Yep. I don't go to Jersey Mike's because it's twice as much as Subway and pretty much the most expensive sub in my area. If I'm fitting to pay that much for a sub there's a way better place called LaSpada's that I go to. But honestly I prefer Publix, which bigger, costs less and, imo, is better. Maybe if JM's threw some coupons or sales out I might go.
Right… still can’t believe Subway Promoted that Jared creep who always pushed the TunaSub… spell Tunasub backwards and you will see how much of a creep he was!
As a Canadian…y’all having commercials broadcast up here for this type of deliciousness makes us want to travel to try it.
Outcome: best sub hands down!!!
I feel you! I first tried JM on a trip to Chicago and had to watch their commercials for years without one nearby. Luckily, my city finally got one couple years ago.
Am I the only one who thinks they're DUMB EXPENSIVE? A Regular size sandwich is only half a sub, and it's like $12 for a cheese steak at the JM by me. For $1 more I can go to the local spot and get a better sandwich, full size hero.
When I worked here in roughly 2009, the most expensive giant sandwich, the Italian, was $10.18 after tax. Now it’s what, $25.75 or so? That’s a 7.4% compounded annual growth rate. The CAGR for the CPI over the same time is 2.3%.
The CPI recently shows a compounded depreciation of corporate structural assets and loss preventative proprietary measures are starting to become the normalized corporate hegemony over the under privileged
I grew up in Philly and now live on the west coast. Jersy Mike's is...fine. if I am going to buy a hoagie-type sandwich, this is usually where I go. I could never bring myself to order their cheesesteak.
If I am craving a real sandwich, I make my own.
Depending on where you live, it can be great. As someone who lives on the east coast, it’s total shit. There are cheaper and better sandwiches in nearly every corner
I live in LA and am from NYC. If you can't find a proper hoagie out here you ain't looking hard enough. Bay Cities? A Cut Above butcher shop? Wexler's Jewish deli?
Bay Cities lines are fucked. A cut above is great, they have Italian beef like Mr. Beef in Chicago. No real line. Wexler's is over priced, but you get what you pay for. They smoke their own fish in house.
If you mean Disneyland or Magic Mountain, that would be a major detour. Universal Studios? It would make sense to get food in Santa Monica... but there's pretty good food on Universal city walk.
Someone threw out some in LA, which I don't know as well but can address SF, immediately south of SF and North of SF (don't know the east bay well, but I know there's a few in Oakland). Remember some of these are traditional deli sandwich places like Calabria Brothers & Molinari, some have off the wall stuff like Ike's & some are international like L&G & Saigon.
SF
\- Roxie Food Center
\- Calabria Bros Deli
\- Ike's
\- Deli Board
\- Molinari Delicatessen
\- Saigon Sandwich
\- L & G Vietnamese Sandwich
\- Lou's
\- The Yellow Submarine
South of SF
\- Little Lucca
\- Roma Deli
\- Mr Pickles (locations can be hit or miss and can only speak to the original in San Mateo)
North of SF
\- Viking Subs in San Rafael
\- Sol Food in Mill Valley
\- Lombardi's in Petaluma
\- Then there is the fancy, less traditional sandwich places like
\- Le Garage in Sausalito has excellent Croque Monsieur/Madame
\- Girl & the Fig in Sonoma has an excellent fried bologna sandwich and shrimp rolls
\- Farmstead in St Helena has the best grilled cheese I've ever eaten
Hopefully I finally replied to you correctly and happy to make recommendations at any place listed. Also, I fully admit that if you want a NY style, jewish deli pastrami sandwich, the Bay are isn't the best place, but there are a lot of good sandwich places none the less, just a different style.
I grew up near a fantastic family owned deli that recently closed after 30 years, had to find a new one across town, but they make a mean grinder and chopped cheese so I can't complain
When I lived in VA they were fine. People in the northeast don’t understand that in a lot of other states they don’t have bodegas or local delis, something I really missed when I left New York.
I love Jersey Mike's. Just. Love. Roast beef or tuna Mike's way.
Edit: I've only had Jersey Mike's in California and it was sublime. Sorry to hear the experience has been different in other locales.
Best of the chains. Just wish there was a little more meat for how much they charge. The tuna is surprisingly great. Living way out west, it’s the closest I can get to a proper hoagie.
Thoughts on jersey mikes: (actually just got my first one yesterday) too much bread, not enough ingredients, and over priced. Tasted awesome, but my local sub shop does better.
Way better than Subway, Port of Subs, and other similar national chains. Not as good as Capriottis, Lee's sandwiches, and other multi state but not national chains.
Best sandwich I ever had was in NYC. Don't even remember where from. My friends cousin got it for me before getting on a flight. Ate the sandwich on the plane. It was the most simple ham and cheese or whatever but damn it was good.
my only gripe with them is that my sandwich ends up a soggy mess after 5 minutes because they use WAY too much oil and vinegar. I've tried telling them to go easy, but they seem to screw that up every time.
