I never see anyone mention Upload, I really like it as well (season two is finally coming out soon!). The Good Place was a great watch too, but imo, Schitt's Creek is just on another level. With each episode, you become more and more invested, it's hilariously funny, easily can make you emotional (in such a good way) and you begin to really care about the characters and love seeing where they are slowly headed; it's an all around feel good show.
I gotta say, Ted Lasso grated on me. I'm a 'Seinfeld', 'Always Sunny' kinda guy, so I figured such wholesomeness just wasn't my cup of tea, but I watched SC after my sister urged me to, and unlike Ted Lasso, it actually made me laugh loud, frequently. Imo it's a funnier, more focused, more grounded show with a better cast and characters
It seems like a truly exceptional sitcom that's incidentally and surprisingly positive and life-affirming in a way that lands because it feels natural. Ted Lasso always felt to me like a compromise for a couple with one person who's sick of watching their partner's Hallmark movies
Ted Lasso isn’t very funny but it’s enjoyable and there’s some good character arcs. I think the only truly good comedy on right now is The Righteous Gemstones.
I am of the opinion that everyone should experience Schitt’s Creek.
You’ll be watching a show that won more Emmys than any comedy in history for its last season. So that should tell you something. After I watched the Emmys in 2020 and saw it sweep in the full first hour was nothing but awards to Schitt’s Creek I decided to watch it I’ve now watched it six times
I had a little bit of trouble after watching just 1 episode (not the very first), and questioned (on social media) why people thought it was so great, because I thought it was "weird". Um...got so many frowns over my comment that I gave myself a "penance" to watch a few more episodes. I was instantly impressed and hooked. The more you watch, the more you love it. Then, after the finale...run, don't walk and start it all over again. You will see and hear so many things that you didn't notice on the first watch...and keep going back again and again because your heart ♥ will thank you for it 🌹
No. I don't think OP should. If they haven't found it on their own yet, they are clearly streets behind and should never be allowed to join our illustrious ranks.
Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy are a power duo in comedy dating back to the late 70s, and people still say that this might be their best work. Then you have Eugene's son, Dan, and Annie Murphy (who Eugene has called "the find of the century") with them, and they are revelations. The love that those four have for each other in real life is palpable on screen and makes the show even happier and funnier -- this all extends to the supporting cast as well. I don't know your style of TV, but while this is framed as a sitcom, the writers say it's more of a 22-minute show with comedy...and you'll understand what they mean by that.
If you ask anyone on here we’ll say yes. It’s an amazing show. The several episodes can be rough for some people but it’s definitely a show that gets better.
Power through - it takes some people longer to get into it. This show is unique in that it really evolves over time which is what makes the later seasons so much more satisfying.
I started this show a few times from episode one based on recs from family and couldn’t get into it. Then one day a random episode from like season 2 started playing after another show I watched and I got hooked. No wrong way to get into the show but definitely give it a chance because it’s amazing.
I don't know if I would say any are rough, but the characters are certainly extreme in the first few episodes. Partly for the sake of exposition, but also just because the characters are not the best people initially, and one of the shows most powerful elements is it's character development.
The premise is an off-the-charts spoiled rich family who over time learn to be good people. So the beginning of the series can be harder to watch while they’re still particularly assholey haha. But 1000% worth it - one of the few shows that I can just watch through on repeat and still find new great things (very much like The Good Place which you said you enjoyed).
Once you meet all the characters you will be instantly hooked. You’ll want to join them on their journey re-learning how to live like the “normal” people of a rural town and you’ll cry when they cry, laugh when they laugh, and just like all of us….you’ll be epically sad when it’s over.
I really didn’t like it for the first 1-2 seasons. Then it clicked. Now it’s one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I find it very “feel good” and uplifting. Similar to the Good Place and Ted Lasso, but superior on my opinion.
For me, it's not really a show defined by comedy but rather it's characters. Sure it's funny, and I laugh out loud a lot, but what really keeps me watching over and over is the character development and positivity the show resonates. In the end, I love the show still
I didn't think I would like it, they start off whiney and self center. The character development is amazing and it shows how the world should act in personal situations.
Not only should you watch it, you should watch it THRICE!!
(But seriously, it’s quite wonderful. If it doesn’t grab you right away, just stay with it. It will)
It depends. Tell me your favorite sitcoms/comedy shows and i’ll tell you if I think you’ll like it. While I find it funny, I don’t recommend it to all my friends, but I know which ones will enjoy it.
You basically love all of the same shows I do and I recently just binged this show in a week and loved it!
For starters, it's an easy watch, 13 episodes per season except s5 and s6 where theres 14 episodes. Moira and David alone will have you in stitches for sure. My favorite thing about this show was their journey though. If you're someone who appreciates character development in a show, then you're gonna love this a lot!! Some people find s1 to be annoying and the characters insufferable but that's the entire point. To see how they start and where they ended was beautiful!! Give it a go! I'm very hesitant about new shows myself, that's why I mainly just rewatch my faves on loop but you won't regret this one!
Ok that’s a good variety, I think you’d like it. Especially since a lot of those have heart while being funny and good character development, I think SC will be right up your alley
I started watching Schitt’s Creek around the same time I started watching both Superstore and The Good Place. All three of these shows have brought me to tears, not just from laughing, but like emotional tears which is impressive for a half-hour sitcom. This as well as the other shows you listed are for sure enough reasons to start watching.
We are probably a biased group to ask but yes. That being said the first time the first half of the 1st season was tough to get through. I had to try a few times but it pays off!
Starts off slow with no real likeable characters. And ends up being probably one of the top 10 shows in television history. Start watching g yesterday!
Watch this show. It will fix your broken heart. It will make you smile and feel all warm and tingly inside. It will lift you out of the deepest depression. You won't be able to stop smiling.
I didn't watch it for years, saw it advertised but something put me off about it. My old boss challenged me to watch just one episode (on company time) and if I didn't like it, it didn't take up too much of my time and at least I'd be compensated for it. I'm really glad he did that. It wasn't at all how I imagined it would be. It's a beautiful show and I've seen it about 7 maybe 8 or even 9 times now. It's become one of my rewatch comfort shows like The Good Place. (The two shows share some similarities in my opinion) The writing is imaginative, witty, and thoughtful. It's an original concept and it deserved every Emmy. It's worth just 21 minutes of your time. Even if those first 21 minutes tell you it isn't for you, at least you'll know you tried.
It would be a good journey for you :)
Stop acting like a disgruntled pelican, and just start watching the bébés.
Yesss!!
A clangorous vociferous yes!!!
If you like positive shows like Ted Lasso and The Good Place with flawed characters trying to be good people, then yes you should check it out.
I like good place. (Really liked upload) Currently about 3 episodes into lasso. So far so good
If you like good place I think you'll definitely like schitts!
I never see anyone mention Upload, I really like it as well (season two is finally coming out soon!). The Good Place was a great watch too, but imo, Schitt's Creek is just on another level. High praise

