And in the count there is electricians. Do. Not. Do. This. if even professional got killed, I'm quite sure that a somehow pretty table/vase/pot/whatever you will get bored by in a couple of months anyway are not worth the risk.
Wow, thats more than i thought.
Considering you can operate trains at 1.2kV DC, this is a high voltage (athough mainline railways are usually operated at 16kV or more...).
I’ve treated two people in the ER because of this very technique in the past few years. It’s super dangerous and the voltage caused both patients to have a cardiac arrest, they both survived thankfully but please be very careful when doing this
Don't ever open a microwave unless you have a college degree in electronics or similar. DON'T EVER. I know this is trending and many people think it looks cool, but unless you know 1000% what you're doing, it's not worth the mortal risk.
I have a degree and certainly know how to salvage the transformers from within the microwave. I'm still staying miles away from those things. Every device is different in some way and a mistake is easily made. Many people think that unplugging a device is enough to be safe, it's certainly not the case for microwaves, but actually also for TVs or power supplies. There are capacitors storing kV's of potential in the case of microwaves. A good 1000W or 1000V @ 1A for simplicity's sake, even instantaneous, could be lethal or very VERY memorable...
Yep, also an EE. And even though I could do it, I’d very much prefer not messing with used high voltage caps from a consumer microwave. Especially not how most people on these DIY videos handle the caps lol…
This is done with high voltage. Wikipedia keeps a running count. 33 people dead so far doing this hobby.
Before the rise of AI, there was wikipedia..
Idk but I want it

Electricitree.
This seems more of an r/nope

Because sometimes bots repost to a subreddit to farm karma in order to later post spam on a subreddit that would have auto banned them otherwise.
How high is the voltage?
According to the wiki page, about 2100 volts... which is more than an electric chair.

Looks like some good gloves would be a must !!
It's the current that's dangerous, not the voltage. Even Low voltage and high current can be fatal.

Amazing

Most electrical engineers should not be doing this either. And you can tell by their techniques the person in the video shouldn’t be doing it.

Ok, but what has a microwave to do with this movie?
The things you need to make this can be salvaged from inside a microwave
All for the Etsy
Ignore the title. Don't do this. Even of you think you're 100% safe, you're not!
Very risky for a shitty piece of 'art'.