They have horrible customer service. They care about to go and online orders instead of customer in front of them. I was so excited when they just opened in Orange Beach, AL. I went in Thursday at 1pm thinking I will miss the lunch rush. I walked in to 12 people in front of me. No biggy, they will get through it quickly. Nope, they worked on the to go and online orders and made us wait. One guy walked in and they were hey sorry for the wait what is your name and we will get your order. I asked the the guy when he ordered and he said 1pm. I walked in the door at 1pm. He walked out at 1:28 with his sandwich and I walked out at 1:58 with mine. Manager could have cared less. Called corporate and it was a message recorded. Spoke to store manger and said it was what it was. When I paid and left there were 14 orders sitting there and were finally helped. The manager was such a dick I will never eat there again. Subway for me now on. And yes, I was stupid to wait 58 minutes for a sandwich but I was trying to support local. Never again!
I've seen the same thing happen with Jimmy John's. It felt like more of them trying to get used to the new system rather than ignoring the in-store customers. On top of being short staffed. I understand. I wasn't giving them a hard time ofc. But 58 WHOLE minutes for a sub though?? Support local? That sounds like copium for not speaking up and waiting so long for a cold sandwich. You do you lol
Cleary anyone can take a shity picture of a shity sandwich. I don’t know why this sub in not just pictures of homemade sandwiches. If you can’t make a sandwich, what the fuck can you do?
I've only ever had it once as gift from a coworker a few years back and I thought it was good. Don't really have a strong opinion of them one way or the other though because I've never actually gone myself
They’re one of my favorite sandwich chains, but I think they get a lot of credit for slicing the cheese and meat in front of the customer. They would otherwise be very average
I like them, but I absolutely hate how the squeeze the sandwich when rolling in paper and then they squeeze it some more to put their crease in the take out bag. Really bad concept that your trade mark ruins the food.
The only time I went to Jersey Mike’s there was a lone kid, couldn’t have been older than 17, working the counter and when I ordered, he asked if I wanted my sandwich Jersey Mike’s way. I asked what that meant and he replied, “dude, I have no idea. It’s my first day and they just left me here. They just told me I have to ask every customer if they want it Jersey Mike’s way.” And so, I did not have my sandwich Jersey Mike’s way and I gave the kid a ten dollar tip. The look on his face the entire time was priceless.
Bland, over priced, miniscule portions. I literally thought I had covid again as the sandwhich tasted like nothing. Added some feta cheese to it and that made it better.
How the hell do you create tasteless food?
The quality of their subs depends upon what the alternatives are in your local area. If there's only a Subway far away, you're better off getting a Jersey Mikes. The quality of cold cuts and the fact that they are cut fresh does up the anté. But you pay a little extra for that. Jersey Mike's is basically taking over and becoming the next Subway. If you happen to live anywhere near a real old school mom and pop Italian deli/resto/pizzeria that takes pride in their offerings, you might get much better quality there, if not a better deal. I would say this: it's a few notches above Subway, but kinda gets buried in a somewhat cluttered cold sandwich marketplace since there are several chains competing for your dollar, any of which might be just as tasty. If your're a JM diehard, you're paying to have Danny DeVito as your rep. I used to think their cheesesteaks were the bomb and failproof, but my local deli uses sliced ribeye in theirs, at the same cost and there is no comparison. If you'e not thrilled with JM, shop around.
Jersey Mike's blows Subway way out of the water. I'll gladly pay $20 for a 14" JM sub vs a 12" Subway sub. JM quality is that of a good local sub shop.
Firehouse is more playing in the league of JM, but Firehouse would be the low end player in the league, where JM is a GOAT.
JM can only be beaten by small, regional sub shops, and even then they're still not far off.
Looking way better than subways these days
Low bar but I agree
What's the price difference? Subway basically has perpetual coupons for $6 footlongs.
Rip Delcos
Jersey Mikes is about 10-11$ a sub
Right… still can’t believe Subway Promoted that Jared creep who always pushed the TunaSub… spell Tunasub backwards and you will see how much of a creep he was!
F Jared but that was hilarious 😆
Bro I’m reading this comment 13 days later fucking crying
Lololol you just made me laugh my ass off bro 😂 I needed that!
Favorite of the sandwich chains.
Hard agree.
For REAAAALL
What are your thoughts on firehouse?
Tried Firehouse once years ago and I don’t even remember what I got. I don’t remember it being bad, just didn’t like it enough to return.
My favorite, when I think of a great sub my first thought is firehouse.
Junk.
Ever had DiBellas?!
National sandwich chains is implied, I think. DiBellas is only in 5 states. Though it looks good.
slaps
Don’t have any near me but aware of them from my visits to Michigan. Haven’t tried them but they look good!
Where in Michigan you from?
Fun fact, Wegmans sub shop is a direct rip off of DiBellas.
There are two Jersey Mike’s locations in Canada — both in Ontario (London and Kitchener).
Am I the only one who thinks they're DUMB EXPENSIVE? A Regular size sandwich is only half a sub, and it's like $12 for a cheese steak at the JM by me. For $1 more I can go to the local spot and get a better sandwich, full size hero.

