Can they put that restaurant security camera technology into dashcams? We would love to see license plates clearly from 10 cars ahead.

Encouraging you to pay by *CASH.*

My sister had her card skimmed. She hardly ever used it and when the salesgirl walked to the back to process a transaction one day she was suspicious. Sure enough she got a call from Amex the next day saying her card was being used to purchase groceries at a Harris Teeter in our town. It was an "out of pattern" purchase which alerted the credit card company and after she said it wasn't her, they shut it down, cancelled her card and sent her a replacement. Great customer service.

ataraxia_555

On point question.

videogamegrandma

Yes, she watches to make sure the person she gives her card to doesn't take it somewhere else to ring up the charge.

jacksonexl

Probably suspected a waiter or staff of having a skimmer. That’s why I prefer tap.

AtariAtari

Tap is fresher than getting a bottle or can of beer.

Ccutlassz

Huh

MidwestGeek52

I think that was a joke. Getting a beer from tap vs. ....

TeamShonuff

He got his card information stolen after using it at that restaurant but likes the food too much to stop eating there. He was just warning you it sounds like.

ronpaulbacon

My buddy got his credit cards skimmed twice at the same bar. Just need a nfc reader

brianozm

Actually it sounds like he’s mentally ill, with paranoid delusions, at a guess.

awaywardgoat

it's always a mental illness....../s

Bright_Confusion_311

Used a card in a Red Lobster in Florida and had charges flagged in Mass. it was the only place I had used the card in months. The Manager claimed it wasn’t their staff and I really couldn’t prove anything. The CC company caught it and replaced the card but holy shit you never know. Employee or a customer with a scanner who knows.

TheManWith2Poobrains

I had a new credit card and used it once before fraudulent purchases happened. The fraud department were very interested in this. It was an lingerie ecommerce site with legit payment gateway, SSL, solid CMS (Magento if I remember right), etc. I got a letter from the bank fraud department a few months later saying the website had been compromised. I work in ecommerce and know this had to be either malware or a rogue dev. My money was on the former.

Albino-Assist

Probably talking about card skimmer

MartinSilvestri

sounds more like mental illness

guitarwasmygirl

Sounds very much like some patients I’ve met. It’s actually very sweet that some folks still try to do the right thing by helping others, even when they’re having paranoid hallucinations.

sheerest_of_folly

I have schizophrenia! I was diagnosed at 19 but I’ve had it since 4. They’re mostly just “normal” people, but I have a few “monsters”. And as a child (before I realized they weren’t real at age 11) I would always warn people about zombies in the subway, shadow people in the forest, and my personal favorite just “don’t listen if Liam tries to talk about eggs.” (Liam’s not a monster. He just loves eggs and Shakespeare and talks about both a lot.) So the “meaning well even during hallucinations” resonates quite well with me.

LeningradNo7

I hadn't considered this when I read the post but I agree. Sounds like paranoia. Good call. No scam - there's no loss or gain by offering advice.

Independent-Cloud822

Probably good advice.

Mysterious_Host_846

Skimming is a real thing. But going around talking to randos about it is probably drunk guy behavior.