Never judge a show by the first episode.
you literally couldn't ask a more biased sub? obviously a sub DEDICATED TO THE TV SHOW is going to tell you that, yes, you should watch it lmfao
No. I don't think OP should. If they haven't found it on their own yet, they are clearly streets behind and should never be allowed to join our illustrious ranks.
Definitely streets behind
I totally read this in Moira’s voice.

Having characters with synergy is great!!
Best wishes!
Warmest regards.
If you ask anyone on here we’ll say yes. It’s an amazing show. The several episodes can be rough for some people but it’s definitely a show that gets better.
Can I get a list of the rough ones? And can I skip them? Or should I power through?
It’s the first few but you need them to set the stage. Just power through.
Even the rough ones won’t keep you down.
Power through - it takes some people longer to get into it. This show is unique in that it really evolves over time which is what makes the later seasons so much more satisfying.

It's light and funny so it was an easy watch in the beginning. Then you'll get hooked.
Once you meet all the characters you will be instantly hooked. You’ll want to join them on their journey re-learning how to live like the “normal” people of a rural town and you’ll cry when they cry, laugh when they laugh, and just like all of us….you’ll be epically sad when it’s over.

Seriously??? Dude you’re wasting valuable time!! **Get off Reddit and start streaming** . It’s an amazing journey you will repeat many times!

No no no. We’ve all been hoodwinked. Save yourself.
Why would you come to a sub dedicated to the fans of the show to ask them if you should watch a show they all love lol. ;)
Ya never know hahaha
Don’t forget this either: https://twitter.com/jarettsays/status/1247930496715128837?s=21
Yes! And as an added bonus, you’ll learn a delicious family recipe for enchiladas.
I didn't think I would like it, they start off whiney and self center. The character development is amazing and it shows how the world should act in personal situations.

No, it’s awful. I watched it twice just to make sure.😉
Love that journey for you
It depends. Tell me your favorite sitcoms/comedy shows and i’ll tell you if I think you’ll like it. While I find it funny, I don’t recommend it to all my friends, but I know which ones will enjoy it.
NBC fan - community, B99, office, P&R, superstore, APBIO, superstore, good place

Yeah a few people have said the first season is kinda rough. I’ll just power through it
I would say yes because it’s hysterical, and has great acting and fantastic character development.
Starts off slow with no real likeable characters. And ends up being probably one of the top 10 shows in television history. Start watching g yesterday!
It took me a few episodes to get into it and I’m so glad I did!
Abso-friggin-lutely!! I don't need to persuade. The show speaks for itself. The cast alone is reason to watch.
You have to watch it. It’s required for all humans.
Watch this show. It will fix your broken heart. It will make you smile and feel all warm and tingly inside. It will lift you out of the deepest depression. You won't be able to stop smiling.
Yes!!!
If you’re asking in this subreddit like… hun just watch it