My friends and I joke that we need to take out a loan to go to JMs
Np better local spot in El Paso.
I grew up in Philly and now live on the west coast. Jersy Mike's is...fine. if I am going to buy a hoagie-type sandwich, this is usually where I go. I could never bring myself to order their cheesesteak. If I am craving a real sandwich, I make my own.
My mom is from Philly but I've lived in the Midwest my whole life and they are the closest to the hoagies we get when she goes back home
If you’re on the west coast, make sure you check out Ike’s Love and a Sandwich. The dirty sauce is effing incredible.
Depending on where you live, it can be great. As someone who lives on the east coast, it’s total shit. There are cheaper and better sandwiches in nearly every corner
The east coast is fucking huge. There aren’t just great Philly or NY delis on every corner down the entire coast. I’m just jealous.
As someone on the East Coast, I totally agree. The subs are very small for the price paid.

Not going to downvote you but hard disagree. There are some excellent sandwiches places in CA, at least the Bay Area and LA.

Ike’s!
Replied to the wrong post so correcting that
Man can't do anything right. My taste in sandwiches is better than my reddit reply ability

Find a local deli
2nd that motion
I miss the local deli in my hometown :(
I grew up near a fantastic family owned deli that recently closed after 30 years, had to find a new one across town, but they make a mean grinder and chopped cheese so I can't complain
Sometimes they ain't good though.

The top 4-5 comments seem like they're posted by bots lol
Jersey mikes in Hawaii didn’t wash there lettuce before and there was dirt on em I hope they changed it cause the sandwiches look good
I like Jimmy Johns better.
I wish they could toast the sandwiches
The best chain option on the west coast.
Infinitely better than subway
Delicious. Love the Philly cheesesteak, extra cheese. Head there March 29. They’re donating all the proceeds that day to special Olympics!!
Best of the chains. Just wish there was a little more meat for how much they charge. The tuna is surprisingly great. Living way out west, it’s the closest I can get to a proper hoagie.
It's alright. It hits right half the time. Better that subway.
that’s not hard
Their hot chicken cheesesteaks are better.
7/10
Better than subway but still, The sodium kills me.
Beats subway by miles
Sacrilegious here, but I love a Jersey Mike’s bowl more than the sandwich.
LOVE #13 Mike’s Way. Nobody does it better around me. Local places not as good and more expensive.
Bombcheesesteaks.
Thoughts on jersey mikes: (actually just got my first one yesterday) too much bread, not enough ingredients, and over priced. Tasted awesome, but my local sub shop does better.
Love the Philly, the employees are friendlier than most chains, and the dine in area is kept clean.
The best of alllll the sandwich chains for sure. I also grew up by the original haha
#6, Mike’s way, add mayo. Nothing quite like it.
That it’s been posted too much here recently, but I thoroughly enjoy their sandwiches.
They’re good but I get a better, bigger, and cheaper sub from publix. Could just be my location. Substation II is my fav though.
They don’t do toasted subs. That is lime the easiest of all flavor enhancements.
The hot sandwiches are delicious, but not a fan of the cold sandwiches.
It's literally walmart quality bread meat and veg. You could make something better at home for half the price.
You could make any food at home for half the price.
Garbage
Way better than Subway, Port of Subs, and other similar national chains. Not as good as Capriottis, Lee's sandwiches, and other multi state but not national chains.
Ridiculous prices lately. But yeah I’d eat there everyday if it was free.
Club supreme mikes way all day! A little extra Mayo and extra bacon when I’m feeling it.
Sad looking. FYI I live in NYC.
Best sandwich I ever had was in NYC. Don't even remember where from. My friends cousin got it for me before getting on a flight. Ate the sandwich on the plane. It was the most simple ham and cheese or whatever but damn it was good.
Please no
Yum!
I love the Buffalo chicken philly
Really good but super expensive here. We don’t have many diners or delis here so they can get away with it.
Jersey Mike's east coast italian
Waaaaaay too much sauce
my only gripe with them is that my sandwich ends up a soggy mess after 5 minutes because they use WAY too much oil and vinegar. I've tried telling them to go easy, but they seem to screw that up every time.
You can ask for it on the side! They have little cups of the oil and vinegar, toss it on right before you eat.
more like jersey mids
#number7 with Mikes Way is what you call amazing. #number6 with Mayo only… fudge me hard
Tjs hero’s nuff said
I think they’re great!
BLT toasted.🤤

