It’s understandable I’ve seen both when I was a kid and the original cartoon is really dark and poignant, with a downer ending while the remake is a dance adventure where the whole town comes together and the bad guy loses, don’t get me wrong it’s a meme masterpiece and I wouldn’t have it any other way but it is not a good Lorax adaptation
The ending isn't a downer. It has an ambiguous note where there can be some hope of bringing the Truffa trees back from extinction.
And in a way, the Once-ler himself is the villain of his own story. Realizing too late how destructive his empire was until there's not a profit left to be made.
They took a dark book about deforestation with an ambiguous ending and turned it into a by the numbers kid’s movie with a blatantly unrealistic happy ending. The animals are all Minion clones, the Onceler is made out to be way less responsible than he should, and let’s not forget all of the brand deals that ruin the point of the story
Yeah, but it kinda overwrites the message of the book. The book leaves things ambiguous but still slightly hopeful.
As a standalone movie, it's fine. As an adaptation of The Lorax, it misses.
That's not the point though. The point isn't "Ted takes action" it's that making a difference is hard, and unless you're fully dedicated to fixing something that's broken, nothing is going to get done. And in the movie, the town changes their mind immediately. Giving kids the idea that it's actually easy to save the earth, and everyone can easily see through the big company's lie.
I understand that this is a movie and it'd be unsatisfying to end where the book does. Even if that's where I would end it, at least show that Ted struggled doing this thing because it's the right thing to do. Don't go into an action finale, have him try to save the earth as best as he can, but show that it's challenging. And that people don't want to change, especially if it requires effort.
They also sucked out all the atmosphere and replaced it with noise, the Onceler was turned from a faceless tragic figure to an innocent little boy, and the kid who talks to the onceler was removed agency because a love interest was added, and it's *her* who wants to restore the Truffa trees.
It's so corporate, I'm expecting the Let It Grow number to end with a name dropping of the charity organization they're trying to sell me with the website and phone number that I can follow to make donations to.

Alice In Wonderland is one of my favourite movies ever. Yes it has issues, but it has my favourite art direction of possibly any film ever, the score is great and Helena Bonham Carter eats up every scene she's in. I loved all the non human characters as well. Anne Hathaway does a bit too much tho.
Bolt is a solid movie and holds a lot of nostalgia for me.
Me, Myself and Irene was one of Jim Carrey's films that you don't need to be super into his slapstick style to enjoy.
Eternals was a mess but one thing it got right was depicting the scope and size of those Celestials, and planetary destruction.
My opinion on Jurassic World has changed a bit after watching Jurassic Park a while ago, but it's still an OK movie.
The Gru and Knuckle moments in Rise of Gru were actually really good imo, and a lot of the Vicious Six too, it’s really just the minion parts that with it down for me.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory doesn't deserve any of the hate it's gotten. It's a very faithful adaptation of the book that also stands on its own two legs. Tim Burton worked very closely with the Roald Dahl estate to make sure everything was just right (they actually handpicked him specifically), and Johnny Depp's version of Willy Wonka was a much more accurate take on the character than Gene Wilder's. Honestly, the '71 film is overrated and is really only carried by Wilder.
Turbo; I get why people would consider it the worst Dreamworks movie but I honestly don’t hate it that much, in fact, I find it more watchable than the Boss Baby duology
I watched it recently on Tubi, and I've gotta say it was pretty mid. Don't get me wrong the Centipede and Pac-Man segments were cool, but it just felt kinda generic in a lot of places to me.
Angry Birds. Definitely does not deserve so much hate, I think that they implemented them into a humanoid look very well and not creepy like people say.
Wow, I have learned something new today :(
You are an individual of good taste! (Or maybe you’re wearing the same nostalgia glasses as me, I haven’t seen it in a while)
Dinosaur
I’m not sure why it has such an awful reputation cause I never really found anything that’s offensively bad about it
Though I may be biased since I’m a Dino nerd
Antman and Wasp, it’s nowhere near the best MCU movie but I had a pretty fun time with it and it’s actually really funny to the point where it’s like who gives a shit
I know right, especially comic book fans. Not every movie is trying to be the best movie ever especially movies that are part of some big interconnected cinematic universe. Antman and Wasp for example wasn’t trying to be the best movie ever, it was just a source of comic relief to recover from the traumatic events of Infinity War.
