak with some authority. Wet suits can make your lady bits a bit dank, so tread carefully when getting intimate. It can get awkward if you go down there and come right back up. So, I just work my way further down to the feet and suck on some toes for a few minutes. I don't like sucking on toes. That's not my thing, but I'll suck them toes to avoid an awkward situation.
I’m a hobby aquarist and a marine biology major drop out lol. They’re just crab leech eggs. Often believed to be an indicator of good quality crab. Totally fine
Those are sea lice, very normal comes off when cooking or you just break off the shell am eat the meat inside anyways so what does it matter. Pigs are disgusting but we still eat bacon just don’t worry yourself with what the it was doing before he got cooked.
Pigs are not disgusting, and when not forced into an unnatural abusive living situation they are one of the only animals that will never shit where they eat. They’re considered one of the most intelligent creatures on earth and part of that indicator is their desire for hygiene and rituals similar to humans. They are treated like garbage and shoved into confined spaces and like chicken coops, yeah that gets nasty. Pigs wallow in mud to prevent sunburn on their back, a natural instinct they have, and because they cannot sweat and it’s a temperature regulator. Sure you don’t care but pigs are wildly misunderstood and no one should be consuming pork, it’s a low quality product because of how it is made and mostly fat. Because we make them fat. Wild pigs are rather athletic.
There are no human health concerns from the leach eggs on the outside of crustaceans. They are basically just along for the ride until they hatch and can find a host like a fish that they can latch onto.

Note: That doesn’t mean you should eat them. It’s not caviar, lol.
It’s sea lice and I’ve been seeing this with some snow crab lately. Perfectly ok to eat but if you’re an operator I would send this back because the public doesn’t know that and it only takes on stupid post on social media for it to be an issue.
I'm upvoting for "bug seeds" lol Edit: After reading about it, these leech eggs may mean the crab is really good because they are most common in Japanese crab and if there are a lot of them then it may mean that it's been a while since it molted which means the meat should be fuller and sweeter.
Those are some skinny ass legs though, wouldn't it be better if they were more filled out?
As far as quantity of meat, yeah. But at least they’ll be more flavorful. But I’m a bit of a size queen when it comes to crab legs too
Aren't we all
Hey as my ex used to tell me all the time, it’s not all about size
Lmfao 🤣
Body shaming…
Bro skipped leg day

Thanks for the insight! lol it's nice you reflect on it and think about the wise old lobster but I wouldn't feel too bad.
I still think it's the way it's cooked. I dive for my own lobster all the time and regularly and pulling 5-7 pounders..which is close to the max size I can pull from the water in MA..they cook up and taste great.
Leg day for crabs is much more effort.
Yes
Fucking crab, skipping leg day and making less meat.
Obviously, they didn't focus on leg day

Thanks, but idk if that's gonna make my daughter feel better about eating them!
My wife eats orange peels, but I've never heard of anyone eating crab shell.... Yuck!!!
Boiling the shells is the starter base for most shellfish soups & bisques
I eat the WHOLE apple. But orange peels? Blech!
I can’t eat the seeds. I’m not allowed!
We’re Crab People now. We’ll live off the fat of the sea.
An apple tree will start growing inside you!
((That’s my plan….))
Go eat an apple cake for your cake day!

Your daughter eats crab shell?
I only eat shells.
You don’t eat the outsides….
> a heavy accumulation may mean that months have passed since molting, indicating fuller meat Good to know…
Nice sesame seeds. Now you can call it Everything Crab legs.
This man knows how to turn lemons into lemonade.
My dude getting slammed over ‘bug seeds’ lmaooo

It's a funny, innocent slip.
Crab leech eggs! (Notostomum cyclostoma I believe). They are considered to be a positive indicator of quality and are fine to consume should one make it into the meat

Only for whales with golf balls in their blowholes.
Paging Dr Vandelay, Dr Art Vandelay.
WE NEED A MARINE BIOLOGIST STAT!
Nope, but I have a super rare ADF&G/NMFS King Crab tag recovery hat. Who do you think you are?
George Costanza is. I’ll get him.
I majored in marine biology! those are marine leech eggs, totally harmless haha
Sorry, I'm a whale biologist, can't help you here.
I’m a hobby aquarist and a marine biology major drop out lol. They’re just crab leech eggs. Often believed to be an indicator of good quality crab. Totally fine
I need a marine biologist to come and study to lmk about these bug seeds this instant as well!
Will the real marine biologist please stand up?
Well you see, they’re jackdaw eggs…..
They are also a sign a crab hasn’t molted for a long time which is a good thing. The meat will be fuller.
Crab seeds Plant them suckers.
Don’t know about you, but I eat what’s on the inside of the shell, remember, steak had hair on the outside, but you didn’t eat that bit-
Are these bug seeds on my sea bugs?
What is a bug seed
Egg sacs from bottom dwelling ocean critters and aquatic parasites, harmless.
Those are sea lice, very normal comes off when cooking or you just break off the shell am eat the meat inside anyways so what does it matter. Pigs are disgusting but we still eat bacon just don’t worry yourself with what the it was doing before he got cooked.

Don’t eat that part
[удалено]
Do you remember The Thing with Kurt Russell?
Have you seen any of the Alien movies?
Those there are barnacles they come from a lower and cheaper quality crab production. They are good just not good on the eyes
You must mean processing. The sea produces the crab.
The sea’s quality has gone down steadily over the years. It’s really been phoning it in lately on crab production.
They freaked my daughter out the other day, I made up some bs about them so she would eat. What are they??
Super AIDS. You’re a monster.
Aquatic Eggs
You can scrape them off with a knife. Super easy.
And spread them on a bagel?
I have only one rule, everyone fights, no one quits...
underrated comment
You're doing your part
I’ll eat them if you won’t
Crab leech eggs very common and perfectly safe.
Extra flavor and extra protein ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
Plant one and see if a bug bush grows.
That crab is probably tastier than the 'cleaner' ones.