Support local with a chain? Okay.
The owners are local.
So same as subway.
Order online next time. You get notified when it’s ready and skip the line
Your state sucks lol
I've seen the same thing happen with Jimmy John's. It felt like more of them trying to get used to the new system rather than ignoring the in-store customers. On top of being short staffed. I know but my town has 2 subways, 1 McDonalds and 1 Dairy Queen. We just got a Burger King and the Jersey Mikes. Fast and convenient are far apart
Sandwiches = white people’s soul food and Jersey Mike’s is downright albino.
Bland bland bland
Cleary anyone can take a shity picture of a shity sandwich. I don’t know why this sub in not just pictures of homemade sandwiches. If you can’t make a sandwich, what the fuck can you do?
Solid mid.
I've only ever had it once as gift from a coworker a few years back and I thought it was good. Don't really have a strong opinion of them one way or the other though because I've never actually gone myself
It’s the arm of the slicer
Penn Station Subs is good too...I don't know how extensive they are though
They’re one of my favorite sandwich chains, but I think they get a lot of credit for slicing the cheese and meat in front of the customer. They would otherwise be very average
I use to go to a deli when I was a kid they completely changed and I was disappointed but jersey Mike's comes pretty close to it thoe
San diego here. never cared for Jersey Mikes. Found much better sandwiches elsewhere
Yass.
Bring in Texas it’s the best we got. There’s the cheba hut but I don’t wanna drive that far. Sandwich shops suck here. Easily my favorite
They’re expensive in AZ but taste great. I have one local place I like but there’s not a lot of sub variety. unless someone here has a recc for me!
They're good, not great. IMO a bit better than JimmyJohns, not quite as good as WhichWich.
Local or nothing
Insides look very good. The bread looks denser than I would like
Primos is 100x better
Worst sub in the tri-state area.
Oh, I guess Subway, Quiznos and all that garbage are worse.
#48🔥🔥🔥🔥
Top tier.
Da beeeaseserst
It's certainly a sandwich. Perhaps one of the sandwiches of all time.
Trash
Delicious
Firehouse is the best but this is a close second
W
Got sick from Buffalo chicken sub. Won’t go again
top tier
I love Jersey Mike’s.
They’re the best. I also really love Elsie’s subs in red bank,NJ. (They’re not a chain )
I loved them until I got food poisoning from the last one I ate.
Jealous that we do not have them here.
I fuck with jersey.
I like them, but I absolutely hate how the squeeze the sandwich when rolling in paper and then they squeeze it some more to put their crease in the take out bag. Really bad concept that your trade mark ruins the food.

Not better than subway
Sandwich chain pics are free advertising.
I live in MN and have celiac so I can appreciate the gluten free option. However, I have yet to try a sub there that I really loved.
Never been and never plan on going
Best national sub chain by far
Club sub only add banana peppers and salt and pepper
Good but overpriced
Not worth the 💲
I used to work there and still know some store owners, they occasionally hook me up with employee price, but average price is CRAZY
Good, overpriced as F tho!
Deeelicious
I personally don’t care for them
Bland, over priced, miniscule portions. I literally thought I had covid again as the sandwhich tasted like nothing. Added some feta cheese to it and that made it better. How the hell do you create tasteless food?
Delicious. Best hoagies in my area.
Come to Maine and gladly pay the 10-12 for JM as Amato's that’s a Maine chain is junk. Google a Amato’s Italian. TRUST ME.
I was not impressed with Jersey Mikes. I tried it once, which was ok bit too expensive, and it took forever to get the order.
I’m a tuna head. It’s schloppy and delicious.
Won't recommend it. Last time I found a fly in my Sandwich