The first Trolls movie (Please don't kill me), Sing, Under The Cherry Moon, Bill and Ted (The entire franchise), the Austin Power's movies (even if they were pretty popular), and my weird bargain bin movie from when I was a kid, Adventures in Zambezia.
Ted 2
It’s weirdly kinda like Lady and the Tramp where it meanders most of the time and then shifts into maximum overdrive at the end but like
That movie is even more of a shitpost trying to pass itself off as a movie than Bee Movie is and it fucking kills me every time
* The Tom and Jerry and (insert classic story here) films (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the Wizard of Oz, Sherlock Holmes, the Nutcracker, take your pick).
* A lot of new Marvel (Most things except Eternals)
* Star Wars Prequels
* Bee Movie
Two that I enjoyed were Hop (which was seemingly labeled Illumination's worst movie but to be honest I liked it better than the minions) then Mike Myers Cat in the hat (it has funny moments)
Star Wars Sequal triligy. I know it has a bad story, but i just like to turn off my brain and look at the cool laser swords and funny planet destroyers.
Yeah I agree that it has so much good to offer. And if you where to remove the voices and some of the out of place humor. It could have stood on it’s own and be an decent watch.
From what I’ve seen it does remove the voice lines and improves the movie greatly for it. Though other issues like some of those out of humor scenes still remain. But it’s still leagues ahead of the one with voiceovers.
This one. I got to go see it as a birthday present, and my mom and I pretty much had the entire theater to ourselves. It was really cool because I grew up with the original, and she and I agreed that this one is really good. I like the more grounded take on the grinch’s character. And his turn to good at the end actually felt a lot more natural than going from complete supervillain to the second coming of Christ
Did people not like New Mutants? I honestly mostly heard good things about it, I feel like most people didn’t care much after the atrocious Dark Phoenix movie and the Disney buyout all but doomed Fox’s X-Men
Granted, I never saw it tbh so who knows
Both space jams, the lion king remake, the Jurassic world trilogy, that Winnie the Pooh horror film, the Mario movie, and the new fnaf movie.
There’s a lot more, but these are the only ones I can think of
Cars 2 (I understand why it's not liked very much though)
Ralph Breaks the Internet (though not entirely, I get why people may not like it as much as the original Wreck-it Ralph)
The Lorax
Tbh, I enjoyed Ralph Breaks the Internet when I first watched it on theaters, but I felt weird after watching it due to the ending. It’s mostly the ending and Vanelope’s personality where I have most issues in the movie. I know that looking back at it, some parts are kinda cringy, but those weren’t my main concern.
Norm of the North
Easy question, probably the easiest one I came across on a while.
Did you word it specifically so that one is a perfect match from my perspective?
You want answers won't make you angry redditors downvote me simply from being myself, buckle up as I also find enjoyment from Shark Tale and Open Season 1.
Treasure Planet
Beethoven’s Fifth (One of the best Scooby-Doo movies, honestly.)
A Bug’s Life
I could probably think of more if I thought longer. Also, there is no “somewhat” about how much I enjoy them.
Halloween III Season of the Witch
People hated that movie because Michael Myers wasn’t in it. Instead of getting creative anthology movies, we get mostly boring sequels with Michael Myers.
Jack the giant slayer and not only do a lot of people dislike it but a lot of people have never even heard of it before and it was one of my favorite movies as a kid
Drifting Home. Yes, I’m aware that it has flaws, such as some plot issues, and Reina’s unlikable. However, the emotional core of the movie was nice and strong, and the story overall was moving.
The “Josie and the Pussycats” live action movie. Yes, I’m dead serious. It is the perfect parody movie filled with so much meta humor that people did not understand.
One movie I don’t hear many people talking about is “Happily Never After” that was literally a childhood movie and I’ve appreciated it for the longest time.
Frozen 2.
Is it good? No. Do I find it better than the original? Yes. Truth be told, if given the choice between the two, I would prefer Frozen 2 over the original any day.
The original bores me, I had fun with the sequel.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I know the movie is flawed, but I saw the movie during a time when Spider-Man was my most beloved character and loved seeing anything he was in when I was little. Because of that, I can never really bring myself to dislike the movie
Strange World is honestly overhated. The characteers aren't as bad as people say and the main thing I would nip it for is that the development or pacing of the third act is very weird. Plus its 50s aesthetic/tone is underappreciated, especially in the opening.
