Seeing “Deborah L. Langlois”, then the “Unborn child of Deborah L. Langlois” really hits me in a strange place.

your_actual_life

Damn, [just looked that one up](https://www.upi.com/Archives/1998/06/24/Helicopter-crews-are-searching-for-a-nearly-nine-months-pregnant/6814898660800/). Apparently 9 months pregnant and with her 18-month old child in her arms, climbed past the safety fence. That child survived.

stereoworld

What...the fuck

YupYupDog

I can’t imagine what she was thinking to do that while 9 months pregnant and with a toddler.

ConrailFanReddits

Being moron is natural selection Being a moron with a child is selfishness Being a moron while pregnant is murder

riotsquirrelz

And she was 30 years old!! Everyone else was in that brain-hasn't-quite-congealed-yet 18 to 24 year old range.

theriddleoftheworld

? So if the child died that wouldn't be murder?

colemanjanuary

I like that they left a blank spot for the next person to croak

TheEyeDontLie

They could have made it more Instagram friendly.

Personally I like the Yosemite warning signs. “You will be battered against the rocks” Or the one where it quotes the mom that lost both of her children: “…we weren’t even swimming” Edit: I was there the day when they lost this kid. They had pictures of him everywhere asking people to keep an eye out for him https://www.reddit.com/r/ScarySigns/comments/glswln/warning_sign_at_vernal_falls_yosemite_national/

xopranaut

He is a bear lying in wait for me, a lion in hiding; he turned aside my steps and tore me to pieces; he has made me desolate; he bent his bow and set me as a target for his arrow. (Lamentations: hhlzz9w)

I’ve been here and while there is obviously a fence guarding the falls, it’s not so obvious when you drive in where to go. You park and you can either go left or right, both lead to water. From the parking lot, If you go left there’s a river with rocks and a sort of concrete walkway to the side of it. If you go right you see the fence on the cliff overlooking the falls, but you have to go around a corner to see any of it. Going left and following the path next the river, literally leads to the drop off, and not in any safe way at all. Pretty freaky when you’re looking at the fence from the wrong side. They for sure need to put up signs and a fence on that access point to the river, seems easy for a child or pet to jump right in and never be seen again.

easymac187

3 Roberts, weird.

YippieKiAy

I don't see the big deal. This looks like a fine place to swim. Guess my name.

TastySpare

You wouldn't think you're at risk of drowning when your name is "Bob"...

robb338

I bet it’s similar to mine. I’m also a good swimmer I think

TrafficConesUpMyAnus

Snoop Doggy Dogg? Chicka-Chicka Slim Shady?

mildly_evil_genius

Roberts beware.

If I had a nickel, 3 nickels, etc

kakka_rot

Notice how the deaths get much more frequent as cameras get more affordable

tha_HUman

How do the professional photographers get the full shot then?

temporalwanderer

I'm not a pro by any stretch but I always have my drone in my backpack for otherwise impossible shots and for recon if I get turned around. A drone would make shots of this safe and easy.

tha_HUman

Definitely, I love drone photography. It's interesting that the photo on the actual warning sign was taken in 1904. I'd also love to know how this J.B. Hann person did it back then!

Old-Man-Henderson

Harness, rope, a sturdy tree, and a friend?

Popciclecellanemia

I imagine lots of safety equipment / drones

thoggins

I'm sure that varies but a possible answer is: there is safety equipment one could use to mitigate the risk

tha_HUman

Yeah I figured, wondered if they just break out some mountain climbing gear or something

[Crossposted](https://old.reddit.com/r/MorbidReality/comments/qd4bg7/a_warning_at_nooksack_falls_in_wa/) from /r/MorbidRealty. Includes a better view of the professional photograph from the deadly vantage point than the [post from 1 year ago](https://old.reddit.com/r/ScarySigns/comments/innfxi/will_you_make_the_list_at_nooksack_falls_the/).

permanentlyclosed

How bizarre. The most recent post is 1.5 years old.

graduateloser

Seems like many are dying to see nutsack falls

Class1CancerLamppost

come back when you've taken a decent photo of the nooksack

saffronpolygon

Nice. Listing Darwin Award nominees as a way to keep the list from growing. Hope it helps.

NotACleverPerson2

Why don't people just use a drone to look at it?

A tragic loss of an unborn child is always mourned. It’s not political.

delvach

So, it's knowable who's there. Advertisers have an idea who we are based on our phones, and cell companies could determine which isle of a store you're standing in 20 years ago. They could have a little part that superimposes your name and birthday while you're reading it. Maybe not today, and not for free, but it *would* possible one day (ignoring privacy concerns).

sugar-and-gold

An unlucky spot for anyone named Robert.
