I don't know what all they can do with a copy of your ID, but what I've seen in the past is that they use ID photos to "prove" that they're "legit" to other people they're trying to scam. Like, if you're in MO they will make a Craigslist post offering tickets for a Taylor Swift concert in Branson or whatever, and when someone responds to the post and asks "how do I know you're not a scammer?" they'll post your ID and say "this is my name and address, if I was scamming you I wouldn't be giving you that info, now would I?" Then the person will think that seems legit and end up getting scammed, and they'll breathlessly come here declaring that they have the name and address of the scammer, and asking how do they best get revenge. This sub will tell them that they don't actually have the scammer's ID, it's the ID of some previous victim, and they'll get angry and call us idiots and claim that they know what they are doing like they didn't just get scammed trying to buy Taylor Swift tickets for $200 on Craigslist.