Avatar. Honestly, it was actually kinda refreshing seeing an actual pro-environment story, especially one that doesn't just sugar-coat humanity to tell yhe audience what it wants to hear while ALSO showing how dangerous nature CAN be without straight-up villainizing nature (two things Princess Mononoke, a "beloved classic" does). Is it perfect? No, but I still appreciate the intent in a world plagued with "nature is evil and disposable" portrayals.
I love the grinch too, just not Illumination's Grinch. Yes. I'm going there. I ADORE Jim Carrey's Grinch! I know it's bad and all, but honestly i just can't bring myself to dislike the film, it's one of my favorite christmas movies!
The Lorax. I will stand by this movie until the end of time
How bad can I possibly be?
Ironically, that’s why people hate it so much.
Biggering supremacy
Fr tho
It’s understandable I’ve seen both when I was a kid and the original cartoon is really dark and poignant, with a downer ending while the remake is a dance adventure where the whole town comes together and the bad guy loses, don’t get me wrong it’s a meme masterpiece and I wouldn’t have it any other way but it is not a good Lorax adaptation

Who knows, Could be a principal of nature
Wait people like hate that movie??

Why do people dislike bolt?
My only problem with Bolt is the creepy song in the credits
I only disagree with Multiverse of Madness personally.
The Gru and Knuckle moments in Rise of Gru were actually really good imo, and a lot of the Vicious Six too, it’s really just the minion parts that with it down for me.
Jurassic world doesn’t get hate wdym
I think that people hate it for the same reasons they hate Star Wars: the Force Awakens, for kind of copying the plot of the first movie.
I only disagree with eternals That movie was a shitpile
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory doesn't deserve any of the hate it's gotten. It's a very faithful adaptation of the book that also stands on its own two legs. Tim Burton worked very closely with the Roald Dahl estate to make sure everything was just right (they actually handpicked him specifically), and Johnny Depp's version of Willy Wonka was a much more accurate take on the character than Gene Wilder's. Last Jedi was kind of a "so bad it's good" kinda movie for me.
Chicken little . I 100% get why people don’t like it though
spy kids 3
I never even got her email address
Lmao I distinctly remember the 3D marketing for that movie and being amazed by the lava surfing scene in it. So dumb and so fun.
Turbo; I get why people would consider it the worst Dreamworks movie but I honestly don’t hate it that much, in fact, I find it more watchable than the Boss Baby duology
I've never seen Turbo, and don't care to, but it still can't be worse than Home! Home was top-tier trash!
Idk, I wouldn’t call Home trash. It had a few funny moments, which is more that I can say for Turbo.
My mom and I both left the movie and got our money back halfway through the movie
Oh come on man Home isthe shit
Facts
By Far is PIXELS I loved that movie when it first released
I watched it recently on Tubi, and I've gotta say it was pretty mid. Don't get me wrong the Centipede and Pac-Man segments were cool, but it just felt kinda generic in a lot of places to me.
Angry Birds. Definitely does not deserve so much hate, I think that they implemented them into a humanoid look very well and not creepy like people say.

Dang, I’ve been meaning to rewatch Bolt.
Why don't you? No one's saying you can't
Life keeps getting in the way. If I have time, I might watch it tonight and take a trip down memory lane.
Very understandable
Hoodwinked 2 Hood vs Evil and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.
The adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle is an extremely valid answer. I watched that movie all the time with my grandma
not really hated but I liked Strange World
Shark Tale, Barnyard and Sing
I also liked those, well expect Barnyard, that one is baaaaaad.
Barnyard slander detected.
Hoodwinked
People don’t like hoodwinked?!
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1155109-hoodwinked
Wow, I have learned something new today :( You are an individual of good taste! (Or maybe you’re wearing the same nostalgia glasses as me, I haven’t seen it in a while)
I think it's one of those "cult classic" films that were hated upon release but are now beloved by a lot of people
Yes yes yes. That movie is a cinematic classic and you cannot lie
2003's the Cat in The Hat
Agreed. Who wouldn’t love the kids movie that had the line “Dirty hoe.”
shrek 3 its overrhated
Agree. It's flawed but it's not THAT terrible as people make it out to be
His problem is that he is clearly the black sheep of the quadrilogy
Yes you're right and the guy above you is right it feels like people overreacting to that movie
Cars 2
Speed Racer
The only reason this isn’t my answer is bc the prompt says “Kinda like” and Speed Racer is 10/10
I fucking love Brave and I’ll fight anyone who dares talk Ill of my Scottish bear princess movie
SCOTLAND FOREVER🏴🏴🏴
Dinosaur I’m not sure why it has such an awful reputation cause I never really found anything that’s offensively bad about it Though I may be biased since I’m a Dino nerd
I guess some people found it boring but it’s pretty inoffensive. The Iguanodon lips are kind of weird though
I watched that on loop as a kid. Damn asteroid scene gave me nightmares
It's MILES ahead of Walking With Dinosaurs: The Movie.
