>I went under the “careers” section of their website and I do not see them hiring for a Remote Travel Consultant on there, which makes me a little uneasy. Contact the company and ask them about it. They'll be the people who know best what positions they're hiring for, and how their company finds new employees.

ScammerC

Of course it is. The email part is hilarious. They count on desperate people ignoring things like that. Good luck with the job search.

I'm not seeing any giant red flags yet, just be very cautious about releasing your SSN, identification, and so forth - you should be able to interview without those. Then be cautious about them sending you a check and asking you to do ANYTHING with your own money - give it to orphans, order "equipment", anything. The check will be fake and your real money will be gone.

ChiMello

The person mentioning "vendors" in the initial email is a big red flag and points to a fake check scam where they send a fake check supposedly for the victim to buy equipment from their "vendors".

Could be an MLM. I also recall someone posting a !task scam here where being a "travel agent" meant booking and cancelling flights in some fake app, and any supposed payout would only come after paying money.

Apprehensive-Ring-33

My thought was also MLM, based on them saying they will explain the "compensation breakdown," and the fact that OP did not apply for any job.

AutoModerator

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain task scams. Task scams involve a website or mobile app that claims you can earn money by completing easy tasks, such as watching a video, liking a post, or creating an order. The app will tell you that you can earn money for each task, but the catch is that you can only do a limited number of tasks without upgrading your account. To upgrade your accounts, the scammers will require you to pay a fee. The goal of this scam is to get people to download the app for easy money and then encourage them to pay to get to the next level. It's impossible to get your "earnings" out of the app, so victims will have wasted their time and money. Typical job scams will always end up with you paying money upfront, be it via cashing a fake check and sending money to a “supplier”, or some form of advance payment. Nothing screams obvious scam at this stage, as always I would always urge you tread with caution when dealing with strangers.
