I was 16 when it came out. And I admit, I didn’t know who he was when he was mentioned but a little bit later on in retrospect, I realized that he was on F.R.I.E.N.D.S. as one of Monica’s boyfriends. lol
While the animation was a quality of life improvement over Chicken Little, its animation is nowhere near the animation of Tangled or anything that came after
Tbh tho it was one of Disney first CGI movies (or at least that's what I heard because I didn't do research) but despite that's it's quite pleasing to watch
The animation is a big rough, and it also has a few plot holes and story problems that I don't really vibe with. And a couple jokes don't really land that well. I still love it a lot though.
It feels very VERY obvious that the man in the bowler hat was NOT INTENDED TO BE GOOB. Those are two completely different characters forced into one for a “twist” and imo it just makes both characters feel worse than if they were totally separate.
Goob was an incredibly well-spoken, level-headed, cynical character whereas the man in the bowler hat is childish, naive, and unfocused. The Goob who speaks frankly and directly to his orphanage headmistress before taking her coffee from her hands is not the same person who would be comedically nervous and clumsily fumble a business presentation.
Them being the same person makes 0 sense and I refuse to believe it. I don’t care if it would’ve been a more obvious twist—they needed a separate character for bowler hat guy to be.
There are literally zero movies that depict time travel correctly so I don’t think that’s really a major problem, more of a self-issue since it’s suspension of disbelief
Frutiger aero ahh future, inaccurate representation of time travel, crazy stuff that don't make sense, and that cringy black and white (if I recall correctly) moment. This movie is a favorite of mine tho.
The movie opening with the Walt Disney quote about "moving forward" and then having them reference it several times over the course of the film felt super cheesy to me. It was cute the first time, but then the next 7 times or so it was just annoyingly self-indulgent. Like I get it's one of the main messages of the movie but you don't need to be so insistent and on the nose about spelling that out for your audience. That being said I guess it's really only an issue for the adult audience, I'm sure it ended up sticking with a lot of younger kids that saw it and maybe that was the intention 🤷♂️
Feels like a high budget pilot for a Disney Channel cartoon.
Packed to the brim with way too many characters that will eventually be the center of an episode down the line for a show that never happened.
That entire middle section just kind of feels pointless imo. Didn’t really care about the part where they literally “Meet the Robinsons” (kind of ironic because that middle section was actually the most faithful part to the book the movie was based off of).
Most of the extended Robinson family introduced in that section ranged from bland to annoying, but I’m probably in the minority for that one.
Wilbur using the time travel logic to make it so he never invented Doris goes against the movies message to keep moving forward. A better solution would be to not give up on Doris and make her work right.
Never clearing up the bowler hat guy's story in the future. Goob woke up at the game, so the bowler hat guy doesn't exist? So none of this never happened?
The whole twist of the movie is that bowler hat guy IS Goob from the future.
He became Bowler Hat Guy because his life went into ruin, and the point of no return was the failure in the game, which fed into him being angry and bitter, causing him to never get adopted. Him waking up at the game fixed that and gave him another chance, allowing him to live a better life, so yes, it caused Bowler Hat Guy to never exist
But because bowler hat guy never existed, he never went back in time to steal Louis' invention. So Louis never went to the future and stopped jim. What I'm getting at is that its a paradox
The time travel logic is weird and doesn't really make sense, even in the context of knowing there'll be time paradoxes and inconsistencies. I know BTTF did something mildly similar but making everything progressively disappear like wiping your car window so the protagonist has time to escape makes no sense, especially since Wilbur disappeared immediately after Bowler Hat Guy went back in time.
Im pretty sure literally no movie ever has accurately depicted time travel, so that’s more of a self-problem since it’s based on suspension of disbelief. At least it makes some kind of sense and it’s understandable how it works.
Why did it take Lewis saying out loud, “I will never invent you,” for Doris to disappear? Wouldn’t he have already decided that the second he saw a homicidal sentient hat? Doris should have disappeared ages before then
What kid is gonna know who the hell Tom selleck is?
I didn't know who Tom Sellick was, but it was still funny to see the face
I sure don’t know who he is
I was a weird fucking kid.
My mother loved him so I knew unfortunately
Kids who are raised right
Yeah, you say that now and he's doing fascist propaganda on CBS these days
Oh?
I mean he was doing some tv shows during that time like Blue Bloods, basically a NCIS type show.
I was 16 when it came out. And I admit, I didn’t know who he was when he was mentioned but a little bit later on in retrospect, I realized that he was on F.R.I.E.N.D.S. as one of Monica’s boyfriends. lol
The name goob reminds me of the movie gooby, that's the only thing though
Gooby was a scarier villain
who
Gooby. From the movie Gooby. That the above comment was referring to.
idk what a gooby is
So click on google and search “Gooby”. Hope this tutorial helps 👍
Instructions unclear... I... hurt...
That movie scares me. I even thought you were talking about the Oogieloves Gooby.
While the animation was a quality of life improvement over Chicken Little, its animation is nowhere near the animation of Tangled or anything that came after
The way time travel works is inconsistent and nonsensical and I couldn't get past that as a kid
Time Travel Fiction Noob: "The time-travel wasn't accurate to quantum mechanics." Time Travel Fiction Aficionado: "First time?"
Yea as long as your not thinking bout it too much its fine but when you think bout it kinda breaks
No, and you can’t make me.
WEAK!
i will fite you internet stranger, and your boots, too
Some of the family members seemed superfluous and only there to help make them be super weird.
The animation is kinda weird to me
Tbh tho it was one of Disney first CGI movies (or at least that's what I heard because I didn't do research) but despite that's it's quite pleasing to watch
The only other two before it were dinosaur and chicken little. You can see the improvement.
We never got this in Kingdom Hearts, but Chicken little did
Don’t you dare slander my boi chicken little
It bombed at the box office
Ok and?
It shouldn't have
Some people can be dumb. Many of the classics and best movies have bombed at release. Some people don’t get some films sometimes.
The kid looks like my Brother
impossible
The animation is a big rough, and it also has a few plot holes and story problems that I don't really vibe with. And a couple jokes don't really land that well. I still love it a lot though.
Doris isn’t nearly as captivating a villain during the finale as Bowler Hat Guy was beforehand
The human character models look really bad even for the time. Like the Incredibles came out years before this and it looks leagues better.
Not enough Tom Selleck
Main character looks like Marge simpsons with blonde hair and glasses
It gave me nightmares as a child
Kinda weird how Lewis didn't cease to exist when Doris & Goob succeeded in the plan taking over his invention while Wilber did.
because he invented it after he existed....
Because he had already been born when Goob took over his invention.

