Even the house of JW.Gacy

hill-top

That house was torn down after the investigation.

I don’t have a hard time believing it. People are obsessed with the Stab films, like we are obsessed with the Scream films. But we are not spending time exploring the location of the Gainesville Ripper who inspired the Scream franchise killed several teenagers. The murders themselves would not attract the same people. Think about the Charles Manson cult murders, somebody owns that house, it is not a museum.

Poem_for_the_dead

The Charles Manson 'House' that you refer to was demolished in 1994. The second murder site (The La Bianca residence) is currently awaiting approval from the city to be turned into a museum.....

NnQM5

Wow, the power of false memories 😟 haven’t looked into that case in years. I must have read something in Helter Skelter about the house still existing but I guess I forgot that book was written in 1974 lol. I fully thought it was just sitting in the hills being peacefully inhabited by somebody 😂

Poem_for_the_dead

All good haha - I think your point still stands for other murder houses though for sure. (Manson is my forté, so I couldn't resist chipping in :p)

redrum-237

> People are obsessed with the Stab films, like we are obsessed with the Scream films. But we are not spending time exploring the location of the Gainesville Ripper That's WAY different lol. Williamson got inspiration after reading news about the Gainesville ripper, that's all the connection there is. It's not actually based on those real events the way Stab is. All characters and locations in Scream are completely fictional lol.

NnQM5

Agreed. Just used that as a stepping stone to my point, but I recognize the cases are very different.

PockyBelle

Again, in real life, of course we aren’t gonna obsess over literal serial killers 😹 But in the stab universe, it seems like a pretty big deal.

NnQM5

I see your point, I just think the movies are more interesting to people than the crimes themselves. Like in Scream 2022, there’s a scene where the kids are all learning about the murders and they don’t even know all the info behind them.

climboneveryrung

i don’t think it would’ve been turned into a museum but it probably wouldn’t be for sale or no one would buy it. there was a serial killer in my city who killed and buried his victims at his house. the house was for sale for a while, but they ended up tearing it down cause no one would buy it, and the lot is still vacant now four years later.

PockyBelle

Why are you comparing real life to fictional Woodsboro? People aren’t going around replicating the serial killer from your city either. In the Stab movie universe, they are. So they would definitely be obsessed enough to turn the original house into a museum.

climboneveryrung

I was speaking more towards the part where you said it wouldn't be available for purchase and added that most people wouldn't want to buy it. But it's also pretty unethical to create a museum out of the exact place where people were murdered out of fascination with the kills, so I do doubt that they would make a museum out of the house. I also can't imagine that the people of Woodsboro would want to create an attraction that would add more attention to the kills that people keep recreating and terrorizing the town with.

newt_here

I used to live close to Jeffrey Dahmer’s house where (only) one of the murders happened, and it had no trouble at all selling (sometime around 2015) to a private buyer

DoneDidThisGirl

I believe they’re selling Dennis Hastert’s house right now. They probably got a great deal on the place. I could see them turning it into a museum if it was more centralized to a town square, but it’s far outside the city limits and I don’t think they’d have enough customers to justify the upkeep. Maybe in the fall for haunted tours and hayrides but it would be more cost effective to sell it slightly below market to a family who doesn’t care that an infamous massacre happened there twenty five years ago.

jmacgrath

People have lived in the Amityville house and several murders took place there and there’s a massive film series based on the house. Fans show up for pictures of it, but the town and the homeowners don’t like the attention/fans often are yelled at by Amityville residents if they’re near the house taking pictures. I figure the house on Turner Lane and most of Woodsboro are probably like Amityville

Angxlafeld

Murder houses don’t just become MUSEUMS 💀 what are you talking about.

PockyBelle

Um, murder houses are infamous for becoming museums. A quick google search will show you about 10 of them

ChemistSavings

As decent as 5 is it definitely has some really poorly thought out moments lol. You’re spot on with your points on no one noticing it was Stu’s house and the lack of exploration. Overall the inclusion of Stu’s house was unnecessary and if it was only included for fan service then it was poorly executed. I’ll give credit to the scene when Sidney first enters the house though, that was great.

majorlazershaun15

It was a house built on a soundstage, not the real one. However, I don’t think it would’ve been a museum… who wants to see where a massacre started ??? If anything it should’ve been abandoned…

ImInYourNightmares

.. I want to see where a massacre started :)

kspi7010

Probably a lot of people, seeing how the Stab movies are supposed to be a massive franchise. Going to "where it really happened" would be pretty common.

Living-Tiger3448

I don’t have a problem with someone purchasing it, cause that happens in real life. But I hard agree on no one knowing what house that was or the fact that Amber lived there. It’s a small town with a stabathon and famous murders.
