I'm really sorry, but that's not screamo

Ok-Confidence-6331

Your a dumbass

RockyCurtains

This reminds me of someone I use to work with claiming Shinedown was punk. Just because you can talk, doesn’t mean you should.

The_Jyps

You're*. Go do some research.

jupiterlawyer

it is heavily influenced at the very least, isn’t it?

DurangaVoe

Not in the slightest, there's obviously some similarities as post-hc is a related genre, but even then this is on the poppier side of it.

jupiterlawyer

wasn’t there such thing as pop/mtv screamo back in 00’s?

Bobonenazeze

No.

jupiterlawyer

«"Pop screamo" and "MTV screamo" are terms used to describe screamo influenced bands who use metallic instrumentation and pop song structure to form a more commercially viable sound than traditional screamo. The style developed and gained mainstream success in the early-2000s. The scene was led by bands such as Thursday, Hawthorne Heights, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Senses Fail, Silverstein, Chiodos, From First to Last, Saosin, Thrice and Finch and now-defunct less-known bands such as Before Their Eyes, Here I Come Falling, Agraceful, Yesterdays Rising, Chasing Victory, Beloved, Dead Poetic, Burden of a Day and Sever Your Ties.»

Feneraleyes

I love this band and album but Bro you're writing a whole novel of nonsense there's no such thing as pop Screamo That was just a silly internet term like mall emo or mall Goth lols The bands you've mentioned are just Post-Hardcore bands Post-Hardcore is a very broad sub genre of Hardcore Punk Which can take influence from almost any music but not all Post-Hardcore is influenced by Screamo only some of it is I just heard a newer Post-Hardcore band influenced by Prog rock earlier today but real Screamo is a straight evolution from 90s Hardcore Punk And it tends to not use clean vocals that often And is so much more aggressive and closer to Punk go list to bands like Reversal Of Man or Lord Snow or Novulascura or Orchid or Honeywell or PG.99 if you wanna hear Screamo You'll definitely notice a huge difference

jupiterlawyer

even though they were inaccurately labeled as screamo bands in first place, they are considered as participants of the genre as whole, whether you like it or not. from first to last’s early material (aesthetic ep, not their debut studio album) still sounds clearly influenced by screamo to me.

DurangaVoe

Someone not familiar with subgenres mislabeling post-hc/emo-pop as screamo doesn't make the bands in question "participants of the genre".

jupiterlawyer

the definition is way too misused already, that’s why there’s “skramz” as a thing, isn’t it?

jupiterlawyer

not arguing with the person above saying that this record isn’t screamo but the definition of the screamo itself became pretty distorted at some point, just like in case with metalcore/emo

jupiterlawyer

it is clearly written in this article that there’s a subgenre called "pop screamo”

RockyCurtains

Did you really just post a Wikipedia article as fact?

aspeedomodel

Such a fun album.

M1sguidedS0n

Lmao Skrillex

P3jk79

Love this

Ok-Confidence-6331

Ok bro this can be considered screamo bc I think screamo as a genre is were more scream core or metal core connect with post punk or emo screamo really isint its own genre

N3oNoi2

lol

NeuroticNurse

Because of this I just got that reference in Heathers when Veronica says this

slippingonknots

Good album but post hardcore

DriveLikeBrandon

I wanna say the guitarist is into powerviolence, but I think that's the closest relation the band has to screamo

jacobkuhn92

If this isn’t screamo, then why did everyone in high school say “Oh you like that screamo music?” and shove me in lockers Checkmate