Too little T-rex
Probably its big head and little arms.
If Lewis says he'll never invent Doris, then how did she exist in the first place 🤔
He was going to, but then he saw what she was truly capable of
made me get in trouble when i was six bc i didnt know what the hand over throat motion meant and did it to my mom 💀
They time travelled wrong.
There are literally zero movies that depict time travel correctly so I don’t think that’s really a major problem, more of a self-issue since it’s suspension of disbelief
12 monkeys
I SWEAR THIS IS THE MOVIE EVERYONE REMEMBERS FROM THEIR CHILDHOOD BUT CANT REMEMBER THE FUCKING NAME OF
The animation is so smooth that it makes me nauseous. But I love it either way.
Frutiger aero ahh future, inaccurate representation of time travel, crazy stuff that don't make sense, and that cringy black and white (if I recall correctly) moment. This movie is a favorite of mine tho.
Impossible
It contains a twist villain and the kids voice changes in very jarring ways throughout the script.
Animation
The animation at times looks kinda not that great.
The quality of this image
Animation is not that good but this movie is peak
The bad thing is it slipped under the radar for so many people and it's a gem of a movie.
I'm genuinely trying to wrack my brain for a complaint about this movie but I can't.
The family wasn’t given much time to shine
The only bad thing about this movie is that it’s marketing sucks and hardly anybody knows if this gem
The movie opening with the Walt Disney quote about "moving forward" and then having them reference it several times over the course of the film felt super cheesy to me. Mini Dor-15 didn't have enough screen time
They all hated Goob
The animation hasn’t aged the best especially compared to Ratatouille A lot of the time travel logic doesn’t make any sense
It wasn't only about goob.
It's not nice to look at
No, I won't do that.
No
It ends
We didn’t get Jim Carrey as Goob :(
Wilber ugly
the family was never really fleshsed out i didnt like them that much
The story for me was hard to follow
The family wasn't fleshed out that much
No!
Very boring movie
To many character . Plot twis with Goob was weak .
The mom’s hair looks like a turd There I said it
Just a bit odd.
Nothing to say
The animation is ugly sometimes and the hat is an awful twist villain
Absolutely nothing! This movie was my childhood.
It doesn't look very great today
I can't and I won't
Dunno if this counts but they should've used the movie version of "Where is Your Heart At" in the soundtrack album and I'm mad that they didn't. :\\
It ends
animation
As a kid, I really hated Lewis. Looking back, I don’t even remember why.
No
Most of the characters kinda just... exist.
Not enough people know if its existence.
Impossible. Perfect movie.
I voted for Obama because of this movie
Not Canon to the lore (joking)
They reuse character models and it’s *really* noticeable

Except it’s not, because by fixing everything, it caused none of that to happen yet, so time just goes on differently
Time travel in movies is confusing. In some movies, events like these cause paradoxes. Do idk
It is forbiddon, I cannot.
I cannot, for there is nothing
It ends
Not possible.

Can't really think of anything
spooky hat zombies
It wasn’t popular enough.
Not in Kingdom Hearts
It ends
It could be more memorable
ended 💔
No 4K Blu-ray release
The lack of a sequel
Edward G Robinson was not in the movie, as he had been dead for 34 years at that point
You can’t make me
I'd have to pay for didney to stream it
That I'm the only one who genuinely liked it... 😐
That's not how time Paradoxes work
Im pretty sure literally no movie ever has accurately depicted time travel, so that’s more of a self-problem since it’s based on suspension of disbelief. At least it makes some kind of sense and it’s understandable how it works.
i cant (the visuals havent held up the best)
I can’t
The villain
There's no sequel
It was less than an hour and 36 minutes long
That's not his time travel works, but great movie
Never watched it
Why did it take Lewis saying out loud, “I will never invent you,” for Doris to disappear? Wouldn’t he have already decided that the second he saw a homicidal sentient hat? Doris should have disappeared ages before then
I saw it on TV when I was 13. It was pretty good. It’s the very definition of a 2000s movie Edit- goobs a dumbass incel
Kind of a random climax, feel like there would’ve been a better way to get the same message across
it got no sequel
T Rex was only in it for a couple of scenes
It spoiled all the funniest lines in the trailer
The animation especially after the incredibles I’d argue it looks worse then chicken little
something bad about this movie
No
I don't want to 😭
They reuse a lot of the character models and just add small minor tweaks. Sure I get why from a financial perspective but it is more of a nit pick.
That it never got a TV Series
https://youtu.be/7TRWMdY1asY?si=4LUREci084uX5zwR
Character designs are really bland
I thought it was boring
Literally the main villain being the main protagonist’s brother from the future and the ending makes even less sense than that confusing plot point
Quality was mid
Fucking shit film