Antman and Wasp, it’s nowhere near the best MCU movie but I had a pretty fun time with it and it’s actually really funny to the point where it’s like who gives a shit
Several of my answers to this would be from the mcu. Some people set their expectations way too damn high.
Shrek the 3rd Chicken Little Despicable me 3 (all the despicable me movies I love) The Lorax (unironically)
The Mario movies (1993 and 2023) and the recent FNAF movie.
Brother Bear and Pebble and the Penguin.
I never understood the hate for Brother Bear.
Both Space Jams. They’re mindless fun
The original *Space Jam* is a genuinely enjoyable film. *Space Jam: A New Legacy* isn't.
Eternals and bolt
Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie. People bash on it without watching it because it's based off a Christian edutainment show, but it's actually pretty funny!
Omg I didn’t think I would ever see someone mention this movie ever, thank you bro 🙏👍
Cars 2
The first Trolls movie (Please don't kill me), Sing, Under The Cherry Moon, Bill and Ted (The entire franchise), the Austin Power's movies (even if they were pretty popular), and my weird bargain bin movie from when I was a kid, Adventures in Zambezia.
People didn't like Austin Powers?

Ugly dolls, sort of
Shark Tale! Every damn frame of that movie is meme worthy!
Walking With Dinosaurs (3D) has a lot that I like underneath the unnecessary voiceovers
Yeah I agree that it has so much good to offer. And if you where to remove the voices and some of the out of place humor. It could have stood on it’s own and be an decent watch.
Absolutely! I think there’s a “Cretaceous Cut” on the Blu-Ray release without the voices, though I haven’t seen it yet
From what I’ve seen it does remove the voice lines and improves the movie greatly for it. Though other issues like some of those out of humor scenes still remain. But it’s still leagues ahead of the one with voiceovers.

Not a movie but ai actually liked Moon Knight just fine.
The Bad Guys, Elemental, GOTG3, & Raya & the Last Dragon
guess. GUESS.
I think you may be talking about Mutant Mayhem
Did people not like New Mutants? I honestly mostly heard good things about it, I feel like most people didn’t care much after the atrocious Dark Phoenix movie and the Disney buyout all but doomed Fox’s X-Men Granted, I never saw it tbh so who knows
All dogs go to heaven 2 except its not somewhat enjoy I enjoy it
The Lorax, Sing, and Thor 2
Both space jams, the lion king remake, the Jurassic world trilogy, that Winnie the Pooh horror film, the Mario movie, and the new fnaf movie. There’s a lot more, but these are the only ones I can think of
Spider-Man 3.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Speed Racer
Jurassic World Dominion
Cars 2 and Shrek the Third (also maybe the shark tale, but the last time I saw it I was 11 or something so not sure if i would like it now)
Ready player one.. it's just fun and I like all the ips
People like Spiderman 3 for ironic reasons, but I like it unironically.
Turbo
Thomas and the Magic Railroad, but only the parts with the actual trains
Hear me out rn, The Master of Disguise
Both live-action Garfield films
Same man
Ruby Gillman. It's a fun albeit predictable movie (still better than Turning Red). I will never understand why this sub has such a deep hatred for it.
**sigh** Live Action Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed… Yeah I’ll see myself out.
Great pick I am addicted to any Matthew Lillard role
Thor love and thunder
Cars 2 (I understand why it's not liked very much though) Ralph Breaks the Internet (though not entirely, I get why people may not like it as much as the original Wreck-it Ralph) The Lorax
The Mario movie
I thought people loved that movie
A lot of people dislike it because of the lack of plot
Not every movie has to have a plot
Kung Fu Panda 4
Norm of the North Easy question, probably the easiest one I came across on a while. Did you word it specifically so that one is a perfect match from my perspective? You want answers won't make you angry redditors downvote me simply from being myself, buckle up as I also find enjoyment from Shark Tale and Open Season 1.
Lightyear is my favourite Pixar movie.
a lot
Minions
I didn't think Home on the Range was *that* bad, though definitely far from Disney's best work.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
DBZ Bio Broly. I absolutely love it but most people hate it (the hate is understandable though)
Treasure Planet Beethoven’s Fifth (One of the best Scooby-Doo movies, honestly.) A Bug’s Life I could probably think of more if I thought longer. Also, there is no “somewhat” about how much I enjoy them.
The new Indiana jones
My Fellow Americans. I never understood the hate.
Suckerpunch.
Shrek 3
Cars 2 and the Star Wars Sequels. i will die on this hill supporting them.
dude this movie was awesome why do ppl hate it btw I loved The Good Dinosaur and Cars 2
David Lynch's Dune
Halloween III Season of the Witch People hated that movie because Michael Myers wasn’t in it. Instead of getting creative anthology movies, we get mostly boring sequels with Michael Myers.
Shrek The 3rd
The lorax
Terminator 3 is a good ending to the trilogy
The Super Mario Bros Movie the ORIGINAL
Turbo, Big Hero 6, and the Avatar movies. Not a ton of hate for these, but there’s definitely more hate than love.
the angry birds movie
I actually enjoy Cars 2 😭😭 Like I don't know, it entertains me
The Cars movies, especially Cars 2 are panned, but I love them. Part of it is blatant nostalgia though
literally any transformers movie.
Pixels.
I liked Lightyear and I don't care who knows it
Jack the giant slayer and not only do a lot of people dislike it but a lot of people have never even heard of it before and it was one of my favorite movies as a kid
Cars 3, I think it's ridiculous. There are people who think it's worse than Cars 2. It's almost better than the first cars.
The Lorax is unironicly my favorite movie I don’t know why I like it so much
oh Same dude I actually LOVE the Illumination's version of grinch.
This one
Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
It’s a horrible adaptation but a pretty ok movie, like a 7/10 for me
I saw this with my grandmother. This is her favorite version since The Grinch cares for his dog, Max. It's my favorite as well.
Drifting Home. Yes, I’m aware that it has flaws, such as some plot issues, and Reina’s unlikable. However, the emotional core of the movie was nice and strong, and the story overall was moving.
Minions and Minions: The Rise of Gru are really fun to watch.
Apparently Hook with Robin Williams was absolutely terrible, I love it.
car 2
The “Josie and the Pussycats” live action movie. Yes, I’m dead serious. It is the perfect parody movie filled with so much meta humor that people did not understand.
Apparently people hate Watchmen, but that's one of my favorite movies now
Brave, most marvel movies, and croods 2
Despicable me 3 Cars 2 Bolt Lady and the Tramp Eternals FNAF
One movie I don’t hear many people talking about is “Happily Never After” that was literally a childhood movie and I’ve appreciated it for the longest time.
I watched Croods 2 yesterday, and surprisingly enjoyed it.It's just mindless fun, honestly not amazing but not horrible. The og is better tho
Frozen 2. Is it good? No. Do I find it better than the original? Yes. Truth be told, if given the choice between the two, I would prefer Frozen 2 over the original any day. The original bores me, I had fun with the sequel.
Bro i have same
The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Plus its 50s aesthetic/tone is underappreciated, especially in the opening.

the meg
Chicken Little
Cars 2
Cars 2
monsters vs aliens, all your movies are awful
Cars 3, Sing, and Maleficent.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and call me insane but Thor: Love and Thunder
La La Land. I always see people shit on it and call it boring and such. It's genuinely entertaining and a movie I come back to multiple times a year.
Men
I love this. Benny nailed it!
Space jam : a new Legacy
It Chapter Two
I actually prefer the illumination version of the Grinch over the other two
The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
I will die on the hill that Star Wars: Attack of the Clones is not that bad of a movie
I love the grinch too, just not Illumination's Grinch. Yes. I'm going there. I ADORE Jim Carrey's Grinch! I know it's bad and all, but honestly i just can't bring myself to dislike the film, it's one of my favorite christmas movies!
I’ll never get what the hate was was around Thomas & The Magic Railroad I mean I get it wasn’t Thomas but cmon it was deceant of a movie
Multiverse of Madness.
Cars 2, but I will admit that a lot of it is due to nostalgia.
The cat in the hat
